Well I trying to make a point, that there is no standard that is universal to judge this thing.

And the more we are varied in our cult worship, the easier it is for us to avoid the prospects of genocide. remember Ojukwu and the Sardauna .

By the way y pick on only Soyinka from the list.

Do u agree with the other three then.
Foreign Affairs › Re: How Is Nelson Mandela An Africa Hero? by doyin13(m): 9:09pm On Jul 21, 2007
I am not one for cult worship so Mandela or the Emperor, I really don't give a toss.

On the other hand if I were boxed into a corner- these are my choices:

1 Ali Farka Toure

2 Fela

3 Wole Soyinka

4 Chinua Achebe

in no particular order

There is something very selfindulgent about all the unite Africa proclaimers.

You can now add Gaddafi to their list.

The whole idea is as preposterous as Marcus Garvey buying rickety ships to transport african americans to africa.

As preposterous as Cotton in Harlem grin
Politics › Re: Should Babangida Be Put On Trial by doyin13(m): 8:25pm On Jul 21, 2007
Obj never laughed while carrying out his misdemeanours.

I remember on the day the Orkar men were executed. The picture of IBB with a grin on his face on that day is very indicative of evil.
Sports › Re: Let Us All Support Samuel Peters by doyin13(m): 7:56pm On Jul 21, 2007
I would support him if only he could box.

THe guy looks like a big piece of hard dough bread.

Heavy weight boxing sucks right now anyway.
Sports › Cricket Or Baseball by doyin13(op): 7:53pm On Jul 21, 2007
Cricket or Baseball

I feel I am in the minority who like cricket and cant understand in the life of me y you would want to watch baseball.

For one they are more intricacies to the game of cricket either batting or bowling.

Batsmen can either play the sweep, the cover drive or down the field. they can move down the pich as well to play their shot.

In bowling, you have the inswingers and vice versa, spin and fast bowling, the dhoosra of mulitharan or the googly of shane warne.

the bating in baseball is so one dimensional its ridiculous. just power and more power.

The pitching is a bit varied, but unsurprisingly it is the fastball bowlers that dominate.

Give me cricket any day.

I suggest Tinubu square for the public spectacle.

What surprises me is the ineptitude of the security services.

If it was a close knit group of say ten thieves repeatedly stealing a la Anini and co. I would find it understandable that they can terrorise and difficult to catch.

But a case of fifty, thirty people suggests that they are vulnerable to infiltration.

The security services should have ears on the ground, spies that can stop this nonsense.

some legends are not worth disputing. this is definitely one of them.

Apart from his prison exploits, he did what Africans have struggled to do in the post colonial era- Give up power.

Many men can face down Obstacles, but few men can handle power.

Mandela I salute you

I know Half of a yellow sun recently won the Orange Prize, but I found the use of flashbacks a bit awkward in the book

I felt a bit manipulated, and thought it a bit disingenuous on her part.

When will you guys keep arguing about things that you cannot affect.

All this jingoism, ethnic sentiment for the sake of what.

I have long since discovered that as a Yoruba man, I am as likely to be bleeped over by a fellow Yoruba as I am an Ibo.

So if any idiot comes to me to come and serve this or that cause, or respect the sacrifices of some dead people, the minimum price for my involvement will be I billion. Then it would be worth it.
Politics › Re: Ex Warlord: Ojukwu Collapses In Church by doyin13(m): 7:39pm On Jul 16, 2007
The tragic thing about Ojukwu is that his halcyon days were decades ago.

But for different circumstances, he might still be serving the country today.

A great shame.

I mean it only equates to about 20 million pounds.

Kaka is more of a threat becos he is one of the fastest players in the world.

Riquelme is beta at holding the ball, and more pleasant to watch really.
