Well that's that. Kind of blown away but not too bad considering the senior team didn't fair too well in that territory too.

But wouldn't this game have been a good one to fine tune Eduardo's finishing.
Ed, what annoyed me most about the match was that the young lads actually were not responsible for the loss, the players culpable for most of the goals were the senior players.

Goal number 1: Rosicky, Eboue and Song in that order could have prevented that goal
Goal number 2: I couldn't understand for the life of me why Silvestre should have been backing off SWP when he had Armand Traore covering him in a 4 vs 2 situation, SWP didn't even have any one to pass to
Goal number 3 was simply a mix up between Wilshere and Song that makes you wonder if we actually practice defending in training.

Tell me where Spain was disgraced 4-0 in the tournament.

Germany played Spain, Germany played England. Which of these games ended 4-0?
You forget that same England team beat Spain 2-0 in the same tournament enroute to the finalhuh or is your memory that short that the only match you remember is the final?

Pray if England were so bad as you paint them, how come they got to contest the final against Germany undecided

As at June this year Germany held all the UEFA under aged tournament. They lost the title to Ukraine this year.

At the U21 where Germans pummelled England, Walcott, Micah richards and Agbonlahor played so which players were held back? Gerrard or Lampard?
Don't mix up issues, I never said players were held back at the UEFA U21s Germany had the best tournament team and rightly won but that is not enough reason to say England doesn't have talent cos that would imply spain also don't have and even you can't be dumb or crooked enough to say that or have I set my expectations of yu too high?

A Player yet to make his debut in the National team set up? We can also say Sani Emmanuel is in the Nigerian National team set up right now abi?
Yep, yu can say that if he makes his debut next week.  grin  because that means the national team selectors were already considering him. I hope yu are aware that the fact he made his debut in August doesn't mean he hasn't been on the bench in previous matches (do I really need to explain that  undecided). I am definite he made his debut for Portugal before ever wearing the Manure shirt competitively so couldn't have gotten into the Portuguese team due to anything he learnt in Manure which is what this whole discussion is all about (just in case yu've forgotten).

Germany won the UEFA U17, and U21 this year.

This year the Germans were the first country to hold all UEFA youth trophies at the same time and in the process pumelling England 4-0 both in the U17 and U21.

Germany played the FIFA U21 quarters 2 months ago, where was England? Struggling with Aberbaijan and Tahiti for the worst team of the tournament.

In FIFA U21 records England scored their first goal in 10 matches against Azerbaijan shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

So much for the talents
Dayo, where do yu get yur info from? Germany is not holding the UEFA Under 19 youth trophy are they?
and we all know why England performed badly at that tournament with all the clubs holding on to their best players, even Sauron should know that except if he's suddenly developed a very bad case of memory loss.

You mean Stuart Pearce is incompetent? You can help us by mentioning the talents worth mentioning in England.

Nigeria losing to Angola was due to NFA incompetence. or are you insinuating that the English FA is incompetent too.
Too many English talents to begin to mention, where was Germany in the Under 19 European competition earlier in the year where England came second? how are they faring at present in their group in the Under 21 qualification for 2011?

The English FA might not be incompetent but their coaching crews are stuck with the old style English soccer of long balls and Little man/Big man combinations upfront, yu should have seen them in the European U17s earlier in the year where Wilshere was picked out as one of the best players in the tournaments playing long balls when they had players of the quality of Wilshere and Bostock centrally.

He has improved a great deal and he is now streets ahead of Walcott(the player Wenger bought for £12 million).
If you put the fact that the same amount was paid for Cristiano Ronaldo, then you gotta admit Wenger is a failure with young talents.
You clearly forget that:

How odd that sounds with English and talent beside each other.
You mean the "talents" that were humiliated by Germany 4-0 both at U17 and U21 this year alone
Lennon , Walcott, Agbonlahor are talents maybe in sprint races
Dayo, the fact that the English FA coaching crews at the different age levels are clueless does not mean they don't have talent. It is akin to Nigeria losing the world cup place to Angola in the 2006 world cup despite having more talent at our disposal than the Angolans.

Not only you slim but myself and other millions of English men who know anything about football, he might be Arsenal's most significant contribution to the English football setup for the next 10 years. I personally feel Arsene shld give up on this Theo experiment and start fasttracking this boy, he's got all the tools to make it big.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 4:38pm On Dec 02, 2009
I've seen that Merida, Wilshere, Watt attacking trio and they look impressive in the reserves; add Vela and Ramsey (who should by now have watched that Sunderland match a thousand times  to remind himself of how not to play) into the mix and we have a very potent frontline that should do well in a cup game. I think Song and Tweety will bring up the rear with Eboue and Traore to give us a very solid backline platform to play. I would like to see this team start.

                Fabianski

Eboue - Song - Silvestre - Traore

Ramsey -  Coquelin - Merida

   Wilshere - Vela - Watt

but I think it is more likely Eastmond comes in for Coquelin, Gilbert comes in for Eboue and Rosicky comes in for Watt who I heard had a minor car crash earlier in the week but should still make the bench.

exactly what i thot when i saw the list. By the way thats from official website. On the other hand, bartley might just be put in there. The guy is good, but good enough for premiership opposition. Cant answer unitl after tonite.

Meanwhile how did Merida make the list, didnt he get sent off at the reserves game the other time? Thot those counted as well. perhaps we appealed cos i heard he wasnt the instigator in the incidence.
I hear there is one 15 or 20 day rule after which the red card kicks into effect.
Arsenal will be able to call upon Spanish playmaker Fran Merida for next week’s Carling Cup Quarter-final despite his red card for the reserves against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Merida was involved in an off-the-ball incident with Fabian Delph and recieved a straight red card for appearing to punch the former Leeds player. Red cards in reserve matches do indeed result in suspension for first-team matches, but Merida’s three match ban doesn’t start until December 9th, meaning he is available for selection against City but cannot be called upon for the matches against Liverpool, Burnley and Hull.
Senderos' absence is quite worrying cos I'm not aware of any injury. It might just be an ommision or we can come to the conclusion that he is no more in Arsene's plans and will be flogged off soon. I was always worried how Arsene could rate Silvestre ahead of Senderos.  undecided seems there have been some irreconcilable differences.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 6:51pm On Dec 01, 2009
Abeg, people should stop going overboard over this loss and see it for the blip it has been this season. This was the Manure team that was beaten by Liverpool 4-1 last season and people didn't come out writing all the rubbish about men and boys that they've been writing recently. This team didn't even have any major players out and were mauled at OT so what's all the noise about?

Edwin van der Sar (G)
15 Nemanja Vidic (CD-L)
5 Rio Ferdinand (CD-R)
3 Patrice Evra (LB)
22 John O'Shea (RB)
8 Anderson (CM-L)
16 Michael Carrick (CM-R)
13 Ji-Sung Park (LM)
7 Cristiano Ronaldo (RM)
32 Carlos Tevez (CF-L)
10 Wayne Rooney (CF-R)

I still believe in this Arsenal team and we shall see at the end of the season nuff said.

Back to more pressing issues, I'm looking forward to seeing the Carling cup team for tommorow, and seriously hope Wilshere can make it. I've given up on Theo becoming anything big so I'm rooting for Wilshere and Eastmond as our English contingent while also keeping an eye out for Coquelin whom I believe will make it.

Here is what Arsene has to say about our Carling cup match tomorrow.
"People expected Francis Coquelin or Emmanuel Frimpong to be ahead of Eastmond and I can understand because those two boys deserve a chance too, but Eastmond looked to be very intelligent in his positioning and passing.

"When he plays right-back, his intelligence strikes you, how well he reads the game, so when we decided to move him into midfield those qualities came out."

As for the side to face City, Wenger confirmed that he would once again give youth its chance to impress.
"It will be a team that has a chance to win," he affirmed.

"But as well, I want to give a fair chance to those [young] players who have waited for this game.

"I believe we have a good mixture of experienced players and young players, but we will play young players that is for sure.

"It will be a typical League Cup side. For example, you will see players like Craig Eastmond and Jack Wilshere.
Rating Defoe and Bent ahead of Eduardo is going too far IMO, but I would take Rodallega and Carlton Cole ahead of him on current performances and physical attributes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 4:56pm On Nov 30, 2009
Eduardo definitely isn't shit, he is just not a striker that can be relied upon in the premiership (this isn't La Liga). In the PL, you need either one of or a good combination of physicality and pace along with your technical ability to make it as a consistent striker. Drogba, Rooney, Torres, Henry, Shearer, Van Nistelrooy and Owen at his peak all had this. Even purely technical strikers like DB10 had good physical attributes to hold their own.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 4:44pm On Nov 30, 2009
@HNIC

Thank yu joo, we should look on to Stoke and I'm a bit worried becos that team has another very tight defence. even in the bad game we had against chelsea, there was still a performance worth applauding i.e Traore. a friend of mine has always advocated that we need to choose our teams atimes based on the opponent. whenever we play teams like Chelsea, we shouldn't even take guys like Clichy but all the tall guys since we know we will have short guys like Nasri, Cesc and Arshavin in the team.

When we beat chelsea last season, we had Adebayor, RVP and Djorou playing all 6ft and above. The lads actually gave it a fight yesterday but we were just so toothless upfront. Actually before the match, a friend and I were already advocating swapping Eduardo for Rodallega during the transfer window, Eduardo has not been a fighter since his return from injury and I'm not really sure if he was ever one but I recall Rodallega giving Vidic and Terry torrid times when he played against them despite not having a quality midfield like Arsenal does.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 4:28pm On Nov 30, 2009
A lot of arsenal fans are only being silly, yu don't see fans of other clubs going berserk after a loss the way we do. Yesterday's game is not season defining in any way, it was a game that came at a time confidence was low and we'd lost key players. It is also possible that we could have lost even with all players fit and ready, as most of the goals didn't even come from any Chelsea pressure per se. We beat Chelsea at the bridge last season and I believe this team can beat chelsea once again when they get it into their heads that they can. Until that happens however, they just have to pick themselves up and get their confidence back.

RVP, Bendtner and Diaby would have helped improve the physical structure of our team without sacrificing much of the technical quality but fate conspired to make all of them miss this tie, the shoe might be on the other foot when next we meet, right now its advantage Chelsea and everyone should get over it.
