Can you reel out names of Institution that imposes policies like this in the country at the moment?
The money that was used to establish the EDO STATE UNIVERSITY if it was used to run the system of AAU, issues of them running out cash wont be prevalent as it at the moment.

Well, they've already built Edo State University. Nothing we can do about that now.
But, assuming the school goes on strike now, you people will still complain. They're trying to avoid strike by getting funding from the fees as fast as possible.

You conclude that the policy shows Nigeria's educational system is in shambles. Doesn't that same policy exist in other countries?
When students will go and use their school fees for betting and lose it all, you expect the University to suffer for it?
Later when they rank the university <10000 in the world, you'll start complaining that you want to leave the country. You don't know its things like this that cause low performance of the University.
As much as Nigeria has subsidized education, you people still don't want to pay fees.

So it's not like you wanted to go into automobiles, or robotics, or aeronautics or anything. You just had an "interested" in Mechanical Engineering and thought it was as easy as pie.
I will tell you the truth now. You don't know what it means to be serious. You don't understand the meaning of reading hard. If you realized what was at stake here, maybe your case would have been different.
You may think you understand the problem but you don't.
Your O'Level training is probably inadequate.
Leave Mechanical Engineering and don't return except you truly realize what it means to be serious. and in whatever new course you chose, enter it with the aim of truly learning. People develop new technology with what they learnt in school. It's seems your own aim in school is to enjoy yourself, somehow come out with a good result, and work in an oil company. That is a PIPE DREAM. Life is not that easy. People shed tears while studying in universities, and you think you can just come, flex life and achieve the same things those people achieved. You cannot.

When you picked Mechanical engineering, did you have a clear vision or career path in your mind? Or simply, why did you want to do Mechanical engineering? This question is really important. I'd appreciate if you could tell me your answer.

That was an advice, not an insult.
On seeing the topic, I had the same ideology as the first commenter, but I decided to calm down and see what this guy was driving at. Any reasonable person should have done the same.
This thread is informative in nature, but the first commenter desperately wanted to show the small knowledge he had gained and totally ignored what he was meant to learn.

Look prayers are important, they help you believe that you can achieve. But if you don't read, hard, no amount of prayer will make you pass.
Someone who spend all his time reading effectively and does only 1 minute of prayer will still perform better.the one who spends equal time reading and praying.

Sit in front of the class during lectures.
Take down notes on what the lecturer is saying (comprehensive notes).
Make friends with people who are smart and can teach you.
Do not be swayed by youthful exuberance (clubbing, house parties, parambulating round the city, going out everytime, looking for relationship up and down). YOU DON'T NEED IT.
Ensure you read at least 12 hours a week (nothing less). Spread those hours as you deem fit.
Do not take assignments for a joke. They are more important than you think. DO ALL YOUR ASSIGNMENTS.
Before every test, ensure that you have fully covered all topics. Be prepared to pull an all-nighter. Lack of sleep before a test will not kill you. You can sleep all you want during holidays.
Have complete notes for all lectures, and ensure you read them all.
Always seek assistance from people who can help you in whatever you don't understand.
Aim for a 5.0 GPA with all your heart. It's easy to get if you put your mind to it.

If you can strictly follow all these, you should be able to pass well.

The bold is not true. The lad who finished with a first class in my class and best in the faculty with 4.7 had 183 in JAMB, ditto the second who had 4.5 at 180. JAMB aka UTME score has nothing to do with performance in school. WASSCE does not UTME.

If you REALLY desire the first class, I'd advise you write JAMB again. But then, you desire a good job and are 22; then strive to make a 2.1. Better still, change from engineering to something you can handle. From your results, it implies engineering ain't for you. You won't be the first person to attempt such. I know people who changed from Physics to Marine Biology or Food and Nutrition to Theatre Arts (how these ones succeeded, I've no idea).

That said, irrespective of course or department, heed to what Jarus has said - everything!

You and the guy you quoted are on the same page.
His point is that a Jamb score doesn't define how smart a person is. So she being proud of her 204 is even more ridiculous as it isn't even impressive to begin with.
