Now to the final part of your analysis, there are things Called Preventive maintenance.

brake oil, waterpump, transmission oil, radiator coolant, axle oil, timing belts....

These are parts that should be replaced at certain intervals weather or not they seem defective.

You should read more sir.
And this is were to use synethic oil or not comes in ..so imagine doing all that miles... gazzuz one thing I noticed about elantra their AC and compressor seems to last very long ..every once in a while u hear corolla AC breaks down or other car brand.. But for elantra I never hear such ...am I talking out of terms with these

E better make i buy toks than this unknown shock wey no get name
My brother I have bought shocks from ebay for my elantra. They are non name brand o ..but trust me that shock is still going strong till.. Both the front shocks and back.. I bought it for $100 China USA spec made.. So it does not have to be name brand for it to be good .. We replace one of my elantra front shocks tokunbo on Wednesday from ladipo Three days later the shocks is leaking oil... I guess in the case of Mr. Autotrader he needs to prove that those shocks are brand name ...but keep in mind those shocks don't have to be name brand to be good.. It might not be as good as name brand, put if he truly bought it from USA, it will be a lot better than the junk sold in ladipo

Please be polite.

This is a business relationship not personal.

If he decided to divest his investment some people would be back in the labour market looking for new car owners to rent their cars.

If your contribution can't be constructive, just read, laugh and move on.

What goes around comes around. You can never say where your path would cross in life and if you start burning brigdes now, what happens when your path eventually match.

You might be his future in-law ooooo grin cheesy grin grin grin grin grin grin

FOR NEW DRIVERS

If a partner asks for security deposit ( especially these ones shouting 35k ) and you have the money, don't just drop the cash yet. Go and do a thorough check on the car
Inspect the car between 12 noon and 3:30 pm when the sun is hot ( to verify if the ac works. If the ac has to be turned to No 3 or high before it cools, then be wary of that car). Also ensure all the vents are OK.

Ask the partner to service the car before you pick it ( if it isn't serviced yet)

Check the lights front and rear ( for dead ones and non functional ones)

Observe the sound of the engine ( if it revs too high for a normal car)

How neat is the interior?( the seats, dashboard etc)

Check the body and paint. ( dented bumpers, faded body paint, dents, Scratches)

Tyres

If your partner asks for weekly delivery of more than 35k, flee. I repeat, FLEE

Remember they will always say you are to bear the cost of minor repairs. If you ignore these tips, then you will understand that these repairs are not minor. Your church members will contribute to help you remit your weekly debt.
Riders will rate you and your eyes will open. From 5.0 to 4.6
Ask the partner to state clearly in the agreement form what will happen to your security deposit at the expiry of the contract.

If you are satisfied that these are sorted out, you can then drop your hard earned security deposit.

A lot of factors could be responsible for this.

1. People are now enlightened.

2. Car Owners with good drivers are holding and treating them better like partners instead of master - slave.

3. Lot of drivers now couldn't pass car owners simple test. E.G. The mobile number of your previous partners, why did you leave etc.

4. Security Deposit - A driver paying security deposit takes the job and the business relationship more serious because something is now at stake.

5. Fasting Period - I understand business is a bit dull due to ongoing ramanda.

6. Verifiable Guarantors are getting scared. Car owners now understand the importance and essence of Guarantors.

7. This thread is not only the Uber/Taxify community on Nairaland and .

8. Drivers are getting educated about the importance of vehicle inspection before paying security deposit.

9. Migration - Some drivers have move to the other side of the business chain. They now drive their own cars.

10. School are in session and people awaiting NYSC callup letters are lean at the moment.

11. Car Owners are now taking driver recruitment more seriously.

12. Abi cost of car acquisition don reduce.

Anyway, I like the new direction. Hopefully we will have less Kazeems as Car Owners and less of Henry (Gazzuzz's guy) or Bayo (HP guy that dump car) as drivers on the platform.

Cheers.
You dey forget say maintenance costs.. It is running people out of business... and some smart drivers are running away from bad cars too .fix these one tday ,that one 2morrow it gets tiring o.. I dey enjoy the raining season sha ...we go see how many cars left the flood season...

There are so many cars for sale in Abuja and Lagosians are trooping to buy and bring to the platform.
Abuja has excellent roads compared to Lagosians, but I noticed those guys will never go to mechanix unless something major. You all know how you take your cars for one repair and end up doing 5 repairs. That one no be for Abuja peeps. You'll see clean rides, probably tinted, but if you hear suspension noises you'll run. Their mileages are equally very high.

Drivers be careful.

I was in church one day when they were discussing uber business and I just laughed. People are buying all manner of craps looking for drivers to dump on. Their usual shock is when they hear "make 150k per week" for their mind, they'll assume at least 75k for them. After buying the car and 30-35k hits them plus repairs, many just give up and blame drivers.
This business sha, advise your neighbours, to avoid stories that touch the heart. Many are using susu money to buy craps.
Don't worry stories that will touch will surely increase

The market is regulating it's self.

bad drivers Have run out of guarantors, no one wants to sign anything on their behalf, Car owners are smarter, Drivers are identifying dead cars easily, some Bad drivers, have started repenting Fresh Cars coming in, old cars being sold on NL, jiji, checki and on the road side New investors coming in every day, the rains will hit hard and some cars will frustrate their owners, drivers will start looking for other cars. it's a cycle.
You shall live long my brother.... Plus assurance deposit has picked up steam among owners... I made a post about the rain thing few days ago.. I stated that it is better to either reduce your fleet during the raining season, or park the car if u still fixing the same thing that is cause by the rain factor.. I stated that people that depend on uber has the main source of income go hear am this period... also the fact that repairs will drive owners out of the business.. It is sure regulating itself... I need some accolades ooo..

quote author=Lapari post=68012568]Morning guys... Pls is it allowable for a driver to use the car giving to him and travell to Abuja ? He's been working for me for 3weeks and doing very okay but now he went off line and took a client to abuja .. I'm not too comfortable with that .. Pls any advice ? Thanks
Not to do busy body o .. But see if you can set your tracker that will shut off your engine if anybody drives it pass certain location.. For example if your car travels pass lagos like towards Ibadan ,the engine will shut off automatically.. Some car tracker do have that option ...and don't forget Team # 'Assurance'

Hope you selling original products and not Chinese clones?
Even parts in sold in Yankee are China made ... only difference is that there is basic standard for those products... for example imagine if an American company imports phone charger from China. And the phone charger is the cause of a house fire... trust me that company will be sued . So in order to avoid that the company follows safety standard and quality standard too

Maybe the driver should find another line of work.. People need to know what they are getting themselves into, especially if money is involve

To all potential / uber investors out there or currant ones.. I will speak in parables... " assurance, assurance, assurance". Don't joke with it ... it is the best way to go , it will not solve all your problems ...but it will reduce your risk. It is like getting insurance for your car... I speak in parable people... I speak in parable.. Those that fail to learn from others , will have the themselves to blame... I speak in parables again... I gain nothing from warning people on the forum.. And car owners fix your car up for "assurance"...
