A real sport involves this kind of physical contact.

Violence at its sublime best hahahahahahaha

Its a thin line btw being open minded on one hand and being for want of a better word convictionless.

He reminds me so much of Naija politicos albeit a better looking one.

Seun:
With the current state of technology, there is no reason why we cannot become more involved in governance. We are not babies; we do not need them making decisions for us that will cost us our precious lives.

But technology will not unify all our views into one. A politician has to stand for one position and not try to appease every single position, and when he find out he can't, takes the position of least resistance or does nothing at all.
Music/Radio › Illmatic-greatest Hip Hop Album by doyin13(op): 8:17pm On Jul 22, 2007
I don't know any album that can emulate the hunger, delivery and wordplay of Illmatic.

Every single track on the album is tight.

Epitome of what HipHop should be

Nas I salute you
Politics › Re: Why Do People Love Clinton? by doyin13(op): 7:48pm On Jul 22, 2007
That is the thing about convictions especially when people with power have them

They portend changes. They don't leave their environments unchanged.

Those without convictions on the other hand and simply reduce politics to a level of appearance, and base their decisions on any way the wind blows leave static societies.

That they should align their decisions to the will of the ppl. That would be alright if we can determine what the will of the ppl is.

The only way we can determine that is if we have a daily plebiscite but that is neva going to happen.

So in the interim between elections, we must let and trust our politicians to do what we elected them to do- Make Decisions.

I wonder what happened to black men simply getting a fade.

Rather than trying to look like bloody sissies

Foreign Affairs › Re: How Is Nelson Mandela An Africa Hero? by doyin13(m): 5:45pm On Jul 22, 2007
@Champredd

You are castigating Mugabe for the exact reasons that he should be hailed a hero.

Those lands do not belong to the whites. Imagine the anomalous situation where in a land 90% populated by black ppl should have the land 90% owned by white immigrants.

They were also acquired forcefully as well.

While I dont care for Mugabe at all, and probably the manner of seizure left a lot to be desired,

ultimately, it is the thought that counts grin
Romance › Re: Nigerian Men Who Date White Women by doyin13(m): 5:40pm On Jul 22, 2007
I more often than not don't fancy white women.

When I have slept with them, it has been induced by a night of drinking.

On the other hand I have been appreciative of a few who have had 'bunda' wink characteristics
Politics › Re: Why Do People Love Clinton? by doyin13(op): 5:33pm On Jul 22, 2007
But at least Bush has convictions.

It would have been easy for him to pull out of Iraq as shit has hit the fan.

I may not agree with his principles but at least he has some.

Clinton's principles on the other hand are two a penny.

Faced with a similar situation in Somalia, he could not get out fast enuff. And u know how the story over there,

Soccer players with their diving and sissy haircuts/styles rather(especially those French based black players) is now effeminate.

Have you seen Drogba roll on the floor after being given a slight touch.

In Rugby, they don't wear no sissy haircuts, and when you go down it is because you have been hit hard.

And when you see the All Blacks perform the haka, you appreciate the sport
Sports › Are Pro Evo Makers Man U Supporters? by doyin13(op): 4:41pm On Jul 22, 2007
Is it me or is the Man U team in Pro Evo simply too good.

My Flat mate has used Scholes and Ronaldo to ridicule me.

Quite unrealistic really. Imagine Ronaldo can actually cross and pass properly in the game. Nonsense.

Typical Man U. They and their supporter are able to worm their way into every little crevice of our world, virtual or real.

Does anyone remember the NTA programme with the likes of Madam Kofo and others I can't remember.

It was loosely or wholly base rather on the British comedy 'Mind Your Language'

Interesting fact- The British one is now regarded as racist and very unfunny.

All very PC if you ask me.

I think the answer from naira4doll is typical of the warped minds of Africans.

I actually find redsun's suggestion very refreshing.

In fact I recommend that if such a technology is found then it should not only be relegated to rural areas alone.

Men I find the whole architecture of Naija very vulgar. What you see are houses with all sorts of angles masquerading as modern architecture.

The houses do not suggest any relation to their environment at all.

Compare that with the Carribean where they have a particular colonial style which has a specific relation woith their history.

In Britain also they also integrate a modern style while incoporating the traditional British style in their buildings.

But for Naija everything just upside down.
Literature › Why I Don't Like 'half Of A Yellow Sun' by doyin13(op): 1:43pm On Jul 22, 2007
Despite my crush on the author, I actually don't like the book.

Considering this was meant to be a book about the sixties, it was strangely very modern, like it could have been the nineties. Kaineine is a very modern character and I doubt they would have been many like her in the sixties.

The love story at the centre of the book I found also unconvincing and frankly treading on familiar ground. I know I have definitely heard the story of the modern couple who are haunted by the antagonistic traditionalmo mother in law who gets a local girl to get pregnant by the man bla bla bla.

Why she decided to posit Richard the white man as one of the main voices is also strange and I found him a strange fit throughout the book.

Ugwu the houseboy was very interesting though, and the rape scene at the end was probably the most convincing aspect of the book.

I also feel she should avoid the sexual innuendos especially in a sixties context. There was simply too much sex or sexual references in the book.

I can understand why she got the Orange Prize, especially when the judges are unfamiliar with Naija environment.

But for someone like me who has heard the story many times, it was somewhat boring.

My crush still remains though.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Pastor Kumuyi Our Best Holiness Preacher? by doyin13(m): 1:28pm On Jul 22, 2007
I guess he simply has a different marketing strategy to other pastors.

His style is more to peddle austerity. The religion of SAP.
Politics › Why Do People Love Clinton? by doyin13(op): 1:23pm On Jul 22, 2007
It seems it is not only Naija that the political minds are upside down.

I wonder how a sexual philanderer who had no major policy impact to speak of could inspire such devotion.

And I hear he is doing great charity work in Africa. That same Africa where he ordered bombings when President to take attention away from his troubles at home.

I guess a handsome face and sweet tongue can get you anything.

Now his wife wants to become President.

God save us.
Career › Re: Is Management An Art Or Science ? by doyin13(m): 1:07pm On Jul 22, 2007
Different management practices imply some art or some science.

Some managers have been successful using tools of fear to great effect. The most obvious example are the old communist societies of the Soviet Union and
China.

Other managers are very liberal and possess a bit of charisma. The religious institutions come to mind.

Yet other managers are devoid of charisma but are great an thorough administrators. They are very adept at taking care of the nuts and bolts.

If only the North of Nigeria could get itself together this is the kind of publicity they should b creating not some sharia business.

God bless Mali.
Sports › Football Or Rugby? by doyin13(op): 3:31am On Jul 22, 2007
Before you castigate me I mean American Footbal, which I think is a sissy sport with all the padding they wear.

Rugby on the other hand is a proper man's sport, bruising physical contact at its very best.

Besides they dont stop every fifteen seconds like in American Football, and when you see THE All Blacks play some flowing rugby,
I wonder y they pay rugby players so little comapared to their American counterparts.

To think that two years ago this guy was the face of the nfl.

Now the falcons can't wait to rush him out of town.

At least now, if he is suspended or goes on 'leave', he will have more time to practice how to throw the ball and quaterback properly rather than be a second running back in team formations.

Good guitarist tho.

Should have stuck to music.

Selassie helped win World war 2. You give me jokes

Formed the OAU- an organisation akin to a JAWS with no teeth.

mobilised Independence. Shame they did not have the foresight to arrange for what would come afterwards.

By the way. He was sidelined by one common Army Officer, Mengistu, conspiracy or no conspiracy.

Give me Toure's blues, Soyinka's bombast, Fela's activism or Achebe's authentic African voice anyday.
Politics › Re: Dollar Salaries: Court Orders Okonjo-iweala, Adeniji To Refund N206m by doyin13(m): 9:42pm On Jul 21, 2007
I dont know how it works in Nigeria, but in other constituencies e.g America and Britain
the coterie of officials and special advisers wield a lot of power. Their salaries are quite arbitrary as well especially in the Uk.

This sort of arrangement would have been apt here.
Politics › Re: Dollar Salaries: Court Orders Okonjo-iweala, Adeniji To Refund N206m by doyin13(m): 9:29pm On Jul 21, 2007
The whole thing is just silly.

I am sure they could still have employed them in another capacity while still paying them the sums they got.

Would have saved us from all this wahala.
