Please which will you recommend for engine oil when changing oil. I have read that 5w-30/20 recommended but my mechanic said there alot of fake ones in the market and he recommended 20w50. This is my first service for camry 2007

I bought Toyota Corolla 2005 Sport car of recent -May, 2021. It came with the Owner's manual. A meticulous perusal, it stated that,"SAE 5W-30 is the best choice for good fuel economy, and good starting in cold weather" IF, SAE 5W-30 is not available, SAE 10W-30 oil may be used. HOWEVER, it should be replaced with SAE 5W-30 at the next oil change".

Pls I have an issure with a car I bought recently volkswagen touran 2.0 fsi .
The problem of the car was it was over gouged with oil after which it stated smoking.
According to the owner ,he said they have refused the oil to the normally gauge , and was told the smoke will reduce.
But it's one week now and the smoke it still there.
I manage to travel with the car which I end up buying close to 6 liters of engine oil.
And I also noticed the plugs don't fire well and the number two plugs socks oil but the rest plugs are just black but not socked like the number two plug.
There is also a check engine light on it.
The engine also vibrates due to this condition.
I need advice on what to do cos I don't want any bad mechanic to damage the already sick engine.

if you follow manufacturers oil specifications during service, engine can go 5x this odometer with no issue.

his engine is V6 2gr not i4 2az. Its the i4s that comes with the oil shortage defect not the v6. Op, i 'll advice you look for a closer alternative like this poster suggested. You could try other notable brands too just ensure you stick to the oil viscocity recommended by the manufacturer or a very close alternative. The 20w50 is a no no for me.

However, I’ve been to several petrol station & they don’t have this oil. I stay in Lagos. What other brand can I use ? Today someone suggested this & I want to be sure if it’s okay using it

Bros u mean the best time to drain oil is when the engine is still hot

You are right. It is full synthetic Oil, not mineral as Gaz alluded. And what OP have there is 5w40 Full synthetic oil which normally is cheaper than the 5w30 and 0w30 Synthetic oil. Mobil won't want law suit and will not package mineral oil as full synthetic oil.

I recently started seeing this new Mobil Super 3000 fully synthetic 5W-40 engine oil at their partner filling stations all around Lagos.

The details on the oil gallons are not well explained to specify the application on cars either by models, year of manufacture or certification/standards.

Has anyone come across this engine oil?

Have you used it on your car?

What cars are they recommended for?

Is it applicable to Toyota cars of engines from 2009 upwards?

Is it an alternative to Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic oil?

I need clarifications please.
