If you post, I will drop comments just for the hell of it. If people don't join in then we can switch to PLAN B which is to insult Mode9.  Java & khanye will be on your thread faster than the speed of light  grin grin grin
cheesy grin grin
U wan cause Hip Hop crisis? There's no Hip Hop police to check on things o. Perhaps we'll call in Chamillonaire for that. I hear say na Naija pikin. grin grin grin

Anyway sha when it comes to that, am solidly behind you, gbam!

ibkaye:
My dear, there really is no point, you will most likely have mobs of the hip hop infatuated posters trying to hack down your thread with ignorant claims of the unusual genre being either satanic or weird or only a few supporting posters will actually reply thus leaving the thread to die away  shamefully into the background, it's a cruel world.

It's like a different specie to some of them, as in aliens are attacking their beautiful music section. What ever happened to 'we come in peace'?
U're right, its a different species, but the truth is that we're embedding that species into our kind of music and for those that follow the music trend, they must have noticed that soon enough the music industry in Nigeria will experience a drastic change and i can say it's moving towards hip-hop, no matter how it's being dished out.

@C2H5OH
Wow! Easy on the foul language dude.
Its just that rock, country and classical are not popular at all in Naija.
They might not be, but it doesn't mean some people don't listen to it. I personally LOVE classical and rock (soft rock).

@poster
Post the thread first and see where that leads you. I don't think there's any website that rates music in Nigeria cus if there is, am sure you'll see people rating the other genres.
PoliticsRe: The Real Warri (with Pictures) by DrLorenz1(m): 1:30pm On Jun 01, 2009
Now now now. I wonder why people take Warri as a very dangerous place. Even those that stay in PHC and comes to Warri knows that Warri is changing. I've lived in Warri all my life and i can vouch for those pictures. There are the good and bad sides in Warri, just like very other city. Whenever i go to Lagos, my cousins always want to know how Warri is. When i tell them it's not bad at all they're surprised.

As for the crises, i'll let you know that when there was crises those days, i never heard a single gun shot where i lived (i live in Effurun). This recent crises, those of us in Warri actually have to read the newspapers and listen to news before we know what's happening. If Warri was a dangerous place would we do that? The media is the worst information giver when it comes to Warri, especially the Newspapers.

Someone in here said we should come check PHC. PHC is a place i can't stay. The trouble there is constant. I asked a friend of mine in PHC how the place was and he said "Bombs everywhere", and that's what you don't hear in Warri. I met someone from Lagos a couple of days ago, and he said like twice that he would like to settle here in Warri.

So all the Lagosians and Port Harcourt-ians, truth is, Warri is changing, and its obvious!

Exactly! When it comes to this kind of post, all the females would act like they're holier than the poster, running their mouths like they better than the person who's pregnant. Can they all say they've never been pregnant once in their lives, even if they have to remove it?

Even if they haven't, i'm sure they've seen girls who were pregnant and still became something in life, got married and were happy. Those girls still have their respect, because they never allowed what happened to them stop them from moving forward. Unlike some others who couldn't.

As for the males, u are all condemning the girl. Most of u have made girls pregnant and yet you're condemning a girl here. Granted she might not supposed to have posted this topic in here, but that doesn't mean you should condemn here. If you don't want to reply, you should just keep your mouth shut.

Now before you'all take your best shot at me, am not saying she did right by getting pregnant. What am saying is that what's done is done. And nobody holy pass.

Chikena!

Exactly! A forum is more than a question and answer session. Like i always say, to every question, there's more than a million answers and to every statement, there's more than a million possibilities and replies grin

From what i know, it's not an urban legend told to make sagging look bad. Sagging was done primarily for an entirely different reason before it came into fashion. U are talking about baggy wears, do you really know when baggy wears came into fashion? Perhaps you could tell me.

FashionRe: Boys And Girls That Sag: Do You Find It Disgusting? by DrLorenz1(m): 1:54pm On May 23, 2009
Nice post i must say and interesting views on the subject. Although i must add mine before i leave,

@poster
Most guys who sag doesn't even know the history on sagging, neither do they understand the reaction on our culture. Now am not saying other cultures are bad, neither am i saying we should emulate every culture thrown our way. U don't get to see the whites emulating our culture over there like it was the next big thing. So i guess the issue would be to ignore their ignorance and hope they understand in future.

@post
Personally if i see a guy sagging, i see that guy as someone who is trying to either cover up for his complex (this being that he has to do it cus his friends are doing it), or he's just plain ignorant and no matter who he is, loses all respect from me. Funnily though, i've seen some quiet 'decent' sagging  grin.

For the females, it is plain ole disgusting. I mean, why would a girl sag and expect respect, they've got to earn it. They talk about respecting women (not the ones in society cus they don't dress that way) and sh**t, but they go about killing that same respect. In retrospect, we should know that most girls do it for a particular reason. Most often (about 80% of the time) they do it for attention. Other times, they do it because it's fashion. Whichever the reason i don't think its a very decent thing to do.

Now for those who might want to run their mouths in unfavour of what i just said, PLEASE you don't have to say a thing.

Have a nice day,

Thank you for the link @Kobojunkie. Although i couldn't understand a damn word that was said lol. You see, I don't really want to build it myself considering the fact that i can't program. Perhaps you guys could do it for me grin. To answer your question, the idea is to program a code in a sound or perhaps set of sounds that will stop a particular action from taking place. Does that help? Let me know,

@Ghenghis
Am not thinking of voice recognition or commands, or security equipment. Rather like i explained above, it's about embedding a program in a sound to stop an action from taking place.

@Kobojunkie and Ghenghis
Let me have your email addresses please.

nolongTing:
Hey Dr Lorenz, Você manequim!,  grin cheesy wink smiley Ok! oh well sound is Analogue (continuous waves) and computers are digital (discrete) so this means you will need a software/hardware solution.  You will need to interface an ADC (Analogue to Digital Converter) to the sound (input) then you can make use of the reading - output signal.  ADCs and DACs can be programmed usually in Hardware code like MIPs (very labourious) or something like that.  Some can also be programmed in C but when it comes to which one or models, I don't know. Any way that's my opinion, could be wrong, good luck!
U speak French? That's cool. Wonder how many things you know. Anyway, its like my little project is becoming quite laborious to you. I thought it was a small thing before o. I thought you could help me out here but it looks like u can't grin. Let me ask you a few,

1. Sound being played in a pc can't be regarded as digital?
2. Is there no simpler way of just embedding the program in the sound? It can be a software solution, since you already have the pc.

I need an answer, i know its possible, so lets work this thing out together, except of course you're no more in the mood for this challenge. I used to think programmers and software developers LIVE for challenges. Hit me back,

If what i just read is true (that is he beats you), then i should say it doesn't matter wether he agrees or not, just go ahead and build the house. Its only a property and besides your children will prolly thank you for it later on.

@post

I'm in full support of that. If i marry a wife and she doesn't build a house, then she's not my wife grin. Although as long as she doesn't plan to divorce me am totally okay with it. If she likes she can build 50 houses its her own money. Chi ke na!

Hey Dr? Keep praying for me grin grin grin grin you like to pick brains don't you  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin Well, its a good question but your question is quite ambiguous, so let me ask two simple counter-questions:

1. What type of sound? Music, speech? Nature? Or Any Sound?
2. What is your overall aim?  For example do you want to use sound to control something (Control System)

look forward to hearing from you
Hey! Y should i keep praying for you? Tu est malade? grin grin Perhaps you have a la tete grin grin. Pick brains? Ah, i only asked a question o. Like you said, its a good question and one you didn't give me answer for. shocked shocked

To answer your questions,
1. Its any sound actually, but specifically music. Y'know, like in music production. Strings, Percussion etc etc
2. I like this one, My overall aim is to create a simple program and embed it in a single sound. Chi ke na! grin grin

I think we have to talk for you to really understand. U're gonna love what i've got in mind. Anyway, tell me what you think.

@Ghenghis

Quantized? More confusion! grin. Don't get me wrong, i have a little idea of what you're talking about, but i guess the terms is what am not. Since sound by nature is analog, and code is digital, is that why sound has to be quantized? So as to convert it to digital?

@both of you

Let's put my question in another way: Can code be embedded in sound? In which case, the code will work independently and with the sound?

TV/MoviesRe: Comedy Or Horror Films: Which Do You Prefer? by DrLorenz1(m): 6:00pm On May 06, 2009
I love Horror any day. Though i hardly get them to watch. I think i particularly like Evil Dead more because i feel that was when horror was really horror. These days, the kind of horror i watch to me, doesn't have the kind of effect Evil Dead had. Comedy is good, but i prefer horror.

Funny enough, 90% of everyone that posted to this topic are females. That's actually quite shockeding. I didn't know females watch horror films grin. I used to think they were all 'fraidy cats'. wink

@Secretz
I didn't expect someone like you to like horror movies o wink. You're right though, these days, the ones they make are remakes that arent even horror enough to make a kid have bad dreams cheesy.
RomanceRe: Quiet Vs Loud Guys by DrLorenz1(m): 5:31pm On May 06, 2009
This is a topic whose answer i believe lies with the individual lady. I mean a lady knows what she wants and she goes for it. Though some say they want this and go for another. Let me clear up some thing,

Some guys/girls say quiet guys are boring, but those same quite guys are the ones people actually listen to when it comes to serious matters because they hardly talk and when they do they don't invite people from the next room with their voice.
CareerRe: Are Nurses Promiscuous/Flirty? Is It A Myth? by DrLorenz1(m): 3:38pm On May 06, 2009
I've enjoyed readin all the posts about the topic and i appreciate the time all nurses in here took to explain things. I sure did learn a thing or two. But there's something i want to say,

1. While it may not be entirely or not true in the US, over here it just might be the opposite.

2. It depends on the individual. A nurse that flirts, before she became a nurse might have been a flirt so the 'character' just assimilated itself in the profession.

3. In every some rumour or perceptions, or impressions, there's an element of truth smiley. Haven heard of some stories by a nurse.

4. Just because some are doesn't necessarily mean that everyone is, am sure that has been taken care of.

Lastly, just like i read somewhere, i think the bottom line is this: Nurses Are Beautiful. Period. On the inside i mean, and this does not include the ones that are flirty grin

ProgrammingRe: Is Java Programming Harder Than Microsoft.net Programming by DrLorenz1(m): 11:58am On May 06, 2009
@ fellybabe

Quite interesting eh? grin I was about wondering if a female in here would say something grin. BTW, are you a programmer too? wink I'm yet to see a female programmer wink.

After going thru all the posts, i think the main argument wasn't exactly an answer to the post but a war of some sorts as to:

1. Who's used more programming languages than others

2. Who knows more about programming languages than others

3. And more,

Personally, am not a programmer nor a software developer, i wonder if there's a difference btw the two. I also do quite agree with Ghenghis, he said everything i wanted to say. I actually LOVE programming and would like to learn (really learn). I do have something to say though,

1. When it comes to which is better btw C# and Java, from what i heard from a friend who i respect very well when it comes to programming, its almost the same thing. If you can use one, then you can use the other. NolongTing actually said what i've always thought, Java is the first language to learn.

2. As for which is simpler, i don't really think any one of them is hard.

That goes on to one more thing i learned, which i think every programmer, developer et al aspiring ones should put in mind,

Every complex solution is a combination of simple steps

If one can follow that simple rule, then no language will be difficult.

Good information on the requisites and perhaps pre-requisites on how to be a programmer would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
