Abi. Me no experience guarantor matter. 1st car, partner {stranger} just came to my house, had a friendly chat with my aunt he met. Took him to a bar had drinks and work started. Current car, partner(in my neighborhood) said he would bring the papers to sign. I should bring guarantors... Oya i am ready. He didn't talk about it again.
He just dropped keys with me, till now.
Car is healthy. Remittance: no stories.
A good driver is a good driver...

When people don't take their business seriously, sh * t always happens.. That is why a lot of partners cry up and down ..in any business a person does they should be a level of professionalism and constanticy ...just because a partner decides to trust you without proper protocol does not mean he will get lucky next time.
To be honest with you ,am just waiting in the corner rite now waiting for a lot of partners to get burnt out from drivers.. A lot of these partners don't listern or learn from other people's mistakes. I hope they will continue and pray that they will continue giving out their cars without due diligence.. That is my prayer, so that once the foolish partners are eliminated ,the real business men can set a standard for this business.. Partners please continue to give out your cars without assurance, due diligence, proper protocol , etc .. Please continue, by the time you are dealth with by bad drivers it will be too late ...oh boy what a time to be alive cool

The fuel pump gets damaged when you continuously drive your car on low fuel tank. It sucks in rust particles which damages the pump. I have told the OP what to do. I am out.

. My brother the point is Nigerian fuel does a lot of damage to cars.. It is hidden cost that we pay later.. It is the reason why I don't buy Nigerian used cars.. On that note it was nice talking to you..

That is why does not make sense to buy high end cars in Nigeria.. The fuel only damages the fuel pump.. It is the reason parts dealers are making money ...there is a cause and affect.. So you telling me those cars are running ok ? With low octane.. Never bro, those cars breaks down like mad one way or another.

Dont mind them bro.. USA has the strictest standard in the world, when it comes to cars coming into the USA.. They don't play around.. Look at what happen to Vw , they lie about their emissions about their cars .. VW had to pay billions of fine.. If the engine oil is damaging cars in the USA, that will be a ground for law suite .. But for the Nigerian market anything goes u can't blame the company now .. Even China products that enters the USA has the basic standards they must follow .. Nigerian oil sold for Nigerian market will not pass the American standard

Another fine example ,toys coming from China had a chemical that was very harmful to little kids, it contains lead posious in it. They had to ban them .. Coz kids were getting sick.. The parents went after the company in USA

The brand name does not matter. Castrol could be recommended because of a partnership between BMW and castrol. The recommended viscosity is more important than the brand. A premium brand with the recommended viscosity will do its job.

Once you know the premium brand that are in the Nigerian market, please let us know.. Am very curious to know

For me personally, I don't know much about cars , but trust me bro if I bought a new car for $250,000 trust me I will follow the manufacture advice .. Am not taking any chances, whether they have a partners agreement with the oil companies or not.. So in case my car develop faults, I can point the finger at them .. The first thing they will ask you, did u follow the manufacture advice? Engine oil is not what you play with when it comes to high end cars my brother. This cars are very sensitive o

It doesn't have to be made in Nigeria. My uncle drives a BMW and he uses German adler and the car has been fine for 10 years now.

For now .. Just because your check engine light is on . And the car still drives, does not mean the car is fine. It's a matter of time.. Before the car packs up .. Always follow the cars manufacturer advice.. So in case something happens you can hold them accountable

You must know a lot better than the manufacture o . Kai so the car reccomdation is castrol, so u ignore the manufactures advice abi .. Wow so tell me now if you drive a 70m naira range rover ,would you risk it and ignore the manufactures advice?

Oga Gazzuzz. its me and my Lexus IS250, the thing is giving me sleepless night or rather uncool daytime driving..

now my ac had issues, i changed every every that made it an ac, which includes, compressor, evaporator, condenser... costed me a leg and an arm... after that its been one issue or the other, some of the issues include

i hear a kak kak kak sound (like iron hitting each other maybe they're making out) coming from the front legs; my mec guy changed the bearing ;still same then another mec said it is the steering thats making the sound which is so not true cis i know what i hear and its not from the steering but he said i have to service the steering

the car kinda misfires (speeds up above my acceleration tap) although minimal which i presume is exhaust leakage..

it shows "oil maint reqd' , "check engine", "check system" on the dashboard

there a mark on the inside part of the front left tires which i think might be the tires touching the body when i turn fully (my mec said he might have to grind the caliper)

see the thing is i was wondering if i could bring the car to your workshop, my reason is i would like to turn the car to a brand new

Are u using the rite engine oil , the manufacture reccomdation? That is step one you need to answer

Prevention is better than cure.. He should follow the manufacture advice.. If you can afford to buy 5m naira car, u should able to buy the best oil and have the best mechanic to fix it

This is issue with Nigerians we tend not to follow directions.. If the manufacture advice that castrol oil is recommended, why use something else bro .. In the states if you go against the manufacture advice, and the engine develop faults , the warranty will not cover it.. Are u telling me u know better than the car manufacturers? Smh ...

I currently use Castrol (aka Castor Oil) for BMW X5 04 but the engine oil is scarce as its original is only available at the head office in VI. I'd like to switch to one that's of the same quality and widely available at different outlets.

So my question is what is the best engine/motor oil to use for the BMW X5 2004 version?

I have some oil coming this week all USA spec. I have castrol full synethic and mobil oil full synethic.. For high end cars like your BMW.. I plan on bringing USA spec Castrol edge 5w30 and 5w20.. Keep in mind all these are USA spec ..made in the USA.. Do your research .. Read the oil cab it should tell you .. I also Google it .. Castrol edge 5w30.. For the safety of your car bro use what the manufacture advice.. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish ..those cars are very sensitive, once the engine start messing up , u are in trouble.. I will have the edge soon nxt month ending usa spec 5quarts for 22500k .. Be on the look out

Plenty drivers now oh.i wonder if drivers are still able to meet up to weekly targets at this rate.Saturday was a struggle and yesterday sunday was no better.meanwhilw for the person asking about fake requests so far as it is uber you are placed back on the queue since you will still be within thr airport vicinity after you cancel the fake request.

Me am confused o.. Too many drivers are asking for cars o . And I can't keep up at all... this is very strange weird... abi nay step up from drivers

Yes Boss, Security Deposit a.k.a Assurance isn’t everything and nobody claims it’s a perfect system but as at this moment it’s working and if we don’t have Driver defaulting on pre-agreed weekly rental no car owner would be asking for security deposit from drivers.

At the highlighted words, Insurance covers accidents and if Na me, I go clear my car but the driver would be the one making the payment.

He can run but can’t hide.

Trust me, that’s when you understand the meaning of the terms of the agreement you signed and your suitable Guarantors that signed for you.

Don't mind him.. Tell him also that comprehensive insurance is not everything.. Am sure insurance will not cover the car if the driver internationally damages the engine by putting salt inside the fuel tank

Dru, you are totally right on this. I had a driver that I trusted so much but he took my trust and leniency for granted. He collected my car on rental without any security deposit, all i asked from him was his original drivers license so he was driving with the laminated one. Since he took d car(tokunbo) on rental it was story upon story until Last week that i couldn't tolerate his stories anymore. At this time he was owing me 45k so i asked him to bring my car which he reluctantly brought, my car was looking dirty, he wasn't checking oil level and car engine could have knocked if driven one more day. To cut a long story short he dropped d car and left without any remorse knowing fully well d bad state he put my car. The next day i called him in a friendly manner that I wanted him to drive me to somewhere and he obliged. He came and I quietly collected his phone and d laminated drivers license, in less than 2hrs he brought all d money he was owing me and I made me buy new oil for d engine as a result of his negligence.

Thanks for your input o.. We are all here to learn, you just give me a great idea, maybe from now I will start collecting their laminated drivers lincense ..it cost money to have it replace.. And I will talk to my manager about it.. This business is a jungle o ..unfortunately for me I be gentle man.. But in this Buhari time it is a jungle and a uber partners can't afford to be a sheep among wolves ..thanks for your input and hopefully people are learning from the thread

Take for instance that partner whom the driver set his debit account on Uber back by over #48,000.

Never say never.

Bottom line... owners should collect assurance deposit.. It will limit your risk.. If I had collected deposit, the debit would have been reduced or non existed... owners should collect assurance deposit period...
