Thank you for this vital information, tafrica.

I have lost respect for Adeboye.

This is a law meant for all registered Charity organisations,NGOs and religious bodies, whether Christian or Islam or Ifa.

He is personalising issues and inciting his gullible and dogmatic followers against the present govt.

The so called man of god is also deceiving the people by lying that the law was made against Christians.

Big Shame on him!

I do not think I love stress more than you,but the issue is that we need to decide as a people to buy local rice, irrespective of the stress, pain or price.

Ofada is also available every where at Ikeja.

On the long run ,the prices of local rice are bound to crash.

Proudly a LAKE rice eater!

The earlier we realised that made in Nigeria rice is healthier and safer, the better for our dear lives.

irrespective of the current price now,an immediate ban on imported rice would galvanise more investment and supply of local rice, with ultimate affordable pricing.

We are going for OFADA rice next!

Stupidity is when you think you are wiser than others!

In a federal system of government, except for a territorial invasion or national war,for which Boko Haram fight is one,the state takes the lead in an internal crisis, whilst the FG gives support. The FG does not act before or without the state.

I wonder how my statement of facts ,diminish the very tragic and unfortunate loss of innocent lives.

You will remain a fool and continue to weep ,if you think you are more humane than I am.

Fools, mischief makers ,every where, even one of them is calling a Buhari that has crushed Boko Haram and curtailed the excesses of the Shiites muslims,a terrorist/Jihadist!

Just as pointed out by shamecurls, the FG has acted silently. When violence becomes virtually a daily occurrence in Nigeria, you do not expect condemnation statements from the president, every day,do you? What is more important is action!

When Shiites were being slaughtered,no body read any meanings to Buhari's silence.

Only mischief makers would expect the president to comment on every killings, bombings, robberies, kidnap, etc

The president style is talk less ,do more.

I noticed one thing about Buhari(because I am not a religious bigot,so I could see, without bias),apart from the fight against Boko Haram which is more of a national war against terrorism, other criminality are left to the respective states to handle with, silent federal government support.

Sometimes I just wonder what sort of Christians we have in Nigeria, always trying to create enmity and division at the slightest opportunity.

look at this one....oya define 'spare money'
Simple!

Spare money is that money the owner can afford to lose,in a worst case scenario, depending on his current and future financial obligations and projected cash flow.

E.g. For some one with a total savings of N1 million, spare money could be say 5%,N50,000.

Interestingly though, for some one with N2 million savings, spare money could just be N10,000!

It all depends on financial obligations and projected cash flow, current or potential.

Politics › Re: FACT-CHECK: Senate Confirmation: How SSS Lied Against EFCC Boss, Magu by Doyin2(m): 4:06pm On Dec 17, 2016
sarrki:
On Thursday, the Nigerian Senate declined to confirm the appointment of Ibrahim Magu as substantive chair of the country’s premier anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The upper legislative chamber claimed it could not approve the presidency’s request to confirm Mr. Magu based on a security report forwarded to it by the State Security Service.

“The Senate wishes to inform the public that based on available security report, the Senate cannot proceed with the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,” the spokesperson for the Senate, Aliyu Abdullahi, said in a statement read to journalists.

“The nomination of Ibrahim Magu is hereby rejected and has been returned to the President for further action,” Mr. Abdullahi said.

The Senate did not provide the EFCC chairman an opportunity to respond to the allegations against him.

PREMIUM TIMES has obtained details of the security report on which the lawmakers based their decision and has investigated the claims against Mr. Magu.

We fact-checked some of the claims made by the SSS, and below are our findings:

ALLEGATION ONE: That during the tenure of Farida Waziri as EFCC chairperson, sensitive documents were found in Mr. Magu’s home.

The facts do not support that claim. A reporter for this newspaper extensively reported that event in 2008 when it happened, and is familiar with what transpired at the time.

Based on pressure from political gladiators of the period (among which were former Governors James Ibori and Bukola Saraki), then President Musa Yar’Adua unceremoniously removed Nuhu Ribadu as chairman of the EFCC.

After Mr. Ribadu’s departure, his successor, Mrs. Waziri, frustrated some of his closest and most resourceful aides in the commission, and harassed them for prolonged period.

Mr. Magu, who was a chief superintendent of police at the time, was sent away from the EFCC and his Lagos and Abuja homes were raided by operatives even before he had the opportunity to hand over to Umar Sanda as head of the Economic Governance Unit of the commission. He was later detained for three weeks.

Following complaints by Mrs. Waziri, the then Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, queried Mr. Magu, accusing him of serious misconduct. One of the allegations against him was that he removed and withheld EFCC files.

On August 25, 2008, Mr. Magu replied the query, explaining to the IGP that no unauthorized EFCC official documents were found in his home.

“I wish to state that the nature of my assignment at the EFCC is such that I worked round the clock and it was impossible for me to do my work effectively without working on some documents at home,” he wrote to Mr. Okiro at the time. “This is the reason I maintain an office bag where documents relating to investigations were kept. The documents listed were found in my office bag which I was in the process of handing over and were not found hidden anywhere in my house.

“It is therefore not the correct position to say that I bluntly refused to hand over EFCC’s property and documents. I had just concluded handing over the Abuja office and I was in Lagos to conclude handing over the Lagos office when the search was conducted. At the time of the search, I had not reported to my new command. It could therefore not be my intention to keep government documents in my house.

“I have suffered untold humiliation within the past one month. My home was ransacked, vandalized and my properties destroyed by men of the EFCC. I was detained in a cell meant for hardened criminals most of whom are armed robbers for three weeks. My health condition deteriorated as a result of his inhuman treatment meted out to me for doing my job diligently and with the pride required of a senior police officer of my rank in the Nigerian Police Force.

“I humbly implore the Inspector General of Police to totally exonerate me from blame and the said acts of serious misconduct because I was not involved and I am not involved. I will never be discouraged in my unrelenting war against crime and its associated manifestations as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

After investigation, the police IG exonerated Mr. Magu, posted him to the police’s Special Fraud Unit and promoted him to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police shortly afterwards.

ALLEGATION TWO: That Mr. Magu currently occupies a residence rented for N40 million at N20 million per annum. This accommodation was not paid [for] from the commission’s (EFCC) finances, but by one Umar Mohammed, air commodore retired.

This claim is also untrue.

PREMIUM TIMES has obtained evidence showing the property in question was paid for by the Federal Capital Development Administration, and not Mr. Umar.

The E-Payment schedule, dated March 31, was issued by to the branch controller of Central Bank, Abuja, in favour of M/S Valcour SA Nigeria Limited.

The company was paid N39.628 million as payment for two-year rent and furnishing of the property, located in upscale Maitama district of Abuja.

The payment schedule was signed by Isiyaku Ismaila and confirmed by Zanna A. Hamza.

Mr. Magu lived in Karu, a suburb of Abuja, before his appointment as acting EFCC chair. With his new position, Mr. Magu moved into an official residence provided by the FCDA.

ALLEGATION 3: That the acting EFCC chairman regularly embarked on official and private trips through a private jet owned by embattled Air Commodore Mohammed Umar (Rtd).

PREMIUM TIMES checks show that this is not entirely correct. Our investigations indicate that Mr. Magu first met Mr. Umar when both of them worked as members of the Presidential Committee on the investigation of arms procurement. At the time, Mr. Umar was very close to President Muhammadu Buhari and had unlimited access to the presidential villa. Both men became close during the assignment.

Our investigations indicate that once this year, Mr. Magu travelled to Kano in company of EFCC’s director of finance and that in charge of organizational support. Those familiar with the trip said on their way back to Abuja, Mr. Umar, who at the time remained Mr. Magu’s colleague at the presidential committee, and who was at the time not in any trouble with the SSS, gave the two officials a lift.

We are unable to find any evidence that Mr. Magu flew in Mr. Umar’s private jet at any other time. Neither were we able to establish that the EFCC chairman flew to Maiduguri alongside Mr. Umar and a bank MD being investigated by the EFCC over complicity in funds allegedly stolen by former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

While some insiders at the commission denied the allegation, we could not independently verify the claims.

ALLEGATION 4: On 24 June, 2016, he (Magu) flew Emirate airlines first-class to Saudi Arabia to perform lesser hajj at the cost of N2.9m. This is in spite of Mr President’s directive to all public servants to fly economy class.

Insiders say while it was true that Mr. Magu indeed flew first class to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, he did not pay for the ticket with public funds. We could not however confirm this claim independently.

I am stating with full authority, that the only quick fix to our present predicament is a fundamental rise in oil price and output. Please quote me any where!

We are paying for the mistakes of the past, for allowing oil to be the only major source of forex!

The problem can only be fixed on the long run,not short run,via economic diversification and export oriented high productivity.

Bad news,my long run is not less than 4 years!

However,if we wake up tomorrow to see oil price at $100,and then stable for at least 6 months, then I can assure you that the recession would disappear within the short run!

All the issues raised by Sanusi had been there long before Buhari came to power.

Did major spending on recurrent expenditure rather than capital ,start with Buhari? NO.Could the trend be reversed within 2 years? No.Not even withing 4 years!

Was the bulk of the N4,7 trillion debt incurred during Buhari's government? NO.I disagree with Sanusi on this, perhaps he had been misquoted.

Sanusi did recognise the fact that the drop in oil price contributed to our current predicament, decline in economic growth..Was this within Buhari's control? No.

Sanusi was referring to the FG(Past and present) and not BUhari as a person.

The truth about Nigeria's economic recession (only genuine economist would understand) is that even the best economists in the world can not avert or reverse it in the short term. You can sack the whole ministers and even buhari and bring in new people, the problem would still be there,at least in the short run.

Let Sanusi give us his own right policies, whether it would not follow the same fate,at least in the short run, without a fundamental rise in oil price and out put.

It took Obama about 7 years to reverse the misfortune of USA even at that ,the country, with the best economists in the world has not fully recovered from recession. We would be damn lucky if our own recovery comes faster, without the rise in oil price and out put.truth is very bitter!

Politics › Re: Why Conduct Of Ondo Election On Saturday Will Violate The Law – Jegede by Doyin2(m):
lawlahbammy:
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Ondo Stare governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to postpone Saturday’s election for at least 30 days.
He said this would allow the party to submit a list of its agents in good time before the election as provided for in the Electoral Act 2010.
The Act stipulates that each party should make their party agents available to the commission, 14 days before the day of election.
The Biyi Poroye faction of the PDP had submitted a list of party agents to the commission before the expiration of the deadline for Jimoh Ibrahim, who was removed by Wednesday’s Appeal Court judgment.
Mr. Jegede, who led a protest to the INEC state headquarters at Alagbaka, in Akure on Thursday, told the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, that the postponement was necessary in order not to be in breach of the Electoral Act.
He also submitted a letter he addressed to the Chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yahkoob, demanding the postponement of the election.
“It follows from the foregoing that any list of agents purportedly forwarded by one Poroye and his fellow pretenders who had been illegally parading themselves as the state executive members of the PDP, Ondo State cannot be regarded as authentic,” the letter read in part.
“As it is, the peoples democratic party has not forwarded the list of its agents to the commission.
“Whichever way one may look at the situation on ground, the governorship election of Ondo state slated for 26th November, if conducted, will undoubtedly be in breach of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
“It is in light of the foregoing that I request you to differ the governorship election for Ondo State for at least 30 days so as not to conduct the election in flagrant violation of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.”
But Mr. Agbaje said INEC had gone past the issue of postponement, given that it had distributed sensitive materials to all the local governments already for the elections.
He insisted that the commission was prepared for the election come Saturday.
“We can no longer talk about postponement of the election right now,” he said. “The matter is an internal dispute within the PDP and so we cannot be talking about postponement.
“If we postpone the election, we will be losing billions of naira knowing that we have already deployed sensitive and non-sensitive materials to all the local government areas of the state.”
He said the list of party agents would be received from the Mr. Jegede and the former one would be discarded.
The materials which were supplied directly from the vault of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Akure include ballot papers, result sheets and other forms that would be used to collate the results.
Mr. Agbaje said adequate security had been provided to escort the materials to the respective local government areas.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/216213-conduct-ondo-election-saturday-will-violate-law-jegede.html
The law requires the party (and not INEC),to make available, the list of party agents,14 days.....

Therefore,if at all, its PDP that would have violated the law and not INEC.The use of the word "should is also instructive"

However,PDP is still one in the eye of the law. What we had were mere factional executives, one authentic and the other illegal.PDP as a party should be distinct from PDP factional leaders.

The law allows for substitution and that is what is expected of the now authentic executives .

It is very shameful that a so called SAN ,can not effectively interpret the law.

The nation cannot be held to ransome, because of internal leadership tussle of a party.

BTW, if elections are postponed to say December 23,and on December 21,another court rules that Segun Abraham is the authentic candidate of APC,would it not be "Fair" for Abraham to call for another postponement?

Common sense indeed is not common!
