potential travellers like myself depend on experienced people like you. we believe whatever you tell us and sometimes we believe some of you could help us secure good jobs up there. For this reason we easily fall for the greedy bustards who wants to milk us dry. I'll plead with you and other faithful members to keep up the good work you're doing. Help us help others. God bless you.
I agree with you sir. Will continue to contribute my own 'widow's mite' as much as possible sir.

@DrDre, and all who are concerned. Thanks a lot. You really are doing a great job here. Please I've got some few questions to ask you about Dubai's visa. I need to confirm the genuineness of a Dubai's visa which has just been issued to me.

1. It is boldly written at the top of the visa like this: Entry Visa- New-Work (sounds like 2months work visa to me but I don't know if I am very correct) Does it mean this visa will only allow me in to Dubai and I will have to find a job myself and then lasts me a two-month?

2. On the visa, there is profession whic is h is a Waiter (like how much they pay waiter) accompanied by a Restaurant (name withheld). Does it mean that the Restaurant my employer for that period of time?

3. How easy is it to get a visa renewed in Dubai?

4. The place of issue on the visa is Abu Dhabi. Does it mean I will have to live in Abu Dhabi?

5. Lastly, I will continue to ask what I don't know. grin
U are welcomed sir. Wish I could help but unfortunately, Dubai matters isn't my turf. Hopefully, the few sincere Dubai based people here will attend to u soon. Ur fifth point got me laughing. Just a little patience sir. cheesy grin

It's getting increasingly scary to visit this thread. You never can tell the next thing you will read here. The world over, Nigerians are the foundation of their problems. Until we start looking inwards and pointing at ourselves instead of other people for our problems, we will not move forward or experience true and genuine progress/growth. embarassed cry

Mr DrDre1 tanx so much u make me feel relief now,I appreciate the time u spare to answer all mai question very well.........afta gettn tru to agent if job is attached to the visa I will let u knw. Wen some pple said mai passport will be taken frm me for 5yrs dats wot scared me I really appreciate the way u shed more light on it for me. I will get to u as soon as possible. Tanx.
You are welcomed sir. I'm quite sure there's no job attached to the visa. That's the way the get the visas. If you decide to go ahead with the move, indicate in this thread when you are set to go so I can give you tips to affords pitfalls that are newcomers fall into right from the airport. Also, start asking your agent if he has someone on ground that will attend to your needs when you arrive in the country. All the best.

Now...so many hidden posts again? Why I'm always missing this dramas? sad

@DrDre and nestaolive I really appreciate u guys......had it mean I knw dis forum b4 I wouldn't av fall easily to d hand of agent........anyway av nt pay much to d agent my eye got open wen I got d visa and laborer was written dia,I dnt think I can come and spend 5yrs as a laborer. May plan b4 is jst to work for like 2yrs and move to anoda country,but now I need to change mai mind.......thank u all
Mr . Samstel, I don't think you read my initial reply. I just told you there's really no cause for alarm about some of the issues you have raised.

1.it is true dat I will still pay some money in qatar for mai residence permit?coz mai agent didn't tell me dat,I got dat here.
Yes, you will pay for your residence permit yourself. The fees shot up around slightly over a year ago. Different companies charge different amounts but prepare for something in the range of 2500qrs to 3000qrs.

2.During d cause of d processing my agent took mai SSCE result to Abuja for attestation,now dat heard dat it is important pls can I attest mai ND coz is original and mai HND statement with mai transcript coz I study elect/elect.
You can do the attestation of all your certificates before coming down. Will come in handy for some jobs. That's not to say you can't get a job without attesting them.

3.on mai visa dia are some tinz I need ur help too:it is d company dat did d sponsorship that will employ me?
I don't know what your agent told u but if you didn't negotiate a job along with the visa then you will have to search for a job when you get here. On the flip side, the agent can also tell you that there's a job waiting for you with the company but in reality it's not. The point is that you should ask your agent if there's a job attached to the visa. Let me know what he tells you later.

,on d visa also on profession it is written there as laborer hope am nt gonna b enslaved
Don't get yourself worked up about what is written on the visa as your profession. It doesn't really count and you won't be enslaved. The visa is just a business transaction between you and the company acting as your sponsor. Once you get here and get a job, the company will give you a release document. The profession indicated on the visa also doesn't determine the kind of job you will get. Once you have the right wits and skills for a particular job, no one is going to ask you what is written on your visa. Asides that, you can only change the job status later after you know your way around the system.

and lastly I heard mai passport will be with mai employer is dat true?
Your passport will not be with your employer. The reason to give your passport to your company is when you want to do your residence permit. After it's done, it will be returned to you. If you get a job, the employer won't hold on to your passport because the company isn't your direct sponsor.

All things being equal, if you think you have the courage to take the plunge, don't let these concerns stop u. All the best

Ofcourse, before u answer this way, u must have done ur homework very well and know that u have many advantages to negotiate and secure the job.

Chiaka:
All Coker from Africa descent is from this man
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Coker
The ones in Nigeria whose grand dads and great grand dad migrated from Sierra Leone to Nigeria (Most married Nigerian women)
most of them have lost their roots and quite a number of them are ignorant of this fact.
What happened is that the children born to the Cokers who migrated from sierra leone (Saro) took to where ever it is in Nigeria their mum is from, hence we have Cokers in Ogun State, Lagos, Rivers, Cross Rivers etc.
I am lucky in that my grand Dad (A coker) migrated not that long and married to a Nigeria woman hence we still have history and family tie to our sierra leonian extended family even though we are born in Nigeria and married to Nigerians. We are now full Nigerian laying hold to come from the states where our mothers are from.

Best of Luck my relative
Your post is very revealing. I doubt if the link u posted was there when this thread started else we would have found. If I didn't, the OP would have. Nice to meet a Coker from the SL side. Some pictures of the family house and some members were published in the family book few years ago. One of them, a Doctor, was elected as the President of the medical association in West Africa around that time I think. We are also well estabilshed in Gambia. I was shocked when I met a Coker with a yoruba name back in Uni who said she's from Gambia. It was quite an experience. Thanks for wishing the OP luck. She was quite lucky at the end.

FamilyRe: Male Teachers And Attractive Female Students by DrDre1(m): 3:49pm On Oct 10, 2014
Abee79:
I lectured in a Polytechnic located in South West Nigeria for four years. I went there as a Corper, and was retained. I'll share how I was able to stay unscathed all the while, keeping the 'pressure' from female students (and female Staff) at bay:

* As soon as I set foot in the community, I identified with the Christian groups and Churches. This kept me from any wilful compromise, even when I wanted to, or had the opportunity (there were lots of them!);

* I did not trust my natural instincts, so I kept my distance - especially from girls I found personally attractive (and there were in abundance);

* I tried not to stare too much - especially the ones that will come to class looking really seductive. Straight-facedness!!!! (no second look was my (still remains) my policy - no matter how fine a girl is)

* I performed my duty with diligence and strictness - meanwhile, I maintained cordiality and reasonableness;

* I always reminded myself that nothing remained a secret for long, especially among female students who would one day brag about how they 'conquered' yet another Staff, or about your prowess in bed - or otherwise;

* I also reminded myself daily that compromising with any of my students was like 'descending' to their level and that I should be prepared to eat the crumb of disrespect that it may occasion;

* I tried not to entertain female students who always want to come visit on any reason, except they are in the company of others;

* When they call, or sent text messages (they always have ways of getting your phone number) I replied as cordially as I can, maintaining a mental and emotional boundary that must not be crossed;

* (Don't laugh, please): I conspicuously kept a copy of the Bible on my desk;

* I flaunted pictures of my fiancée in my office and used it as my phone and computer screen saver (we were hundreds of miles apart);

* If I sensed that a girl was 'coming on' too strongly, I would politely ask her "HAVE YOU GIVEN YOUR LIFE TO JESUS?" (It works EVERY SINGLE TIME. They get embarrassed and never come back, and I guess, they go and tell the others)

* I maintained godly principles of transparency, integrity, purity, obedience to God, respect for constituted authority, diligence to duty, etc

* I treated every encounter with my students (in or out of class) as an avenue to influence them for good, not evil

* Can't think of the rest . . . (Its all about having personal godly values and principles!)

>>With time I gained a (not too good) 'reputation' for myself (they called me a monk, Jew guy, Holy-holy, Pastor etc). After a while, they all just IGNORED me, I think . . . cool
- Today, almost five years latter, happily married with two daughters of my own, I recall those formative years WITHOUT REGRET AND NOTHING TO HIDE!
Sir, u nailed. The "...have u given ur life to CHRIST..." got me really choking with laughter. I can imagine the looks on their faces. If the same person still pushes further after that, the next thing I'd probably say is " I think u need deliverance" grin

UNLEASHED: Where's Qatar on the list? That airport is massive!
very true about the size of Qatar's airport. Massive doesn't even describe when u compare the size to the size of the whole country itself. What the OP has however done is based on traffic handled by the airports based on 2011 figures. That's why Qatar's won't make this least cos it just only opened few months ago and is yet to record traffic for a full year. wink

frostmate: Hello sir. What's the cost of living in Qatar compared to UAE?

Is experience in the UAE valuable when applying for jobs over there?
I've only 'passed through' UAE but from my interactions with people and from what I read here, I'd say cost of living is lower in Qatar. The difference might not be so much but it's lower sir.
As for ur second question, it does count very well as they are quite similar environments in more ways than one sir

uyigue1: Hello pals thanks for your good work here, am really impressed...........................i have 3 questions pls about Qatar visa is it possible for someone to get a good job over there, secondly is it possible to marry a Qatari citizen over there and get paper, thirdly how is social life over there and is it possible to cross to any Asia country later in future as i plan and how is their attitude towards foreign nationals.thanks
Hate to burst ur bubble sir. Ur number 2 question got me really laughing grin
It's possible to get good jobs...but then everyone has their own definition of what a 'good job' is.
As for ur third question, Qatar isn't a prison. U can always pack ur bags and leave for anywhere u desire in the future. I obviously know what u have in mind lol. Take one step at a time sir. The world is a big place.

Just to point out something. Some months back, Georgia opened it's doors to Qatar citizens and anyone with a valid R.P. Before u start packing ur bags, ask urself what's in Georgia? cheesy grin

It depends on the passport u using. Certain passport holders even qualify for tourist visas on arrival. If u are using the Nigerian passport, u would have to wait out ur stopover hours within the airport. U can checkout this Qatar airways link for further information

tuffgongjo: And do you know how much fifa stand to loss if one or two fans die cause of d Qatari heat?
No one will die cos of the heat. This is the same heat many Europeans travel thousands of miles around the world to get during their holidays. Besides, have u heard of any European that died in Qatar because of heat? There are thousands of them in Qatar living good and comfortable lives. This is just one of the excuses to wrestle the hosting rights out of their hands. Did FIFA just suddenly wake up and discovered that Qatar is in the middle east? If the weather is their excuse then, let them fix it around the cool period so the fans can go to the stadia in jackets and sweaters lol
