We drivers should start reporting lemon cars on this forum; just as I support car owners should report bad drivers.

[quote author=TheCar post=67994270]Please don’t you currently do vehicle inspection before collecting a car on rental?

I think it should be a must before you sign any agreement with any car owner.

Why would any driver collect faulty car that would eventually affect his performance?

I tire now ...that is basic thing before you collect car.. Someone needs to write a detail book on what uber drivers need to do before collecting any car ..they should be a class for it....

The ideal way is for drivers to pay rental on Day 1 of the week. And renew subsequently.

But most e-hailing cars are dead and nonsense.

For instance a driver pays rental and few days later, car develops an issue, its his loss..
All these car owners shouting #assurance, don't have #assured cars. Yes I said it. Your cars are dead. Quote me.

I will pay rental on day1 and renew subsequently for any tokunbo car in pristine condition.

But a Nigerian used car, previously driven on Uber/taxify, I will pass over.

Driver-partners, ensure to test the car like u are buying a car, before you pay #assurance.

Ask them why the previous driver dropped the car, even request for the ex-drivers number to ascertain what you are jumping into.

Most of these car-owners are liars. Quote me.

In, all, there are very few good men "car-owners, and partner-drivers alike"

P.S, I have ZERO tolerance for driver default.
I can only speak for myself in that order... I also stated that before any driver drops his assurance he must check the car first.. I even stated that a grace period of three days should be enough for the driver to see if his assurance car is worthy to be assured.. Now that been said ...
Mr. Man how long have you been on the thread? I belief that you have been long on the thread enough to know, who sells USA spec oil, know enough to buy tokunbo tires, know enough a good mechanic to go to on the thread, know enough to reccomend a good fleet manager ...All these know is easily on the thread for you to figure out.. Thanks for the responses so far, due to my lack of experience in car buying and me being a novice I need an escrow service that I can discuss with about the car I want to buy with the budget I have and maybe even listen to advise from the agent concerning other possible similar and better vehicle to consider in place of my initial choice and take charge of the search, diagnosis, documents confirmation and determination of the electrical and mechanical condition of the car.

I don't want to buy a lemon or problematic car that would make me miserable, that's why I need a professional to provide this service for me.
Carshopper can get you a good car ..I wlll highly recommend him ...we do have a lot of quack car dealers in the forum ..and if you buying any car ,especially Nigeria used.. Please first thing is to check for sludge... if the car has sludge in the engine, it is a red flag ..run for dear life... and you will thank me later.. I gave that advice to some one the thread few weeks ago.. Till now he is still thanking me. And if you buying cars from anybody ,please keep in mind that cars that are closer to the port ,will cost less o ..cars from new York, Rhodes island ,new Jersey basically East coast should cost less to ship ..for example am from the east coast.. It costs me $750 to do roro depending on the location of the car, you will be towing fees ,which at most should not cost you more the $300.. So when buying a car from any agent you need to ask those types of questions.. I would have love to help you.. But I barley have time for my own stuff.. Once again carshopper is the guy to go for.. And you can thank me later

Bros, I don't understand why you're trying so hard to coerce every partner into collecting the security deposit. Is it your car? The likes of you and gazzuzz that collect security deposit still litter here with stories that touch. Every partner must not be like you.

Uber collects cancellation fee, taxify doesn't. Gazzuzz collects 3k delivery fee to supply his 'one in town' Mobil 1, others don't. So please, allow other partners to do as they wish. While you concentrate on collecting your so called assurance fee from new drivers, others prefer to do due diligence and get good drivers with no stories. Everyone to his own kettle.

And to the drivers that are paying this assurance, hope you know you ain't getting that money back. And lastly, if you must pay assurance money, please, let it be a tokumbo. Don't pay assurance on a lemon car o!

Let me quickly ask some questions.

Please do share with us, as a Driver why you default in your weekly rental?

If it has happened to you before as a driver, what went wrong? What cause it and what did you do after that to ensure it never happen again.

As a driver, if you have never defaulted before in your weekly rental, what do you do differently from people that has defaulted.

Please come and share with the house.
My brother I like you o ... is this are trick question ? It is like asking a bank robber ,why did he rob the bank in first place now.. I had one driver, he had two wives ,young guy o ..one in Lagos and the other outside lagos.. Guy was doing good at first till he defaulted .. I was even planning to give him one of my tokunbo cars till I was advice not to ...we finally sack him collect my money.. This is way before assurance clause.. My brother if I tell you stories , I will need to write a book

You are rite my brother.. By the way raining season is here.. Me am taking my time.. Am waiting for the first batch of cars to fall victim to the rain.. The people that will suffer are ones that uber is the only source of income.. For a fact I will slow down bringing in cars ...once the rain settle down, will hear stores that touches.. Partners if you like continue driving your cars in the rain and all the bad places.. My advice which am not trying to force anybody, if you have a few fleet the ones that are down coz of the affect of the rain, just park quietly o till the rain either stops or roads are better.. There is no point fixing the same issues again that was caused by the rain and than put it out their to cause the same problem.. This is a mechanic season or they go chop money clean... Sir, manufacturer specification and manufacturer recommendation are 2 different things.
Recommendation is negotiable
Specification is non negotiable.
If you use the wrong specification from the recommended brand - you are at risk; right specification from a brand that's not recommended - no risk.

Specification.
Recommendation.
Maybe I didn't clearly clarify the two.. Bottom line to be on the safe side, people should follow either the manufacture advice or recommendation or specifications , either way Nigerians rarely do any of the above mentioned.. Look at Lagos transport system.. That was a waste of money and time .most of the buses are no longer working.. We all know why..

FYI I've been a silent follower of diz thread and I've learnt alot and am still learning.A driver dat will cause 50-100k damage to ur car and still dump it,how will 10k assurance solve dat?last resort is Police Case.As 4 d gated residence and mainland residence its part of d generics i got from diz thread,it means little or nothing.10k Assurance will not make a bad driver good or a good driver bad.You shud understand risk cant be totally eliminated in diz line of business no matter how safe u trying to play.If only BAD DRIVERS is written on their forehead den it means jackpot for partners but until den we keep taking d risk.
P.S; Its not the first car am trying to giving out.Tnks
If you had really followed the thread like you said u did.. U would have read the part that I said that "assurance". Will not eliminate all the problems, but it will help reduce it . Now the 10k assurance I stated is the least you should collect... if your car is in excellent condition or a tokunbo, why should you collect 10k deposit, when you can collect 20k... but I guess you read just to read not to read to undestand.. Now I said that if a driver is owing you ,you can use the deposit to cover the amount own ..and collect your car from him . You can also go after his guarantor to collect any balance own .. Half bread is better than none. But I guess you did follow this thread after all.. But at the end of the day, it is not really none of my business.. It is your money, headache ,not mine.. I do apologise for not minding my own business..
