Romance › Re: Things A Guy Should Never Do To Impress A Lady by drnoel: 1:53pm On Nov 13, 2014
LaurelP:
We guys have been made to think that we must always do anything possible to impress the female folk. I'm not against a guy loving her babe, I'm against a guy doing silly things in order to impress a lady.

The truth is that most times, these actions come back to haunt us while, we get to regret at the end.

1. Consuming too much alcohol: most guys are guilty of this especially when trying to woo a lady or when taking her to bed. This is wrong in so many ways: it will damage your health, its a temporary measure, you most times end up misbehaving and its not a guarantee that you'll succeed in wooing or performing well in bed. Besides, the lady will know that you took something and that you lack confidence and esteem. Be yourself.

2. Spending above your means: whether its buying things you don't really need in order to look rich and fly, or spoiling the lady with things you normally should not be buying. Its wrong. I see a lot of guys do this and I keep wondering to what purpose? The worst is many of them come back to their senses when its already too late!

3. Lying: I'm not talking about the small lies guys normally tell, I'm talking about bragging to a lady about what you're not. Why tell a lady your father is Dangote's brother, or you're a Chelsea player, or you work in Shell. This will make her have high expectation from you which you would be trying to live up to.

4. Badmouthing your fellow guys: Maybe a guy that is also coming after her. Its wrong for a guy to maltreat his fellow in any way because of a lady. Whether its badmouthing, fighting or quarelling with him, its not worth it.

5. Giving your values and beliefs: Maybe you're a committed Christian or Muslim, you start backsliding or become uncommitted because she told you to. You start to abandon your loved ones and family, your studies begin to nosedive and even your job sef, you become unserious. Its a very silly thing to do because when the chips are down, those are the only things that will get you going- God, your family and loved ones and your job which will put food on your table.

6. Pretending to be who you're not: there's no need to pretend to be a bad guy if you're not. There are still ladies who values good guys. U don't need to force yourself to seem confident if you're a shy guy. People will know you're just acting it up.

Add yours please...
I don't have any comments on the rest but ur point 6 kind of jults me down memory lane. I realised from experience people kind of mistake being quiet with being nice. There was a girl I was chasing back then in uni that my cousin wanted. I was the quiet one didn't used to talk, see no evil type then.

Funny enof I am still quiet now and my wife still aski me till today how I swept her off her feet. I just dey laff.

Anyway, this girl I was after then liked me but felt I was too dull 4 her. Since my cousin was the happening guy in school she was hanging with him just to have fun but she never allowed my cousin go beyond her neck down.

Anyways, she used to come to my off campus apartment then to hang out after a long night of partying and my cousin used to tell me to leave the Chick 4 him, that she was too tough too hot 4 me. I jus dey laff dem.

Then one cold rainy night she mistakenly came to sleep at my crib cos she couldn't make it to the hostel that night. B4 next morning I had blasted her a couple of times and then kept sleeping with her till I graduated. The funniest part was that my cousin still kept chasing her but never saw her panties. When we graduated I confided in him that I was blasting her and he almost fainted.

One doesn't need to be a bad boy to get his groove. One only has to be himself. I used my quiet ways to get away with a lot of things and people always used to ask me "o boi how u do am?"

Then the underground convo came, with her guys.. like three or four broad voices, conversing in a lang,( not really sure if it Hausa.) Vivian said to them , she said he’s From akure In a comic way. The intonation shows she’s no Yoruba. ( and they were all laughing).I listetened for like three mins, I wanted to record, but the line was on my nokia TL phone.

The first step in being alpha is knowing yourself; strengths and weaknesses. Seek to improve yourself; be comfortable in your own skin.

2. Know the game, know the rules, learn the game, play it well.

3. What's the game? Survival and dominance.

4. Don't give shiit, don't take shiit.

5. Understand your environment; money, people, women, government; use accordingly.

Being alpha isn't learned in a day, it takes time, practice and patience. I'll be glad to help as much as I can.
Only children talk and think of alpha male bullshit. Women react to how ever a man presents himself. I dont have to be an asshole for comand respect, neither do I have to be a nice guy but I have never had to go out of my way to be respected by any woman I met cos I dont go looking 4 insults neither do I go asking 4 it.

talktimi:
By Francis Igata

ENUGU — Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, declared his intention to run for the 2015 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In an emphatic statement, the Governor said, “I will be Nigeria’s President in 2015.”

He made the declaration at a rally organized by the Enugu State chapter of the APC at the Igbozurume Hall, in Emene, Enugu State.

The governor said Jonathan was not an Igbo man and that the PDP-led government had consistently marginalized the people of the South-East.

According to him: “Jonathan is not from the South-East, the Vice President is not from here, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, and the security chiefs, none of them is from the South-East. Igbo people have no place in Nigeria. How can we say that PDP belongs to Ndigbo?

“Niger Bridge is 419, Enugu/Onitsha and Port-Hacourt Express way are all evidences of their hatred for Ndigbo; they don’t remember the poor, all our leaders in PDP are only interested in their pockets, they don’t care about our children’s education.

“We are angry and we said we have to come out; in Imo State, poor people are happy now, they study from primary to university without paying penny; our God party is bigger than their God, if what they are doing to the poor people here is good, let them continue but if it is bad, God will uproot them.

In 2015, I will be the president of Nigeria, I have gone to Kaduna, I have gone to Lagos, I am in Enugu today, they are already afraid; they are now calling for dialogue. If they are discussing those contesting for presidency on the platform of APC, Owelle will be the first, Buhari and then Kwakwanso; they said it was zoned to the North, I told our party, when did the meeting take place? I also met with my brother Ngige and we zoned it to Ndigbo.

“APC is an emergency party for new Nigeria, if PDP is doing well, I would not have joined APC, when God wants to do something, he does it from anywhere, it doesn’t matter whether Nwobodo, Ken, Nwodo, Ekweremadu are with us or not.

“I heard that some of them are boasting of money, but tell them that Rochas has come; any day you hear that PDP brought money with pick-up, tell me so that I will bring money with trailer. All these PDP leaders in South-East, if you put their money together, it is not equal to half of my money.”

I don't know if this is the correct section to post this but I recently travelled to abuja for business stuff and instead of staying in a hotel as I planned, my brother kind of forced me to lodge with him saying that it won't be proper for me to have a sibling there and still stay in a hotel.

The thing now is he is not always at home till late at night due to his job and he recently married just early this year and whenever I am back in the evening trying to relax and watch news, she will take the remote control and put nigerian movie that I hate.

The first time I didn't say anything and let it slide and started even holding unto the remote. But it seems like she has no fear and demands for the remote. There was even a time we struggled physically for it and this is a young woman of highest 30yrs

This story is long that I can't start telling all the instances. I have reported her to my brother but he just said I should leave her that that's how women behave that whenever I want to watch TV I should wait till she is sleeping angry. I am beginning to wonder who is the man of the house.

I have had enough. Maybe that is how she do drag remote with him. I don't know if I should leave the house or stay till I am done and teach her a lesson. This is an insult.
if u dont want to be insulted abeg carry ya plasma screen TV next time u go their.

BlueMurder:
The inspiration for this thread comes from Lizzymomma's thread on bearded ladies and their travails.

It seems as though more and more young men (myself inclusive) are greying up prematurely. I am on the right side of 30 at the moment but judging by the frenetic rate at which my black hair's being displaced, i could be all grey by the time i cross to the "other side" shocked

Initially, i used to be bothered about all the snide remarks about being an old man, being accused of age falsification and all that, and i was even tempted at a point to start dyeing my hair. However, i now take all the unpleasant remarks on the chin as i can't quarrel with nature abeg grin

So, greying young men, how do you cope?

Ladies, would you consider marrying a young man who has the hair of a 60 year old?
I was wondering when this thread would spring up. A nutritionist I know said premature greying is genetic but substances containing quinine, cola could be some predispositing factors. I find it funny. Am also in the young side of 30 but my hair is almost all white on both side. I fear they may get white even b4 I get into late 30s. I find it funny though and tell people it's evidence of too much knowledge. Funny enof when the initially started springing up, wifey used to enjoy plucking them out till they started growing faster than she could pluck em.
Politics › Re: 'you Are Blessed To Be White'-victoria Pepple of STV To 'white Nigerian' by drnoel: 2:15pm On Nov 09, 2014
CosmasNwokafor:
I don't think Victoria Pepple is suffering from a problem of inferiority complex, least she would not have been capable of assuming the position she occupies in the national limelight. In fact, she's one the few Nigerian ladies I respect so much, and STV management is not stupid to put such a figure at that crispy position which she maintains with utmost confidence that is needed of any world class broadcast personal.
She may not be that beautiful from her physical looks, but she possesses such inward beauty that is rare to find, and that is what the modern world should be looking out for. In fact, Victoria Pepple is a toast any day, anytime, anywhere.. She is a rare gem coming from a tribe and region where people are less creative and industrious, she has set a mark and a high record to beat for all Bonny young ladies and South-south ladies.
Such a lady with such inward beauty should not be hastily judged if at all she made such a statement, which I'm sure, came out from her beauty-reserved inside because filth don't grow out from beauty. She must have a very good reason for such statement. It's obvious that brains, wisdom, and skill is better than possessions. And this is where I must draw the line between the whiteman and the blackman. The blackman has natural abundance, while the whiteman has intellectual gift and developed skill. The question is, which one is better?
Over abundance, they say, is the cause of inertia. And that was and still is, the problem of the blackman. He's mentally lazy, greedy, and foolish. And for the whiteman: 'necessity is the mother of intention'. And that is the trigger point that caused the whiteman to overtake the blackman in the race to civilization. While the blackman remained complacent with what nature has provided him, the whiteman, not content with the meagre and faint resources his environment has for him, exerted his brain, found out it's potency, moved out of his confines, discovered the lounging complacent foolish blackman, took away his ability to think by replacing it with his own idiosyncracy and forever kept the blackman under his servitude and edicts..
I would have liked to continue, but... Victoria Pepple is sincere, just, impartial, assertive, objective, radical, and unassuming. She is right.

Politics › Re: How Jonathan Will Win In 2015 By A Buhari Supporter by drnoel: 11:08am On Nov 09, 2014
LordVarys:
This analysis was written by Simon Kolawole, reputed ex This day editor and owner of The Cable newspaper. Kolawole is noted for being a strong supporter of Gen Buhari and one of his closest media allies. That said, he remains a very unbiased and respected columnist. Here is his take on next year's race
I have been listening to comments and reading analyses on the 2015 presidential election with rapt attention. There is nothing unanimous in the predictions and projections, but I am sensing a trend in the analyses: that if the All Progressives Congress (APC) fields Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) against President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), then it will be a piece of cake for the former head of state. A Buhari supporter, in a recent newspaper interview, said Buhari's votes in the North plus Bola Tinubu's votes in the south-west equal automatic victory for APC.

Slow down a bit, guys. I have no intention of raining on anyone's parade or pouring cold water on exciting calculations, but analyses do not have to be this simplistic. If the history and politics of elections in Nigeria are to be of any use in these postulations, the safest bet will be to say there are still many rivers to cross. My intention today is to draw attention to several facts and factors that will be at play during the elections. Many things are still taking shape; opportunities and threats still exist for the PDP and the APC. It is too early in the day to arrive at definite conclusions.

Let us look into some of the assumptions one by one. The first is that Buhari will clear the votes in the core North and Tinubu will deliver the South-west votes in one basket. That Buhari will win in the core North has never been in dispute ─ he has done so consistently since 2003. It is unthinkable that he will not win there. However, I'm not sure Tinubu can clear the South-west the same way Buhari could do in the core North. It appears many commentators have not been monitoring recent developments in the South-west. To start with, two of the six states ─ Ekiti and Ondo ─ are now in the hands of PDP. That is important to note.

Meanwhile, the APC is getting weaker in Oyo state. The three APC senators have left the party; the death of Alhaji Alao Arisekola has dealt some body blow on Governor Abiola Ajimobi; former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala (PDP) is on a rebound; former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, who controls large portions of Ibadan, is complicating things for APC. In Ogun, Governor Ibikunle Amosun is under fire from within and without.  Chief Olusegun Osoba, in whose camp the Ogun APC senators and house members are, is playing hard ball with Amosun. The PDP, meanwhile, is bringing back its break-up groups and rebuilding in the state.

In simple words, Oyo and Ogun have become very shaky and it is a bit tenuous to assume the South-west will vote en bloc for APC in 2015. I may well be wrong, but I am seeing a split of the zone's 13.5 million votes. The South-west, in my opinion, is neither here nor there yet. No assumptions should be made and no conclusions should be reached yet, certainly not in October 2014. Of course, the APC is not sleeping and is also hoping to gain from the fall-outs from PDP's possible slips in the coming weeks. But South-west does not look like one-way traffic as at today.

Meanwhile, there is also this assumption that Buhari ─ or APC ─ does not need the South-east and South-south (SESS). That is ridiculous. First, it is not good for Buhari's CV that he has never won in any Southern state since he launched his presidential bid in 2003. Not one state. And it is also not good political strategy to downplay SESS. There are 11 states in these two geo-political zones. The APC calculation may be that the South-south would rather have a "son of the soil" as president. The South-east, it seems, is fully joined in matrimony to South-south under Jonathan's presidency. But does that mean giving up without a fight?

Let us now reverse the case. Jonathan, despite knowing that the core North will be a difficult hunting ground for him, is putting up a decent fight. He is working to secure as many votes as possible in Buhari's territory. The president has gathered many strong politicians to his side. Now let us do some basic calculations. SESS has 17 million votes combined. Buhari's home zone, North-west, has 18.7 million registered voters. If Jonathan bites off as much as 30-40% of the votes in the North-west (which he did in 2011) while Buhari does poorly in SESS (like before), Jonathan would clearly gain more than Buhari in the candidates' home zones.

Jonathan's chances, in the meantime, are also bright among the Northern minorities. It could be minority solidarity, I can't say. The North-central has 11 million names on the voter register. Jonathan's reconciliation with former military, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, and the governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, could help him in Niger state. Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa and Benue would ordinarily back Jonathan. But Kwara, which supported him in 2011, is now uncertain, with the godfather, Bukola Saraki, relocating to APC. Buhari will fancy his chances in Kwara, that is if Saraki can ward off his PDP foes, who look very formidable. In truth, Kwara now looks more like a tight corner for both parties.

The North-east, boasting of 11 million registered voters, could be a mixed bag. Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno have always gone to Buhari, while Taraba and Adamawa seem to have a thing for Jonathan. But something significant has changed in Borno: Ali Modu Sheriff is now in PDP. Since 1999, Borno has always faced any direction Sheriff pointed to, and his defection must be considered a loss to APC. I was not surprised at APC's reaction when Sheriff left: Borno's 2.5 million votes are the nation's fifth largest after Lagos (5.4m), Kano (4.7m), Kaduna (3.7m) and Katsina (2.9m). Being Buhari's familiar hunting ground, however, Borno could still be game for him.

Before I shut down my computer, I would like to maintain that unlike many observers and analysts, I foresee a very competitive election. And, I think, four months to the polls, we should avoid jumping into certain conclusions. One of the major failings of the opposition is that they underrated Jonathan's ability to respond to the momentum they gained last year. Before they could settle down to savour the heavyweight defections from PDP to APC, the Jonathan camp had launched a counter offensive, in addition to benefitting from crises arising from the consolidation process of APC.

Therefore, dear readers, with what I have seen in Nigeria in the last few months, and what I understand about the dynamics of our electoral politics, I would conclude that the day is still young.  For the two leading parties, there are still many hurdles to clear. Let the game begin!
