@asamlimpo: It is your greed that is preventing you from seeing the truth about the bible's stand on tithe. As to the antitithers, how can you honestly expect a church employee to understand something when his livelihood depends on him not understanding it? |
Weah96:No be lie you talk, I am just trying to put things in the right perspective before someone gets hurt. |
lastmessenger:My friend, as you very well know it is the Good Lord the does the fighting for us, we show lack of faith if we attempt to fight the battle that belongs to God, for the bible says that "we battle not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities". Don't let the devil trick you into fighting him physically by planting a voice in your head, telling to you use a weapon against one of his agents, because if you do, then you have lost the battle. God will abandon you. You should bind any voice that tells you to hurt someone in Jesus name. |
Weah96:My coven so happens to be free on that night, it will be my pleasure to have the match take place there. |
Lastmessenger, do you need any help from us in doing battle against AlfSeltzer? If you do, you can always count on me and a few other super heavyweight prayer warriors. |
Most people pay a tenth of their income to church not out of love for God but because they have been led by their pastor to believe that in doing so, God will continue to protect them from any misfortune. These pastors are effectively selling an insurance policy that covers bankruptcy, sickness, death, broken marriage and a whole bunch of other misfortunes, all for a ten percent premium of ones income. So contrary to the opinion expressed in some of the comments here, the tithes and offerings paid to these churches are not gifts in an altruistic sense, rather it is the premium paid for the insurance policy provided by God with the church/pastor as God's agent and salesman. Viewed from this perspective, it becomes easy to see how one can feel cheated if after diligently paying their tithes and offerings, they get hit by one or more misfortune that proved difficult to recover from, and the church which they believed to be the last point of refuge refused to shelter them from the worst of their calamity. My advice to people that pay tithe as a means of getting protection against the uncertainties of life is that they should put that money into a fixed deposit account, or look for a reputable and trusted insurance company and use that money to purchase a policy that is well tailored to the risk they fear the most. |
The truth is that it is difficult to understand something when your livelihood depends on your not understanding it. That is the reason why this thread could go on for as long as you guys are willing to engage them, and they still will be no closer to understanding why christians are neither obligated nor required to pay tithe. |
gatiano:I have no qualms with someone who does not eat pork because their religion forbids it, but to claim that eating pork makes someone stup!d is just not supported by fact. |
gatiano:The clever innovations that has made your life more comfortable than Muhammad could have ever imagined possible in his erotic heaven were made by people who eat pork. |
It is just a way of keeping the business and its profit in the family, that is why you see that if the business is large enough, they employ their children, brothers, sisters and inlaws, to help manage key positions and to head lucrative branch. |
nep2ra:In order to learn one has to be smart. Bidam's inabilty to learn has nothing to do with pride, he is just not smart enough. |
Bidam:Having lost his credibilty, Joagbaje was wise enough to quit this thread, while you, his servant is too daft to follow suit. |
queensley55:When you hear people give testimonies in church and make thanks giving to their pastor on account of their narrow escape from death, you get the sense that they are truly afraid of death. If heaven is real and tangible to them, then their testimonies would have been of how they almost made it to heaven, and they would not be giving thaks for missing out on heaven. Indeed, death is the enemy of all men, and the bible tells us that it is the last enemy that will be put under Jusus' feet. So until that time when the sting of death is no more, humans will continue to dread death for it is an enemy and not a friend that sends us to heaven on dying. |
chiketee:You are too right, muslims are the ones that needs enlightment on how to comform to our modern era. They should realise that the world doesn't revolve around them, that just as they have the right and the freedom to express their views so also do people of other faith and those of no faith. They think that it is ok to publicly ridicule the catholic cardinal belief in the trinity that Jesus is God (I also think the idea of trinity is crazy), but publicly denying Muhammad is messenger of God in a muslim majority country can can earn you a death sentence under their draconian blasphemy law. No matter how you spin it, Islam is becoming the modern day equivalent of the medieval European crusaders. |
Image123:The above statement is mean and insensitive. To take such a cheap shot at someone who is physically blind says a lot about the kind of person you really are. |
vooks:A very apt description. |
They reason like this. Givers never lack. Her financial difficulties stems from her refusal to continue giving. |
justoneday:It was just a dream that was probably triggered by some deep phobia you have of snakes. There is nothing spiritual about your dream, you just have a phobia for snakes, and you might have recently seen one or had cause to be afraid of a snake lurking around a dark place. You should not let it bother you at all. |
usermane:But why kill their fellow citizen for something that was done by unbelievers half way across the world? The irrational behaviour of muslims in general throughout the world leaves one with little reason not to come to the conclusion that islam is a violent religion. |
Weah96:At least I know that pastor chris cannot say no to stolen money. |
You should find another career while you still can, this church business has reached its peak and is beginning to contract. Pretty soon only the already established and well talented pastors will be able to make a decent living from church business. |
Sagamite:The whole drama of the danish cartoon was baffling to say the least. How can the publication of one obscure newspaper from Denmark cause muslims to kill their fellow non muslim citizens in muslim majority countries halfway across the world is something I am still trying to understand. Granted, Muhammad is held very dear to them, but why kill people who had nothing to do with the cartoon? One would think that a truly peaceful religion would teach its members how to exercise restraint in the face of provocation. |
Valued:I guess you heard this story from someone, who heard it from someone, who heard it from someone,........ who heard it from some that was there when it happened. Hmm, I believe you. Now I can't wait to tell another someone of a man who travelled for burial,.......... fell sick and died. |
charleff512:My one word answer is superstition. |
Abuamam:My point is that the atrocities committed by bokoharam in the name of Allah and his messenger Muhammad brings more reproach to muslims and their god, yet muslims as a group tend not to denounce them. But all it takes for muslims as a group to go berserk, is a silly cartoon of muhammad from one obscure newspaper. Does that not strike you as odd? |
Abuamam:Your analogy does not answer PastorKun's question because they are not the same. This is what PastorKun is asking you and all other muslims that are not slow to express outrage over a Muhammad cartoon but would stay silent no matter how egregious the atrocity committed in the name of Allah. Imagine a scenario where one random stranger makes a comedy skit about you beloved father that paints him in a negative light (Danish cartoon and Muhammad video). And another scenario where you own brother kidnapped and raped some school age girls, and bombed people going about their business in the market place claiming that it was your beloved father that instructed him to carry out those atrocities (Boko Haram and ISIS). Which case would you feel the need to denounce in the most vocal manner in order to protect the integrity of your fathers name. The one where a libelous comedy skit was made by a stranger who everyone knows has little knowledge about your father, or the one where somebody who answers the same name as you do claims that it was your father who instructed him to rape, kidnap and kill people? |
There are two main categories of people who speak in tongues. Those with the knowledge that everybody who speak in tongues are just making it up; and those who think that they are the only ones making it up. There is also a third category that is very small, they are the ones who are deluded enough to believe that the gibberish that comes out from their lips is pure gold. |
It has been quit a while my friend, where have you been hiding? I was beginning to fear that you might have fallen to the dark side. Well written post with very good points which no doubt will benefit any honest hearted christian that reads it. You were well and truly missed, try not to stay away for so long again. |
By spreadind outright lies that breeds ignorance for the sake of fame and profit, people like Joagbaje are helping to accelerate the spread of HIV in our country. I doubt if he is unaware of the damage his teaching is causing to adherents of his faith by giving them a moral platform to engage themselves in self deceit. Just imagine how this lie would have effectively extinguished any flicker of conscience that might have prevented Jeff from having unprotected sex with an ususpecting young woman. I don't know how people like Joagbaje are able to live with themselves after betraying the gospel for a few pieces of silver when Judas couldn't |
