Don't think its cheating, just a wrong call IMO, but I'm happy the lads are showing some spirit. I still can't understand the Song substitution, maybe he freaked out in the dressing room or something.

True Rasputin, and I did advocate playin Vela instead of Dudu. We should have gone for pace upfront and damn the consequences. 2nd half bring in Vela and possibly Walcott at some point.

Team list is out

Gallas plays and Eduardo and Sagna come back into the squad. I have confidence in this team.

Maybe we should buy this Rodallega boy in January, I'm sure Wigan will accept between 6m to 10m for him, he always impresses me when he plays. He is definitely the new Baby faced assassin in the PL. He will fit into our style of play very well with his movement, is quite tenacious (I recall him giving Vidic and Terry torrid times and Vidic had to elbow him at a stage), nice ball player and of course the right age too at 24.

His marriage with Arsenal now is one of convenience, I'm not sure he can find a way back into the team because I would personally rate him ahead of Tweety but he seems to have either annoyed Arsene with his rubbish talk when he was on loan at AC Milan or angling for a move away from the emirates on his own.

What a horrible news to start the day, WTF!!! Djorou 6-8 mnths, Gibbs 3 mnths, RVP4-5 mnths, why oh why does this rubbish always have to happen to us? news coming in so close to a derby too. At Arsenal, we don't moan but get going. Now is the time for Vela and Bendtner when he is back from injury to show what they are capable of and maybe Theo finally gets that chance he craves to play a central role.  Sanchez Watt might also have to grow up very quickly.

@Slim
You are very right, Arsene's hand might be forced by all these injuries.

I agree I've been partially proved wrong as Chelsea is not going down as quickly as I expected, maybe Ancelloti has perfected the art of winning with old men in Milan.  grin but we shall see on Sunday how far this Arsenal team has come.

slimshay:
Re: walcott, truthfully he's quite the incosistent chap. But i will cut him te same cslack i have cut Diaby. Both are medical room veterans at such young ages. walcott has got the pace and the ability to go past defenders. what he lacks is decision making, and with arsenal game being played at such a fast pace he gets shown up for it. And whats the dealie with running into defenders son? and the boy needs to get off that i want to play central thing, cant he see he's being trained for just that along with Bendtner. Only arsene can say when he's good enough for it. Henry started from the wings, thats why he's was the type of goal scorer.  The trade mark curve to the far post coming in from the sides, anyone?
There seems to be a lot going on about this in the background and methinks it has something to do with Arsene's annoyance in a recent interview about Theo getting into the world cup squad. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some in the English establishment whispering into the boy's ears about a central role and being a first team member. I think he has his head screwed on right though but the truth remains that we should have been seeing some improvement now and frankly speaking, the basic flaws in Theo's game are as glaring as when he first arrived.

I see Dudu post that his mate says Gallas will play because Arsene wants to keep Chelsea guessing. .
You and your mates are confused about who's doing the guessing. .

We are going to play two upfront . . and we are going to play the diamond. . . Shikena
Why do we have to guess if Gallas plays or not?

Whoever you got we will score. .

Also this match is going to be won by the team that can defend better. Shikena.

Last thing . . When Chac starts to support Arsenal . . Me thinks that's not very good luck. grin grin
Ever heard of attack being the best form of defence? grin every Arsenal fan knows Chelsea has got a good team albeit one on a downward curve due to age, the question that will be answered on Sunday is if the upward curve of our players development has finally got them to level above a very good chelsea team.

A quote from Wenger about Theo
The Frenchman has also highlighted some areas Walcott needs to work on if he is to become a leading striker.

"What he needs to work on to play in this kind of position is [having his] back to goal.

"At the moment, his strengths are more central to the counter-attacking role than the distribution role. That's what he has to add to his game."
I have some sympathy for Theo but the tough get going when the going gets tough. He is so stuck with the English central striker mentality he seems either totally unwilling or unable to learn the combination play Arsene has stuck him on the wings to learn.
Am I the only one who feels this Theo experiment might not work out?
Walcott will NEVER be given that position against Chelsea.Wetin concern Wenger and Capello.I expect either of Dudu and Vela to start and any of them can do the job if supplied with good passes.
I have already started giving up on Theo to be honest, with all the playing time he's gotten on the flanks he should have become better than this. Some of my friends think Arsene should share the playing time he gets between Merida and Wilshere (who is definitely the dog's bollocks). Such pace but no footballing brain, he is still just 20 though and I do recall Lennon being inconsistent in the past also.
I don't know what to make of the scores or the outcome as i am apprehensive about which Arsenal team will turn up.The one that played Man U off the park at OT and was only unlucky to lose,OR the one that played the last EPL match cluelessly.Fingers crossed.
It sure is a tricky one but this team grows daily and I wouldn't bet against them.

You are very right Ibime and the reasons should be very obvious, we are just coming off a transition period while your boys have been there done that. This match is a continuation of the battle between our emerging youth and your retiring pensioners that started in the Carling Cup final of 2007, so far you've had the upper hand and this our team still has a lot to prove but most of us believe in these boys and its up to them to show that they've finally come of age.

@A-40

what yu're advocating is exactly what has made us come unstuck in the past, i.e a reactive changing of our usual playing pattern. This team knows how to do one thing very well and that is to attack so I don't believe a change in pattern is as necessary as being tactically disciplined. The FA cup semi final template is what I believe they'll use becos everyone sorts of respects/fears us now so they'll just start at a slow pace and then proceed to wear us down with a very physical game. It is up to the lads to show that they've grown since that match and to be focused enough to take their opportunities when they come.
I think the Chelsea team is suspect to pacy forwards as Theo seems to always score against them so I would recommend starting Vela, Nasri and Arshavin upfront, as Debosky said the MF and defence has already picked itself  so I say go for pace and let Vela run that defence ragged with his movement then bring on Eduardo for Vela if he fades out in the 2nd half and also possibly bring on Theo for pace at some point.

I also don't want to see Eboue in there as I just can't forget that picture of him allowing Malouda to go on and score during the FA cup semi final last season, this is a game that can turn on a single error so that defence has got to be water tight.

One of the reasons why I advocate going for pace upfront is also because we simply aren't potent aerially and have no big forwards, it is really some bad luck Bendtner, Diaby and RVP had to be out of this one when we could really have done with some physical presence.

The post wasn't my creation even though I largely agree with it, I think I referenced the site I got it from.

I agree with you however that Diaby not being in the team is not exactly a disaster as we have so many good players (even Cesc not being in the team isn't so much of a disaster nowadays as we have so many good players and that is a good thing) but Diaby is also undeserving of most if not all of the scorn and ridicle a lot of fans pour on him.
