What about the thousands that have died on their way to and from church crusades? Or the guy whose baby was stolen from church? I guess going by your logic, one can argue that it is far more beneficial and safer to stay at home instead of travelling on our dangerous roads in December to attend those cross over services. |
GeneralShepherd: Back in school, I had seen a guy that was shot and cut severally with a machete by the opposing cult group to no avil, after we all ran away he was found dead with no physical injury and a dislocated neck.Anyone who has had the misfortune of being in the vicinity of gun violence will tell you that the scene is always very chaotic with frightened people running helter skelter for their dear lives. But in your case you were brave enough to stick around, all the while eyeballing the perpetrators as they continue to shoot and hack at their victim. Can someone tell me that I'm not alone in thinking that it is very unlikely that he was a witness to the incident he claimed to have seen. |
After one hundred pages of intense debate, it should be pretty clear to you guys that it is not easy to understand something when your very livelihood depends on you not understanding it. Make una leave OLAADEGBU alone o, he is only trying to defend his interest. Whether it is scriptural is secondary, belle comes first. |
Demain_man: I am not saying it is real or not. I was just casting that doubting 'christian' Ukuts gp:. Jesus said 'blessed are those who hasn't seen, yet believe' yet some fanatical christian brothers are playing doubting Thomases here because their 'Holy-Spirited' filled Oga @ the top pastor hasn't commanded them to go and wash in the river. As per the bolded. In what way is Adeboye or TB Joshua qualified to verify if indeed the water has healing properties. Are the doctor? Or maybe they have a degree I virology or some related field? If not, then they are no better than the clueless common man. |
What ailment has the healing water cured so far? How many of all the supporters of this miracle water have had a first hand experience of its healing powers? Have you questioned yourself to determine if your basis for believing in the potency of this water is reasonable before trying to convince others? Anyone who believes this story without having answered the questions above is a fool. |
I though that the wages sin pays is death. |
How do guys peddle stinking shite to unsuspecting desperate people and still able to sleep at night? Surely, even if you don't believe in God to the extent that you see nothing wrong in selling false hope on the basis of God's name, your conscience should at least trouble you a bit when you see the way your victims wail and scream in prayers in the vain hope that some good will touch their lives after parting with some money that could have been better spent on food, and wasting valuable time going through your programme that could have been used for more up building activities. The atheist do not believe in God, but at least they seem to have a conscience. |
shortgun: D things of d spirit is foolishness to d canal man.People like you have been making sacrifices for years without anything to show for it. But the only one reaping rich reward is the pastor and his minions that feed off his falling crumbs. Unless you are a pastor or one of his minions, don't you think it's time you start making use of that brain and put yourself to work instead of hoping somehow money would fall on your lap. |
RFID chip is not the mark of the beast, it is too obvious to be. But what is not so obvious and actually is the mark of the beast, is mobile phones. It has all kinds of chips inside including RFID chips, you are also assigned a number that is unique to you alone, and without it you just cannot function in todays world. Think about it, can you leave your house without your mobile phone? i guess not. Now with smart phones the government can listen on you and track your location at any time without your knowledge. End time is here. How did i do? ![]() I seem to be getting better at this conspiracy stuff, perhaps I'm naturally talented for it. |
I did not know that. Give me a shout when you wake up. |
Kei144:So what happens when the healing doesn't come? My friend, if you or someone close to you should fall ill don't leave it till late before taking proper action. Just know that the super heavy weight men of 'God that you look up to whose books inspires you on matters of faith dey also swallow tablets. |
djeezy: I'd rather live my whole life assuming there is a God, only to find out that there isn't, than to live my whole life assuming there isn't a God, only to find out there is. Sometimes we all feel like giving up, we ask questions and sometimes we don't find the answer. Bear in mind that nothing good comes easily.Pascal's wager which you quoted fails on the ground that it is not a simple binary choice as to whether you serve God or not because there are many gods, most of which demands exclusive devotion. So if you are faithful to one, it invariably means that you are unfaithful to the others. But the main reason why I think it fails is that the only justification it gave for serving God is the avoidance of Hellfire irrespective of how appealing you find the attributes of that God. In other words even if the God you know is a monster, and you hate the attributes of that God with your whole being, just suck it up and follow the rituals of worship to avoid Hellfire after death in case it exist. I believe our reason for worship should be way more than that, as Jesus said, worship should be done out of love. |
sweetestguy: bro are u a christian?I am a christian. I hope do come across as one. |
A minute on google and you know its not true. The rumor started from one obscure christian anti-islamic end of days website. Kind of surprised that Osun Defender published the story from that kind of source. |
Kei144: That is just another way of saying that very few Christians live by the Spirit. That is why end-time tribulations are very necessary in order for a sizable number of Christians to make the rapture. During the end-time tribulations the amount of crisis in the world will be such that medicine will be hard to come by. Many of the things we take for granted now will not be easily reachable. Then, people will take faith more seriously in order to stay alive. The man giving the lecture travels abroad for treatment, find me someone who would rather pray for his child when the child has common malaria. |
sandra anakebe: NopeSince your answer is no, how then do you know that those miracles are not fake? If miracles abound why do some of them build hospitals that charges a lot? why do they go to good hospitals abroad for treatments. Ask yourself what they stand to gain if the miracle business is all a lie. the answer to the last question will open your mind to some other questions. |
aManFromMars: Oga DVery well my friend. How is your ministry? You guys seem to be gaining converts. Two of my friends who used to view me as odd and daring for raising questions about belief and the bible years ago when i was the skeptic and they were the bible thumpers asked me yesterday if i truly believe that the bible is God's word. They laughed at me when I told them yes and said that I must be joking. I did feel bad and partly responsible because one of them said that I sowed the seeds of doubt in him nearly ten years ago when we used to argue about faith. The funny thing is that I had the minority view then among the three of us and I still have the minority view now though a different one from before. |
sandra anakebe: Wow...why did you say so?Do you know of any amputee that have been healed? Or is miraculous healing only for headaches and nameless people? |
Christ's Treasury Church of God. Aka Prosperity for all ministry |
quivah: i believe this is the work of the Holy spirit to inspire whatever name!Naivete is not a virtue, open your eyes. |
sweetestguy: We never asked him to create usIf you can believe in your God without asking some hard questions and finding satisfactory answers to those questions, then you can believe in any God. To ask question is a good thing, it strengthen ones faith and helps to prepare for the defense of your faith when questioned. |
How many 'bible thumping born again' will confidently put medicine aside and opt for faith healing when they fall sick? Even the so called pastor delivering that lying lecture goes abroad for treatment, their entire family have access to first class medical facilities abroad. They sell you their faith pill for a fat profit to send their wives abroad for treatment with real pill. |
Guyman, let us know if you can't afford your meds any longer. |
GeneralShepherd: He was shot if I remember correctlyIt's so sad to hear that he is dead. I hope whoever shot him was brought to justice. |
Most Nigerians see religion as a means to an end, the juju that assists them in getting whatever it is they desire irrespective of the means by which it was obtained, be it ethical or not. Such people do not care if an action is inherently right or wrong as long as it works for them. When they get to a society that enjoys a relatively far higher level of peace, security and prosperity, they begin to see that God is not needed for them to travel safely, put food on their table or get a world class medical care only available to senators back home. But for those who see religion as a way of life that establishes a relationship with their God both in good times and bad times and not as a means to bribe God in other to win material favor, getting to Europe would have very little impact on their faith |
cold: Oops! I just saw a comment by bawomolo & discovered something wasn't right that was when i looked at the date..sighWhat happened to bawomolo? |
Wahala90: You wen no take your own flourish pastors, wetin you come take better? Mumu advocate! Why the insult? Abi you or someone in you family be pastor? You are better off getting an honest wage instead of conning people to live like a lord. |
italo: Why do you think the dead are worse-off?I'm sure that apart from any suicidal person that may have been there, all who perished fought their hardest until the last moment to stay alive. To the orphaned survivor,or the newly wedded widow, I am sure that they will think you stupid if you ask them that question. |
italo: I wouldn't know why he did that...but I would most likely have a bad impression of him.My point is that it is silly to think that Jesus and Mary are so vain to save statues fashioned by men who doesn't even know how they must have looked like over thousands of innocent children. Those statues survive because they where well built as well as having a low drag coefficient on account of their relatively narrow profile compared to a house. |
@italo: What would you say to a man who heroically enters a burning building with lots of people trapped inside, including women and children only to come out some moments later proudly holding a statue of himself that he went through all that trouble to save, leaving those trapped in the building to their own fate? Would you tell people of his heroic feat in saving his statue, or would you call him a wicked man with seriously misplaced priority? |
It only goes to show that if they had built their houses as solidly as that lifeless statue, perhaps their houses would still be standing with fewer lives lost in the typhoon. The same thing happens here when struggling families sacrifice a lot to fund the lavish life style of their pastors in the vain hope that God would somehow reward them for such gross foolishness when they should instead be thinking of how to get the maximum utility from their income. |
Is this the same man whose first wife, Stella Oritsejafo died in a suspiciously unusual circumstance in the bath tub? And the pastor husband claiming that she died from being diabetic even though no postmortem was done on her body. |
