Doncigallo, if your (blocked) reply was meant for just me you can rest assured that I have seen it and like yawa just said. . .to each, their own. In my opinion you are not a professional. . . and you really don't have to be bothered. . . its not a general opinion, its just mine. For the benefit of anyone. . . I have no problems with the usage of jQuery or JS. Professionals have however known not to rely on javascript for functional areas of a site. . they have known to write JS scripts that will gracefully degrade when their is no JS . . . they have known to add something like this (at the very least): <script> $(function(){$('#no_js').hide();}); </script> <p style = "color:red" id="no_js">This site works best on a Javascript enabled browser and is best viewed on so so so browser </p> I don't need to explain what the code I have written does. If you cant tell what it is, I can't help you. |
Even those that do it for fun should follow standards na? At least i believe so.
Those that do it just for fun are under no obligation to follow standards, there's nothing at stake. . . all they want is a happy ignorant customer. Professionals do it for fun but not just for fun. There's everything at stake, your 4-hour daily sleep with a clean conscience knowing you didn't just rip your ignorant client off with some woosh effects at the expense of standards. Your re-hire rate, which is always high if you keep doing a good job. . .many other things at stake. See this scenario: trident.com.ng Dangote's secretary sees the site on her laptop with cool jquery effects and tells her boss who is on the move about it and how they could do a million dollar business with Trident. Dangote now wants to check it up on his. . . Galaxy tab (relax, I use a Galaxy tab so Dangote should be able to afford it )Oh well it just so happens that Dangote is pissed because he can't access the full site because the navigational menus are all in javascript which is at the mercy of the browsers . . . and his browser (Javascript enabled) has just decided not to respond to any fadeOut(), fadeIn(), show() functions. As far as I know I couldnt access the site's menus on the latest opera browser for android on my galaxy. Worse still if Dangote is using a mobile browser with no JS support. So you are telling me Dangote will want to put his one Naira in the hands of a company who's first impression. . . has been tarnished by a "dis-functional" site? Oh well Trident has lost Dangote's millions, oh well Trident does not know and trident is happy they have a "cool" site. Now that's fun. . . just fun. remoranger: shilling:Whois: unotechmedia.com Registrar of Record: In2net Network Inc. Record last updated on 16-Jul-2011. Record expires on 28-Feb-2012.
NOTE THAT THE BEST PRICE IS WHAT WE'RE AFTER! SEND QUOTATION TO royaldecisionltd@yahoo.com
And by this you mean the cheapest price, which is wrong. Please go after the best proposal you receive. The best proposal may not be the cheapest but it is worth it for your business. . . you are not running a non-profit organization so be ready to invest in your online presence. Its not very hard to know the best proposal, look at the official website of the person giving the proposal and you should have an idea of what your own site will look like in the end. If their site looks like a joke then yours wont look any more than a joke. |
doncigalo:You welcome brother. There are professionals and there are those who do this just for the fun. For the latter, they have no regard for best practices. We will all get to our destinations in the end. God be with us. In God we trust, in code we live. ![]() |
Let another ignorant person open "Nigerian clients suck, show off your highest paid project". ![]() cyclops4real:Use your head, I provide tech support on both hardware and software platforms and there is hardly ever any NEW problem on the internet, if only everyone could just get off their lazy behinds and Google. When you have a problem, Google should instinctively come up as your first option. . . not a forum. Madam Shilling, I don't really know what to say to you. You don throw the bomb on our territory and have sought exile in the land of the ignorant ones so there is no how I can retaliate in kind without ending up in a criminal court. Once you are extradited from that ignorance island, kai I will chop you raw ![]() doncigalo:Very good and functional site (when Javascript is enabled). See the link below for more info on unobtrusive javascript coding. http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/separating_behavior.html We shouldn't bite all the jQuery candy ![]() Please no more "show offs". It doesn't work for us in this place, in my experience. ![]() |
Info Tech? Uniport? First class?. . . Fortran? Brother please. ![]() Shay MI said it, computer science students graduating without seeing a computer. How could you possibly put a value on your uniport computer science (IT) degree? Uniport students you have a right to be silent, I have seen your dirty codes. |
I strongly doubt the budget is even right seeing as the requirements were changed along the way. The topup method is what reloadng.com uses. There has to be a VTU API that MTN is hiding from the public so you will need to contact MTN for this. This will never work without an API initiating a VTU action. When you have an API, its piece of cake. Psuedocode: Get phone number; Get amount to credit phone number, initialise payment gateway if (payment is successful) call the vtu api to credit phone number with stated amount else, throw an exception. |
chimuchi.com 1. Its available 2. Its unique 3. 8 characters 4. Easy to remember chi-mu-chi A domain is only as powerful as what it's used for. What in the world is the meaning of "Google" or "Yahoo"? My 2 naira ![]() . . . and no I am not crazy. |
Create for yourself a work schedule. A rough sketch of my schedule is 3am - 7am: Work 8am-1pm: Work 10pm to 12am: Study The other free time slots not in the schedule can be used for anything, including more work or more study. . . I don't follow it rigidly but it works. You need that sleep. When you don't sleep you end up being busier and less productive. Its one thing to be busy its another thing to be productive. Some non-coffee tips to stay awake at night: 1. Bright LCD light on your display 2. Music (I use soft rock) 3. Dont be conscious of the time 4. Don't anticipate your sleep |
Nice, please add some (female) voice in your future vid tuts. What app did you use for the screen recording? |
That's like saying every electrician should know about block laying and plastering and should be ready to do those jobs just because. . . electrical wires run through the building so the electrician cannot work without the building. There is a fine line separating web development from web design and you as an employer should know this before you start hiring anyone. This is why we hardly have true professionals in these fields when clients will want one person to be a master of all. And we complain when the jobs done are below expectation. Please correct this mindset of yours, I also recommend reading the employer articles on freelancer.com. In my experience I get the best clients from there because the job descriptions are neatly spelled out. Bottomline: (non actionscript) flash and graphics do not fall under a must-know for a web developer they are a plus. They are not a key requirement for every good developer. P.S: I am not saying all of this because I want you to change your terms cuz I may be interested in your offer but can't do flash. . . I am a core web developer (php & mysql) with expert handling of web design techs (xhtml, css, js, xml). I am not interested in your offer, I am only stating something which may be of benefit to anyone out there including you. |
Hire the right people for the job. Hiring a web developer who must be knowledgeable in flash and graphics is like hiring an electrician who must be knowledgeable in masonry. Would you let a professional electrician mould the blocks for your building just because he has a good knowledge of it? |

Anything having to do with earning/making money on a .tk domain should not be taken serious in my opinion. |
I'm looking for the best Nigeria to UK call rates from any of our Network provider. The best doesn't have to be the cheapest but if its the cheapest. . . all join. |

Good initiative. Implementation is a waste of time. Build things in a bid to extend its present state of development not in a bid to replicate things. This end product (as it were) should be the output of a development phase in a bigger project. . . That BS of the car doing over 100 Km/H with that set up (no recharging on-the-go) I see in the pic is just what it is. . . BS. Is someone confusing the size of batteries to be directly proportional to their output? Big battery, big power ![]() |
There's nothing I can't do in my home; home = Notepad++ and Firefox (Addons: Firebug, WebDev Toolbar) Anything else is just candy. Candy is for kids ![]() Chill, this is just my wicked opinion. |
