Deep Sight:Some people also claimed to see a face on the moon, (the work of natural forces in operation on the moon changing the moonscape) and said they had seen the face of god. If eternity is timeless as most people claim then anything that can happen will definitely happen and maybe, just maybe what we know in the present is simply an event within a limitless sample space. But yu wouldn't be willing to accept that would you? for the simple reason that it would make "Randomness" become the god that you are desperately seeking. |
O ga o, Venezuela self don dey become football power? if we no win this match, we don ja be dat o. |
Predicted Line-ups anyone? here is mine: Szczesny Sagna- Gallas- Verminator- Clichy Song Cesc Diaby Bendtner Arshavin RVP Eboue, Ramsey and Walcott with cameos. |
Stand Up if you hate Tottenham, and everybody stood up. |
lightwalk:Wrong, some of them claim there is more than one, and some of them are even so convoluted that the "Unusual suspects" story pales in comparison. Besides we now know it is a game of chance with the odds stacked heavily against you as there are new gods being discovered everyday. And I'm not interested in your kalokalo gods. |
dayokanu:You too dey talk old story when last did you reach the last 4 of the UCL? na only to dey beat small clubs for Bundesliga and to buy Real Madrid rejects remain for una abi. From grace to grass be una story. |
See Fergie
|
So Dayokanu na Bayern fan, yur club na big fish in a small pond make una dey dere dey flex muscle for Bundesliga and living on old glory. |
sexyLeamon:Wrong logic, the only set of people who can lay claim to this assurance are those who believe in all gods. If Yahweh of the bible doesn't get you, then Allah will hammer you and if both of them miss you there is one big center back God out there that nobody knows about who is ready to rugby tackle you and toss you into the nearest pit of fire he can find if you dare not pay lip service to him. Bottom line is if there is a god out there, we are all screwed (at least by the weird logic of most religions anyway). |
You mancs should have lost the game yesterday, if not the general predisposition of most of the clubs to have already been defeated in their minds before they play manU, Wolves should have won the game yesterday if only they beleived in themselves. |
proudly9ja:Merida is off to the WYC in Egypt along with Gavin Hoyte. I also join you in looking forward to Merida's appearance in the next round, I would put him in with Ramsey and Le Coq in the MF and push Wilshere closer to the opponents goal. Sunu didn't play well yesterday (compared to what I've seen him do in the reserves) and I still have question marks over Traore's stamina and suitability for a more advanced role on the left wing. He'd better adapt quickly though cos Gibbs has that Clichy assistant role sewn down tight and some blokes are of the opinion Clichy is already living on borrowed time. I also look forward to seeing Kyle Bartley somewhere down the line, though I understand the need for Silvestre and Senderos getting in some minutes. Sceczeny is da Bomb and all the goalies ahead of him had better watch out, I predict that the instance he gets a run in the side he is going to become unbenchable and auto first choice just as Cassilas did in RM, a pity that we have so many good young keepers in the side I think its going to be him and Fabianski staying in the long run and that is going to be some serious competition. |
Sagamite:Blah blah blah, too long a story over nothing, okay, so he is a bit arrogant? so what? the best way to correct him is to attack his school? where is the correlation in that? deal with his points and leave the personal abuse where they belong. I am pleased at his confidence, knowledge and presentation of his points (if he is really 19) but to paraphrase Martin Luther King Jnr. A nairalander should not be judged based on his age, the school he has attended or other mundane attributes but on the quality and substance of his posts. |
Meeeeh, iba fun baba Orlando Owoh, 100 kilo loyon omoge. |
SEFAGO:That is what happens when people disparage things they know nothing about. Reminds me of a Nigerian Psychiatrist who came to Dublin and told a friend that Homosexuals should still be classed as being mentally ill. He kept quiet when his colleague reminded him that there was a time that Blacks were considered sub-human and asked him how he would feel if someone still considered him sub-human. |
Gamine:I don't know and I don't care, if the guy likes he should ask for my school and I'll tell him its Unipetrol. Gamine:I largely agree with this, we mostly all like to have our privates stimulated one way or the other, the question as to whether someone is born gay could as well be rephrased to ask if someone is born heterosexual. As sex and reproduction have become largely separated for mankind. Having said that though, it still must be pointed out that it is well within the realm of possibility for there to be a genetic link of some sort for homosexual behaviour and until the impossibility of such a link is totally eliminated, then you can't catergorically state that it is impossible to be born gay. BTW, I can't help laughin at your jibe about someone getting a BJ from a monkey while blindfolded even though its quite a disturbing image. |
Mr Sagamite cut out the bullsh*t, why the focus on SEFAGO's school when you should be more concerned with the topic being discussed? you are exhibiting the worst of all that is wrong in the typical Nigerian approach to issues, leaving the heart of the issue being discussed and focusing on inanities such as is aptly demonstrated by that idiot in the house who is only interested in constructing complex grammar to the detriment of the issues for discussion in the house. Can't you argue your points without getting so personal and letting us know how important you are? |
bawomolo:I absolutely love that description, it is a curve that starts from Celibacy through heterosexuality and homosexuality and continues all the way to bestiality (which I think is totally gross) and beyond to various acts and practices my mind cannot possibly begin to fathom. What a mystery humankind is eeeewh. Decadent lot (though I judge no one). ![]() |
bawomolo:That would make him bi now wouldn't it? even though one of my friends who beleives people are born gay is fully convinced that those who claim to have a bi orientation are just trying to have the best of both worlds. |
LadyT:I don't agree with this, its like saying no one is born to be a musician or an athlete or with predisposition to cancer, diabetes e.t.c. You will be amazed at what is being discovered in genetic studies if you bother to read it up. Just like the above examples, it still takes action on the part of the individual to act on their natural urges for example Usain Bolt could have refused to take to the track while someone who is naturally predisposed to diabetes could adjust his diet, Michael Jackson could as well have decided not to sing. Defining someone as being born gay or being born heterosexual is a matter of terminology. An equally relevant question might be to ask if anyone is born heterosexual in the first instance I always wonder if heterosexual sex actually became the predominant form of sexual expression due to Natural selection springing into operation to perpetuate the human species, after all no human being is forced by nature to have sex with someone of the opposite sex or is anyone trying to prove that one must be sexually active with someone of the opposite sex in order to survive? The Caster Semenya story is a pungent reminder that "god" is not as perfect as the various religions make him out to be and if a person can biologically/physically come out "wrong/different" (based on our definition of normalcy) why then is it so hard for people to accept the fact that something can go "wrong/different" in the inside specifically with respect to sexuality? Everything we do is still subject to our individual decisions but I am bold to say that just as I have friends who can't keep away from anything in skirts it is not far fetched to understand that there are or maybe people who just naturally can't keep their hands off people of their own sex (metaphorically speaking) while they have no attraction to the opposite sex just as I have no attraction at all to any person of my own sex. |
Banderas:Don't mind the hypocrite, he knocks man's wisdom as nothing yet he wears man's clothes, uses man's computers, takes man's drugs and even studies man's knowledge. I sort of wonder why he is not wearing the skins god supposedly covered the naked man and woman with when he purportedly chased them out of Eden. Banderas:Those are tru words in bold my brother, and to take the concept further God/The creator could actually be randomness and not an intelligent sentient being as he is often purported to be can't he? I personally think the pursuit of god is an unecessary endeavour, you're searching for something you don't even know exists such that even if you find it you can't even know that you have. In my opinion, we shouldn't be the ones looking for god if he exists and wants to be found, rather he should be the one looking for us and to then announce boldly to us all when he has found us and this is my basic philosophy of life. |
Sagamite:@Sagamite Are yu claimin to be a saint without any weakness at all? remember Jesus' words "He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone" on second thots maybe Jesus understood genetics before we all did. Also I do wonder why Jesus told the woman to "Go and sin no more", "Do not commit adultery anymore" would have been more relevant and specific or what do you think? |
This is really a tricky one Jesoul, I always beleived that most things people do in life was by choice (I still largely do anyways) until I had a chat with my sister who is a psychiatrist. In the course of the decision I did find out that there are a lot of things we never knew that are only now being discovered by scientists. For example, are you aware that alcoholism has genetic factors? even idiosyncratic gestures and behaviour are often genetic right? Now I am not saying all alcoholics cannot help themselves because they are predisposed to being alcoholic but their ability to withstand addiction might be seriously compromised relative to someone who doesn't have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism or even addiction of any sort. Now if I apply the same logic to sexual preference, it is well within the realm of possibility to have a genetic predisposition of sexual affinity to one or the other of the sexes for example I was conceived and born as a sucker for skirts TBH and I've always liked and being attracted to the opposite sex since I could differentiate between my two hands, now this does not necessarily mean one is born gay or it could mean one is born gay depending on how you look at issues. At the end of the day, no one is forced to have sex with either of the sexes as a matter of fact after all we do have people who choose celibacy or those who embrace masturbation. It is deviant behaviour in terms of its departure from what is/was considered normal but at the end of the day everyone has their own conception of normalcy. |
C2H5OH: C2H5OH:1. No one at present can say for a certainty how the universe came to be, scientists are theorising and trying to find an answer except for you religious lot who are quick to claim it for your god(s) (something they have not done themselves). You then make astonishing claims such as the bollocks 6 day creation story in the bible which has been conclusively disproved after which some of the more intellectual of you start to twist your earlier claims by comin up with explanations like the stories not being literal in nature. 2. I will answer your question as to how the universe could have existed infinitely when you explain to me how your so called god could have existed timelessly to the exclusion of any other thing or being having the same property of timelessness. 3. No one has ever said they know anything for certain, the search for an understanding of the origins of the universe goes on. But if you go ahead to say the universe has been created by your god then it is left to you to prove that it has indeed been exactly the way you say it is to the exclusion of any other possibility. |
C2H5OH:You have this all wrong, don't want to say you are not thinking straight but bawomolo just put it much simpler. Who am I to know what existed when or how? if yu are however able to accept the claim that god is timeless, why then exclude the possibility of something else being timeless? have you ever wondered maybe the Universe itself is what you are referring to as god? afterall, I'm sure yu've never seen this god. |
@Poster Please don't stop at Islam and Xtianity, also beleive in Ogun, sango, oya, buddha, mormon, e.t.c. that you can beleive in. It is logical to either beleive in all religions or to beleive in non at all. To choose any particular one is the beginning of the long or short road to fanatism depending on your circumstances. You have chosen well. |
C2H5OH:You are contradicting yourself bloke, 1st of all, yu are yet to prove that your so called "God of Abraham exists" at all. Secondly if we accept that your God exists and is timeless, how can you prove him/her/it/whatever to be the only being/material/object/particle/whatever with a timeless existence? |
JeSoul:Heaves a sigh of relief JeSoul:On point one, I beleive yu are wrong, not only christians judiciously & honestly read their bible, from a point of commitment to reading the bible I would say most christians are lazy, choosing only to read supposedly specific promises for them (which unfortunately most of the time they don't even fully understand as they don't place them in the historical context of the times those words were written). a bible scholar however does not of a necessity have to be a christian. I've personally read the bible through twice (KJV version) A scholar also has the obvious benefit of approaching the bible from an impartial point of view because he has no vested interests in the bible being the word of god or not. Perhaps if we had more people of atheistic or agnostic mindsets in the various councils of those days rather than politicians seeking to control and subjugate, there wouldn't be so much dispute about some bible versions being corrupt or not. |
@Jesoul, Is this some sort of segregation yu're starting on Nairaland? do yu mean non christians should not contribute? Anyway's my two pence contribution is simply that god does a disservice to christians when he can't even come down to solve the issues having to do with the adulteration of his supposed words. We aren't talkin about people doubting him here but people who genuinely have faith like you. Bloke is definitely the author of confusion. |
JeSoul:I'm fine o, my sister from another mother. As to my name, don't want to wax lyrical about it like V, but dudu (black) signifies the obscured and unknown (which is not necessarily a bad thing as it is made out to be) and space signifies adventure and search for the yet unknown. Basically, I'm a curious individual and curiosity is yet to kill me. |
GEW:I wonder why a sane person would shout restless sinner at no one |
GEW:delusional bigot in situ |

.
. You know how much prejudice/discrimination black people experience in America/UK (I know to you it isn't obvious, but instead of just assuming that everything is right because i was lucky to come to the US when racism was more reduced) and you try to disparage someones achievements based on affirmative action? I might as well assume that Bayo ogunlesi got to his position at credit suisse through affirmative action (He is one of the heads of the SEO- people who try and get minorities into wall street and a big proponent of AA, I met him once when he came to my school). Insult Barack Obama, someone who spent his first two years at a sub-level liberal art school b4 he transferred to Columbia, and he got the equivalent of a 2-2 (second class upper), then continued to Harvard law (we obviously know how), and graduated magna cum laude (first class equivalent). Did you not celebrate his victory?
