To be fair, there is a difference between bribery and extortion. Not all who give police officers money are guilty of bribery.
To bribe implies that one is seeking an undue advantage from someone in a position of authority in exchange of something of value. It will be very wrong for any morally upright person to do that. On the other hand what do you do think of a situation where someone is stopped at a police check point in the middle of nowhere and despite having all the particulars required to drive, the police still insist on being paid what i call a "passage fee". Would you call it a bribe? I just think it is just plain extortion. True, paying such money only emboldens our uniformed highway thieves as well as ingraining it into our culture, but i can hardly blame anyone for making such a payment out of concern for thier personal safety.

Christianity EtcAdam And Eve: A Tragic Love Story by dorox(op):
At first blush, the story of Romeo and Juliet might not seem all that similar to that of Adam and Eve, but in fact they are quite close, sharing the same themes of sacrifice and defiance, of passionate love and total devotion to each other such that living life without the other becomes worse than death.
The Romeo and Juliet story is well known, so i won't be dwelling on it as much as that of Adam and Eve that is relatively unknown.
Recall that Adam became sad and despondent because he was lonely, there was none of his kind in the beautiful garden he could relate with and imagine how he must have felt on seeing Eve for the first time to have exclaimed; bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh! It was indeed love at first sight.
Adam ate the fruit not because he was naive of the outcome,he new that eating it comes with a death sentence for the scripture tells us in 1Tim 2:14 that the man was not deceived. If he wasn't deceived, why did he eat the fruit? The answer is simple, Eve had already eaten the fruit(poison) that brings death and knowing that she was going to die, Adam made the fatal decision to die with her rather than to live in God's beautiful garden forever without his Eve.
Adam loved Eve more than God and life to him was meaningless without Eve, so he rebelled against God, choosing to die with his wife rather than facing life alone and unhappy.
Their love in many ways was like that of romeo and Juliet. It was deep, it was passionate and it was total. And like Romeo and Juliet, it was also selfish, self-centered and very irresponsible the sacrifice they were willing to make on account of their love irrespective of the effect it might have on others.

You are suffering from the worst kind of poverty- poverty of reasoning.

yoged: As far as my money isn't there. Aint my business. Its for God to judge not human.
It is this kind of reasoning that is preventing nigeria from developing as a nation, it makes the people not to speak with the collective power of one voice, but with as many discordant voices as there are people too weak and too confused to be heard by their oppressors rulers.
A community thrives better when its members understand that they exist not as many individual islands, but as one large landmass. It is more prosperous when its wealth is measured by how rich the poorest among them are rather than the rich.
To belong to a community means looking out for your neighbor's interest even if it does not directly concern you. It means crying foul anytime there is foul play even when it's not your game.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is The State Of The Dead? by dorox(m):
Bobbysworld28: If God's word to Adam is dt he returns 2 lifelessness, wht abt d parable abt Lazarus & d rich man? Remember dt after Jesus died Spirits of dead before came out. It is believed dt they r cloud of witnesses dt went up with Jesus as he ascended.
Is it possible dt they were somewhere else apart from heaven?
The rich man as you said was a parable, it wasn't a real event in the same way that the talking sheep and goats in Jesus' other parable never really spoke because they weren't real events, they symbolise something. As for having a cloud of witnesses ascending with jesus, you will have to ask those who say so for the scriptures that led them to that belief. My thought on it is that the people present at his Ascension were enough witness.

Bobbysworld28: @dorox
Close out ur case. U left me hanging there
@muskeeto
Duly noted. I won't quote scripture 4 u because u no b christian. I will take u up on dis on anoda thread
God described death to Adam as a return to the lifeless state he was before he was created. If there is a soul that transcends death, that would have been a good time for God to tell him the fate of his soul after dying. But as it was, his only punishment was death, from dust to dust.
In Jesus words, "no man has ascended up to heaven but the Son of man that descended to earth." Looking at that statement, it should tell you that none of the dead before he came have gone to heaven, they still remained as dust.
Until He calls out with a loud voice and awaken those that would hear his voice, everybody remains as dust.
Christianity EtcRe: What Is The State Of The Dead? by dorox(m): 8:05am On Apr 10, 2013
In describing death to Adam, God told him that "from dust dust you were and to dust you shall return."
How do you think that Adam understood that statement? That he has in immortal soul that can never die even after being cut off from God's life sustaining spirit? Or would he have understood the statement to mean that having been cut off from God's life sustaining spirit, he would gradually revert back to the same lifeless state that he was (dust) before he was created? Just like an electric fan on full blast gradually coming to a halt soon after it's power supply is cut off.
Christianity EtcRe: On Demonic Afflictions by dorox(m):
I do recall being told stories of very powerful witch doctors that could afflict their enemies with smallpox, but the funny thing is that the eradication of the disease from the world appears to have brought an apparent end to people of such powers.
Any thoughts as to why, other than the fact that such claims were in deed false?

I'm sure he misses logicboy and he's not alone, you can count me among those who would like to see logicboy back in nairaland.
This is my post about him when i nominated him as religious poster of the year.
My vote goes to Logic boy, because i think he is the person whose absence from Nairaland would be felt the most. We may love him or hate him but we all seem to have an opinion of him one way or the other, good or bad, but never boring.
There are quite a good number of people who make naira land an interesting place to hang out and in my opinion logicboy is number one, that is why i am voting for him. My vote is in no way an endorsement of his belief or lack of belief but as a recognision of his contribution to this forum.

Christianity EtcRe: Sleep Paralysis or Being 'Pressed' At Night - Natural or Supernatural? by dorox(m): 8:56am On Apr 05, 2013
wiegraf: Here's some more crap...

You make posts like these, pissing all over our reputation, then complain about people labeling us low IQ'd? My good eediot, you're the very reason other races laugh at us.

Let me make this clear, you do not speak for all of us. And your insinuation that the scientific method is 'oyinbo' is simply ridiculous, my good bushman. Are you saying black man is incapable, and should not be proud of being able to use, simple reason? Only oyinbos can use the scientific method? Black man cannot get into a lab and do these things himself neh? You do seem bent on using your foolishness to prove that point though, I'll give you that.

Ok, ok, let's examine our history a bit. Your jazz men's method of inquiry (which you seem to think is superior to the 'oyinbo' one, aka the simple scientific method, or common sense), has always been... interesting?

For instance, they killed some goats, danced around, did some cold reading (if they even bothered), smoked something, then armed our ancestors with spiritual bullet proof vests. They don't seem to have worked, the vests all failed spectacularly and we were duly colonized and enslaved.

I can only imagine the vests didn't work because oyinbo man's guns weren't spiritual. Their guns and bullets were very, very real, scientifically confirmed and tested. Just like the medicine you so hypocritically use immediately you fall sick, the tv system which entertains you, the computing devices that help you do your work, the engineering behind cars, etc, etc. All the good things the scientific method has given you.

Now, after being battered by the white devil in such a fashion, a rational man would reason that invisible, intangible, nonexistent bullet proof vests work only against invisible, intangible, nonexistent bullets, no? But here's the best part, even after the white man showed quite a lot of our ancestors these guns, showed them how they work, maybe even showed them how to build them, explained all the physics and whatnot behind it, guess what? Some of them still insisted that they lost the wars because......the white man's jazz was superior.

We now return to the modern day, were the descendents of these proud warriors with inferior jazz to the oyinbo's are debating the scientific method and spirits. Observe, what I posted earlier

In other words, they've been able to stop sleep paralyses, they've demonstrated they have an understanding of how it works and have even manipulated it, they have provided natural explanations, they can reproduce their results, etc, etc, yet here you are still claiming spirits did it?

Really, wtf is wrong with you?

As for some potential candidates to explain your mysterious, ojuju inflicted scars other than the obviously not culpable sleep paralyses, here;

Note, sleep disorders, not just sleep paralyses. And people usually have more than just one of these disorders, here's wiki

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Google the bolded if you don't know what they are. In other words, any of these things could potentially cause scars. And like already stated earlier, you wouldn't have been able to notice anything because you were.....asleep. The doctors who've studied this condition though, have never documented spirits scratching anyone before. But of course, you don't trust them as;

Interesting? So to what aim would they hide this jazz if they've ever encountered it? Are you suggesting they are colluding with the spirits?

I'll ignore the fact that to compound on your already rank hypocrisy I pointed out earlier, you also follow oyinbo gods blindly, without any proof, and accept them as the most powerful, respectable beings in this universe. This while the gods of your ancestors have nothing better to do than become winchies. You do this yet have the gall to claim others, after using their brains to examine the evidence no less, blindly follow 'oyinbo'.

Just, oga, please stop reducing our collective IQ. Even chimps would be laughing at us....
Ahh, too much english....
I think it is bad manners quoting a lengthy post only to make a short reply, but not in the case of this gem by wiegraf. It deserves to be Quoted in full a thousand times and given a million likes for its sheer beauty.
It is my hope that donlyone and his ilk have enough sense to understand what you have written, otherwise the time and effort you used in creating this beautiful write up would have been in vain.
