By: Joseph Jibueze, Osogbo On: September 27, 2018
United States Consul General in Lagos F. John Bray, who was in Osogbo to monitor the rerun election, has described the process as credible.
He said he did not observe any malpractices or violations of the Electoral Act in Unit 17, Ward 5 where the rerun election took place.
Bray was at the unit from morning when voting started till result was announced at about 3.50pm.
Asked about his observations, he said: “The process has been credible.”
On allegations that some voters were denied access to some units by thugs, Bray said: “There are things going on in six other units. I cannot comment on those things.
“I’m here as an observer today. All I can talk about is what’s in front of me. And today in Osogbo its working fine.
“At this polling unit things have been going on pretty well today. No problem with card readers; people have been orderly.
“We have party agents here from all the political parties. I’m not hearing a lot of complaints. I haven’t seen any vote buying here.”
On why he was there personally to monitor the election, Bray said it was due to the importance the United States attaches to democratic processes.
“The United States is interested in democracy, because we’re a democratic country. So, we always support elections and democracy in Nigeria.
“I observe all the elections personally and I was here last week,” he said.
On how he rates the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bray said: “From what I’ve seen so far in Osogbo, INEC’s performance is fine.”
Bray, who was at the unit when gunshots were fired around noon, praised the security agencies for preventing any disruptions.
“There was someone who tried to disrupt the poll. They quickly got the unit back to order. The Police and security services came together.
“There was somebody trying to upset the balance, but he didn’t,” Bray said. Who gives a ratass about what this Obama operative had to say on the organized chaos called rerun? The rerun was anti-democracy. |

It is absolute silly endeavor to dabble into the so-called Nigeria Peace Index (NPI) without free presence of catalytic factors that will draw a line between chaos and peace. Nigeria society does not have liberty to act as it wishes within the law. So what index are you on about? A drunken Nigerian soldier or policeman armed with AK-47 will beat a civilian into stupor without stern response from the society. Is this what you call peace? |

Politics › Re: Sani Baban-Inna, Aisha Buhari's ADC Arrested For Defrauding Her Of 2.5Bn - PT by Duru1(m): 3:07pm On Sep 25, 2018 |
Elbinawi: A scandal is brewing within the household of President Muhammadu Buhari.
His wife, Aisha, has caused the arrest of her own Aide De Camp, after accusing him of defrauding her, those familiar with the matter have told PREMIUM TIMES.
The president’s wife is alleging that Sani Baba-Inna, a chief superintendent of police, received huge donations from politicians and business people on her behalf and then kept the cash to himself.
Mrs Buhari therefore requested the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to arrest and compel Mr. Baba-Inna to refund the money, put at over N2.5billion.
The police officer was arrested Friday and has remained in detention ever since, with relatives having no access to him, family members say.
It is unclear how the president’s wife came about the allegation, but one source said another aide working for Mrs Buhari originated the claim.
An associate of the embattled police officer said Mr. Baba-Inna strongly denied the allegation, saying he received no donation from anyone on behalf of his boss.
Outcome Of Police Investigation Immediately the police received the petition from Mrs Buhari, the ADC was arrested on Friday last week and investigation launched.
“The IG said the matter must be investigated immediately and the house of the ADC was raided,” one of our sources said.
“Shockingly, investigators only found N1,200 cash in the House. His bank account was also investigated and had only a balance of N30,000 while the transaction records showed that most credits to the account were his salaries and allowances.”
The police, it was gathered, concluded that Mrs Buhari must have been wrongly informed as there was nothing to show or prove that such huge sums of money was in the custody of Mr Baba-Inna.
An associate of Mr. Baba-Inna said the police contacted those named as donors of the controversial funds but that they all denied making the donations attributed to them.
“For instance, one of those named was the IG of Police himself,” the source said. “But the IG said he has never passed any money through Baba-Inna.”
When Mrs Buhari was informed of the outcome of police investigation, the source said the first lady flared up and accused the police of colluding “to protect one of their own”.
She then reportedly asked the State Security Service (SSS) to take over the case and get her money back”.
SSS Wades In? On the orders of the wife of the president, SSS operatives reportedly took custody of Mr Baba Inna.
However, the spokesperson for the SSS, Peter Afunanya told PREMIUM TIMES he was not aware of Mr Baba-Inna’s arrest by his agency.
“You are just telling me now, I am not aware, but if there is anything like that I will get back to you,” he said.
In the same vein, the spokesperson of the police, Jimoh Moshood, said “I am not aware.”
But Hassana, the wife of Mr Baba-Inna confirmed her husband’s arrest.
She also said she “has not been able to speak with him since he was taken away”.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the wife of the president, Suleiman Haruna, said although he heard about the matter, he was trying to get details from Mrs Buhari, who he said is currently travelling in New York.
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/286275-aisha-buhari-orders-arrest-of-own-adc-alleges-n2-5-billion-fraud.html Aisha Buhari and her so-called donors should be arrested for illegal financial activities instead of the poor ADC. |

FlirtyGist: Dr. Sarah Adenike Morocco-Clarke, Nigeria's first female banker, has died at the age of 80. Born on the 13th of May 1938, the Morocco-Clarke matriarch passed away peacefully on Sunday, 16 September 2018, after a short illness.
Sarah Morocco-Clarke, an alumnus of Queen's College Lagos, Nigeria, started her career with First Bank (then Bank of British West Africa, and subsequently Standard Bank) as a pioneer female employee, rose through the ranks at First Bank Nigeria and was made the Services Manager and Secretary to the South Administration, wherein she had a mandate that covered the services of all the First Bank branches in Southern Nigeria.
While she worked in the banking industry, Sarah Morocco-Clarke was the manager of numerous First Bank branches in Lagos and was subsequently made a Regional Manager in charge of Bendel, Ogun and Oyo states.
She was also an Area Manager in the Western part of Nigeria. Popularly known as the 'Iron Lady' , a moniker seemingly taken from references to the then British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Sarah Morocco-Clarke was given this nickname because of her stern mien and no-nonsense attitude professionally.
The Morocco-Clarke matriarch leaves behind six successful children, thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

LudaChriz: Mr Kassim Afegbua, former Special Adviser on Media to the immediate past Governor of Edo and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has defected with thousands of his supporters to the PDP.
Afegbua, who was also Commissioner for Information in Edo, was received by the party’s Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, at Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
The former aide to Oshiomhole said he took the “bold step” in rejoining his former party, because of infrastructural deficit in his community.
He said that though he served under the APC- led administration in the state for 8 years, he felt dissatisfied, because of the state of roads and lack of development in Okpella community.
Afegbua also lamented the absence of electricity in the community and complained of high inflation and rising costs of commodities across the local markets. He said the APC members were defecting to the PDP on account of poor roads and neglect of the community by the state government. He said that the PDP was sympathetic with flood victims in the locality and blamed the state government for what he termed “slow response” to the problem.
Afebgua said the PDP was aware of donation of relief materials by some Federal Government agencies and appealed against diversion of the items. The spokesman of other defectors, Chief Ekpen Abu, pledged their readiness to work with the party to win the next election in the area and the state in general.
