trillville: Poor education is truly Nigeria's biggest problem.
A former fashion designer turned oil tycoon, is sinking billions of naira on a building no one needs in a country with a minimum wage of about 50 dollars a month and with the highest number of extremely poor people on earth, yet our youths are shouting "is it your money? .
If you suggest that the rich should be taxed to pay for education and healthcare like in other countries, these same illiterate youths who are to benefit from this policy will be the first to complain. I am so confused at the foolishness of my people. You will think everyone is as rich as dangote.
She was never a fashion designer. What was the line of her clothes? This lady was a seamstress who happened to know her ways.
Trizzi: Africa's richest woman Mrs Folorunsho Alakija is set to become the owner of the most expensive building in West Africa, if not Africa. Famfa Towers is currently being built on Alfred Rewane Road in Ikoyi Lagos.
The 22-floor edifice will set the billionaire oil mogul back a whooping N60billion or $165million but at a networth of nearly $3billion, it shouldn't be a problem for the former fashion designer who is said to be financing the project herself with no loans from any bank.
Over N6billion has already been pumped into Famfa Towers as building begins. The one-of-kind Tower will be used for commercial purposes. The last five floors is said to be for Mrs Alakija's personal use, possibly for her office and the rest will be rented out to people who can afford it.
How did this bottom-power get allocation of crude oil well during Babangida's era? Until people like this woman is probed by the so-called EFCC, Nigeria shall remain a shithole and a joke.
Barondenigeria: So Canada too nah colonialist ehn? Everybody be trying so hard to sound smart
I guess with the intellect you displayed, it will not surprise anybody that you cannot recognize a colonialist under your nose. There are always lead actors and supporting casts in any movie.
saaron: Miyetti allah boldness in making this declaration shows that they are backed by buhari's govt.
The military-styled assault on Nigerians which has been wrongly placed at the door step of Fulani herdsmen is actually masterminded by a wing of rogue Nigerian army directed by the cartel on the apex of Nigerian government. How could ordinary body such as Miyetti allah be bold enough to inform the Fulani to converge in a land which remains far from their ancestral homeland?
Ndigbo should look at this radical convergence of Fulani in Benue State as a strategic outcome and not the case only the people of Benue should tackle. Ndigbo should not take this move lightly because it underscores the a long tabled strategy for a quick reactionary response.
Sometimes I wonder if most Nigerians know the meaning of term they use in a sentence. How can Buhari's government which is poorly directed can get lavishing kudos from dumbass Wike for good governance?
African did not start it but embraced it. It was meant to be a weapon and fortunately the dumbass Africans have been suckered into it. Those who started it knew Africans are foolish load of sentimental drunks who would never realize where and when they got boozed up.
Canada's border agency is stepping up efforts to deport failed refugee claimants and other foreign nationals not welcome in this country, setting a goal of dramatically increasing deportation numbers by up to 35 per cent.
Pretense is the hallmark of insincerity. I recall it was the dumbass Canadian prime minister who told the entire world that Canada is open to all immigrants when Donald Trump announced stricter than usual immigration procedure in USA. It is unfortunate that Africans still fall for dopy antics of colonialists such as the Canadian prime minister.
I'm so tribalistic so much that if I see a non Buharist Yoruba drowning and a Buharist from another tribe drowning, I will quickly rescue the Buharist, I will then go and eat eba and okra to get more strength, take paracetamol and sleep for like 6hrs and then quickly rush with immediate alacrity to go and rescue the second man that is drowning....
Bros it is your prerogative to be tribal. Keep it up!!!
It is time Africans had a grip on reality. Africans shamelessly harp on racism, which is a misnomer, that does not exist and rampantly kill each other on a slightest or no provocation. It is really a shame.
The word, racism, is a misnomer. It does not exist. There are no two or more human races on earth therefore it is foolish to talk about racism. The earth has only one race and it is human. The idea of qualifying human being as "Black or White" is a display of stark idiocy. Color cannot be human being but an object. It is unfortunate that Africans, as usual, have fallen into this idiotic shenanigan of describing humans with hue.
nditah: I strongly believe it is fair to pay people according to their contribution. Can they imagine the hurdles you scaled through to get the skillset?
You should have refused the invitation at the initial stage. The term discrimination is an overstated word. No human being can be termed as a discriminant or discriminator therefore the right to preference has been misconstrued.
In 1998,Volkswagen and BMW had a bidding war to buy the Rolls-Royce Motors when the owner , Vickers (also the owner of Bentley) , decided to sell the luxury brand.
The most likely buyer was BMW, which already supplied engines and other components for Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars.
BMW had the deal almost wrapped up with a final offer of £340 million before Volkswagen came in at the last minute with £430 million to win the deal for both brands.
But this didn’t mean that Volkswagen Group ( that currently sell passenger cars under the Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen models ) owned everything about the Rolls-Royce brand.
Volkswagen only bought the Rolls-Royce designs, nameplates, administrative headquarters, production facilities, Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grille shape trademarks .They didn’t buy the right to use the Rolls-Royce name or logo which belongs to Rolls-Royce plc.
Rolls-Royce plc, the aeroplane-engine maker, preferred BMW and for only to £40 million,it licensed the Rolls-Royce brand name and logo to BMW AG (the better part of the deal)
BMW also threatened to cut off engine supplies within a year ( which was part of their initial agreement ), a move that frightened customers and cut orders by 30 percent .
This means that Volkswagen won't be able to build new Engines that will power the Rolls-Royce vehicles within that time frame.
Also, BMW will continue supplying engines and components to Volkswagen's branded Rolls-Royce until the end of 2002, after which they will acquire the rights to the Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grill shape trademarks from Volkswagen AG.
The time will also allow BMW to build a new Rolls-Royce administrative headquarters and production facility.
From January 1st 2003,BMW-owned Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited became the exclusive maker of Rolls-Royce branded cars, with the Rolls-Royce Phantom becoming the first luxury car offered for sale .
Volkswagen also became the sole provider of luxury Bentley car brands.
The above complex arrangement would not have happened if Africans were behind or on the process. It would have resulted in the destruction of the automakers. A bank which is indebted to an auto producer and the silly Nigerian government are hell bent to destroy INNSON.
Babacele: Keyamo has fought more and stronger battles in his life and has won almost all. If he isn't good ,he couldn't have. Chima has said nothing but a poorly crafted package of lies which I'm sure a veteran like Festus would tear to pieces in law courts if he chooses to dignify his defamer with a response ,and he may subsequently consequently make Chima sorry for his poor hatchet job.
You want to take on Keyamo too? what is stopping you? Go ahead and get injured Jo.
Keyamo or what name he calls himself would not want to tangle with a determined Igbo man.
It is beyond the intellect of human to predict tomorrow. Therefore you looked silly already in an attempt to play God. What does Ojukwu’s simplistic statement of yesteryears got to do with me? Ojukwu and I do not have the same stream of thought.
MeanChris: President Buhari with a sense of pride and integrity has presented his WAEC Certificate as provided him by the board of education, Nigerian Army. Feel free to tell your neighbours and yard people
0monnak0da: Cease to exist by doing tumbotumbo or saying abracadabra? Ojukwu said worse finally he fled. Nnamdi Kanu is now in Galilee or is it Nazareth?
You will embrace "tumbotumbo or abracadabra" when one bottle is left standing on the wall. I do not believe that vicious circles end in one or two rounds.
Abagworo: OKOROCHA has been under undue attack by a gang up of Igbo political leaders in all political parties simply because they know he's the only one trusted enough by other Nigerians as detribalized and nationally acceptable to become President. All the other stories are made up to justify the gang up but in the end Igbos have little voting strength to influence an all Igbo presidential race in which Okorocha is involved.
Nigerians and their funny stream of thought. If a Nigerian suddenly detribalizes, he or she becomes nobody.
Abagworo: Oguta LGA is very large in landmass about 1/3rd the size of Lagos but Oguta Ameshi is a developed town inside the LGA and there are also other towns. Oguta is a residential town inhabited mostly by natives and is like GRA of most major cities. I will do a video of the streets
I am very much for Oguta but will not buy anything advertised by Abagworo. . Oguta lake environ is the site being targeted.
rusher14: Maybe there is hunger in your household.
Buhari would win every single state in South West, North West, North East, Half of South South and 30% in South East. North central of the likes of PDP sponsored herdsmen would be divided.
This idiotic and wishful stream of thought can only hold fort if the corruptible INEC plays the rig game. If such nonsense ever contemplated, Nigeria should cease to exist.
Kanixt: Buhari’s Reelection Suffers Massive Setback As Obasanjo Begs Powerful APC Governor To Dump Party dailyadvent.com Oct 27, 2018 8:54 AM
President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection has suffered massive set back as a powerful influential governor from the South West has perfected plans to dump the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
The governor is said to be at logger heads with the party leadership over injustcice meted to him and his loyalist in the recently concluded state primaries.
But media reports have indicated how president Buhari has gone to great length to prevent the powerful governor from dumping the APC.
All efforts to get the governor to have a change of heart were rebuffed until Buhari personally dangled Governor Ibikunle Amosun with three senatorial slots and the right to bring in one member for the House of Representatives.
Subsequently, Amosun’s name and two other loyalist have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s senatorial candidates in the 2019 election.
The state chapter of the party had been enmeshed in internal crisis following the governorship primary that produced Mr. Dapo Abiodun as the candidate of the party, against the preferred choice of the governor, Adekunle Akinlade, who had been chosen as the party’s consensus candidate before the primary.
But, after the primary, conducted by the electoral committee from the National Working Committee, in which his candidate lost, the governor had protested against the outcome of the election as he lashed out at the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and a former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba, for maintaining “deafening silence” on the matter.
The governor had also visited President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo about four times in three weeks over the crisis.
He had also dismissed rumours that he was planning to leave the party, while insisting that he would hand over to Akinlade as against the winner of the primary.
But in a bid to end the crisis, the party gave the governor the senatorial slots and the Rep position.
Already, the names on the provisional list of the National Assembly candidates for Ogun State released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday showed that Amosun got the ticket for the Ogun Central seat, thus displacing the incumbent, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso, who had expressed his intention to go for a second term. And for the two other senatorial seats in Ogun East and Ogun West, the names of Senator Lekan Mustapha and Chief Tolu Odebiyi were on the list respectively.
Meanwhile, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was said to have visited Amosun on Friday morning in his office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
Sources told our correspondent that the former President arrived the office some few minutes before 10am to convince the governor to dump Buhari and join the moving train.
As it stands, Amosun is at Crossroads as to who to support in 2019. Although the governor is very close to Buhari, sources say, he has tremendous respect for Obasanjo and will never go against his wish.
Recall, that in 2007, Amosun stepped down for Obasanjo’s daughter, Iyabo to replace him at the National Assembly.
Obasanjo is supporting his former VP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who needs massive votes from the South West to defeat the incumbent in the upcoming election.
The above posted crap is a planed daydream of the turncoats. If you believe this nonsense, you can believe anything.
0monnak0da: We haven't forgotten how Stella Oduah made it her mission in life to sack every Yoruba in the aviation ministry and all the other shenanigans when they thought they were in charge under GEJ We all know their commitment to the violent realisation of Biafra and rabid hatred for anything Yoruba. Who is it that leaves his child nak.ed and puts beads on another person's child? Ododi!
You are a downcast learner. Yari.ba have not voted for Igbo candidate on presidential level and will not begin to learn how to vote for Igbo candidate now. You and ilk in Yari.ba land can shove your stinking votes to your asses. If you are cowered to think about Oduduwa Republic, Ndigbo have no fear in pursuit of Republic of Igboland or even Biafra.
Those who are against the call to disintegrate the shithole called Nigeria are born again evils. Nigeria will never see sustainable progress until the shithole is disintegrated.
Nigeria is not suitable for progressive ventures. The crap in Nigeria called Taxify should be tightly regulated beyond the imagination of most dumbass Nigerians.
faceURfront: This isn't good. I am very critical of the fulani herdsmen but I have to condemn this development in all its entirety. This is jungle justice and absolutely unacceptable. This is wicked!
It could be an act of Fulani herdsman against another. The strings of act wanton destruction of lives and properties in Nigeria have been carried out by Fulani herdsmen supported by a section of Nigerian army. A crippled man cannot even wear a military camouflage in southern Nigeria without being harshly disposed by the military gangs. In the northern region of Nigeria, gangs are not only allowed to wear the camouflage but also carry AK-47 openly and arrogantly.
tochukwuifediba: NORTHERN Youth Leaders Forum, NYLF, has cautioned South-East leaders to stop using youths who are not even northerners to fight their brother.
They were reacting to the statement credited to one Comrade Elliot Afiyo on behalf of Northern youths. The statement called for the Presidential flag-bearer of the PDP to look for another running mate that would be acceptable to them, saying that they would not support the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi for being anti North.
A statement signed by the President of the group, Comrade Bajudu Joseph Mamman, its Secretary, Comrade Garba Ubala and representatives from other states in the North, denied Elliot Afiyo being their member and said that his name is not an Hausa name .
The statement from the group read: “Our attention has been drawn to a protest visit to His Excellency, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR at Abeokuta by a youth group impersonating the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, against the nomination of Obi, CON, as the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Ordinarily, we would wave off this impersonation as part of political intrigues we are aware of, but to mislead the nation by misleading a former president is unacceptable to us, therefore we cannot keep quiet while our organisation is all over the media for the wrong reasons caused by people unknown to us.”
The group recalled how, on the 13th of October, 2018, some people who turned out to be Igbo leaders invited them to Fajumali Hotel and Resort at No. 7 Mayere Road, Barnawa, Kaduna and offered them N10 million to publish that northern youths rejected Mr. Peter Obi as the vice presidential candidate. They said it was their refusal, which was widely published on social media that led to the declaration of using a fake name.
Are these goofy punks suggesting one has to be Hausa or bear Hausa name to be a member of NORTHERN Youth Leaders Forum, NYLF? Nigeria is clearly the basket of fools.
mrakeli62: United Nations Children Education Fund, UNICEF, has said 69 percent of children without access to basic education in Nigeria were from the northern partof the country. UNICEF Education Specialist, Azuka Menkiti, who stated this while speaking at a two-day media dialogue in Kano yesterday, attributed the development to some obsolete cultural practices and religious misinterpretations in the region. According to him, the obsolete cultural practices and religious misinterpretations are also responsible for increased poverty in northern Nigeria.
Menkiti also noted that 69 percent of children without access to education in Nigeria were found in streets of northern Nigeria, with North East states leading and North West states trailing behind. To this end,UNICEF charged political, traditional and community leaders in the region to put more effort to change the statistics as regards number of children without education She said: “Few weeks ago, we held an education conference in Kaduna and it impressed traditional, community and religious leaders. “Stakeholders that participated in the meeting signed a commitment to join forces with government and global partners to pull children out of the streets and return them to school so as to secure a peaceful and productive posterity. “We don’t insist on formal education. It could be Koranic education. But it will be more profitable if they combined both Koranic and formal education. Records indicated that about 9.5 million school age children in Nigeria are currently enrolled Koranic schools across Nigeria but only 24 percent of them combine both formal and Koranic education.” Recall that the Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Commission ,UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, recently disclosed that the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria had increased from the 10.5 million it stood before to 13.2 million.
The increase in the figure ,he said, could be attributable to increased attacks and destruction of educational facilities in communities in some North East states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe. Speaking also at the event, Head of Child Right Information Bureau,CRIB, in the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Olumide Osayinpeju, said the essence of the media dialogue was to draw attention to implications of uneducated posterity. “Evidence exists that increased investment in education and protection of the vulnerable citizens, in this case children, and addressing inequality would ensure sustained growth and stability in Nigeria. “We heed to integrate children, especially those in difficult terrain and other excluded children and ensure equitable distribution of education resources,”she said.
And so what? Who gives a ratass if 100 percent of children without access to basic western education is from northern region of Nigeria? This dumbass UNICEF should elaborate on what basic education it is all about. The children from the northern region of Nigeria receive Arabic education and were taught to beg.
