Phenomenalopeye:Full ride for international students? Then there are no safety schools, no matter your stats. No school is safe. Your best bet would be to prepare a solid application and apply Early Decision to a mid-tier school like Washington and Lee, Vassar, Women colleges like Smith, Mount Holyoke, Wellesley, Bryn Mawr etc. However, you'd need to have a solid SAT score preferably >1400. Another option would be to apply for merit scholarships at HBCUs and other lower-tier schools e.g MVSU, ASU, PSC etc. You could be lucky enough to get a presidential scholarship offsetting all costs, but applying to these schools is pretty stressful, and you'll have to continously call and follow up with the application, if not, you'd be overlooked. If you do have a 1500+, then by all means, apply to ivies and other top-tier schools. You could even get in with a 1400+, but your application needs to be very strong all round. Also apply to Minerva Schools at KGI, they do not use the SAT for admissions, but have a 1.9% acceptance rate, and their entrance test is very challenging. If you pass it, they'll admit you with 100% aid. |
Phenomenalopeye:What is your budget/EFC(expected family contribution)? |
Kimzylove:Yes. |
Kimzylove:It depends on the University. If you are applying through the Common Application or Coalition, it would be a nice idea to explain it in the additional information section. Your transcript and letter of recommendations should come from the same school. |
Futuragetty:It's me o;-) Yeah I remember. Huge coincidence man;-) |
Futuragetty:Lol :-D seems you know me from somewhere |
Phenomenalopeye:International passports are required. There are many free resources online, just Google "SAT test prep resources" and you'll see lots of PDFs. I would recommend you get a copy of Erica Meltzer's "The Critical Reader." It is a wonderful book for the reading section, it helped me get a near perfect score on reading. For the Weekend section, I'd recommend College Panda Writing. It's a great book for writing, very comprehensive. For Math, the official book is best, but if you are very good in Math and you'd like to challenge yourself, get a copy of John Chung's 54 SAT Math tips. It covers all possible math topics on the SAT comprehensively, but the exercises are quite difficult and challenging. For the exam day, I'd advise you eat before coming. Keep yourself calm, no tension. Time yourself. Make sure to go over your work on every section. There were some mistakes I made that I discovered while going through my work. Time yourself. Hone your concentration and focus towards the exam. |
Phenomenalopeye:$48 for US residents. There ata additional expenses as an international student. I paid about $108 for SAT with essay, entirely online. Just go to college board'' website, create an account, and register for the SAT. The payment is one of the steps in the registration process. Once you get to the website, the rest becomes very easy. |
Kimzylove:Back to your secondary school. |
Phenomenalopeye:Ivies are test optional for 2020/21 application season. Now ivies are extremely competitive, picking only the best students from the country e.g the kids who win Cowbellpedia, SPAK, international olympiads, etc. You will be competing with these students academically for as few as 4-5 slots per ivy from Nigeria (which could potentially reduce as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic). Even with international level competitions on your resume, you still need a stellar SAT score to even begin to compete. Some students applying to these schools for fall 2021 already have their scores down, waiting for applications to open in August. Applying test optional as an international student for significant funding from a top school is kamikaze. |
labylaby:Amherst and Dartmouth? |
labylaby:There are a lot of schools offering full financial aid to international students, and anyone can find them if they are willing to do their research. I have friends on full rides (tuition, room and board, transportation in some cases) at schools like Vanderbilt, Vassar, University of Rochester, Tufts, Washington and Lee, Cornell, Smith, etc. Mind you, mostly all of them had stellar SAT scores (1400+) and WAEC results (5As+). They also had things that set them apart (competitions, projects, talents etc). Graduating from good secondary schools like Dority also gives you a huge advantage. |
Phenomenalopeye:1. No safeties? These are schools that consistently reject students with 9As in waec, 4.0 GPAs and 1500+ SAT. I have a friend here in Nigeria that was rejected from all these schools with 1570/1600 in SAT and another with 1540, both had 8A1s in WAEC and 1600/1600 in SAT 2. Please do your research and find schools. There are over 50-100 colleges that offer full financial aid to international students. 2. MIT? Harvard? Princeton? Without test scores? Please try as much as possible to take the SAT or ACT so you can stand even a half chance at these schools. 3. I'd advise you use the Common Application, I found it much easier and straightforward than Coalition. 4. You don't need to take TOEFL, just the SAT or act will be okay. |

tarantino1:It had four sections: Reading, Writing, Maths without Calculator and Maths with Calculator, with breaks after Reading and Maths without Calculator. I also took the Optional Writing section, because it was required for some of the schools I was planning to apply to. The exam itself was exactly how it is in the Official SAT book, on the same level of difficulty. |
Micholo5:Check out pdfdrive.com. It has a lot of practice books for the exam. |
Nostradamus1:When I took the SAT last year October, international passport was compulsory, and anyone without it was turned down from taking the exam. |
Kbs468:I watched yesterday's game. Sancho was not on Collins' wing in the second half. It seems like Favre gave Sancho the freedom to roam the pitch as he created chances from the right and left parts of the pitch simultaneously and scored from the center. In the second half he played more like a 10. |
TheSuperNerd:Not forgetting he lost possession the most among Paderbon players. He had a good game in terms of tackles and interceptiondbut he lost the ball so much coming forward it became annoying. |
ubcandid:Simple! Because the current SE philosophy does not suit his style of play. Onuachu is a player that thrives in d possession-keeping team against team parking the bus. He is the kind of player you use against teams like Burundi, Madagascar, Lesotho, Benin etc. That is why he has been largely successful in Europe, because all the teams he has played for are table toppers in their leagues. In a team that has a defensive style of play and thrives on the counter, Onuachu will flop helplessly. He does not have the frame and energy to continuously mark and chase down defenders. Onuachu is not a bad player, just that he doesn't fit the current SE style of play. |
osinbanjoisaliar:I have friends who scored 1560 and 1540. I have not heard of any Nigerian from Nigeria that had a 1600 though, except in subject tests. |
After watching the Monaco vs Marseille match, I can confidently assert that Onyekuru should have stayed at Galatasaray. Monaco are in very poor form at the moment, I can't still understand how a team can lose a game after going two-nil up in the first 25 minutes. They have stars but no cohesion. It's unfortunate. Also, Onyekuru will find it very hard to get playing time as Jardim prefers Golovin, Gelson Martins and Keita Balde ahead of him |
OwnGoal Nigeria Super Eagles Training – Aribo Tops All Newly Invited Players In Terms Of Performance, Maja, Okoye In Focus September 10, 20190728 The Super Eagles of Nigeria will later today take on Ukraine in an international friendly game, Owngoalnigeria.com takes a look at how the new players have performed in the two training session the team had ahead of today’s game. Newly invited goalkeeper Maduka Okoye showed he has what it takes to be a good goalkeeper in the future and it’s looking like he will play some part in today’s game. Josh Maja of Bordeaux impressed with his pace and ability to finish wisely during the drills with strikers. His link up play is also a lot better than most forward in the team and he has struck a very good understanding with Paul Onuachu. Still not sure of getting game time today. Club Brugge Dennis Bonaventure was the closest to Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu in terms of dribbles completed in training. However he was guilty of not releasing the ball early and also his final balls were hit and miss during the session. A very lively player though. However the best of them all was Rangers of Scotland midfielder Joe Aribo, he was a beast in duel and also very commanding in possession. Used his body to good effect with his abilities to use both legs correctly also giving him an edge. Sure to start today’s game. |
Ehizibue putting up a man of the match performance for Köln. This guy will be a great addition to the SE. |
Rohr deployed Balogun as a DM against Cameroon and Tunisia in Afcon and it worked out very well. Balogun is a ball-playing defender unlike Omeruo and Ekong. Ball-playing defenders can also be utilized as DMs (Semi Ajayi) I believe in future tourneys Rohr can use some of these guys to come in for Ndidi cos he works too much and he can burn out Iwobi has good passing and dribbling skills, but very poor in shooting and scoring. Also gets missing in games sometimes. That's where Aribo comes in. Very good shot, sweet left foot. Knows the back of the net. Also a midfield engine. I only pray Rohr gas the guts to utilize him further forward |
gamaliel9:Comparing Aribo to Kanu or Joao Felix is like comparing Ndidi to Chukwueze. By the way who told you Aribo lacks ''resoluteness" and "combativeness"? The way some people watch football ehn, sometimes I wonder if it's the same sport we are all watching ![]() |
Please who has an idea of the full squad list for the Ukraine friendly? SE insiders ![]() |
IMO David Okereke is vastly unappreciated. 4 goals and 2 assists in 170 club minutes for Brugge is not a fluke. I'm potentially visualizing a 4-4-2 attack with Osimhen and Okereke ahead. |
logon599:Boy is good. Fast, tall, also has a good shot. Very clinical in front of goal. Knows the back of the net very well |
