chimuchi:In the event that you no fine, what's your refund policy? Any uptime guarantee? Can I ping your "server" by 3 am and get a response? What's your maximum timeout per session? I'm just a concerned business man interested in doing business with you. ![]() |
Let's go back to the manual and see what these applications were built for: Fireworks was made to build and export web graphics in an elegant way. Following the popularity of mobile devices like the Apple iPhone it is now often used to mock up and design user interfaces for apps. You can guess what Photoshop was made for. Correct, Photoshop was primarily built to correct and manipulate photography. While Photoshop offers many ways to manipulate photos, it has a lot of built in features that can be used for web/interface design. You can use Photoshop to produce screen graphics but also for advanced print stuff. http://ivomynttinen.com/blog/the-endless-fireworks-vs-photoshop-battle/ |

. . . therefore their honesty wasn't put on the table like a choice among other options. Meanwhile what is it with bashing Nigerian host service providers at every hit. . . and it has to be so generalized? |
There comes a time in the growth of every successful company when the founders recognize the need to pass the baton to new leadership,Which day Seun go resign? My thoughts sha, ignore ![]() |
Photoshop was built for major graphics editing. Fireworks was built for web graphics. I find FW very easy to use for web graphics. PS na long thing. If you want to invest time learning, could try Photoshop. You cannot master FW and walk into PS and expect to use your FW mastery. You can however master PS and enter into FW with your PS mastery. |
Dual Core:My God, where did I take the codes off to?!! I can't even remember for what particular job this was. ![]() abbeynism:I will look into the prestashop documentation and get back to you in 48 hours. Last time I looked at Prestashop it was poorly documented, hope things have changed. pc guru:I don't really know about Nig but in the international freelance setting I see most people asking for modifications on OpenCart, Prestashop and VirtueMart. OpenCart has more requests, followed by Prestashop |
My response to this thread can be found here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?action=profile;u=161999;sa=showPosts It was chopped by the bot. Guys please this should not degenerate into accusations and counter accusations. . . if you two have some business to settle, settle it within the confines of your business environment. |
The problem is simple and not a Nigerian thing. Its inexperience on the part of the host service providers and the clients. Servers are machines but really with the present stage we are at with technology it will take a considerable amount of time between server crashes as a result of faults. Most of the downtimes or problems you experience with your hosting provider may not originate from the datacenters. Most are as basic as an inexperienced support techie with happy fingers, rattling server configs until something blows up. Linux commands do not really have "Undo" so if you brick a server there is not "reset" button. Again, most service providers in Nigeria are somewhere around the middle of the service chain and have to pay some major money to get reseller rights. Since they do not have direct access to the upstream provider, their failure to pay their monthly lease fees. . . for any reason (sane or insane) will mean a suspension of their account. . . there is no abeg in the matter, ofcourse such suspension will affect the downstream customers. Another problem is support, sadly its zero here. You can't expect to receive technical support and I am yet to see a webhosting company (that I am not linked to) in Nigeria with 24/7 online chat in the true sense of the word. This forum is another problem, in a bid to make money from resellers we make people believe all that is needed to be a webhost it to get a 500 Naira/Month reseller account and keep creating accounts from it for people. Infact that's so big a deception that I don't know how to start hitting it down. Now the customers. . . we hardly know what we pay for. We don't know what a service level agreement is, we do not know what an uptime guarantee is. Take for instance your customers saying they cannot afford to be down for even 5 hours. Lets assume you are on a host who has on its site (as usual) "99% uptime guaranteed" 99% uptime means that you are guaranteed your site will be online for 365 days in a year less 87 hours and 36 minutes. Therefore if I offer you a hosting package with 99% uptime, within a period of one year from the start of your contract I am in my right to pull the plug on your site for 87 hours and 36 minutes. . . take me to any court and you will waste money because you will pay me for time wasting. . . when I should be at working pulling other plugs you are wasting my time in court for what I rightly mine. . . ![]() So those you customers saying they can't afford to be off for 5 hours. . . kindly tell them that they have already signed that they can be off for 87 hours per year, assuming you are running the site on a host with 99% uptime guarantee. See the list below for the other uptimes and how long they can be down (in their right) per year. 90% 876 hours 95% 438 hours 99% 87 hours, 36 minutes 99.9% 8 hours, 45 minutes, 36 seconds 99.99% 52 minutes, 33.6 seconds 99.999% 5 minutes, 15.36 seconds 99.9999% 31.68 seconds Again. . . customers do not know what constitutes an uptime. Read your host's Terms of Service very well to know what is covered in their uptime guarantee. |

Its like you wanting to sell your car at your own price then buyer wants to buy it and says you should get a mechanic to check the car to evaluate it. Its not a rule. |
I have used this method on a couple of sites I created last year: top12game.com onsoro.com The idea is to have single index page and have php include necessary files based on the GET variable in the url So if you have a set of navigation buttons <ul> <li><a href = "?action=home">Home</a></li> <li><a href = "?action=about">About</a></li> </ul> in the content area of your index page you have to use a discision construct to get the GET variable and know what page to include. . . I prefer if/elseif/else <div> <?php if($_GET['action']=="home" {include("pages/home.php" ;} //if home is clicked include the home.php in pages directoryelseif($_GET['action']=="about" {include("pages/about.php" ;} //if about is clicked include the about.php in pages directoryelse{include("pages/home.php" ;} // if nothing or something wrong is tried to be injected, goto homepage?> </div> This is used in other situations on the site, not just the navs. The form actions too. |

Really, no comments. |
LoL ok then. |
rufaai:That's rather very sharp. I have toggled between both sites like 5 times now and its hard to see a similarity in layout and images. Only similar images I see is the twitter and facebook image which can be image.google'd, i suppose. Can you explain further, this allegation? |
Danyl:This is rather disappointing. |
Thanks guys. ![]() |
One of the many routes blocked and its news. And you really really think that blockage couldn't have been staged or used as a diversion? Just 1 truckload? We are more capable than that. |
Statistics. P.S: My sincere thanks to PHCN or whoever it is that's still giving me 15-20 hours of electricity daily. ![]() |
HTTPHP:Freelancer has a tool you can use to monitor people. I have a fulltime job as a php developer from freelancer and I work 5am-2pm daily. I don't use the tool but I send daily reports to the employer. Its possible for you to get other people like that there. Monthly salary for that kind of job there is minimum of 1,500 usd and max of 3,000 usd per month. (9 hours a day, 6 days a week). Why I recommend freelancer.com is because serious developers there do not play with their employer reviews so the try as much as possible to deliver. Also, there is the escrow system so if a developer doesn't work well you don't pay. I don't think you'll get anyone from here that is good and has time for this (most people who say they are developers are content with the average Nigerian employer request which is to build a 5-page site or a CMS company brochure site. . . or a bulk sms site or a wedding site. No avenue to learn anything new and this is annoyingly pathetic). If you insist on getting a Nigerian, try the Nairaland user Ogzille (bestvalueproviders.com). He's good and I haven't seen him run away from any project. Try *dhtml also. He is the best coder I have seen here but he doesnt even have all the time time for his bandwidth sapping .net and your site may end up shouting "Caramba! Login Invalido Senorita". |
Post your projects on freelancer.com and screen the bidders well before choosing the right person for the job. Knock off the duration thing as this isn't a build and go project. The different applications you want to come up with require a fulltime employment. |
