It's about us as a people. Customs is peopled by "NIGERIANS" |
@skyblue, I agree with you. We are either engaged in corruption or always celebrating corrupt people and we blame everyone else for our problems. Nigerians are patriotic but it's not moving the nation forward because they are not doing the right things to move Nigeria forward |
faoni572:The Government is made up of Nigerians and you have just said that Nigerians are hardworking - make your own deductions. Almost every new politician that has come into the fore has been corrupt. Does that not tell you something about us? Let's look at yourselves before pointing |
@kobojunkie, I am disappointed in you for that response. Which Nigerians is willing to make tangible and meaningful; sacrifices to see things move forward? Going through hardships as a result of the state of the economy is NO SACRIFICE. That's a situation which they cant do anything about. We need to move beyond that point and start to make changes to our ways which make us the way we are. Can you tell me the man in an office demanding bribes before fetching files is making any contribution to the growth of the Nation? Now, you tell me how many Nigerians are willing to do what they should do honestly without seeking gratification. Enduring hardship and making sacrifices are not the same |
No one has the right to determine what is out of date for any other group of people. Does the media ever condemn all the porn stars? What about we start saying also that sodomy is absolutely wrong. If a people decide to do something, why should some westernised people think they know everything and condemn such people. This is the kind of mentality that drove America into Iraq (the mentality of thinking that they know all things and everyone has to agree with whatever they allude to) |
bigboyslim:Think about any great country and find out if their forefathers never had to endure hardness before briniging them to their greatness. The problem is that NONE of us is willing to endure hardship in order for the country to get ahead. no one is willing to sacrifice to see the country move forward. I dont get it. . . No one wants to sacrifice but everyone wants to enjoy. No one wants to sow any seed but everyone wants to reap plentifully: no wonder we are mostly very corrupt and fraudulent |
If the man has committed an offence, he should be subjected to the law. If you joke about 9/11 in America, you can end up in prison. So why should Nigeria not be able to have her own legal ways |
That's a very annoying video and makes me feel like just confronting all those idiotic shell officials physically. How does anyone feel happy decimating the lives of other people and then shirk responsibility by claiming that it is because of corruption with the Nigerian Government? |
This is my problem with all these over-westernised people. @luca, thanks bro When westerners do anything and they call them different names, we are always ready to accept but if it comes from other cultures (esp Africa) they come up with arms. |
faoni572:Great!!! If there is no Nigeria, you wont be doing that business where you are currently doing it ![]() So tell me who made the country what it is. . . is it not you and I? Is it not our collective fault when we always look to bribe our ways through everything? Is it not our collective fault when we are always looking to cut corners? Is it not our collective fault that everytime anyone is chosen from among us, he/she turns out to be an embezzler? Is it not our collective fault that we have unwiitingly encouraged the things which have now conspired to bring us to such a sorry state? Is it not our collective fault that many Nigerians think it is alright to make money ANYHOW/ANYWAY? Is it not our collective fault that nothing works because we are never able to stand up for what is right? Is it not our collective fault that we are always quick to call the name of God but never willing to apply the principles of God in our daily lives? Is it not our collective fault that Nigeria is derided all over the world as we also help to trample her underfoot? Every great nation was built by PEOPLE. Nigeria is only the name given to a collection of people including you and I so if we say Nigeria is useless, we are actually talking about how useless we are as a people |
The guy is not spineless. The foreign woman (and indeed any woman) can divorce you but you are connected to your family as long as you live. @SimiBrasil, you have to have a very irresponsible disposition if you want to bring a child into this world knowing fully well that the man responsible does not want you. This is the reason there are so many single mothers bringing up wild children all over the place and then blaming absent fathers. |
It is not a sin to be patriotic neither does it take anything away from anyone to be patriotic. Each to their own. However, those who are saying that Nigeria does not protect them and that Nigeria does not have electricity whereas America has such etc etc need to think well. Who makes things happen in America? Who ensures that merican citizens around the world are well protected and regarded? When we start realising that we are contributing to our own problems in various ways, we'll stop pointing at expectations from everyone else. What exactly have we contributed to the entity called Nigeria that we expect so much from? Americans generally love their country and try to do things not to damage their Nation. Same cannot be said of the generality of the Nigerian population yet we are expecting the same Nation to give us everything and to provide manna for us. If you dont love Nigeria, it's your prerogative but for you to start condemning Nigeria for not providing for you when you have contributed nothing to the nation is tantamount to expecting manna from heaven. |
@BigB, goodnight. That quote was yours FYI: "Autism" has very little to do with being smart and has a lot to do with one's state of mind. |
@I feel your pain. No be small thing The thing is that, as Nigerians, we have our own ways. If it was my son, i'd feel the same way (more especially as you even have a son from elsewhere). Nigerians tend to take marriage more seriously than westerners and that's why some of the things Nigerians do may seem weird and unreasonable to Westerners. I doubt if there are many Nigerian parents who would not feel the way your bf's parents feel about dating you. You are older, you are white and you have a son. Nigerian parents generally dont consider whether a woman has a job and can support herself when it comes to marriage so you can stop saying that about yourself. It's not a really a great selling point from their point of view. I'm sure you're a very good girl and you'll definitely find someone else to love you. Best of luck |
Siena:Exactly what I am trying to get out is the fact that the thread reads as if Nigerians are the ones with the problem of never wanting to do the right things. There are many factors that militate against such and I am sure many of those contributing on this forum have either contributed to the reason why things are like that ot are beneficiaries of actions that made us become like that. If there are no proper amenities, and prohibitors etc in place in many other countries, they'll be just as bad |
idhigbe:Who's that Mbama guy/girl? |
Good points Siena But you need to consider tha population and be realistic about the living standards of the people you are talking about. how many of those who ease themselves in public even have homes? Let's put everything into proper perspective. There's trash all over London's Streets as well as many other big cities in Britain but they get cleaned up because the local governments are alive to their responsibilities |
gentysho:This is exactly my point. We have a penchant for believing we are the worst people on earth. We believe that every evil has a Nigerian face. I never saw as much Street urination in my life till I re-located to Britain! It just puts me off when people ascribe all evil to Nigeria and Nigerians, and not to humanity in general |
Big B1:Smartness is nothing but a state of the mind. I may not be as smart as another man because his mind is more agile than mine. I have also come across people who have such conditions and they were not referred to as being autistic but they found their own levels in life. Everyone is not the same and cannot be the same. Differences are not necessarily supposed to always be seen as something to medically diagnose and make mountains out of molehills. Sorry if I sound brash. I dont want to sound mean but that's my opinion. I could claim to have a medical condition because some of my peers did things I could not do. I could claim to have a medical condition because I am not as gifted as JayJay Okocha. |
@ BigB , I am one of those who dont believe in the hype around autism. If a child is not very smart, it's alright for them to be involved in other things. I never heard of autism till I left Nigeria. each child knew where they belonged and there is no pampering or papering over obvious natural difficulties. Dont get me wrong: I am not in support of anyone putting anyone down for natural things. We just need to rise above certain things and not think that everyone has to reason like us. most people in nigeria will take the concept of autism differently from the way they are taken here. |
@Seun, good talk. Who said we should not throw things around when there are no bins? Any human being will do it. You need to come and see what my work place looks like and it's all oyinbo people. . . only me be dudu. You should come and witness where oyinbo people piss at night. The pish on the Streets, in front of offices and just anywhere at all |
The writer of that article has not bothered to find out the facts. It was not financial but purely personal. The guy felt he was not loved by Real because they wanted to trade him for Ronaldo. He said he'd rather go where he is valued and he just wanted away from Real. he could even have signed for Iwuanyanwu Nationale at that point ![]() |
I think Gunners here need to lay off Eboue. Eboue is a class player on his day but he tends to over-do certain things and he gets into trouble but he has a lot of ability. Why else do you think he is in the team? The reason he seems to be getting a lot of stick is because he appeared to be the one in the way of Theo getting consistent games and the English media took it upon themselves to castigate him for every foot he puts wrong. Please watch the football and make your own judgements. Also, it's nice to compare his performance with other players and see if other players get as much criticism |
just trying to be truthful bro lol I know many of them dont like the truth that hurts |
bilymuse:@billy, no offence intended but please tell your colleague to go and hang himself. What does he think he is asking for an apology for something that an unknown person posts on an internet forum, probably even having a laugh about his posts. I bet your colleague is a white European - they the ones who are usually hung up on such things. |
@poster, I think you're over-reacting. you're right about him not answering the initial question and the lady had to lead him into the next question but from then on, it was a very good interview and I actually think he did himself and Nigeria proud. |
Bamiprof:Were you in Omoleye when we used to come and teahc them sports? |
Nigerians! Go to www.facebook.com and register.all you have to do is use their friend finder-type in the persons name and search. Facebook has over 300,000 registered Nigerians. Why waste time here. Seun i guess you'll find your Wale Olaleye within minutes of joining. Why should Nigerians go to face book? Why cant we encourage what our own people are setting up so that they can become better? |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIPcJoceQfg&feature=related Louise Farrakhan really speaks here about Nigeria. Though i think his main thing is a condemnation of America rather than just a defence of Nigeria |
~Lady~:As much as I do believe that we need to be christ-like, this can only come as we are transformed by constantly gazing into the word of God. 2 Cor 3: 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. However, if we want to do everything exactly like Christ did, it's impossible because we are not Christs; we are His representatives! Perhaps you will tell us to also go into any church where we find anyone using the church for business and flog them to get out of the church buildings No point in going into every other thing Jesus did but my point is that we are not Jesus! Are we without sin? We cannot be exactly like Jesus as long as we remain in the flesh. Jesus was God manifest in human flesh!!! John 1: 1- 14 |
uchkochi:There is absolutely no biblical injuction with regards to fasting. I am assuming that the above is just a mistake with regards to the use of language. Fasting is very good for us to consecrate and concentrate our minds and beings on the Lord but it is not made compulsory in the Bible |
@bobokanis, do you know pastor sola yinka? |

No point in going into every other thing Jesus did but my point is that we are not Jesus! Are we without sin? We cannot be exactly like Jesus as long as we remain in the flesh.
