CultureRe: Mother Tongue Or English At Home? by DrLorenz1(m): 11:11am On May 06, 2009
The question of the poster actually has three possible angles:

1. Wanting to know what others think about which is better spoken at home or

2. Which is most spoken in homes or

3. Which should be most spoken at homes.

Perhaps the poster needs to be specific a bit.

In my own opinion, both is very important. My reasons for saying this is because for one, if one can only speak his mother tongue, it does not help communication-wise when he/she goes out of the country to other countries where where English is the mother tongue. Another point is this, in Nigeria, as well as in most countries, no one becomes educated with his/her mother tongue considering English Language is the method of instruction in our schools.

Most people, especially Americans see most Nigerians as people that can't communicate in English. When they see that we can, they're surprised and more respect is given to us. I've had an experience like that myself. Just like Eldee said, it's not the accent, it's about fluency in communication, getting your point across. But outside Nigeria, you can't get your point in our native tongue can you? No.

So y'all can make your judgments,
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: UCL Semi-final:Arsenal(1) Vs Man Utd(3)[Agg: 1-4] On Tues 7th May by DrLorenz1(m): 10:12am On May 06, 2009
Well well well. All these talks of Arsenal loosing to Man U. I said it before that they will be disappointed and they were,
I feel sorry for them, but i've always known they were going to lose.
I wonder why Arsene Wenger thought he could send little boys to play with the big boys and win.
I'm sure if Man U decided to play Arsenal with all the young players they have, they still would have won the game.
Anyway, what's done, is done. And there's still more to do. Arsenal fans should take heart.
One thing about them though is that they are die-hard fans and i its cool sha but hope say them no go die because them lose? grin
CrimeRe: Will You Turn In A Relation Or A Friend Who Is A 419ner by DrLorenz1(m): 6:51pm On May 04, 2009
The question was will you or will you not?

Why all the many diversions and counter-diversion?

As for me, it depends on the relationship, not everyone you call your relative you flow with or even sends you. If am close to the person, i'll try at first to make the person see reasons why what he does is not good. Secondly it depends on what and how exactly he does it.

So perhaps, i will.

All those people that posted Arsenal's logo everywhere , what happened to the ammunition? I told y'all that the only amunition you've got is water, that's why you carry water gun about,

As if you forgot that water, e no get enemy.

First of all, its nice to see that the females nairalanders have something much to say about football and this match in question.

But i need to remind y'all that before the first leg was played, the polls clearly showed that Arsenal fans are much in here and it looked like Man U was goin down.

What happened? They lost! cry

When those people who decided to bring in past records to solidify the claim as if that was what determines a match . I even suspected that those people play pool abi na bab ijebu dem dey call am for Eko grin

What happened? They were dissapointed! sad

Like i said earlier on my post, it's a decisive match, but i think Man U's got the best shot.

What happened? I was right! grin

Then again, need i remind you that even though Arsenal hasn't gotten beaten in the Emirates before, them fans need to be remined that Man U's a team that is known for breaking records et al. Perhaps, when they win at Emirates, they'll have to play the match again and this time, they'll take it to the United Arab Emirates grin , for another confirmation.

On a last note, i added that a female nairalander once said that the only arsenal Arsenal's got is a water gun, looks like she was right during the first leg. Hopefully, she'll be right again this time, so that some people will lipsrsealed once and for all,

Oh one more thing, that thing about boys doing this and that, please lets not forget that you grow from being a boy to a man, and when you become a man, u can tell the boys that you've been there and done that.

Please people no hating me cus am only a reporter saying things the way i shocked it,

I rest my case, cus we're all cool

Same time after the match,
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: UCL Semi-final: Man United(1) Vs Arsenal(0) On Wednesday 29th April by DrLorenz1(m): 10:26am On Apr 29, 2009
This is a match that is unpredictable, but i think the odds are very much in MAN U's favour.
I don't think Arsenal's going to be relaxed since they are away cus if they try that, then the goals are just going to keep coming,
To make matters worse, when MAN U win at home, then they're only going to replicate what they did in Porto, beat them at home. Something they'll never think wuld happen.
If it were to be MAN U and BARCA, i'd say only time will tell since we all saw what happened btw Chelsea and Barca.
No one ever thought it'd be a draw, but then it did.

So for those that say GUNNERS FOR LIFE, lets hope they have ammunition in them guns, cus from what i heard from a Nairalander, that gun they brandish on their logo is nothing but a water gun. grin
Frankly, i don't see how water's gonna kill the Red Devils.
Just like every thing we have to wait for, lets keep our fingers crossed, toes criss-crossed, posts checked, and information double-checked, grin
TV/MoviesRe: Are Nigerian Movies Really That Good by DrLorenz1(m): 2:41pm On Apr 13, 2009
bishoptboy:
Gosh i just cheked the AMAA list now. Nollywood should be ashamed. Kenya took the major. we make quantity and not quality. i tell you that south africa did not really entered into all the category cos if they did with their films nigeria wont get anything. sad

we should plead with our music video editors to save nollywood. we are one of the best in music video but Kenya still won editing. sad
Burkina Faso won animation. too bad sad
I agree with you on that. If South Africa were to have really entered, i don't think Nigeria would even been seen. Have we asked ourselves why most American movies don't premiere here in Nigeria?

Great nollywood material
we're talking about reality and u're saying nollywood. y don't you produce the movie? grin
FamilyRe: They Want Him To Marry A Dead Girl by DrLorenz1(m): 5:46pm On Apr 07, 2009
@post
from what i read, there are two angles to the whole scenario.

1. The parents of the girl didn't like the guy (perhaps cus of religion or whatever) and didn't really approve of the relationship.

2. They wanted to see if getting pregnant and subsequently having a child or children would make things a little bit better.

So at the end of the day, things didn't go as planned, just as most things in life,

so at all those who say he should marry the corpse, if you were him, would you do it? be sincere. and to those that were asking how long was he gonna wait or why did he wait till after 9 months, number 2 answers your question, i hope.

@reality4us

looks like you're not facing reality here. who said he "abducted" the girl in question, even if u put it on quote? thing is, he actually wanted to marry the girl before the incident. if he didn't, y do you think he actually allowed the girl to get pregnant? of course he wasn't stupid. how was he supposed to know she was gonna die? just pray something like that doesn't happen to you. i would love to see you do it  grin
PoliticsRe: Thisday Corrects Self On "Pastor Adeboye's" Jet by DrLorenz1(m): 6:57pm On Apr 03, 2009
@Mr. Crackles
I never said you cracked even under extreme pressure, i was just tryin 2b be a wisecrack smiley, no offence intended.

And who said i said that they didn't steal money? I actually said they didn't steal my or your money to buy the Jet grin. No one knows whether they stole money or not. Seems like you misunderstood me too.

We're all debating about something THISDAY and other newspapers started. The media says something, and we all follow suit, start talking yada yada yada. Are they supposed to control our thoughts? For all those talking about private money and church coffers, what's your final intention? The church should be investigated by EFCC? Cus i don't understand why y'all are so focused on the money issue. When Winners Chapel bought theirs, nobody made any mention of how they got the money. Why is it that RCCG is now the subject matter on the round table? Not that it's going to solve your next or immediate problem.
PoliticsRe: Thisday Corrects Self On "Pastor Adeboye's" Jet by DrLorenz1(m): 6:32pm On Apr 03, 2009
@Omo Ibo
And how does it concern u if the money came from church coffers? Is your own money there?

@ Mr. Crackles
It seems you're crackling. The same goes for you. The ish here is not about private money. Then again, is it public money? If it's not private money, then it should be public money and when it's public money how does that relate to the Church? 'They say'. Who says? This Day or RCCG?
PoliticsRe: Thisday Corrects Self On "Pastor Adeboye's" Jet by DrLorenz1(m): 6:24pm On Apr 03, 2009
I agree with Kobojunkie, Thisday needs to be held responsible for the mistake, but i think we should tamper justice with mercy since they were gracious enough to say they were wrong. There are other magazines that didn't say they were wrong, and i think those are the ones dat should be held responsible.

@Backslider,
just like it says, you're really a backslider, so i don't think you should be talking in here. U were talking about the Old Testament, seems like you like living in the past.

@Kobojunkie,
Gracias mucho, i couldn't have said it any better. lol.
PoliticsRe: Thisday Corrects Self On "Pastor Adeboye's" Jet by DrLorenz1(m): 6:07pm On Apr 03, 2009
All these talks about which Pastor bought which Jet is making me nauseous. The things is, it's not only Thisday that is at fault. They were even gracious enough to say they were wrong, unlike some amebo magazines that will always run their mouths, saying things that doesn't concern the country or even remotely help us in any way.

I agree with proudly9ja, these so called journos don't mention our leaders stealing money every single second. When it's a pastor that buys something, they start to run their mouths like that's the most interesting news they can come up with. As to knowing the truth of the whole matter, has any one stopped to thin, how in any way knowing the truth of the matter will help me? I don't think anyone has.

I think we should focus on more news that can better our life because no matter how much we deliberate on the issue, the truth remains that the church did not steal our money to buy the Jet.
PoliticsRe: Did Blogger Dayo Coker Receive Death Threats From Intercontinental Bank? by DrLorenz1(m): 2:33pm On Mar 26, 2009
Hmn, very interesting story and even more interesting replies. I'm sure everyone has said what it is to be said, but i'll just make one or two observations.

1.
openej:
Dayo,

I think you are trying too hard to make your points. A good article will sell itself. You have already told us the bank is on the verge of collapse, then rest your case and let Nigerians make their decisions.
2.
Ex Inferis:
dayo coker is a liar and an attention LovePeddler. the mail is obviously fake, if anyone wants to threaten you its the legal department. besides, the addressing format is obviously fake to any halfwit with an email. "hide details"? which email client has that option? and what details are being hid given the "sender"s email address is displayed?
Based on those two highlighted points, i think I'm inclined to think that Mr. Coker is obviously either trying too hard to make his point or is obviously looking for attention. One very good reason for that is based on the second point, when i read that part, that was the first reaction i had. I mean, the addressing format wasn't what I'm used to seeing in corporate emails. Well Mr. Coker should just leave ICB alone and let Nigerians keep their fingers crossed, toes criss-crossed, and newspapers checked for the "bomb". If what he said is true, then we'll see at the end. On a last note, i don't bank with ICB, but if i wanted to choose a bank to put 99% of my money in, it'd be ICB grin.
RomanceWhat Would Be Your First Reaction? by DrLorenz1(op): 1:54pm On Nov 11, 2008
This question is for both the guys and gilrs (not forgetting the married men and women).

I've always been wondering,

What would you do if (as a guy), you caught your wife/girlfriend having sex with, wait for it, another woman?!. What would be your first and subsequent reaction? The same goes for the ladies. What would you do?

People shout, complain, rave or even threaten heaven and hell when it's with the opposite sex, but i've never heard when it's actually the same sex.

If anyone has had an experience, we'd like to know. Tahnks.

Christianity EtcRe: Men And Their Indecent Dressing by DrLorenz1(m): 2:34pm On Jun 07, 2008
All this talk about guys and their dressing indecently is making me sick to ma stomach! First of all, the boxers that you girls claim guys wear in the house, did u notice that is worn inside the house and not outside? And at that, did you also notice that you visited him in his house?

Secondly, when its on the issue of the poolside, its only natral the we do and besides, the girls also wear thier bikinis too. So that aside.

Think of it, the females dress indecently outside the house and these days it's becoming the norm, everyone is follwing suit. It's like its done unconcsiously i don't know. Like i say these days, soon females will begin to bring out their boobs for us guys to look at without trying to hide anything.

Now, i aint saying that the guys are not entirely not to blame, but that the girls too are worse than the guys. After all, you don't see the guys wearing boxers and the shirt tucked inside of it do you? The poster should try and 'rephrase' the topic if possible.

On a last note, this is not a beef reply to the post, cus afterall, the ladies have always been a source of interesting discussion grin. We cool, aint we?
TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Movies In One Word? by DrLorenz1(m): 10:30am On May 26, 2008
Hey people, i thnk Nigerian movies are just one word, nonsense!

But then again, it's not that there ain't a few good ones, there are, but it's like a zillion to one ratio. At the early stages of Nollywood (though there was nothin like that), they used to make very good films, but these days, everyone calls himself a director or a producer.

I can name a very wonderful few of the good movies i can pick out. Till date, only a very fortunate few can beat films like Igodo, violated etc etc.

Well, what else can i say, other than so far, its been a zillion to one ratio.

What are y'all saying? Man U is the best team there is. I am a FAN of MAN U and will always be, no matter what is said or done. The fact is, you can't change the way things are right now.

I agree with VANARISO that said all Chelsea fans are agberos and the like. Someone actually said that to me just yesterday before the match. How right they were! TO make matters worse, me and my friends asked a young girl who she thinks will win the match and just like a true MAN U fan, she quietly said "Man U of course".

Y'all MAN U fans know how a Chelsea fan would reply,

More grease to the elbows of MAN U! We are the champions!

peace out!

I just want to say I LOVE YOU!

I guess that sums up the whole argument. Waterguns is meant for children and it doesn't kill. When Chelsea was on top, the gunners proclaimed their loyalty to us, saying we were friends. Now Chelsea is undergoing some stress, they're saying they the best. Well i belive that that day will tell, just like when Chelsea made the same mistake.

RomanceRe: Is It Right To Ask A Guy Out by DrLorenz1(m): 4:39pm On Oct 13, 2007
Well to me, i would say it's a thing of the mind actually.

I for one, don't give a hoot if a girl asks me out or not. What is important is if she really likes me enough to want to go out with me, with all my little faults. As long as she's genuine, then it's cool.

Also, the girl in question should be careful cus not every guy has the same mindset like mine.

In all, make you look before you leap.
