Mamog:Which is what he has done! You didn't read the topic of the thread, you just jumped in to get your 5 minutes of fame. Buhari accepted responsibility for everything, even those that are clearly not his fault! |
healthable:Have you been hiding under a rock? Dasuki wasn't sharing dollars with Jonathan's approval? Methu didn't give his investment advisers (ARM wealth managers) 1 million dollars? Jonathan didn't instruct Dasuki to give Dokpesi, Falae and Anenih dollars? You better wake up from your slumber and know who your real enemies are. Those people you're here defending have since fled the country with their loot and living luxurious lifestyles. You're here on Nairaland defending them. |
Mamog:Go to Joshua's Church if ur looking for someone to fix and turn around ur life in 10 months. You must be a joker |
healthable:Oga 2 years ago, a dollar sold for N160 Naira. Nigeria had plenty of dollars thanks to oil selling at 140 dollars a barrel. We just imported all the rice we needed. Today oil is 39 dollars a barrel. We don't have dollars again because while oil was 140 dollars per barrel, the President of the country at that time (names witheld) chose to dole out the dollars to his political associates through his national security adviser instead of saving. Now we can barely afford the dollars we need to import rice and other essentials. That is why prices have risen in the market. Please sit down to understand the issues before you start posting rubbish otherwise you'll make the mistake of stoning the people that really care about you and are here to help you, like the Jews stoned Jesus Christ their saviour. Not realising that the person you should be stoning and even shooting for your misfortune is the one you're hailing! |
dougivilla:Another Nigerian who doesn't want to understand the issues on ground but just wants to have his 5mins in the spotlight. Nigeria was an utopia before Buhari came in? None of our refineries was working, Boko haram controlled almost 3 states, the Naira had already been officially devalued at the twilight of Jonathan's Presidency, the price of oil plummeted to less than 50 dollars per barrel from 140 dollars per barrel at the peak of Jonathan's Presidency. Nigeria was paying monthly stipends to militants and terrorists to "protect" our pipelines, we had a national security adviser that was sharing money meant to procure weapons to political associates!. You honestly expect the effects of all these to die and go away in 10 months? Jonathan your Messiah spent 6 years buying second hand jets and ships for our armed forces and you expect Buhari to come and perform magic in 10months? You must be very stupeed! |
I'm an everyday Nigerian. I spent hours on the queue today waiting to buy fuel until it finished before it got to my turn. I understand exactly what ordinary Nigerians are going through. But I also understand the underlying issues. A major pipeline servicing the refineries was damaged a couple of months back. All three refineries are down at the moment. We have to import almost all we need now and NNPC is the only importer with all the attendant issues with logistics. I'm not expecting Buhari or Kachikwu to pull off any magic. If anytin, I'll blame the Navy for failing to safeguard our pipelines from those saboteurs. I think Nigerians need to sit down and understand the issues before they start throwing stones at Buhari. Too much damage has been done to the country already by previous governments. People who were supossed to govern us and provide selfless service to us just sat down and shared our money! We need to give this man our maximum support because if he can't save Nigeria then we may as well just give up. |
Nigeria joined a coalition of countries fighting terrorism because we have an islamist insurgency in Nigeria. These stupeed CAN people are just trying to remain in the news. We need all the help and support in the world to fight Terrorism. If we can get a coalition of countries affected by the menace of ISIS and Al-queda to come together and create a united front, with monetary resources, arms and ammunition and intelligence sharing, maybe we might we able to end this menace. Lets ignore these attention seeking buffons seeking relevance. Buhari has ended the regime of patronising religious leaders with gifts and money. These old ideeots are just pissed money is not flowing like it used to. |
courage89:Oga stop confusing people. You can go short on a stock for 6 months or even more. Shorting means buying a stock in anticipation of falling price. I can borrow fbnh shares from my broker at N3.7 in anticipation of the price falling to N3.2, sell at a cheaper price after the price would have plummethed and then return the same quantity of units I borrowed to my broker with profit. And FYI I know brokers in Nigeria that give stocks to people to short and retrieve them back after the prices would have fallen. |
Possibly the most intellectual, factual and earth shaking thread I've ever seen on Nairaland, and I'm an old member! This should win thread of the year! it's a pity though that the posts accompanying the topic aren't as intellectual or contributing to the discourse in any way. OP I stand with youn100%! The days of theses criminal pastors and their criminal doctrines are near. If they're so concerned with fulfilling all the old testament laws and arguing that Jesus came to fulfil and not abolish them, then we should go and build and ark and have people carry around. We should stone women who commit adultery like the law says in Deuteronomy. I'm so happy that the eyes of my people are opening gradually. |
Intendy:There's no way Zenith will pay the traditional N1.5 final dividend and income hunters will let the div yield remain at 10% with an upside of N15. The div yield should fall to at least 7% before people start selling off. 7% div yield leaves an upside of N21. That's my own exit price. |
baum1:Believe it or not, there have been years when Nigeria has had trade surpluses, mostly occasioned by massive crude oil exports. In those years we would have earned more dollars than we spent but created very little demand for the naira. If for sentimental reasons we're pursuing a stronger naira, we should encourage foreign portfolio investors to come in and drop their dollars for our Naira to buy our securities. Exporting more doesn't make your currency stronger, it only eases your demand for dollars to fuel your imports, and even provides you with yet more dollars to increase your imports; Which is why the Naira has rarely appreciated in the past 20 years even when we've had trade surpluses. Only a deliberate program of import substitution to ease (not eliminate) importation, and the devaluation of the Naira will stimulate the inflow of dollars that will ease the current demand. |
I hate the unnecessary whinning in this article. See as a consumer, I won't patronise made in Nigeria textiles because they are of low quality and they are very scarce. As a producer I won't manufacture textiles in Nigeria because there's no power and the machinery to produce the textiles has to be imported at the current exchange rate and without access to credit facilities from banks. If we want a buoyant textile industry, we should give the manufacturers power and access to cheap credit. We should give the consumers reasons to purchase locally made textiles by improving on the quality of our local production, increasing the duty on Imported textiles and empowering the Customs to do their job and arrest smugglers. Chikena! And Mr OP, the exchange rate is not a means of measuring the buoyancy of a country or its economy. You should check how much a dollar exchanges for the Japanese yen. A weaker Naira is even an incentive to exporters as long as we reign in inflation. You can't be advocating for increased export oriented local production and a stronger Naira. Doesn't make sense. All these emotion laden write ups will do us no good. Enough of the noise making already! |
EDUECO:Hate u for this but the emphasis on the minus was hilarious! |
I think in everything, the rule of law has to be followed. Jonathan followed the rule of law in handing over power to Buhari after losing the election. That was the constitutional requirement. He therefore didn't do anything spectacular. Buhari too should follow the rule of law and ensure punishment for looting the treasury or theft is meeted out to Jonathan if he is found culpable for theft or money laundering. Let us stop this culture of commending people for merely doing what they're supossed to do in the first place. Jonathan should be tried and sentenced appropriately. |
TP of 0.6 for Fidelity? That alone is enough to rubbish that report. Nuff said. |
This man is a bloody liar! His corruption case with the EFCC is still ongoing, only paused because of the immunity he enjoys as a governor. His house in Ibadan is still under EFCC seal. Which Supreme court Judgement exonerated him? Bloody stupîd liar Ayo Fayose, ranting like a headless chicken. He knows that when his tenure ends in 2018 under Buhari's regime, he'll be locked up for corruption like the other thieves. |
PETERiCHY:Asshole |
I think we should just focus on empowering parents to feed their children at home instead of feeding them in school and creating avenues for the spread of disease, considering our hygenic standards in this country. If I had a child in public school in Nigeria, I'd never allow for anyone to feed them in school. |
Having lived and worked in Twon brass for a while, I can say the results are in order. Brass is an APC stronghold. I was around when Dickson campaigned and nobody was really interested in what he had to say, although it was because he wasn't as generous with gifts and money as Sylva was when he visited. Brass is a small island where virtually everybody knows everybody. And the security there is crazy so I don't know if anyone would have had any chance to rig. |
DeRuggedProf:I disagree. There was a time their stock picks were 100% spot on. Their picks are more or less belated these days. |
Fashakin will have it. Joe igbokwe has been given a an administrative bread and butter job in Lagos. I doubt if he'll leave that one. |
Lmao! See this naive young woman. You think all the guys toasting and promising u marriage actually want to marry you? They just want to taste your cookie and vamoos! |
I'm sorry but how many countries in the world are stuîd enough to always send teams to even the most ridiculous tournaments all year round, on government money? Half of which is even looted. If these people are so desirous of competing in every tom, dick and harry competition, they should look for sponsorship from private coys and not depend on the money we're supossed to b using to build hospitals and good roads, to b paying N10million to a 27 year old man claiming to b 17 whose only claim to fame is kicking a stupîd ball and lifting a lousy trophy. That era has gone with the PDP. |
I think Buharis references to Nnamdi KANU and Dasuki were lost in translation. Buhari said KANU has two passports and he used neither of them to enter the country. The court granting him bail means he has to deposit his passport, passport he doesn't need to escape the country seeing as he came in illegally. Dasuki case is more controversial. The morality of setting the man free is what is rattling the President. 2 million kids in IDPs, thousands of homes destroyed. Because this man diverted money meant to fight insurgents. We can't let him walk free or escape justice. If you guys are so high on the rule of law, you should check how the US has been illegally hunting Julian Assange all over the world. Or how Edward Snowden has been hunted illegally like an animal worldwide. Or how the US has kept Muslims in Guantanamo bay. There are just rare cases where the rule of law and justice need to be sidelined for the greater good. |
PETERiCHY:And to think I used to respect your opinions and posts, or perhaps your account has been compromised... |
PETERiCHY:Very shameful that someone will give this kind of analysis in the 21st century. I shouldn't invest in the stock market in 2016 because corrupt politicians will sell their assets, how ridiculous! |
These are the people that have thrived on the misfortune of millions of Nigerians, looted and shared our commonwealth. See his opening remarks, "When you tell a poor man you are going to bring down a rich man.... " What kind of human being with a heart talks like that? |
The security guys at the airport obviously don't know their jobs. I don't blame the passengers. People lose luggages everywhere. But to allow disgruntled passengers onto the tarmac and standby and watch them sleep on the runway means our Airport security is a joke. |
Kraspo:And then you kill 300 people? 300 defenceless people? Wielding just sticks and stones? You go further and destroy their houses and exhume their dead ones? For what?Just because a big man couldn't pass a road? |
I think Buhari did the right thing in setting up an investigative committee to examine what happened. We've heard different versions. The COAS claimed he was a target for assassination and then authorised the release of a video showing young men with sticks who just blocked the road. I wonder how blocking a road translates to an assassination attempt. This COAS should be removed and then given a military trial as a deterrent to other soldiers. 300 lives just wasted because a big man wanted to pass the road. Very ridiculous and only happens in third world countries. |
Honestly young people in Nigeria who use twitter are very clueless and stupîd. Lai Mohammed said Boko haram is defeated because their capability to hold territory and launch attacks from held territories has been totally destroyed. What we have now are sporadic attacks on soft targets mainly for propaganda reasons and to make it seem like boko haram is still strong. That's what the man said. Young people in this country should endeavour to read and not just skim through headlines and start twitting like stupîd brainless birds. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/war-against-boko-haram-is-largely-won-says-lai-mohammed/ |
