Business › Re: 10 Tips For Protecting Your Debit Card From Fraud by drnoel: 7:58am On Apr 18, 2017 |
infonancialhub: How well do you keep your debit card (ATM card)? Would you give anyone access to your bank accounts, unfortunately you are doing just that when you keep your credit cards carelessly, debit card takes money directly from your account, which makes them juicy target for fraudsters. Here are few tips that will help you protect yourself from card skimming or any form of fraud.
1. Update Your Bank Information Regularly: Update your the contact information (i.e. mobile number, e-mail, address, etc.) that you gave to the bank regularly. This will make it faster for the bank to notify you of any suspicious transactions.
2. Be smart with online transactions: Shop with credible merchants and look for secure transaction symbols like the “lock” icon on your browser that starts with “https”. Avoid using public hotspots for online payments, log out from a site properly after you make a purchase, if you can’t log off close your browser to protect your personal information.
3.Do a regular Check: Check your account balance and transaction history regularly. If you see anything suspicious, immediately report it to the bank. Review account statements from your financial institution or credit union when you get them, or better still sign up for electronic banking to get secure online access to your account day or night. Report any problems or questions, including transactions you think may be unauthorised, right away. Again, quick action can limit misuse and save you money.
4.Keep your PIN a secret You are advised to memorise your PIN, and never write it on your card or store it with your card. Do not let anyone else enter your PIN for you. Don’t give your PIN over the telephone. No company or person should ever ask for your PIN, not even your bank or credit union. If you use your debit card to make a purchase by phone, never disclose your PIN. Always keep your PIN a secret?)
5.Don’t wait If your card is lost or stolen, report it to your financial institution right away. By notifying your bank or credit union immediately, you reduce the chance that your card will be used improperly. Even better, you limit your potential liability – translation: the money you actually lose – for unauthorised transactions by scammers or hackers.
6.Watch your email Email is probably the most common method of identity theft and electronic fraud. Don’t provide your debit or credit card number, PIN or other personal information in response to an unsolicited email or online request. Electronic security pros recommend different PINs for different accounts. And it’s a good idea to change your PINs often.
7. Be Vigilant: Be vigilant of your surroundings when approaching and using an ATM. Make it a habit to cover your hand and pin pad as you enter your PIN on the ATM. 8. Destroy Old cards: If you receive a new card, make sure to destroy your old one. Make sure to cut across the magnetic strip and destroy the chip. 9. Protect your card If the magnetic stripe on the back of your card is damaged or demagnetised, the “swipe and buy” process cannot work. So don’t expose your card to magnetic objects, dirt and grit, keys or other objects that can nick the stripe.
10. If you’re planning to use your card abroad, let the bank know your travel dates and destination.

Romance › Re: Sad!i Gave Her My Brkfast, Wired Sum Moni In2 Her Accnt, Luk What She Did Next! by drnoel: 12:49pm On Apr 12, 2017 |
SorftWerk: I'm really sad right now... I never saw it coming, been dating this girl for 2 months now, she always calls me to check how I'm doing, most times that i don't have airtime on my phone, she calls to know how I'm doing and if I've eaten and all that, we never had issues for once except the day I tried to kiss her and she slapped me then apologized... I took it as nothing and we continued in peace, I see to her every needs, surprise her sometimes with some bank alerts, try my best to see her almost everyday.. We were just totally fine until something happened!
This morning, I was still working out at home when I heard my phone vibrating, I checked it and it was her call, I was breathing heavily from my workout and I can't control my breath, so I picked up. As soon as she heard me panting, she changed her voice and asked me what I was doing, I told her I was having my morning exercises, she still doubted me and asked me to tell her the truth, I repeated my self, then tried to change the topic by asking her if she misses me, she replied with "I don't know" hmmm, I asked her if she's eaten, she said no and I asked why, then she said she has no food to eat, then I said I was gonna prepare some food for her to be brought in the afternoon, "this was another surprise " she was shocked hearing it will be brought in the afternoon instead of morning, still she said OK like she was okay with it.
I quickly got the kitchen and prepared jollof rice for her as fast as I could and dressed it in a cooler before hitting the road, when I got to her place, she was surprised to see me, she asked me to come in, gave me an hug and took the food, (note that, I sent her 50k last week oo) so while she was eating, I noticed her hair wasn't done and it's scattered, I querried her about it and she said she has no money, didn't want to sound bossy by asking her about the last week's 50k, then I sent her another 30k through my mobile banking application, after which she smiled and said thank you.
We continued discussing then she finished with the food, I tried kissing her but she moved her face, telling me there's something she wants to discuss with me, my heart started racing fast, but I composed my self and asked her to speak, then she told me she'll be going to osun state next week, and she won't be coming back soon, and moreover that she's fed up of me... I couldn't wait to hear the rest I quickly took my food flask and bounced from her room heart broken, feeling used and denied, she kept calling me back saying she was joking but i'm gone already, I rode back home and saw her missed calls on my phone, she even hid numbers to call me, what is she calling me for? Why is this life so complicated when it comes to relationships?
What do I do from here? Every girl seem to only wanna use me and leave, why! Ur problem is that u appeared too needy to her. All women know that when u appear too needy to a woman, she will trample over u like a locomotive train. |

Mcowubaba: I'm not opposed to the ideology of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB.. But most times I think Igbos should look inwards towards their own leaders, before blaming the rest of Nigeria for the issues in their locality
This bridge, popularly known as Igwu bridge is located at Ndi Ebe Abam community, Arochukwu LGA. It fell over 3 years ago (July 2014), but up till now nothing has been done about. Linda ikeji and other blogs/newspapers featured it
TA Orji was the Governor when it fell, he was informed but he didn't do anything about it, even the PDP Led Federal Government was informed the did nothing (Goodluck Jonathan Was the President then, not Buhari or Tinubu)
The senator of the zone, Abia North : Senator Mao Arukwe Ohuabunwa has been informed numerous times, but nothing has still been done.
The current Governor of Abia State, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has also been informed, still nothing yet, that's why I always laugh when some Igbos are solely blaming Yoruba/Hausa people for their issues.
Also note, Nnamdi Kanu is from a nearby Community (Isiama afara) to this bridge
Igbos look inwards to your leaders before pointing fingers to one Oba or Emir..
BTW, I'm Igbo
Mynd44, lalasticlala OP is correct and I agree with him not becos of the bridge but cos its really a statement of fact. Igbos so far don't have people to be called leaders. That is rather sad. Until a clear thinking unbiased person comes out who has honor, this biafra clamour will only be just a clamour and not a struggle. |

Romance › Re: Ladies, Ask That Abroad Bobo These Before You Marry Him. by drnoel: 8:15am On Apr 12, 2017 |
SirJeffry: Everything I'm about to write down here is based on a family feud currently going on between a young man and his new wife here.
This young man has no steady job, lives a flamboyant life and post all kind of pictures on social media where he met the wife. I'm pained because the wife in question happens to be my town's girl and after hearing her side of the story, I was mad at her. Well, this is not the topic for today but let me give our sisters some advice here. These are questions to ask before someone brings you here to suffer unnecessarily;
WHAT DO YOU DO ABROAD? Let him tell you where he works and possibly show you his work ID. If he tells you he's a biz man, watch him closely, that could be a red flag. I know there are genuine bizmen but most unserious and unemployable guys abroad pose as bizmen.
WHAT'S YOUR DEBT PROFILE? Generally in America, if you don't have some debts especially credit cards, you don't qualify for certain things but that doesn't mean one should live on credit.
IS THAT YOUR FLASHY CAR OWNED OR FINANCED? This may lead to you driving today and trekking tomorrow. Without a steady job, car financing coys may take back their car anytime there's a default in payment.
DO YOU LIVE ALONE? This is self explanatory.
WHAT'S YOUR TOTAL SAVINGS AMOUNT? I know this sounds odd but try to get an extimate by calculating the amount he saves monthly. Ask him jokingly if he saves for his future family. He should be more family oriented than friends oriented. "Too much sending my guys money at home" is a no no.
Lastly, if he doesn't personally come down for your wedding except with a very cogent reason maybe life threatening, he probably isn't a legal resident ie no green card or citizenship. In this case, you may likely stay longer in Nigeria until he gets his papers before you join him. Refuse such union because sometimes, he may be tangled with a lady here already for papers, a union he may not easily come out from.
If ladies do this simple research before accepting marriage proposals from obodo oyibo husbands, rate of domestic violence among Nigerians in the States will be at its minimum.
Yankee marriage is favourable to ladies who their husbands already made the ground running. They come to consolidate on their husband's achievements and prosper it more. Now that's a master piece |
Romance › Re: Joro Olumofin's Letter To "Padlock Guys" by drnoel: 8:08am On Apr 12, 2017 |
Ovokoo: Who is a "Padlock man"? Any man who doesn't have tangible plans for his lady, yet stands in her way of finding love. If you've been dating a lady for more than 2 years and you haven't given her a ring; End that relationship today, don't be selfish, don't be a Padlock Man. Let her find Someone who will step up and is worthy of her time. Since all you do is :
1. You use one of the most important things a lady has which is her Time / Age / Youth ( She will never be 24 again, or 25 again, or 27 again) wasting her time is Detrimental.
2. You eat her food ( You've turned her into your real life Ekaete / or maid)
3. You've increased her V*gina mileage (You have been dating for more than 2 years and you have sex almost every day, what will be left for the next guy?)
4. You let her do occasional abortions for you because you know you won't marry her
5. You collect her money & Savings ( she gives you money because she's investing in you, not because she's a charity organization but she doesn't know she's investing in you to find your own Mrs right in the nearest future)
6. You're using her Star and Prayers
7. You introduce her to your friends / family and instruct them to call her IYAWO WA knowing that's what she wants to hear.
There are a lot of Intentional and Unintentional Padlock Guys who know that they don't have any tangible plans for a lady but yet keep her around and fill her head with tales of imagery love.
Ladies, it is your job to wakeup and realize that you're not this mans lover or girlfriend but you're his default mother / Sponsor. You cater for him, nurture and pray for him with a promise of 💍 Love. A promise alone doesn't cut it these days. SOMETHING TANGIBLE pays more. It's like you're investing in a business without insurance. Last week I received a mail from a lady who wanted to commit suicide because she dated this guy for 4 years, they broke up , 3 months later she saw his picture on a wedding blog. Ladies, This won't be your portion. Amen! It's not about prayers alone. Be aggressive, think like a man and use Logic instead of emotions
