vooks: I mean the way you put it. If it did happen, then that's a marvelous experience You sound like a smart person that is why it pains me that after following my post in another thread you could ever think for one moment that I meant the airplane story. Let me spell it out in no uncertain words, I don't believe in miracles, but it does not mean that if you tell me a fantastic tale without proof that I won't be able to match it with a tale of my own. So when someone made the audacious claim of driving a car on empty, I made an even more audacious claim of flying a plane on empty. |

vooks: It makes more sense because it is CARNAL and a belief that's highly devoid of God in it. It is intuitive and the most natural way to look at Jesus. I don't blame the criminal at the cross who mocked Jesus; all he saw was a fellow criminal crucified and he heard that he was a King. That's the natural shdemidemi-esque approach to God
The repenting thug who through the bloodied body saw a King and a Kingdom, that's another level. And he never hesitated to ASK. He received.
So it is really down to you to resign to fate and sovereignty.
Take it further, what;s the point of sharing the gospel? Doesn't God's will prevail in the end?
Never aks nothing because His will will prevail anyway but you can whine all you want to him because that's therapeutic. Don't even expect solutions. So if you don't pray for solutions are you praying for problems? You are still dodging the thrust of our argument which is, if what you say is true, then christians will be better off compared to those of other faith and no faith. The issue of carnality would only be applicable here if your views on prayer holds up to reality, that is ifthere was an obvious positive gap between the well being of christians compare to the well being of others. But as it turns out, your view of prayer does not fit with reality, hence the question why? |

vooks: Why then do you aks? I and shdemidemi are in agreement that God's will must alway come to be whether it pleases us or not, but where I disagree with him is that prayer is not just an empty chat to God that yeilds no tangible bennefits. When we pray for God's will to be done like Jesus did, the our father in heaven sends us his holy spirit to strenghten us in our resolve to do what we already know to be right even in the midst of extreme difficulties when others who are reliant on the strenght of their will alone would have long since caved in to follow the path of least resistance. My point is that the early apostles were able to persevere through hard times without losing faith because of the power of the holy spirit in them. The holy spirit did not make them rich neither dit it make them healthier or to outlive people of their time. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Joagbaje’s Miracle HIV Healing Claim Debunked by dorox(m): 1:09pm On Nov 17, 2014 |
vooks: let's see what we have learnt from you
1. I do not believe we should be going to God with a mindset that we want a problem solved.
2. He knows all you need for the journey He had prepared even before you were born. All those things you think you need are secondary, the primary assignment is to look for God and carry out His work
3. , asking is a part of prayer
4. I believe we are free to pour our minds to God, and ask whatever we choose to ask,
5. Sometimes we get better when we speak out. Instead of looking for that person to pour your out to or cry to, why not take it to God in prayers.
6. I ask when it feels like its so painful to suppress the pain within me,
So you should NEVER seek solutions to your problems in prayers because God already knows what you need but you should aks something in prayers because aksing is part of prayers and you are free to aks and pour out your heart especially since it feels better speaking out. That's why you should aks when you are painfully suppressing the pain within you. Just remember don't try to get solutions
You are confused. Totally shdemidemi's view of prayer is more consistent with what you and I observe daily in the lives of christians. How many time have you seen believers with a mountain of faith ask God for one one goody or the other without getting anything? If indeed you are right, christians would have less of everyday problems compared to people of other faith and no faith. But in truth, they have as much monetary worries as anyone else; the surfer broken marriages as much as anyone else; they surfer untimely death as much as anyone else. So statistically, they are not better off than anyone else, which would be surprising if not for the fact that the treasure promised to believers by Jesus are of the heavenly kind and not physical. |

vooks: Is there need for prayers? Why did Jesus pray overnight severally seeing His Father already knew what he needed? Have you considered that Jesus considered the task before him a difficult one? And knowing its significance and the cost of failure I think he was asking his father for the strenght to see it through. In other words, he was praying all night for his father's will to be done and not his. Which is in line with the important things that shdemidemi talked about; offering ourselves as a sacrifice to God. |

Walspring: “When God gave me that assurance that we will not die that He only wanted to have a conversation with me, I felt relaxed and as God would have it, the Lord took charge of the plane and we landed safely”.
In another related account, Pastor Adeboye explained that because of his previous experience which God took control of, he was not disturbed.
“In another of my travels, the pilot had announced that there would be a lot of storm at the arrival terminal going by the weather report. The implication is that there will be trouble while landing.
“When I heard that announcement, I knew God was in charge. I took the little meal they served because I ride in economy; but the man that sat beside me could not eat. I asked why he was not eating and he replied: ‘so you understand English; don’t you hear what the pilot just said that there will be a lot of storm at landing because of the bad weather.’
“I said I heard. He was confused thinking what kind of human being is this? But he insisted he was not going to eat. So I offered to help with his food since I was still hungry and he freely gave me the food.
“I ate the food and slept off. God took charge. By the time we were about to land, the pilot announced to us that the weather forecast was wrong. We got down safely. I looked at the face of the man sitting beside me and he looked at my face and laughed. But then the Lord told me that the weather forecast was not wrong that He was the one who diverted the storm”, he added.
I love the bold(ed) parts here What a great testimony! This just reminds me of the time when our plane ran out of fuel half way through the atlantic from Paris to New York. Come see how people begin panic as the pilot tell us say fuel don finish for both of the primary tanks located in the wings. Less than twenty minutes after the announcement of our impending doom, the cabin of the plane became eerily silent as both of the engines in the Airbus A330 (it was a twin engine plane) went dead, I swear, the silence was such that if a fly could fart, you would hear it. The pilot informed us that our rate of descent with respect to our position will leave us well short of the range to make landfall, so he will try to ditch the plane as close to land as possible which he estimate to be somewhere around 15 nautical miles off shore. So as the rest of the aircrew were busy giving emergency evacuation instructions with an urgency that was lacking when they gave the same instructions earlier on before take off. I just closed my eyes, and shut out their voices, and went into the spirit as I began blasting in tongues. Then, I channelled the power of the holy spirit in me to envelope the plane before commanding with a loud voice for both engines to restart. Na so both engines come take start to the surprise of the pilots and everyone on that flight. That was how everybody come join me begin sing "Hosanna in the highest" as we continue to dey cruise at 870 km/hr at an altitude of 10.75km above sea level for almost 2800 km without fuel. |

ZUBY77: Miracle means the happening of extra ordinary things. A mobile phone being able to connect you with someone in another country, that's miracle and I don't doubt it. The reason why I don't doubt it is this, people who manufactured the mobile phone, listed the plans and works right from day one to the end. That means that we know how it was done.
However, telling me that you called your brother in Germany without sim card or battery inside the mobile phone is not a miracle. It's a lie. The people who manufactured the phone said it is still not possible.
Now how do you reconcile a man driving a car without petrol, when the manufacturers said it's impossible? Is that a miracle or lie?
Cars have what we call injectors and carburetors,. This two things supply petrol to the engine to be able to stay alive. When the fuel supply stops, the engine dies. When the engine dies, the properla stops turning. When it stops turning, the car stops. This things are basic things you should know. These so called MOGs thrive on lies, their entire business is built on lies. |

louisinemo: This is not a fiction. It is what really happened to me personally. This is my personal testimony about tithe. You know what? What a man doesn't believe in cannot work for him. I have been a tithe giver for sometimes now. Though I stop paying tithe at a point, but praise God I have gone back to paying it because it worked for me.
Some months ago, I was seriously ill for days, such that I could not get out of bed. I was taken to both private and public teaching hospital, all to no avail. the doctor at the teaching hospital could not diagnose my illness, while seriously ill and looking like I was dying. Note that I consulted different doctors. All the drugs prescribed were not helping at all. My illness condition was getting worse. My people would only come back from work and check me on my sick bed, day after day doing the best they could.
One of the doctor at the teaching hospital personally made me to understand that my ailment was spiritual and not what medicine can do. You will agree with me that some doctors can see beyond the physical. He asked me, "what church do you attend?" "Redeemed I answered". He continue to tell me that there is a name. It is the name of God. The name is called "heuw". And that if I could pronounce that name "heuw" my sickness would go. I was like, "this man wants to initiate me o". I refused. Again seeing that I refused to yield, he asked me again. Because he new that I was a yoruba man and it was in PH . "Do you know Ijebu people?" "Try visit them, they will help you with some spiritual help". I refused to answer him. After that I was driven back home.
One day while I was agonizing on my sick bed, with serious, deep and fast breathing as if somebody was standing on my chest pumping it (I new some spirits were at work). And because the sickness was too much for me to bear, I started crying and praying at the same time.
Now hear the way I prayed. "Lord, you said that you will not test me with any plague of egypt. You said you will rebuke devourer for my sake if I pay my tithe. For these years I have been paying my tithe and i can pat my chest and be bold to tell You that I do not owe you any unpaid tithe. I know that i am not perfect, but as regards tithing, i am perfect because I pay tithe of every money that comes into my hand".
I was shedding tears profusely. All of a sudden (after around fifteen minutes of weeping and praying) a powerful strength came from no where and entered my body. And immediately and instantaneously I felt wellness in my body. This was me that could not stand up a minute ago. I stood up immediately. It was like a miracle(indeed it was). I jumped up severally to be really sure of what was happening to me. I lied down and I did press-up exercise severally. My joy witnessed no bound that evening. I marched straight to the sitting room. I saw my neighbours watching football match. I paraded myself before them shouting "I am healed praise God" " I am healed halleluyah" and jumping up and down and doing press-up as a proof of my healing. Low and behold they all looked at me with awe, not knowing what to say because they were surprised.
That was how the sickness that confined me to bed for complete six days, unable to do anything disappear without using drugs.
If you pay your tithe in obedience to the word of god, it is for your own good. A day will come that the tithe will speak for you, sooner of later. Something may not happen immediately now. But because you are ordinary human being, you cannot see into the future. If you were able to see into the future, you would love to pay more than tithe.
That is my own experience about what tithe can do. You may disapprove it if you like. The bible says whoever knows to do good, let him continue and whoever knows to do bad let him continue because a day will com when I will put a distinction between the two of them. That will be when your good will be supposed to speak for you. Another one of those silly made up stories to deceive gullible people into paying one tenth of their income to greedy MOGs as insurance from sickness and misfortune. And the sad thing about this scam is that the victims could have actually got a reasonable amount of cover against the various evils they pay tithe for, and a lump sum payment to their loved ones should death befall them if that wasted ten percent of income is paid to an actual insurance company. |
