obayaya:The president is answerable to the people as mandated in his over 15 million majority votes, not the senate. The Constitution empowers the senate to only make laws and carry out oversight functions, within the limits of the constitution.!!!! Oversight function does not include forcing the president to sack an acting chairman of EFCC,(in breach of section 171 of the constitution), in whom he trusts to deliver his promises to the electorates! The principles of representation should be applied in line with the constitution. The senate is representing the people,in respect of law making and oversight functions only, whilst the president is representing the people in respect of executive functions. |
castrokins:People like you just talk with leaking mouths,no supporting evidence or authority to back up your senseless comments. Is forcing a president to sack an executive part of Senate independence? Is that not actually a breach of executive independence ?Which law has Buhari not obeyed concerning this matter? There is no case of rubber stamping here. The senate had exercised its right not to confirm MAGU. President Buhari is exercising his own right to retain MAGU as the acting EFCC chairman,in accordance with section 171 of the constitution. Legal illiterate like you should note that the constitution is superior to any senate rules or resolution. The senate is not the law,the law comprises of the Constitution and an Act of parliament!!! Now Who is bulling who?: 1.A senate that wants to blackmail the president to sack acting EFCC chairman, contrary to section 171 of the constitution ? 2.or a president that is exercising his powers under section 171 of the constitution. 171. (1) Power to appoint persons to hold or act in the offices to which this section applies and to remove persons so appointed from any such office shall vest in the President. (2) The offices to which this section applies are, namely - (a) Secretary to the Government of the Federation; (b) Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; (c) Ambassador, High Commissioner or other Principal Representative of Nigeria abroad; (d) Permanent Secretary in any Ministry or Head of any Extra-Ministerial Department of the Government of the Federation howsoever designated; and (e) any office on the personal staff of the President. (3) An appointment to the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation shall not be made except from among Permanent Secretaries or equivalent rank in the civil service of the Federation or of a State. (4) An appointment to the office of Ambassador, High Commissioner or other Principal Representative of Nigeria abroad shall not have effect unless the appointment is confirmed by the Senate. (5) In exercising his powers of appointment under this section, the President shall have regard to the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity. (6) Any appointment made pursuant to paragraphs (a) and (e) of subsection (2) of this section shall be at the pleasure of the President and shall cease when the President ceases to hold office; Provided that where a person has been appointed from a public service of the Federation or a State, he shall be entitled to return to the public service of the Federation or of the State when the President ceases to hold office. |
TippyTop:You are totally wrong. Sagay upheld his integrity for peanuts. There is every pride in supporting Buhari. The fact that you do not support Buhari does not make you a man of integrity, talking only from your own perspective is mischief. How on earth can a senate abandon its responsibilities to force a president to sack an executive?Very soon they would be passing resolution, forcing the president to sack certain ministers. They can as well take over the role of the president! Separation of powers has giving the power of confirmation of a substantive chairman,to the senate, whilst the power to appoint an acting EFCC chairman for as long as feasible lies with the president. Section 171 of the constitution is very clear. Receive some sense! |
Mentcee:Why a forum will allow treasonable comments like this still baffles me. Seun and his cohorts would be more comfortable banning me than banning imbeciles like this OP and the idiots that clicked like for an obviously defaming trash on a whole president of the federal republic of Nigeria. I do not mind being banned, but I think the moderator that brought this treasonable comment to the front page must also be AN IDIOT. For God's sake, what has Buhari got to do with this? And a very useless moderator will allow comments like this to be published to the whole world on a front page, yet I could be banned for my own comments. What a shame all in the name of traffic. There are some basic common-sensical social responsibility a forum like this should uphold. Trash like this should not be allowed on the person of the first citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria. We can criticize our leaders, and also overlook some derogatory comments, but for a moderator to deliberately allow this type of opinion poll on the person of the president of a nation,is to say the least stupid. Rubbish. |
A renowned comedian, Ali Baba, has said that he started making his millions as a stand-up comedian in the late 90’s when the profession was still in its developing stage in the country. Ali Baba said on Monday in Lagos that comedy business started paying off when people knew little about the profession. “When I got my first endorsement and I was paid about N82,000, someone who saw me with the cheque asked what I do for a living and when I said I am a comedian he was baffled. “The person did not even have an idea that I had got an endorsement from Guinness Nigeria Plc that was worth about N1.2 million. We don’t need to shout over this. “The pay from show business is pronounced because some of the younger ones now flaunt their wealth unduly,’’ he said. Ali Baba added that he was now on another platform and not the regular one people used to see him on. “I still crack jokes but people won’t see me on the platform they are used to. “I will be 30 years on stage next year, so I have moved on from the platform people used to see me. I have to leave the platform for upcoming actors. “It is like a bank structure where there is a cashier attending to costumers, after 20 years you don’t expect to see that cashier still counting money behind the counter. “When I started, it was only Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), now we have many television stations and radio stations so the platform is bigger and wider,’’ the ace comedian said. Ali Baba told NAN that he was more into mentoring budding entertainers on the business side of showbiz. “The thing I do is that I teach by example, a lot of them have watched me perform; professionalism is key and talent is important. “It is important that you develop your talent, when talent becomes a service that is when people will require it. Nobody will buy a talent if it is not for service. “I teach other comedians to be humble, focused and think ahead. I expect that others should beat my strides. “My strides are like foundation for a lot of comedians to grow with but with recent technology, the platform is now wider and accommodating,’’ he said. Ali Baba said that the current lull in the show business should be a wakeup call for entertainers to be more creative with the profession. “As a comedian, you need a lot of information which is why we have a lull in the industry now, people don’t create jokes anymore, but are looking for people’s joke. “It is a wake up for emerging market and for comedians to improve on their act every time and read. “Once you have information you will grow, so, I teach a lot of them to seek for information which is the only way to sustain them in the profession,’’ he said. NAN reports that Ali Baba, born Atunyota Alleluya Akorobomerere is a versatile entertainer, a stand-up comedian of great repute, radio show host, motivational speaker and actor. https://businessafricans..com.ng/p/entertainmentbiz.html |
Mariatu Turay braided hair to survive when she was homeless and penniless after fleeing war-torn Sierra Leone at the age of 16. Now she is prominent in London's African community as an entrepreneur with her own fashion boutique and believes her story demonstrates that anyone can follow their dream. Turay was born in London, the daughter of a Sierra Leone government official. But was raised in Freetown in the west African nation until being sent to America with her mother and brothers at the age of 16 when civil war was raging. Homeless in the U.S., she fell back on the hair braiding skill she had learned at school where all the girls had to plait their hair. Begging from work, she ended up in a hair salon, then learned secretarial and office skills so she could get corporate work. Moving back to London, she used her hairdressing skills to pay her way through college, earning a degree in economics, politics and public administration. Then she worked as a civil servant. Cutting Edge It was another skill she had learned during here upbringing in Freetown, Sierra Leone, that gave Turay the impetus to become an entrepreneur, however. Her mother had given her a hand-worked sewing machine when she was 11. Now she taught herself design. The result is Gitas Portal, a London fashion brand specializing in ready-to-wear apparel featuring African and Ankara wax prints. Losing her father as a young girl, Nkem watched her widowed mother like other women in her community and communities around her struggle to feed and educate their families because of lack of skills and access to finance needed to start a business. Rather than bring her down, this inspired her to start up what is today called Mamamoni. With a mission to eradicate poverty through economic empowerment of poor women, Nkem set up Mamamoni, a social enterprise that is addressing community transformation by empowering women to carry on small businesses. Loan recipients get low interest loans in return for signing up for a system designed to create impact on financial inclusion and children’s education. She started Mamamoni at a time where she says she had very limited funds to help these women, but today through her intervention over 4000 low-income women and their families have been impacted and Mamamoni has grown beyond bounds, earning recognition of the Nigerian presidency and very recently making it to the YNaija 100 Most Influential Women. Asides been listed as one of the most innovative tech Tech start-ups by the President of Nigeria, Nkem and her team of five have over the past few months achieved couple of milestones including the launch a fin-tech platform www.mamamoni.org which enables individuals all over the world invest in poor women by lending to them and as well giving finance for business to over 100 low-income women. Investment in poor women through Mamamoni has been tested by several persons including staff of the Tony Elumelu Foundation bringing in very timely returns and very detailed report on the use of the funds by the women. The 2015 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneur says access to finance is a major challenge faced by women in Africa for their business start-up or expansion but for her organisations like the Tony Elumelu Foundation helping female entrepreneurs across Africa with funding for their businesses are God sent and will help bridge the gap. Nkem rates the mentorship given by the Tony Elumelu Foundation very high, in her words “I have been able to manage the various challenges I have encountered due to my experience working in the bank for almost 8 years and with the help of my mentor Mrs Oluwatoyin Sanni who has over 25 years’ experience in the finance sector, her guidance has really been helpful. The mentoring, training and funding from The Tony Elumelu Foundation has really helped my journey as a Social Entrepreneur, through the mentoring I was able to refine my business model, get introductions to potential investors, get help from someone who has more experience than me, the training taught me how to run a business successfully, and the funding helped us secure office space and start-up capital to run our business” Love and empathy for poor women remains a major driving force for the Mamamoni team but Nkem says she has remained focused, hardworking, determined and as well continued to apply the training and mentorship gotten from the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme. https://businessafricans..com.ng/2017/03/from-grass-to-grace-ceo-of-mamamoni.html

Old age,a super blessing from GOD |
ndcide:This your commentary has confirmed your idiotism. re-stating an obvious lie that forgery is an APC thing, thereby exonerating other parties, makes you a lunatic.(A lunatic repeats the same lie and expects truth to come out of it )For your information,Melaye was a PDP member at his first shot at politics. So if guilty of forgery, the certificates tendered then was a PDP forgery. You remember the former leader of house of Reps, was also a forger and PDP member.Remember other forgers in PDP,needless to mention more names. You are also an idiot because you are ridiculing a whole president of the federal republic of Nigeria, with out evidence beyond reasonable doubt.Your case would have been different if you have evidence that our president is a forger! The stuff published by Premium times and other media was issued by Cambridge and GSS Katsina respectively. Even an idiot should know that a statement of result is issued to replace a lost Certificate, not another certificate! Buhari had tendered his statement of result which can only be disputed by the examining body(Cambridge, not WAEC!)or his school,GSS,Katsina).Any other form of dispute or claim of forgery by an individual or group of idiots like you,is to say the least stupid. http://dailypost.ng/2015/01/28/cambridge-university-clears-buhari-alleged-forged-wasc-result/ Until you provide overwhelming evidence that our dear president is a forger, not by mere analogy,or talk, talk, you are an idiot!

chukel:The challenge with many of you guys on Nairaland is comprehension. The information I gave was to correct and not exonerate,to the effect that only the names of registered alumni can be found on the website. Is my English not simple enough? If you did a search on the same website,of those that graduated in 1967 when BA was being offered, the default degree you would see is BSc Geography ! The person that clicked like for you comment, must be a mumu! What a pity ![]() |
chukel:Hey we need to inform ourselves accurately! The website you published is only for registered alumni, please. The list is not from the school's senate. This correction is however not meant to exonerate Melaye, who should only be condemned or otherwise, with accurate information. |
ndcide:Another idiot and PDP agent spotted. What makes Buhari's certificate questionable? PDP also had its own certificate scandal, your conclusion is therefore false and mischievous. |
Akinz0126:This is a very idiotic statement. Why ascribe every issue to the government?why? You are the real propagandist and mischief maker,a total disgrace to intellectualism, not the government. ![]() |
Please somebody should help me out,I am confused! NYSC-1999 Date of graduation-February 2000-BA Geography. (Meanwhile,ABU offers BSc Geography and not BA as at this date!) Date of Statement of result-June 2000 Melaye did youth service before graduating? |
tete7000:You are still arguing like a hustler,or is comprehension your challenge? ![]() PMB is too busy for all these trash. He had met all constitutional requirements. You and your principals,or your likes ,still flogging a non-issue and creating mischief in the land, are very free to write Cambridge and GSS,Katsina. By the way, where is that clown expecting confirmation from WAEC,Ghana ; Oh my GOD,Nairaland is full of clowns ![]() http://dailypost.ng/2015/01/28/cambridge-university-clears-buhari-alleged-forged-wasc-result/ |
Eruditor:WAEC to reissue certificate It would most likely be fake (oluwole) ![]() |

tete7000:Oga,I think you are the fool here. Did INEC or constitution require PMB to present original copy of certificate? The constitution requires an evidence of having been educated to school cert level.A statement of result is a perfect epitome of evidence! At your stage you can still be running after original certificate, you are probably still an hustler. PMB had since passed that stage. |
JerryJude:waec regional head office at Ghana? Another paid agent and idiot spotted. Buhari remains a role model to those of us that cherish integrity, good governance and zero tolerance for corruption. The current economic situation is never of his making, due majorly to low forex revenue, from our only source ,Oil. No amount of falsehood and distortion of facts, will succeed! A stolen certificate can only be replaced by a statement of result. And only the issuing school or examining body,(GSS,Katsina) and Cambridge can declare ''fakeness''. Any other declaration and acceptance of ''fakeness'', by individuals and group of idiots,is to say the list, stupid.
|
Etzakoos:You should be pitied.Where is the lie? Shameless idiot. I just wonder what pleasure you fools, including those who clicked'' like'', derive in ridiculing a president with proven integrity and uprightness. Buhari is not the first to lose his certificate and he will not be the last. All the facts have been stated ,none represent falsehood.

''“For us to have a convergence between the interbank and parallel market, it would require the CBN to devalue the official exchange rate to about N350 to the dollar.'' They have started again. Useless analysts! We are talking of a market driven rate, this quack is talking of deliberate devaluation ![]() |

Stupidity is when you keep on reporting an illegal black market at the detriment of the official market for forex. Easy access to information is a very key factor to strive a market. The black market is striving simply because of easy access to information provided by useless media. It is only in Nigeria an illegal market rate takes the headline ![]() Reportage of an illegal market rate should be criminalised at once,it is serious economic sabotage. You can report the price of gari or rice at any market, because there is no official market for them, not for forex where there is an official market and an illegalised black market. We destroy our economy ourselves and blame the government. Has any body pondered to ask why despite the banks looking for customers to buy forex at the official market rate of N315,the black market is still striving at N420? How can an illegal market whose transaction volume is even less than 5% of the total forex transactions in an economy, determine the true value of the Naira? The answer is simple:manipulated information. In relative terms, and because of the useless media we have, more people have information of the black market than the official market,so more people are still patronising the black market! Just as a simplified example to illustrate how information strives a market: For a week, there had been no general information in the media on the black market rate.Mr Wazobia leaves in Mushin and needs forex badly this morning. He calls his Aboki black market dealer who gives him a rate of N500.He aslo calls KABIRU who gave him Another rate of N515.Another seller,Ismaila, can decide to sell his own dollar at N389,depending on the source of his money,to beat Kabiru and Aboki. Information concerning the actual black market rate is not available to Wazobia,so he is most likely to approach Ismaila. But assuming just before dashing out to meet Ismaila,Wazobia tunes it to channels TV and gets information about the official bank or BDC rate of say N315. Your guess is as good as mine! So for the forex buyer, the information about the actual black market rate is only limited to the number of sellers he can contact by phone or physical visit. Normally if there is information about the general black market rate in the media,Mr wazobia is most likely to compare the rate given to him by Aboki,Ismaila and Kabiru, with that of the general rate reported in the media, before deciding whether to buy or not. Even if forex is scarce and not available at the banks or BDCs,if information is not available,Ismaila will continue to beat Aboki and Aboki in terms of pricing, thereby ensuring that even at the black market ,the Naira attains its real value . Has any body bothered to ask how the very artificial black market rate is determined? Seun can do Nigeria and Nigerians a very big favour ,by banning the release of the black market rate as an headline on Nairaland. I just pray that Seun respond to this patriotic call and social responsibility. |
Franzinni:Receive some sense! what was the Oil forex revenue when GEJ was in power. Also, whilst GEJ used our reserves to defend the Naira,a very stupid policy,PMB is using current proceeds to flood the market with forex, very good but temporary measure. People can be so shallow minded in thinking ![]() |
I just still wonder why some people are still asking for PMB's certificate,in the wake of the recent Dino Melaye's predicament. Whilst I advice the latter to shut down the mouth of his ''enemies'' by publishing his statement of result or certificate,I would like to declare that those still asking for Buhari's certificate need to have their brain examined or re-examined! A statement of result is issued to replace a lost certificate. At this stage of his life what does PMB need a certificate for again?Even the constitution does not require a certificate, but an evidence of having been educated to school cert level. Moreover, only the issuing authority or school can declare a certificate or statement of result fake.Any other claim of ''fakeness''by any individual or group of individuals, is insanity! BY the last check, none of the issuing authorities of PMB's statement of result has declared ''fakeness''. A lot has also been said about PMB's hiring of SANs to defend himself in court, why not? The legal suit which had being withdrawn from court did not imply that our president had no certificate. PMB needed to hire SANs as a result of the technical issues on which the plaintiff was asking the court to declare GEJ the president elect: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/certificate-saga-court-struck-suit-buhari/ I just pray that those still asking for PMB's certificate get out of their insanity soonest!
|
Awoo88:SO you are the one to determine a fake result?Which school cease to exist? A statement of result is issued for a lost certificate. That does not make it ''very fake''I hope Ignorant people like you would not remain so forever! The attached results are from Cambridge and the school respectively. No individual like you can claim ''fakeness'' except the examining body and the school itself.Any other claim of ''fakeness'' is insanity!
|
EricBloodAxe:You can see that you are the cursed one. So what else do you expect again from a school that issued statement of result for a lost certificate? You still want to see a certificate? Has any authority or investigative media proved that the statement of result you have posted,is fake? I think you need a deliverance. |
JideAmuGiaka:Stupidity is when you make stupid comments based on falsehood. Which president does not have school cert? What a very stupid statement! |
