Thank u very much Sir. He gave me d first shot on monday. I felt very okay but by tuesday night, those feelings returned to my left leg and very serious. I was forced to purchase ampiclox and I used it. By wednesday morning, d feeling was intensed on d left side of my head but greatly reduced on my leg. I went back to d hospital hoping dat d doctor will give me d second shot. He said he can do nothing until thursday morning (this morning). I took another capsule of ampiclox dat same morning, d painful headache relieved me but I was very weak. I just hope it has not gotten to my CNS by this morning. The same dog that bite me is still alive but was vaccinated d 3rd day after it bite me. I will tel the doc what u told me Sir, thanks a lot.
First : I think you should cool down small, it is your anxiety that is giving you headache not rabies and also taking ampliclox has no effect on rabies or your headache for that matter!
Secondly: It is highly unlikely that that dog has rabies if alive and well 18days after your encounter. The dog owner should have a vaccination card for the dog and the vaccination status can be confirmed from it.
Thirdly: The vaccines helps you to form immunity against rabies and need to be given at a RECOMMENDED interval. You cannot just take it anyhow so that it can work faster!! The immunoglobulin is already made immunity that will help clear the virus fast if present.
Finally: If the rabies is the cause of what you are feeling now, you will not be the one posting on Nairaland! !!!

SA had standardised and modified how nurse assistants should practice and the level of education needed. Same also is applicable in other developed and developing countries but can't be equated with the sort of quackery we are witnessing here in Nigeria.
In other countries, there are boards to regulate this workers even in Ghana they have nursing assistant schools which gave it the much needed legal backing.
Do we have it here...no. Everything about us even health is a classical cut and join.
This I have stated earlier on this thread """Countries have all the rights to determine what they want or legalize. Unless we want to fool ourselves Auxiliaries exist in Nigeria and have come to stay HOWEVER what the Nursing and Midwifery Council needs to do is to look for ways to streamline and regularize the profession. Because of lack of regularization things have gone haywire!. South Africa has found a way to regularize it. ""

I think pressures should be mounted on the Nursing Council to look at ways to regulate the profession rather than fight to abolish it. Nature abhors a vacuum. Traditional birth attendants still take deliveries in Nigeria whether we like it or not. Basically because modern healthcare in some areas is still very rudimentary and people must deliver or as a necessity, try to get well if sick.

What is an Auxiliary Nurse?

Did you know - Both men and women can become Auxiliary Nurses?

Did you know - Nurses are in demand!

Auxiliary Nurses carry out basic nursing procedures and take care of patients on a less specialized level under the supervision of a registered nurse.

An Auxiliary Nurse must be registered with the South African Nursing Council.

What does an Auxiliary Nurse do?

takes care of the ill and weak
assists nurses and doctors
makes sure patients are comfortable
feeds patients
makes beds
takes temperatures, pulses, blood pressure and weigh patients
puts patients at ease
helps with putting on new bandages etc
works in hospitals, clinics, health care centres and old aged homes
works as basic home-care nurses

JustHere2Observ:
There is no such thing as auxillary nurse. In developed countries, the nursing board provides programs and licensure for those who are not able to practice as a nurse but can assist the nurse in giving care to patients, they are called CNAs; certified nurse assistants. What we have here in Nigeria are quack nurses because they received no formal training and are not licensed to do what they do.
The regulatory body here doesn't not have provision for them to train as nurse assistants. Besides, the cap does not make the nurse, but the scientific rationale behind every care she gives.

For your safety, ask questions.
Sorry to disappoint you; there is a term called Auxiliary Nurse. A term used in the UK and other Commonwealth countries while CNAS is an US derived terminology. Countries have all the rights to determine what they want or legalize.

Many things also exist in the US that don't exist in Nigeria e. g Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. Each country must decide what works or otherwise for them.
See a description in any UK site or just Google it.
HealthRe: Qualified Nurse Or Auxiliary Nurse (difference) by durodee(m): 3:08pm On Feb 08, 2016
Auxiliary Nurse otherwise called a Nurse Assistant or Nurse Aid or Ward Aid is a person that ASSISTS a Certified Nurse in doing his or her duties. They assist in carrying out caring procedures that you do not need to have medical knowledge to do hence there is NO fixed training or syllabus or a minimum level of education. They train on the job to follow orders from a Registered /Qualified Nurse or a Doctor. They are not trained to make a medical diagnosis or commence treatment. One analogy is to compare Man O War with a Soldier. Both wear uniforms but war pass war!!
A certified or registered Nurse will need to attend a national regulations' specified period of Training in a recognized School of Nursing or University, as its common nowadays, then pass a standardized exam by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria before he/she can practice. Moreover, a Nurse is expected to make some diagnosis and commence treatment before the arrival of a doctor.
Experience by an Auxiliary does not equate to a Certified Nurse. It is unfortunate that in Nigeria, most people put on the uniform and parade themselves as Nurses and are even encouraged by some health care providers to lie to us because they are cheaper to employ and sack!!
Most Ward Aid in standard hospitals do not wear white uniform. You see them fully decked up even with caps in private hospitals. cry cry

Initially, i thought otherwise that a 20amp charger for example will deliver the same power in any voltage system and would naturally take longer to charge when battery bank is increased. I have realised that thats not the only case since when voltage increases, power delivery increases proportionally. I arrived at a conclusion in this post below.

I got this reply from Chris which got me a little confused and sought to get some more explanations leading to the exchanges

Thank you for your contribution. I now understand why Mercury 1.2kva 12v and 2.4kva 24v inverter have the same charging current of 20A but same charging time even with the 24v having twice the battery bank.

I am not a new person here, i have watched his videos and seen pictures of his installations. When he first dropped his comment here, i thought he would be of help.
Can I Try to answer this? Can we look at it from a point of how much power (voltsX current) we can put back to our battery bank ? The current plus the volts you are using that current matters. A 12V 400amp system has the same TOTAL capacity as 24V 200 amp system = 4800Watts all things being equal in a perfect system. However, 12v 20amp system will deliver 240w power back to my battery bank per hour while 24v 20amp will deliver 480w, cutting the charging time by half.
Hope this helps.

The oldest I have installed is 2 years old. The fan failed and it is still working. The 3 Kva is more reliable than the 5 Kva. I have the 5 Kva paralleled I initially had a software issue. I did the upgrade and it worked for a while. One of the units developed an issue with nepa. It goes nuts when it sees nepa.
I import mine. They have yet to burn out from charging. They shut down when they get too hot. The common problem is a locked or failed fan
If they don't fail at the beginning they do last.
My inverter is almost 2 years old now. A 3KVA,30AMP AC charger with 50 amp PWM CC . Doing great except when i connected to NEPA and it caught fire within 2weeks. NOT SMELL OF BURNING WIRES O! VISIBLE VIGOROUS FLAMES!!. Worked fine for months with Gen charging before that fire issue. Fire went out soon after NEPA was disconnected. The inverter does it job well now (inverting only) without any trouble but i have not tried the PWM to check if still functional. I have other MPPT chargers but lost the automatic change over capability cry cry

Battery Desulfation
Find out how to desulfate/desulphate and rejuvenate lead acid batteries
home > storage | electronics
Printer Friendly Version Print Article

Lead plates in a lead acid battery - battery desulfation

A Lead Acid Battery is made up of plates of lead in a case filled with an electrolyte (dilute sulphuric acid). When the battery discharges, some of the lead from the plates combines with the electrolyte to make lead sulfate (PbSO4) which builds up on the surface of the plates as crystals (as electrons leave the battery as electricity). This is called sulfation.

When the battery is next charged this process is reversed with the lead sulfate crystals breaking down - returning the lead to the plates and restoring the electrolyte to its original composition. BUT, each time a battery goes through this discharge/charge cycle some of the lead sulfate crystals remain and over time harden, thicken, and grow over the surface of the lead plates. This is a particular problem when batteries are left discharged for long periods of time and when they are deeply discharged.

Lead sulfate on the plates of a battery acts like an insulator reducing the plate area in contact with electrolyte. Over time this build up of lead sulfate crystals will result in a battery which cannot hold much charge - i.e. effectively a dead battery which needs to be replaced.

Reconditioning a Lead Acid Battery
Desulfation (also know as Reconditioning or electrolyte stratification) offers a way for dead batteries to be brought back to life and for tired batteries to be rejuvenated. It can also be used every few months to keep batteries in the best possible condition all the time. Desulfation will not bring batteries with a shorted cell or worn out plates back to their former glory, but it is a valuable tool for anyone depending on battery storage for power who cannot afford to buy new batteries.

When lead sulphate crystals build up on the lead plates, it is not an easy task to remove them and thereby recondition the battery. Breaking down hardened crystal build up and dissolving cystals back into the electrolyte requires a charging voltage much higher than would ever be used to actually charge the battery. But, if you were to put this constant high voltage through the battery it would overheat, release gas, and could potentially explode. Therefore pulse conditioning is used to give very short blasts of high voltage sufficient to shift the lead sulphate crystals without overly raising the temperature of the battery as a whole.

Desulfation pulses shown on a scope

Every lead acid battery has a resonant frequency at around 2 to 6 megahertz. If pulses of electricity (high frequency, high voltage, but low power) are sent into the battery, rhythmic beating (resonance) of the plates causes the crystalline deposits to break up and the sulphate returns to the electrolyte solution.

This process takes three to four weeks typically during which time the battery must be trickle charged (in parallel with the desulphator) so that the battery ends up reconditioned and fully charged. Below is a video showing the lead plates inside two identical batteries - one which has been desulphating for three weeks, and one which has been left in its original sulfated condition.

Note that the voltage measured across the battery terminals will drop as the desulphation takes place as the internal resistance of the cells is reduced by the clearing of the crystals on the lead plates. At the same time, the amount of charge that the battery can hold will be increasing.

Build a Battery Desulfator
Circuit diagram for a low power 12V lead acid battery desulfator

A DIY battery desulfator circuit originally published in the US-based Home Power magazine has been successfully made for many years all over the world. Here are links to the instructions to build the Low Power (circuit design above, and finished example circuit pictured below) and the High Power versions of the circuit. These links are to be found together with a lot of other useful information here.

Please do you mean 180ah? A 12v battery should be @12.8v at rest , and it is already 50% discharged at 12v! A 10v reading ( if trully 10v ) meant the battery is completely flat ; and if left for long in such a state , likely dead!

Thank you o.From all the comments here,it's obvious the guy doesn't know much about the solar and inverter installation as he claims.thanks everyone for your comments at least I''m a bit knowledgeable about it to challenge him.I will call him up to uninstall and look for another installer.Much appreciated.
A few years ago I was in your shoes. If is unfortunate that there are charlatans everywhere, more so when it involves a "new technology". I can testify that inverter+ solar is good BUT you must be ready to do some homework. When my inverter system caught fire twice, I abandoned it as a lost cause! A friend eventually pointed to this thread on Nairaland https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta and adviced me strongly to find time and read from page 1to the end and not be tempted to jump to the end. I will support your decision to disconect the system awhile but please do not let it end there! Now i have power in my house 24/7 and i am not connected to NEPA.I am fully on SOLAR. Your installer is either naive, stupid or dubious to keep ascertaining that your system does not need a charge controller. It is like saying a car does not need a BRAKE because you were not planning to speed. Kindly convince your hubby to join you in this solar study expedition and you will never regret it! All the best!!!!

Murder indeed! With all that associated trauma/injury
By herself? Broken head (frontal bone and maxilla), smashed chest, broken arm, etc?
How possible?

Yes, we await the post-mortem report but how does a perfect love go wrong?
There's no way it could have been murder.

True, we query domestic violence but why are her people stream-lining their option only to murder?
The world is watching
Fall from an height could and will do same or worse! Gravity related injuries are bad; not only do the victims need to contend with the smash to the ground , they could also collide with foreign objects enroute. Whether she jumped or was pushed , who knowshuh but it will be premature to castigate the husband or assert that he is a wife beater . Some people examined the body and i am sure they will look out for defensive wounds on her body. Nobody can sustain that amount of injuries within a house and a significant amount of blood will not be splashed around.
Such damage cannot also occur in a vacuum; did the neighbours hear any noise? apart from the insinuation of domestic assault from the newspaper, there seems to be nothing much to work on.
So sad that another life is lost...........

THANKS for all the comments...quite an eye opener.

though my cc has never been extremely hot, even on very hot days..
i did the 4 x 4 setup, cos i felt , that wud reduce the load on my panel to cc cables which are rated for 15amps or so...its 10awg solar cable.

wud do 2 x 2 when i buy a new cc

@iamtoobuisy2bother.....noticed something similar in 2 luminous installations that are hooked up to 200 x 2 batts.
1 of the batts appears to hv a lower voltage of BOUT 10.4V WHEN the system is down..................noticed twas the negative terminal batt in one of the installations......cud u confirm which battery also failed in urs...wannna test my theory.
if my theory is right periodically swapping the batteries will counter such
I can confirm i have noticed a lesser voltage at cutout on all the batteries on the NEGATIVE end of my systems. I thought at that time that maybe the NEGATIVE terminal cable being a bit longer was the problem! Periodical swaprounds highly recommended.

Thin film are awesome if you have the room for them. They are not as sensitive to shading or heat. They also perform better in low light conditions relative to your mono or poly.

You are maxing out your controller. 1646 divided by 24 Volts is about 66 amps. You might want to go to a bigger controller.
You are absolutly right on all counts! Read that these exceptionally high values will only last a few months though as the panels settle in. Then the yield will fall back to rated figures, especially panels from good manucfacturers, or lower and these changes were poorly understood as "loss of efficiency".

About the CC, these figures were spikes. Unfortunately i saw 1674 W or so at a time! I am strongly hoping the CC will be able to bear these, as the usual watts range between 1300- 1450W. Come dry season, the CC will be sorely stressed but by then the panels will hopefully produce 1400W±5% at their peak.

I have 2 settups: 6 X 255W (1.53KaW total ) solarworld Mono panels connected 3X2 to a 60amp MPPT CC to an 800amp 24v battery bank that generated 7.7kWh/day and another 6 X 180 W Poly (1.08kw) connected 1X6 through a 30amp MPPT CC generating only about half of the bigger system. The Inverter inbuilt 50amp PWM CC is now redundant but available as backup any time. Wants to dabble into thin film panels as soon as I have chance, I have a friend who keeps swearing on them! grin grin grin
. My connections are untidy, hope to get better with time.
I eventually delved to the realm of thin film panels............14 pieces of 100W DuPont Apollo Panels, all in parallel to a 60amp iTracer MPPT CC............averages 50-59 amps by noon, got as high as 1646.2W or higher as spikes! So far so good!!!!

Cut according to the size of your panel and used d silicon gum. apply d gum moderately from all 4 sides to prevent moisture from gaining access.

do not attempt to remove the old broken glass.else u loose ur panel.
the major reason glass is used on d panel is 2 prevent moisture.
