Omerian Consult: Nigerian senators yesterday voted massively in support of life pension for the members of the national assembly (house of reps members and themselves). The voting, which was done using the newly installed electronic voting board (reminds me of Who Wants to be a Millionaire audience) also killed the bill for local government autonomy.Source pl |
egift: God help NigeriaU can't suppress the truth of the power of an active mind. Let them do what they must, at the end of the day what would save them would be the truth. |
kunlekunle: if this is why SARO WIWA died,I don't think if ken saro wiwa was alive this things would be happening. Come to think of it, if he was alive na lot of things that has happened in that region would not have happened. Cos he would have been a god father of their politics and even maybe a presidential candidate. |
DivideUs: I think he should be promoted to the rank his mates are (brig gen) and then retired having missed promotion exams and training, the army may decide to retire him as a colonel tho so as not to pay so much in servicing him after retirement once the rank of general is attached e.g home guard(s) etc.But that would not be good. Let them retire him so he can talk. Are u not curious to know which people he would point fingers at. Do u not think that was why they wanted him killed. I want to see and read what he has to say and maybe his memoirs of what transpired at that time. |
ilugunboy: Barbaric and un-civilized behavior..But that's how it starts,...with a little unrest. |
An igokwe has come to court, a writer is finally here. Nigerians must not suffer this malady called PEJ. If the president can't control his wife, then he better think seriously about loosing his job. |
Don't see anything wrong with her comments, as myopic as they sound. They remain her comments, which is her God given right to profess. Funny enof, while reading her comments. I asked myself how silly she sounded, an African fiction writer who has no imagination. I wonder then how she wrote her books. |
Nope, but I'm Abian, and I believe (I might be wrong) that the term mazi is predominant among the igbos of Abia/imo. It can be used as a synonym for 'elder'; just like the Anambra/Enugu uses Nze and ozor. Like someone pointed out, the Ngwa people uses mazi as a form of greeting to an elderly person. I don't know if there's an official title called 'mazi' but I know the term is used loosely to indicate 'elder'.
I believe that Abians copied from IMO people, after all Abia was carved out of Imo. |
See, most of you reason like slaves.. So shoyinka has moral justification to insult someones wife? What you expected of her is to keep shut and not to take on the old man who failed to address her with respect? I pray your fellow man slap your wife before your eyes so you could see what will be your wife reaction. Only if you are a man.
Why don't u revisit the videos again. The Prof. didn't outrightly insult her. In fact he refused to say something directly to her. He only spoke to her husband the president to caution her, to put her in line that she was getting wild and making Nigerians uncomfortable. That was all. Now, it looks like its only in Nigeria or worst still only in naira land that people |

The ongoing crisis in Rivers State may have turned a new corner following the outbreak of violence at the House of Assembly Chambers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State but a recent release by a civil rights group appears to up the stakes. The group called on the Presidency to be prepared for full revolution similar to the Egyptian revolution. The group accused the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience of having played a role in the political crisis unfolding in Rivers State. Information available to 247ureports.com through a competent source in Rivers State indicate that the Presidency has begun plans to launch a mass arrest campaign against the pro-Amaechi lawmakers who may have played a role in the ruckus that broke out at the Assembly Chambers. The source also added that the presidency has toyed with the idea of declaring a segmented ‘state of emergency’ in Rivers State – in the effort to weaken the political base of Governor Amaechi. But this information has yet to be confirmed. According to the press release signed by the Executive Secretary of the group, Mr. Dino Melaye, [also a onetime lawmaker of the House of Representatives] titled, “Touch Amaechi, touch Nigeria” – the group chastised the President’s involvement in the unfolding crisis in Rivers State while warning that the life of the Governor of Rivers State remain in the hands of the Mr. President and his wife. In the words of the press release, “We will do everything within the confines of the law to protect our fragile democracy which the President or his wife does not know how we got it.” “Touch Amaechi and touch Nigeria, The abuse of law and order by both the anti-Amaechi legislators and the Nigerian Police is not only disgraceful but will not be tolerated by the mass of the people in this country. The Presidency cannot absolve herself from this satanic manifestation. Who ordered the military withdrawal from Rivers state Government House?” “What is going on in Rivers State is African magic. We leave Amaechi’s life in the hands of Mr. President and his wife. We give the IGP one week to remove the Commissioner of Police in Rivers state; failure to do so, we shall mobilize Nigerians like never before to occupy the Force HQ in Abuja. The President should get ready for the Egyptian treatment”. “Usurps will not kill democracy. The battle to safeguard our democracy is a battle of no retreat, no surrender. President Jonathan is behaving as if he has no legacy intentions. Try us and see, I dare the Presidency, Enough is Enough.” The Inspector-General of Police [IGP], Mohammed Abubakar was not spared by the group. He was given a one week ultimatum to act on the suspicious actions of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu in his role in the Rivers State crisis. “Failure to do so, we will mobilize to Force Headquarters in Abuja If this is true, GEJ and his wife really now have a problem |

benzine:I understand u well but that doesn't address the facts. Let's be clear minded here and not be judgemental due to sentiments. I also have no love for the Prof and was on the verge of missing respect for him when I saw the video but then after thinking the facts disinterestedly and logically. I concluded that it held water and that meant he was right. The problem is the mud slinging that comes after cos after lightening cos after thunder. |
