Romance › Re: Which Of These Can You Marry And Why? by Dshocker(m): 11:46am On May 06
Fiscus105:
If you are to married one of these ladies with character below, which one will you use and why?

For me, I will choose religion and gossip. Because I'm less concerned with whatever anybody says about me or others, you have your mouth to say whatever you want.
Both Daddy G.O, choir master, usher go knack your wife wetin no good.

The worst woman to marry, is the religious type.
Career › Re: I Agree With The Statement Of What The CEO Of Moniepoint Said And Here's Why by Dshocker(m): 11:41am On May 06
IyaTola:
Nigeria has talent. That is not in doubt.
But talent alone is not enough in a global market.

Recently, the CEO of Moniepoint mentioned they had over 500 open roles they struggled to fill with Nigerians who meet global standards. That statement may sound harsh, but it reflects a reality many recruiters quietly deal with every day.

The jobs exist. The opportunities exist.
But there’s a gap between available talent and job readiness.

Let’s be honest about why.

Yes, our education system is struggling. Many graduates leave school without practical, job-ready skills. But beyond that, there are patterns we need to confront ourselves.

Take social media, for example.
Entertainment dominates attention. Comedy, gossip, and viral trends outperform thoughtful, educational content almost every time.

And no—it’s not just “the algorithm.”
The algorithm amplifies what we consistently choose.

When serious conversations struggle to gain traction, while light content spreads rapidly, it reflects a deeper preference. Over time, that preference shapes our thinking, our habits, and ultimately, our competence.

We are living in an era where the internet gives us access to world-class knowledge—for free.
Yet many people spend hours consuming content that adds little to their growth.

That is not just a technology problem.
It is a discipline problem.

But that’s only one side of the story.

Recruiters hiring Nigerians often highlight additional challenges:

- Skill mismatch: Degrees that don’t align with industry needs, especially in tech, finance, and operations.

- Poor communication skills: Difficulty expressing ideas clearly, both in writing and speaking.

- Lack of problem-solving ability: Many candidates struggle with practical thinking beyond theory.

- Inconsistent work ethic: Not necessarily laziness, but lack of structure, focus, and follow-through.

- Entitlement mindset: Expecting high pay or senior roles without demonstrable skills or experience.

- Weak digital literacy: Basic tools like spreadsheets, email etiquette, or documentation are often underdeveloped.

- Poor interview preparation: Candidates showing up without researching the company or role.

- Limited accountability: Blaming external factors without actively improving personal capacity.

These are uncomfortable truths, but ignoring them doesn’t make them disappear.

At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge systemic realities—unemployment pressure, economic instability, and limited access to quality training also play a role. Not everyone starts from the same position.

Still, personal responsibility remains a powerful lever.

So what can you actually do?

1. Be intentional about what you consume.
If your screen time doesn’t challenge you, it is limiting you.

2. Engage with content that stretches your thinking.
The most valuable insights are often not the most popular.

3. Learn how money works.
Financial literacy is no longer optional.

4. Build a practical digital skill.
It doesn’t have to be advanced—start with competence, then grow.

5. Strengthen your communication.
Clear thinking and clear expression will set you apart.

6. Develop consistency and discipline.
Talent without structure rarely scales.

7. Work on your character.
Skills may get you hired, but reliability, attitude, and integrity keep you employed.

There are opportunities out there. Real ones.
But opportunity does not automatically translate to access.

Preparation is the bridge.

The seats may be empty.
The real question is: are you becoming the kind of person who can sit in one?
Let him get out, he sounded like he is the most intelligent in Nigeria, besides, he was looking for tech gurus he would pay less than 100k a month.
Romance › Re: What Does It Mean When A Girl Constantly Gives You Money? by Dshocker(m): 3:42am On May 06
Goodmarlian:
I run a food delivery business in campus and there is this lady that always order food from me and I deliver it to her in class, she is my very loyal customer but I notice I did something one day that I believe made her attitude towards me change.

One day she ordered from me but because I had other deliveries to do I didn't get to her class on time, when it was finally her turn I got to her class three was a lecturer in the class, a mean looking male lecturer I could see his face from the window so I chatted her up that I am with her food that she should come have it, she said she can't come out because of lecturer in the class, the food was getting cold plus because I have other deliveries to do, I summoned courage and entered the class, knelt down and greeted the lecturer with a smile on my face I showed him food I was carrying then headed them I head straight to the girl and gave her the food then I left.

She text me on WhatsApp immediately and said she admired my courage, ever since then each time I deliver food she always dash me extra 1k to my delivery fee, this has being running for a month now, plus she urges her other friends to add more money to my delivery fee anytime they order food.
On today's episode of things that never happened, just continue, keep cooking up stories, mr chef.
Romance › Re: She Stopped Picking My Calls After This by Dshocker(m): 2:40am On May 06
lovediehatelive:
Few weeks ago I met a girl and kept contact with her.

Everything was going on smoothly until I asked her to come to my place.

I already prepared my mind for 'NO', and that's what I actually got. I felt it's the usual not wanting to appear cheap so I tried again, she said she was busy.

It was on a Saturday. I lock up and continued with my life. The next day (Sunday) Mancity and Arsenal had match and I wasn't missing it for anything.

If she had accepted to come over, I would have planned my schedules so as to watch the game after that be with her or so.

But since she wasn't positive after second trial I assumed she won't be coming again.

Lo and behold just before the end of 1st half, (after Dounaruma mistake that Harvertz scored) her call came in, and she wanted to come!

Told her I was watching match I'll call her when I'm done.

That was it.

After the game I called but she didn't pick up. Messaged her on WhatsApp but she's not replying.

Since then she's been giving me attitude.

She's supposed to let me know on time, at least a day before, so that I plan my day, not towards evening by 5PM of the same day.

It's not as if I rejected her, I just can't leave my match for her even though I later called.

Has anyone ever experienced such?
She is a hook up girl that has been booked down for the weekend, but her appointment was denied, na the reason she called you back.

Literature › Re: Help Me, One Smallie Is Trying To Snatch My Husband From Me by Dshocker(m): 1:38pm On May 05
tonystark007:
Growing up, I read a lot of stories from different platforms on Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram and Instagram about women who stay with their cheating husbands

From my teenage years, I knew I would never be one of such women

I was always trending on instablog, gistlover, and other popular blogs, because of my belief and strong opinions.

I took on men, women, everybody, always arguing with them concerning my stance on cheating husbands & submissive wives

'I will never forgive my husband if he ever cheated' was my mantra
Either I cheat back or I divorce him

I told myself I was never going to be like my mother, who kept forgiving my father for his numerous sexcapades until she became a second wife

All the men I dated, I dumped them after they cheated on me but not before cheating on them back and deliberately allowing them to catch me in the act

Afterall, what a man can do a woman can do better...right?

I was a feminist to the core!!!

My last boyfriend I dated before I got married, I taught him a lesson he has never forgotten.

I cheated on him with his younger brother and let him catch us in the act. He never forgave me and I didn't care, afterall, he cheated first with a girl young enough to be my last born

Today, I'm here to confess that I am no different from the women I used to despise and loathe because they chose to endure instead of giving up and tolerate just for peace to reign

I’m now trying to save my marriage and there's nothing I can do about my situation but turn the other cheek

Right before my eyes, one small rat is trying to snatch the very man I swore an oath on the altar to love and cherish, through sickness and good health, till d3ath do us part

The worst part is, I brought her into my home!!!

A man who showed me that all men are not the same

One who doesn't do gender roles but believes in equality in the home and beyond

A man who cooks, cleans, does the laundry, and even the dishes and still provides all I want without complaining

A man who has never put his hands on me not even by accident. The true definition of a gentleman!

But today, I have realized that all men are indeed the same because why is one small rat trying to steal my man and she’s not even trying hard but he's already falling like a fool

This is a man I worked hard to build, suffered with when he had nothing…
suddenly, out of the blues, this husband snatcher who only just met him few months ago is already succeeding in robbing me of my husband's love and affection

Every day, If he hasn't heard her voice, he isn't himself, whatever he thinks she wants, without her even asking because she can't, he is running out to get it!

Once he finally has my time, this my cute daughter will come crawling up to the couch to sit or lie down between us just so her father can carry or play with her and neglect me

Meanwhile, it is I who carried her in my womb for 9 months, the only time she remembers me is when she wants to suck

But this man, even when he's in the office, he does video call to talk to his baby, weekend, he's always carrying her & even at night, she sleeps on the bed between us

Help me, my daughter is trying to snatch my husband from me. So, I'm birthing a boy next.

Get ready for your own rivals honey.
Two can play the game.

I doubt that, video games rather take your money than to give you money.
Have you heard of NBA 2K, people make as high as $5k monthly playing it.

Yes, take rockstar for example and they still make mad money.

Just make a good game and make it online, people will buy and play. But unfortunately video games are not for Africans.
I actually meant, if there are online games i would play, and get paid?

I've rarely come across anyone professionally doing game development for a living in Nigeria except hobbyist or for fun. Like I use pygame in python sometimes to create fun stuffs for family or friends.

Do people actually use unity 3d and unreal engine and make a living in Nigeria? Maybe Lagos? They are even more rare than mobile devs.

Any game developers here?

What's your take?
Are there video games people make money from?

Lol.. isn't it amusing how some people think "Buhari dead and replaced by Jubrin from Sudan" type of propaganda runs the world?

Same way they believed 'Ogbunigwe' is nuclear level weapon that would defeat the Nigerian army.

Dem don begin hyping their political Ogbunigwe and disregarding Kwankwaso as if he is a bystander.and window dressing for their messiah.

So obvious how this will end. Datti, Kenneth Okonkwo and virtually all initial allies of Obi always turn into his critic and adversaries who have clearly lost respect for him once they observed him up close. Go figure.

Kalulu44:
Good evening and happy Easter to you all.
Guys, I need your say or contribution to this weird situation at my place of work.

My place of work is a hotel/apartment where people lodge.

Some minutes ago, 3 people (2 male 1 female) wearing white garment came and said they were directed by the owner of the place who's abroad to come and pray.

They started their prayers by placing and burning candles at the 4 corners of the hotel.

Which now infuriated the lodgers who are mostly guys. They came out and started threatening to stop the prayers and put off the candlelights.
It has been pleading upon pleading from me and my fellow workers.
.
They're insinuating that the owner of the place wants to take or be using their glory and destiny. As I am typing this now, they have all left their rooms, saying they can't sleep there. Not even one person is remaining, though they have all paid. And will come tmrw to come lay complain to the owners daughter who manages the place but only comes during the day.

According to some of them, they have never seen a thing like that before. And if the owner must do such. She should have set a day aside when we won't take in any lodger and then do whatever prayers they like.
.
Honestly, since I started working there this is the first time I'm seeing such or anywhere.
I just pray it won't hinder people from coming to lodge here again.

So guys, what is your thought about this?
I came across this same post, some time ago in nairaland, i don't know why, it made way to front page.
