Barca kids also lost last season to Shakhtar at Camp Nou but still won the UCL. . . . .This is the time to blood our kids and give em the needed European experience. I can remember United's Youth side serving Arsenal's kids their ass on a gold-plate some seasons ago.
What nonsense is emanating from you up dere? |
@Sauron Harry Harris of ESPN soccernet agrees with me. ![]() http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=703976&sec=uefachampionsleague&root=uefachampionsleague&cc=3888
United went down at home to a Turkish team that two years ago lost 8-0 to Liverpool. How times have changed. It was a time to give the young players more responsibility and I don't blame Sir Alex for that. However, if I was pressed, I would say there are far better young players at Arsenal, and that will hurt Sir Alex even more. The future looks bright for Arsene Wenger, even if he has to play so many of them in the important games, while Sir Alex can afford the luxury of blooding them when the time is right.
He still had to be condescending to Fergie though as I don't totally agree with the last part of Fergie blooding the young players when the time is right, except he goes and buys big in the January window as Messrs Giggs and Scholes are fast getting past it. while Messrs Berba and Nani are not justifying the expenditure on them. |
edoyad:No mind Dayo, if he needs a lesson on how a team living on old glory can be disgraced he need look no further than the 'Nazi' team that was disgraced by Davor Suker n co in 1998. ![]() |
United kids are the best in the land. . . . . Besiktas are ranked 56th, Standard Liege are not even in the top 80 teams in Europe. Trying to compare the kids of United to that of Arsenal on this basis makes you look highly desperate.
Do you actually study your data before quoting it? Do you realize that those rankings cover a 5 year period and that the scores for the 08/09 season shows Liege scoring 10.9 while Besiktas scored 3.4. In the current season which is ongoing and reflects such results as them beating yu at OT they are virtually running neck to neck at 7.9 to 8.2. I hope yu also recall that this Standard Liege side beat Olympiacos who is rated 37 by a 2-0 margin just 2 weeks ago. Besides, where Rubin Kazan dey for ranking before dem daze Barcelona wey dey number 1? yur 'excellent' youngsters couldn't even play for pride at OT, see as Besiktas come teach them soccer for dem own ground. You shld cover yur eyes in shame for referring to them as promising youngsters. I have thrown this challenge to yu and Fergie to field a team with an average age of 19 years in a cup competition against a Premier league side's first team as Arsenal did against Wigan last year, until yu answer that challenge don't refer to your boys as promising youngsters. |
So much for Sauron's noise about Manure's youngsters, a very interesting statistic reveals that the average age of the Manure squad that lost at home to Besiktas was 24 years while the average age of the Arsenal squad that won at home to Standard Liege was 24.45. both teams had 5 players each above 23 years old. I won't be surprised if Arsene plays a team with an average age below 23 years against Olympiacos. |
Sharon the shaman, wetin happen now? why Morrison no dey bench? una no even fit confirm top place finish of that roforofo group until the final match of the group. mscheww, the glory don depart from OT tay tay.Cristalz where yu dey? come explain this defeat abeg. ![]() |
@Muki Why that guy come be like Clifford Orji so? now wonder why dem break Gibbs metatarsal, if e no break this guy for chop am like biscuit bone. ![]() |
For those who still don't see the improvement in Diaby's game, an interesting article from Untold Arsenal.
Downtime retrospective: How good is Diaby? By Cape Gooner, with some additional material by Tony I was watching the Wolves game on Arsenal TV and was thinking how good a game Diaby was having before he went off. Is he doing a Denilson? Taking his chance and playing really well, only for the “fans” to pick on every misplaced pass. His goal against AZ was wonderful. He won the ball deep in our half, good pass, long run and then good control and shot. Then I saw this table at http://desigunner./. I cannot vouch for the accuracy, but if correct, the stats paint a picture of Diaby that is quite different from the one we normally hear. Basically his ability at making a successful tackle is the highest out of all the players who are analysed and his number of tackles lost is the lowest. In tackles won he is right up there near the top, and he has scored three goals. You can study all the details (and there are lots of them) on that site, but it looks from this analysis that like Denilson before him he is being criticised by people who seem to have an overall vision of a game without taking in much of the detailed interplay that goes on as opposition moves are broken down and our moves are built up. I know that many people say that you can prove anything with stats, and if that is your opinion then obviously this sort of article is not for you. But if you are interested in way in which the Denilson was maligned and came good this could be a good guide to the future. Of course it doesn’t resolve the problem of who plays when Denilson, Song, Diaby, Nasri, Ramsey and Cesc are all fit at once. Of course Ramsey is not yet ready to run the show so we can can’t him down for the moment, but for the rest – how would we fit them all in?
By the way, I went to the site he got those stats from and there was an analysis of the sunderland match which clearly shows that Eduardo had a stinker as he simply wasn't moving about enough. If Dudu aint careful, Vela might just upstage him. |

My heart was in my mouth there for a sec. Weeeewh, only a yellow for Cesc. |
Verminator, go and sin no more. ![]() |
edoyad:My bad, I was thinking he was his father, I didn't know that heading the ball can make one's hairline receed. ![]() |
Gibb's aggression is really making life difficult for Liege's right back, he has forced him into commiting errors on 2 occasions. |
Add Diaby to that too. . .Denilson keeps things simple and never hold to the ball longer than neccesary.Plus he closes space and do the hard things the simple way. BTW,wasn't he out for long, he doesn't look sloppy at all.
Ramsey is still quite young and quite subject to occasional concentration lapses, which is why Arsene says he still looks atimes like a youth player but we are still quite lucky to have him as he'll be some player. I think the missin link in the match against Sunderland was Eduardo and to a lesser extent Rosicky. From Arsene's comments after the match, it was obvious he was disappointed with some individual performances. |
I've been thinking about why this Liege defence is so open and I'm thinking it probably has to do with Vela and Arshavin pulling the defenders all over the place while Nasri is coming to the midfield to do the linking with Cesc whose radar seems off today. |
What a Brazilian special from Denilson ![]() |
abi Sauron don dey see the light say future no dey OT again? The glory don depart since the end of last season. ![]() |
Tunde Bakare has always been the most forthright pastor I knew of in Nigeria, he has his unsubstantiated delusions about religion but he is mostly a sincere individual who calls things as he sees them. |
@debosky I totally second you, initial reports I got from the game seemed to suggest a return to old habits (a-la- first part of last season holding possesion and not being penetrative) but when I watched the game on football first I was actually impressed, Sunderland just played the patience game better than us and had a stroke of luck. We were still the ones forcing the issue and created enough chances to actually put the game to bed which were not taken. For (what I would not call our first team to play that way 'away' to a much improved Sunderland) is quite encouraging. |
Cristalz:I knew yu wld be happy, we lost to the same sunderland that came to OT and would have beaten you if not for extra time in extra time and the trojan horse who wanted to help his brother. ![]() I am totally glad at the development of this team, it is a team that is still rapidly developing, by the end of yesterday's game we still had 4 players on the pitch under 21 years old(Vela, Traore, Walcott, Ramsey). Besides, we've not lost in 14 games my dear and everyone is dropping points this season so there is still all to play for. Yesterday's game was a difficult tie that came at a wrong time for us so don't read much into it. |
I have my reservations about this, in such high stake matches where the adrenaline levels are high, the player can actually reply that he doesn't know. I have played soccer in the past where everyone told me I handled the ball with my hand whereas I was totally convinced I didn't. I would have continued arguing if not becos my own mates told me I actually handled the ball. I think that it is too much to put the burden of officiating as well as playing on the players. The best solution is some form of video officiating, but how that will work will need to be experimented and hammered out. |
Dokunu, why Leverkusen dey help una develop Kroos now? abi dem don get option to buy am within the loan move? or is it not like Manure taking an Arsenal player on loan? |
Una really try o, see as Wigan fall una hand chei. Una useless players go come dey feel like stars. Anyway, congratulations maybe this will assuage the pain from that butt hammering yu got at the emirates. ![]() |
It was still more difficult than Denilson's pile-driver against Everton.
I don't agree becos the ball was moving horizontally with some speed and Denilson volleyed without any bounce whatsoever, you might think its easy because its on the ground but a lot of players would miskick that ball completely. Those goals from Scholes are at a different level however and that is one of the reasons why yu will struggle to replace him. |
Of course. . . . . .The ball being in the air makes it more difficult to score and besides. . . . .Fletcher had to arch back to hit the ball before scoring.
Wetin concern me with whether he contorted his body like a snake before hitting the ball? if he likes let him break his neck to score a goal. The ball had bounced taking all the pace out of it and setting it up nicely for him. Nice goal but yu are making too much out of it. |
U must have SPERMFLAKES where your brains should be. What is the comparison between Fletcher's goal last night to Denilson's. I am talking about the technique used not the distance. . . . . . Denilson got a lay-off, ball was on the ground and he struck. What is so special about that?? Should i also bring Ronaldo's goal against Porto as comparison? The only credible comparison anyone can bring is Zidane's goal against Leverkusen in the UCL final.
Yu still like to yarn rubbish, even if yu hide behind the pathetic excuse of the ball being in the air (even though it had already bounced), Stevie G still has more than one of those taken on the volley cleanly and yu can't deny it. abi Fletcher don become another Morrison? or is it the other way round? |
loyika:Yep, a lot of man luv going on there, I wonder who the drag queen is. |
sure is lonely being the only Nigerian Nazi. Munching will definitely get beaten today. |

Just watching the match again on Football first and here are my thots: 1. The closest match to this match we've had this season was away to Fulham and we actually played better than we did against Fulham yet we lost today and won against Fulham, we could have drawn this match but on the day Murphy's law decides to take yu on, everything that can go wrong will go on. 2. We still need to find that extra bit of tenacity and strength to become world beaters as all the other ingredients are already in there, I believe this will come with age and experience. 3. While Cesc continues to get all the plaudits and possibly rightly so, the most consistent player in Arsenal at present is Alex Song, he has become what Essien is to Chelsea and oh how we will miss him for the ANC, I sure hope Arsene has something in the offing to plug the gap. He can however still beome more of a threat for us in games such as this where the MF is crowded as he gets some space from his holding role when the opposition pack their midfield and stifle our more advanced 5 players, learning to shoot on target from the 30-20 yard range would be an effective weapon in his Arsenal (just like Carrick and Essien). 4. Our game thrives so much on team play and understanding between some individual players who are sort of becoming our first 11, the changes we made to our starting 11 today some forced and others deliberate( RVP, Arshavin, Diaby, Clichy) upset some of our usual fluency and the international break didn't help matters at all. I do hope we bounce back quickly against Liege in the UCL because we can't afford to go up against Chelsea while being low on confidence. |
Well done FLETCHER!!!!! U have just scored the GOAL of the SEASON. Not even Zidane coulda done that.
Yu don dey ejaculate again, can't count how many times Stevie G has done that and Denilson did the same against the same team. Good goal though. |
bandely:Even the worst players in the world get dem own day, scrappy goal from set piece situation is not an indication that a player has arrived. Credit to the guy though, at least he score am and we no score. |
