Religion / Re: Is Mountain Of Fire And Miracles (mfm) Out To Destroy Families? by dudubobo1: 8:37am On Mar 10, 2010
aideewhite:

@poster: This has got nothing to do with any church or denomination. She might as well have gone to a soothsayer without your consent for all you know. Go and put your house in order, period! Stop the whining.

Perhaps I expected too much in expecting a decent level of intelligence to be displayed in posts here.

I did not ask you for advice and I am not whining but making an observation about the church. If you dont read to understand, you can ask questions before making disparaging remarks. I did not ask you before I married my wife and I am definitely not going to ask you how to handle my family affairs.

she might have gone anywhere but she has gone to MFM just as my cousin's wife did in the past and my friends have said same about the church. Is it too much to ask about the church or to make a comment if I feel that I have noticed a trend?

RESCUER:

I think u are thinking wrongly about MFM and it seems u re acting on what u ve been foretold about MFM.
Beside do u know the advise the Pastor might av lend your wife as touching the issue?
Better still don't close your eys to the set of the HEARER OF THE WORD AND NEVER THE DOER. sad

I am not sure what the pastor may have said to my wife but she doesn't seem to have been discouraged by the pastor, presumably on account of increased membership?
Religion / Re: Is Mountain Of Fire And Miracles (mfm) Out To Destroy Families? by dudubobo1: 1:09pm On Mar 09, 2010
My point is not about the pastor or whoever. I am thinking in terms of the principle or motivation behind the church. I am unable to fathom why a pastor will be happy for any woman to attend his church and leave her family to attend another church. Does that seem to be in line with biblical injunctions? It is beacuse it seems to be a recurring pattern that I am making the link with the church as a whole.

Or perhaps, I am beginning to see some things differently because I am now personally affected and I understand what it means?
Religion / Is Mountain Of Fire And Miracles (mfm) Out To Destroy Families? by dudubobo1: 8:49am On Mar 08, 2010
My friends have told me in the past about Mountain of Fire as a church which doesn't care about families, and will do anything including breaking up families to get some memebers to their church. My ousin told me how he had to embarrass one of their congregations in Ikorodu by going there during service to confront the pastor about his (my cousin's) wife attending the church without her husband and children. Dont these pastors care about what is happening to families as long as they can get an extra member coming to contribute to the purse and swelling their membership numbers?

I have had a disagreement with my wife for some days now. She knows what she did wrong and an elder has already told her but rather than apologize, she has started attending Mountain of Fire. I am amazed that the pastor there who knows me quite well does not deem it fit to ask her about her family and why she should be worshipping without her family. She would rather get home and pray and sing all the church choruses on earth.

I dont understand why MFM does not teach members how to live life rather than telling them that everything is about prayers. If something goes wrong, they dont acknowledge their part in it. They prefer to just pray and fast instead of making corrections where corrections are required. I look at most of them and there are too many of them who appear not to understand what they are doing. The bible says that "My people perish for a lack of THE knowledge".

My intention is not to castigate the church but it really baffles me that I have heard it from a few people and it is happening to me as well. If it was my old self, I would already have found myself a younger girl on the side. Is this what the so-called church wants to encourage?

Romans 8
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Religion / Re: Are You Happy You Were Raised In Deeper Life? by dudubobo1: 2:34pm On Oct 08, 2008
It's very easy for us to sit and point out whatever we think we dont like about Deeper Life, or indeed any other church. However, nothing human has any perfection to it and we'll always have flaws.

I like Deeper Life though I have never been a member but I respect their discipline and the fact that they tend not to veer into worldly issues. There are very few churches where you are not likely to find man's blatant addition to God's word. Deeper Life seems to stand out in this respect in Nigeria.

@ poster

You've been misinformed. Not all pastor's who've been with the church for over 7 years were told to leave. Those without degrees or diplomas were told to leave. My pastor has been with the church since 1994. I support the Bishops decision 100%

Since when did God's conditionality for being a pastor become a degree or diploma? Or is there any further reason why such ones had to be sacked?

Religion / Re: Falling Under Anointing - Hoax, Real Or Hypnosis? by dudubobo1: 3:58pm On Sep 29, 2008
I dont know where they got it from scripture that you touch anyone's head to make them fall. I have met and known a number of pastors in my life and I have never fallen under that supposed anointing.

there was an ocassion sometime around the early nineties when a pastor pushed my head down very forcefully because I had not fallen with the members of his church. I had to succmbed for fear of having a having neck. What i'd like to know is what the effect of falling is on those who claim to fall.

I saw a copy of this booklet and I felt there was a lot of personal advertising on it, even more than there are scriptures to build christians up.

Is there any scriptural basis for this "sowing in the word" type of collection?
Religion / Re: Church Franchising by dudubobo1: 3:50pm On Sep 29, 2008
Gamine, I think the way it was presented to you is wrong. The Redeemed vision cannot be about franchising. Maybe things seem to be so to some of us but it might not necessarily be that way.

What I believe is that they actually ordain their own pastors for the different parishes. The pastor may not necessarily be someone we regard as qualified to pastor a church but then, who are we to judge such things?
Religion / Re: Nairaland Christian E-Fellowship by dudubobo1: 3:44pm On Sep 29, 2008
Gamine, please tell your bishop to always corroborate his statements with scriptures

I read somewhere where someone asked what we would have to say about Jonah and the people of Nineveh. The people of Nineveh must consider Jonah a false prophet after his prophesy never came to pass.

I cant hold brief for Pastor Tunde Bakare but I know that I cant confidently say that he is not a prophet of God
Politics / Re: 21bn LNG Scam: FBI Storm Abuja by dudubobo1: 2:54pm On Sep 12, 2008
I have to agree with BigB and Afam.
Why should America try our criminals for us? Yes, we agree that our system is inadequate but why should America do our things for us? If they have any evidence, they should come out with it and submit to the Ministry of Justice to deal with such.

It's true about America protecting it's soldiers from proper trials with regards to the nonsense they have been doing in Iraq. If they protect their own soldiers, they have no moral justification for expecting any other nation not to protect it's own as well

There are publications that have been blessing people for years and they dont make so much noise about it but you are making so much noise about a publication that no one even knows what impact it will have. Religion / Re: What Pastors Won’t Tell You About Tithes by dudubobo1: 1:23pm On Sep 12, 2008
I attended a church recently (Free Church of Scotland), it's a pentecostal church but there was no preaching/praying about offerings and there was no time set aside for offerings. There was a box outside into which anyone could at anytime before, during or after the service put any offering if they felt giving offering/tithes.

I was very impressed with that system.

The sermon was about living for Christ and appreciating God's creation

I posted this before. However, no one is forced to give tithes so what's the problem. You either give because you feel the need to give or you dont give because you dont want to. What's the noise about tithes and offering about? You dont have to make it sound like anyone is being forced into doing it

No one has attained perfection yet on earth. We are all constantly reneweing our minds (or we should be) so encourage the guy to keep his focus of Christ and eventually, he'll drop the habit.
It's a different case if he doesn't believe he's doing something wrong

Ghana has adopted a South African model of economic growth. The will be better than Nigeria in the near future. We saw a during the African Cup of Nation when Ghana built nice infrastructure. The difference is that Ghanaians don't just open their big mouths, they work.

http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/survey/so/2008/CAR021408A.htm

Nigerians used to say that South Africa is only successful because of whites. For the record, we're colonizing them with black owned companies like MTN. The very same 2010 world cup that they want to play in will be organised by blacks. The stadiums ar constructed by 80% black owned companies.

They're going to be playing in black constructed world class stadiums that are even better than some in the West. The thing is black South Africans are hardworking people, we don't just talk.

If South Africa is bad why do we have over 5 MILLION black african immigrants (Nigerians, Zimbabweans, Angolans, Malawians, Kenyan etc) Why don't we have South Africans wanting to go to Nigeria.

Its time you start working and stop running your big mouths in forums around the world. If you really know how the world think about you, you would really learn to shut up.

If South Africa is bad then why do we have British people coming to stay here. see the link below
