Sturridge came in from Man City not Villa. . . You don't know much do you?
Ma binu, wires crossed writing in a bit of a hurry but the heart of the matter remains he wasn't a first teamer, not even a reliable squad player at 19 tells you something, he is quite some talent though with all due credits to the guy.

nateevs:
He's on loan at Blackburn . . . I bet you didn't know that as well. . . He's doing well and he'll be back in January.

He's a youngster . . . bright youngster better than Bendtner
I know he is on loan at the thugs of the north west, the fact remains how many has he scored for you? and better still how many for Blackburn? and can you repeat that latter part of your sentence again, cos yu must be dreamin or something by what real or imagined stats have yu come to that conclusion? Is Borinin an international for his country at 18? top scorer in a Championship club that gained promotion the premiership?

nateevs:
I know players have to be a Messi for you to know them. Unproven quantity yes. . . you don't know him yet you know your boyz are better. You are full of emptiness.
He doesn't have to be a messi, he could be a Ljajic, Brahimi, Townsend, O'hara, Cleverly, Bojan, Dos Santos, Hazard, Drinkwater e.t.c but wetin him don win for any level before? with his club? with his country at under age level? none of those I've listed are Arsenal under 18 players so don't let me even start that one with you.

nateevs:
Proven back-up for our back should something go wrong . . . . Ferreira/Belletti, Alex, Ivanovic, and Zhirkov (From RB to LB in that order). . You still don't know much.
The only one yu've added to the previous list is Ferreira and he aint doin too well this days. all the others have already been accounted for either by you or by me.

nateevs:
You don't get the point . . . Your reasoning is all clogged with opposition and hate. . . and that prevents straight forward thinking. The team I highlighted is not to win the prem but good enough to win the mediocre matches when the top players are away. And there are only 6 matches.
Mediocre matches you sure? So Wigan is now top 4 contender by your reasoning? abi no be so?

nateevs:
Mancienne is a young player that will make mistakes now. Just like John Terry once was. . . Chelsea was on the verge on selling him because he won't progress. . Look at him today. Bruma and Hutchinson and upcoming world class players. . .  I have not mentioned 11 players from our youth because not all of them are world class but these few I know.
And it seems this your newly found U-18 win is shacking you. I bet it's the first time you are following youth football. . because Arsenal have been nothing in youth football for a while now.
Making mistake with his mates at under 21 level, did you see how he cost the team in the Euro Under 21s? we are not talking about world cup here at all.
Yu think its the first time I'm following youth football is more like it. Arsenal have always been good at producing youth footballers from our academy. abi yu wan argue that one? but no one's even talkin of history, we are talking about here and now and the players you listed.
Bruma and Hutchinson upcoming world class players? what a laugh, have they represented their country at under age level?

nateevs:
I think you have just started watching the football. . .

John Terry,
Didier Drogba
Micheal Ballack are all captains of their respective sides. . . Who are you trying to impress. . ? Who is this guy sef?
Who is trying to impress you? I'm only showing you what yu're up against m'dear. Okay, so we are equal on that level abi? yu don happy now?

^^ Arsenal does not have a history. (No CL title ever)
Arsenal is not competitive right now. (No trophy whatsoever in the last 4 seasons)

So what gives?
Arsenal have a history in the CL even if its recent history, we also have European history in case you don't know having won the UEFA Winner's Cup. Our history in the premier and english leagues as well as the local cup competitions is something the Chelsea wannabes can only dream of.

We are competitive right now on all fronts, as our record in the UCL in recent times is only surpassed by a few clubs of which Bayern is not numbered among.

You can be content with being a big fish in a small pond of your bundesliga, but your team's stature in European affairs and your league's status contracts with each passing moment and at present you are simply a mini fish in a micro pond.

With only two of those players over 30. How did you come about increasing the overall age of the team. . ?
Surely you can't be serious with that team you put out there? all your subs apart from Malou are unproven at even league one level

Sturridge- left Villa cos he was far down the peckin order
Di Santo- need I say much? in his appearances for you what has he done?
Borini- where this one for come? what is his pedigree
Matic- another unknown quantity, if above 20 we for don hear of am if good enough and if under 20, our boys are definitely better

What of proven backups for your back 4? apart from Alex and Ivanovic who yu get again? don't even let me start on those subs you've got there, Mancienne of all people who is a liability for the England Under 21s. Where Bruma and hutchinson dey when we dey do double at Under 18 level?

When I referred to the average age of your team, I meant your first 11 or even 14 players not players who are not of premiership quality.

Stop living in delusion my brother, the signs are clearly there for all to see except happy go lucky chavs like yourself.  Consider the followin reasons why I'm bold to make such claims:

1. What will happen to you during the ANC? you lose Drogba, Kalou, Essien and  Mikel inadvertently increasing the avg age of the squad you have left. Methinks the burden will be too much for old men Deco and Ballack to carry (remember how you were gropin about in the dark when Essien was out due to injury last season?)

2.  The ever consistent Murphy's law that "Everything which can go wrong, is bound to not only go wrong but also at the worst possible time"

if yes . .i have so many sweet words i want to say to him
Go ahead and say it now Muki, though I doubt they are the kind of words he will want to hear. I might be arguing his case a bit too strongly but the bloke isn't at all bad and is the kind of player you sell and then lament later when his abilities become more potent with experience.

I also can't help having a feeling of disgust when people blatantly can't see the flaws in Cesc's game (even though he is still the first name on the team sheet IMO) and then blame every failure on other players. There are days when Cesc just doesn't seem up for it but his pack of followers will always find an excuse for him.

Diaby has everything you want in a box to box midfielder (power, pace and skill) and  Le Prof isn't such a fool as to purposely bench Arshavin for Diaby when playin against Chelsea if he didn't have a strong reason for doing so.

Even though we lost at Manure this year, but for the first time in a long while we went to their neck of the woods and totally bossed them on their own perch with who in midfield? (Diaby, Song and  Denilson) and I've noticed  in recent times Cesc is often rendered impotent at tough venues like Manure and liverfool when football thugs like Fletcher, Anderson, Lucas Leiva, Mascherano e.t.c are set on him like a pack of dogs and they keep on commiting niggly fouls that the ref will never penalise them for but who born them against Song and Diaby?

Whereas if it was a MF of Walcott, Denilson and Cesc they might have gotten away with such tactics.

debosky:
Kindly point out the exaggeration. Diaby was clearly detailed to mark Johnson as could be observed in the particular instance I mentioned. The reason that is pertinent is due to your claims that Diaby's size/physicality gets him in the side. If he fails at a basic duty such as tracking back and defending corners, the so called physicality is pointless.

Furthermore, you can read numerous accounts online of astute observers astonished and disgusted that a player of Diaby's size was DOMINATED in midfield by a smaller player on the wrong side of 30. . . so much for size and physicality!
Blatant lie, Diaby could never be detailed to mark Johnson on the basis of position or height. Diaby tries to do too much atimes becos he feels there is a need to prove himself and gets himself into trouble as happened with the Manure game where he was basically trying to stop the ball getting to Rooney who was behind him, Almunia did make the call but never came for the ball.
Can you just give 2 links of these your astute observers and what exactly they said? and did you just say that we were DOMINATED in midfield by Fulham? did you watch the game at all or you just listened to some half baked pundit's summary of the game?

debosky:
A direct midfielder who runs into a crowd by trying to dribble everyone and over-elaborating almost every time? I'm sure Lamps and Stevie would not be too flattered to hear you compare them to the bumbling Diaby.  grin

Again I ask, remove Cesc from this discussion - it only serves to obfuscate things. Regardless of how badly you might feel Cesc's first half was, his eminent ability (as shown in the second half) gives gunners the confidence to overlook a few below par performances. Diaby has NOT merited any such consideration. And if you think that performance was worse than any of Diaby's, you seriously need to get some past season DVDs OR stop deluding yourself.
Therein you show your bias, and why you can't judge a game objectively.  Cesc made 63 passes during the game of which 45 were successful and 17 unsuccessful (about 13 of these in the first half giving the ball away to an opponent, that is awful statistics for the playmaker of the team and we could well have lost the game within this period) Diaby during this same period made 28 passes of which only one was unsuccessful. Unsurprisingly, Cesc's pass success rate improved dramatically in the 2nd half. But if we had lost that game by a lone goal you muppets would have been calling for Diaby's head.
Can you also show me any game with Diaby having such shocking statistics?

debosky:
I disagree - what is the evidence of this 'vast improvement' you talk about? Tackles?  huh Do you want me to bring up Denilson's tackling rate and application to compare? Denilson by FAR exceeds Diaby, both in successful tackling and interceptions, yet he is still maligned as not being quite good enough. If that is the case, why should I consider this improvement as worthwhile?

As you so eloquently pointed out, Diaby's duties were primarily defensive, and though he made many tackles, he success rate was POOR. Missing out on 50% of your tackles is hardly anything to shout about.
Please go ahead and bring out the stats (you might learn a lot you never knew about in your research) besides, why must you still twist the stats to make the guy look bad? when did 6 out of 14 become 50% or am I missin something?

debosky:
Neither do I give 100% credit to Song. Denilson played a bigger role in that in my view, with Diaby's contribution being the least primarily due to his inconsistency and frequent bouts of injury.
There was a direct correlation between Diaby's fitness and when we had that run, Cesc was out through most of that period and Diaby played a lot of those games particularly the Away ones (which I've pointed out to you) where our slick passing machine usually gets overpowered with rough house tactics.

debosky:
Diaby joined at almost 20. . .Nicklas B shows more confidence in himself than Diaby does and turns in more regular performances (yes I know he had no injuries). The injury excuse doesn't hold any water to me - it's been over THREE years already so the excuse is over played.
You call 15 goals in over 40 appearances regular performances? do you realize that Diaby only recently had his hundredth appearance for Arsenal? serious Injuries that happen at critical times in a player's development can actually permanently stall a player's career even before it takes off (where is Michael Johnson of Man City now?)

debosky:
I am not living in the past - Fulham and Man Utd are not in the past, and I have posted glaring errors made by Diaby in those games. Your insistence on some fabled 'improvement' doesn't hold water.

Blatant errors

- unable to defend at set pieces, despite his height.
- frequent tendency to run into dead ends or try to dribble 4 players when he'll end up losing the ball
- lack of concentration and focus
- lackadaisical attitude - failing to run back to cover when the team is under attack
You are definitely living in the past about Diaby, all players who try to take on and beat players tend to give the ball away occasionaly, I'd like to have that present in our team sometimes rather than always passing in front of 2 banks of 4 and getting no where. Inability to defend at set pieces is more of a systemic failure than a personal problem with Diaby. I recall Bendtner heading into his own goal against Tottenham in the Carling cup 2 seasons ago from a similar scenario as Diaby so you aint sayin much.
You're the only one I've seen pointing out a lackadaisical attitude in Diaby, the stats definitely don't back you up on that but if you're referring to the break at Man City when Clichy lost the ball, Song was supposed to have Micah Richards covered and besides Diaby was a long way away from that and had to make himself available to receive a pass if we broke the other way.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by duduspace(m): 9:37pm On Sep 30, 2009
debosky:
Since that time he hasn't had any good moments!! Count the number of chances he abysmally wasted y'day, not even getting them on target!

I mentioned how a 5' 7'' Andy Johnson was outjumping a 6'2'' Diaby and you said he was making a good case for himself? The only case Diaby is making for himself is to be benched.
You exaggerate too much, how many times exactly did Andy Johnson outjump Diaby? or maybe more importantly I should ask if Diaby was actually detailed to man mark Andy Johnson in that game?. and what exactly do you mean by good moment? cos it seems your definition of good moment seems to be only that which directly leads to a goal.

debosky:
Your comments regarding Cesc are laughable at best. Cesc had a bad first half, WHO DIDN'T??  huh  I don't know what you mean by 'direct', but Cesc has 5 assists this season already with 3 goals - if that's not direct and producing results, I don't know what is.
You obviously have no clue what the difference is between a direct midfielder able to impose himself physically on the pitch and a passing playmaker who dictates play. Please watch Gerrard and Lampard play and then compare them to Cesc and you will then understand what I mean to have a direct midfielder.

debosky:
Are you a joker? What Cesc are you talking about? It cannot be the Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal - who had the vision to QUICKLY release RVP for the goal against Fulham? Or to quickly release AA23 for y'days goal?  huh

Again you are talking way too much about Cesc here - Diaby's passing was WOEFUL in that game, his tackling was even WORSE. If anything, he made our performance WORSE. The only steel in the midfield that day was from Song and Cesc and NOT from Diaby, who didn't make one useful pass ALL GAME.
You miss the point, this is not a debate about who is better at making through passes (or even better overall) as there are not many in the whole world better than Cesc in that regards (even though his first half against Fulham was still worse than any Diaby performance I've seen in recent years, just go back and watch that half without your rose tinted googles on). The whole point is that Diaby is a vastly improved player who is getting more confident in his role in the team as he gets more game time and therefore undeserving of the scorn you clueless lot pour on him.
Your description of the game also shows you hardly watched it at all, did you see that link to the chalkboard of stats that slimshay put up previously? just go there and look at the different stats to compare Diaby and Cesc's performance in the defensive aspect of the game and then we can have something close to a reasonable discussion.

debosky:
That might be true, but that was by far more due to Song's meteoric rise than anything Diaby did. Did Diaby play the 17 games?  huh
He played in a lot of those games particularly when Cesc was out due to injury and he made significant contribution to our getting crucial points from  away games like Villa, Hull  and Everton where our midfield is often overpowered. I do acknowledge the crucial part Song played in our new found defensive stability at that point but even Song wouldn't lay claim to doin it alone.

debosky:
We've heard this for YEARS now - he can't stay fit, he can't maintain concentration and he is simply a luxury we can't afford. Yes he has penetrative power, but he is too darn inconsistent for a club like Arsenal. The injury you talk about was nearly THREE years ago!! Dudu was injured and is already back doing his best - how much longer for Diaby??

We can't wait forever - he better grab his moment cos once Denilson is fit, he is going straight back to the bench if he still puts in similar performances.
You are being totally silly in equating Diaby's circumstances to Eduardo's, I was referring to stages of development in my post, just as an analogy which do you think would affect one's  development more if ill for a year as a student preparing for say a PHD thesis or for an experienced professor in a particular field to be out ill for a year? Dudu was an established international confident in his own abilities even before he joined us at all compared to Diaby who was a potential we were looking to develop.
You also live too much in the past, yes he was injury prone, couldn't maintain concentration and was damned inconsistent but we are talking about the here and now and the signs from Diaby look very promising and some of us can see that even if you are blind to it.

I'll keep saying it, when your perception is jaundiced you cannot see objectively. Diaby honestly did not help himself with his pedestrian and below par performance in the seasons past. But it is unjust to carry that perception of him into this season where he has turned in more than above performances more than not. I said it before, diaby was moved over to the left side during the fulham match to cover for Clichy and cover well he did.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/1EyDz4bms9ATt79g4gK1
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/tAEf0376u2V078812w6R

Yet Fletcher is a mancunian god in midfield and diaby a nonentity.

Has he frustrated me this season, yes, has he shown me he can be better, yes, is he actually better yes.
Instructive to note that no one is yet to commend is performance yesterday. Abi im no play well ni? No one commends his performance at all. Diaby's defensive work is improving. No one seems to stick it to Cesc when he comes out below par. It's Diaby that will never come good. Yet i maintain it, Cesc gave away more balls during the fulham match than diaby did.

@Edoyad, arsenal cant win nothing with short midfielders?! now that is a new one one.
No mind dem, I repeat Cesc was a liability in the first half of that match against Fulham. I like the way Diaby is making a good case for himself with his recent performances even though he has still got some way to go.

slimshay:
For one Chelsea's 'huge' midfiled did nothing for them against Wigan  grin   grin  grin. Infact i was ashamed for Mikel. He was constantly getting owned. Song is not bigger than Mikel but he more than held his own against Wigan.
Mikel's destiny went all wrong when he made that move to Chelsea rather than Manure (even though he has also not helped himself with his attitude).

Can anyone who watched the 2005 WYC where Mikel pulled the strings really say that this was how we all envisaged Mikel would turn out? A creative deep lying playmaker all of a sudden has become a holding midfielder cum destroyer or in other words a football pitch thug like Mascherano and he can't even defend well.

I will always curse Jose Mourinho for messing up the only credible replacement we had for Jay-Jay as I can imagine how Mikel could have turned out in the hands of Arsene. Anyway, maybe Rabiu will come good and put us out of our national football misery.

Mikel has missed the boat.

Apoel FC.  .  .what league are they from? Chelsea had berra not lose to a team whose league I'm not sure of. Will be a tad embarrassing.
After losing to Wigan of all clubs, Apoel would fancy their chances and with that old cargo squad anything can and is likely to happen.

^^ I bet there must be a trophy for semi final appearances in the GAYYners cabinet.

That is the most notable trophy they have won in the last 5 season.

This is where I know you don't know what you are saying.
Players past there sell by date. . . You mean the following:-

Drogba - He's scored 6 goals in 7 games.
Lampard - The most consistent midfielder in Europe . . . 20 goals a season over the past five seasons.
Ballack - he is not a starter. . . but still puts in consistent performances. Moreover, every serious team should have one Ballack.
Carvalho - alongside Terry had conceded only 2 goals in the Prem before the Wigan game. . . best defensive record in the premiership SO FAR
Anelka - Highest goal scorer last season.

Now which other players could be past their sell by date? Deco will be gone next season. . . Please tell me the players that are past . . You talk so much of what you don't know.
All this one na poto poto yarns, all those guys you've listed are on the wrong side of 30, how many player yu don see win World footballer of the year after 30? infact, your team is disintegrating ahead of schedule. The initial prognosis was for a total meltdown during the ANC but the defeat to Wigan has confirmed that to be a very conservative forecast.

nateevs:
Your youth won whatever, and Liverpool and Tottenham . . . OK did you know that Liverpool and Tottenham have been the highest spenders in the premiership over the last 3 seasons? What happened to their youth system? Name one young player that has made it to their first team.

And name one young player in your youth team that has shocked the world. . . or will shock the world in the next five years. Name just one. So much for your best academy.
This confirms that you don't know anything at all. Wetin concern me concern Liverfool or those idiots from shit house lane? I can only speak for my Arsenal. Just check out this conveyor belt of talents from our youth academy of players making it at the highest level: Ashley Cole, Cesc, Clichy, Denilson and in recent times Aaron Ramsey, Carlos Vela, Nicklaus Bendtner, Johan Djorou, Kieran Gibbs, Merida and Jack Wilshere.

Not just one young player in our team has shocked the world but our entire team of players. Which other team have you ever seen put out a team with an average age under 20 years which would go on to comprehensively beat a full strenght premiership side like Wigan just as our youngsters did last year?

And what exactly do we mean by shocking the world? would making it into the Under 21 squad of your country at the tender age of 17 and potentially making it to the world cup at 18 qualify? or are you talking only about spectacular performances of Maradonic proportions?
if its the latter, I'll have to throw my hands up in submission but if its the former, I'll have you present one youth player from your setup with similar achievement.

Besides, you see wetin Merida take our dear country do for WYC?

nateevs:
We don't blow our trumpet with our youth - You will see how they emerge one after another. Sturridge, Matic, Kakuta, DiSanto, Stoch, Bruma, Hutchinson, Borini. You wait and see.
You don't blow your trumpet because you really have none to blow (at least where youth development is concerned) and please remove Sturridge from that list (I mean you can't claim to be responsible for the development of a 19 year old player with multiple premiership appearances prior to purchase and can you remind me how much you bought him exactly?).
And all those players you've mentioned have already come up against us at youth level and have been found wanting (can you remind me again when last a club did the double at youth level like we did last season?)

nateevs:
And you don't know jack about the transfer ban. Chelsea is going to put in an appeal before November and that immediately puts the transfer on hold. In that time Chelsea can transfer who they like or have pre-agreements and still bring players in. Meanwhile Chelsea can prove they signed Kakuta with the authority of the French FA.

I wonder what you say when after all we don't get banned for a single day.
Word of advice my dear deluded chelsea fan, don't count your chicks before they hatch. Word on the street is that there is a real, clear and present risk of your ban being extended on appeal. Anyways, you have every right to be optimistic of the ban being lifted but at present all you have is just that, optimism.

If I believe that rats do not exist, i would not go around buying rat poison every day trying to kill the rats.
Maybe, but if everyone else around me not only believe that rats exist but also believe themselves to be cats who are able to kill the imaginary rats, then I might need to buy a cudgel to chase them out of my house or better still to knock some sense into them if that were possible.

This guy . . . .
Can you tell me why you think there are no trophies in the immediate future. . .

I hate lame reasoning. . . You don't post for the love of it. . There's no need to post if it's all garbage
Even you with your rose tinted glasses should be able to see it. I'll illustrate it for you in a simple mathematical equation.

1. Aged team with most players past their sell by date.

+

2. Transfer ban preventing you from bringing in new players with your money miss road spending

=

3. Influx of your youth team players into your squad (such as we are already seeing in your recent Carling cup outing). Our Youth team is officially the best at Under 18 level (winning both the League and the Youth cup last year) followed closely by Liverfool and Tottenham so no hope for you in that direction. You are actually now closer to relegation than to winning anything ceteris paribus
