At the end Ijaws will get what they want and the foolish Igbos will go back with nothing pointing accusing fingers at everybody except, themselves. The Hausas and Yorubas are leading Nigeria now and even the Ijaws are showing deep maturity about how they carry themselves. Very soon, the Igbos will loose their position to the Ijaws and the political lexicon will start to only recognize Hausa Yoruba and Ijaws leaving the foolish Igbos to battle for position with other minority tribes. I pray my Igbo brothers wakes up before it is too late. I guess a dumbass such as you forgot it was not long ago the Ndiigbo were in civil war with Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, northern region and majority of people from southern Nigeria. There is oil in other states like Anambra ,Imo and even oil was discovered in Sokoto. Is it only the oil in the Nigerdelta that is good for stealing?Meanwhile oil is not the only source of income for Nigeria. Oil constitutes about sixty percent of Nigerias revenue so let nobody come here and spew thrash. Was Jonathan stealing for Ijaw people? How many Ijaw families and communities did he share the money with? If he was stealing what belongs to Ijaw people how come his Ijaw people are not defending him? WHY ARE IGBOS CRYING MORE THAN THE BEREAVED.? Why are Nigerians so slavishly pander to crude oil? What has accusation of somebody for stealing something that is partly or wholly belongs to him or her got to do with crude oil? I have accused most Nigerians of lacking in critical thought process and the above post did not help matters either. Again, has Jonathan Goodluck ever told you he is Ijo, Ibibio, Ananng, Ogoni or Igbo? If by association that Jonathan remotely hailed from Ekpeye, your reckless suggestion of Ijo could be in jeopardy. Question remains why are Igbo leaders falling over themselves to defend Jonadunce? The Ijaw are keeping silent. I am very ashamed to admit that the Ijaws are acting by far more matured that my brothers from south east. At the end, the Ijaws will still gain more from Buhari's administration than the extremely immature and childish Igbos. Look at the issue of government appointments. While the South south kept quiet, the Igbo clowns keep screaming to high heavens, telling all and sundry that Buhari hates them at the end the South south got a service chief, while the tantrum throwing extremely childish south east got nothing till now. It is a lesson folks. Childish rants will get the south east nowhere apart from opprobrium and being viewed with disdain by other tribes. A word is enough for the wise. Per the bolded, most Nigerians lacked critical thought process. Which Igbo culture says that someone stole what partially or wholly belongs to the person? |

mcvaeey: I'm not an igbo hater as many people assume. But let the truth be told today, igbos only want south south due to economic gains and nothing else. The South south region is the geopolitical zone in Nigeria and if each south south state where to be a country of its own, it would be one of the richest countries in Africa. Besides Lagos, no other state in Nigeria is richer than any south south state. They all have crude oil in commercial quantities and also access to international waters.
This is the main reason why the igbos are trying to cajole them into demonic union. They igbos always say that south south is not a tribe but an evil manipulation of the north. They say the northerners created the south south in order to divide and rule and call the yorubas all manners of names. The question I want to ask the igbos today are;
Are the people of south south complaining?
Have the people asked them to champion their cause in any way?
Why are they crying more than the bereaved over Gej's loss?
The igbos don't mean well for us. They only want our resources and want to marginalise us. Can a non igbo person hold a position in igboland? Can a non igbo person be sold land to in any part of igboland?
Why then does any sane person think that igbos have genuine intention for us?
Let's assume that biafra is achieved today and the south south joins them in biafra, what will be their contribution to the economy of biafra? What will they bring to the table?
The answer is nothing and the only thing they'll bring to the table is their population. Our history would be wiped out in 10 years if we join them cos they'll igbonise all of us.
An average igbo man is greedy, deceitful and can never be trusted. You are one of the moronic idi.ots that have free access to the air. Again, there shall be no south-south if Republic of Igbo land or even Biafra is actualized. I do not see anything in the so-called south-south that Ndigbo would want, not even the migrant dumbass workers. laudate: A user made an allegation against the OP, and you believe the user is right??! Do you know how many allegations, accusations and counter accusations are made against people, groups and ethnicities on nairaland, on a daily basis??! Are they all correct? Or are they even justified?
Everyone has a username here. Someone just said there is nothing like South-South region. That his own opinion. There are others that claim there is a South-South region, and it comprises the entire Niger-Delta. Again, that is another viewpoint.
I cannot foist a particular identity on anyone. If a person who is from Ilaje in the Niger-Delta for example, comes in here to say he is from the South-South, who am I to claim that he is not?? Ilaje people speak a dialect of Yoruba mixed with Ijaw, and they bear Yoruba names. Their land is part and parcel of the Niger-Delta, which some scholars believe is a part of the South-South region. I am not in a position to accept or dispute that fact. It doesn't matter to me, one way or the other.
I have seen people bear totally English names like Desmond Elliot, yet they are Yoruba people. I have seen others bear names like George Henshaw, Alfred Cookey etc, yet they are Calabar or even Kalabari people. Would I now argue that on the basis of their names, they should actually be classified as foreigners or Englishmen, because their names are British? Would I say because their names are foreign, they should refrain from passing comments on things that affect their Nigerian locality?
My point is this: does a person's identity, detract from the message he is trying to convey?? Does his viewpoint make factual sense? If it does not, why?If a man tells me my clothes are torn, will I ask him what tribe he comes from, first or will I examine the outfit to check if what he is saying, is true?
My grouse is that too many folks on this forum preach hate. They launch insults, invectives, and venomous attacks against people whose messages or comments do not fit their own mindset. And they insult not just the person who disagrees with them, but his family, parentage, ethnicity and background.
If a person disagrees with you, must you drag his family and his ethnic group in the mud??
Why not debate issues clearly and logically, with courtesy using verifiable facts, figures and data??!
Must your viewpoint be the only acceptable one? Must you always decide for others what they should think and how they should think? I believe that one single person does not possess the entire repository of knowledge in the universe. So let the other side be heard, without bias or prejudice. Chikena!
When I first joined NL, I prefered to be a peacemaker. I sat on the fence. I was more interested in learning and exchanging ideas. But then I discovered that my pacifist posture was an excuse for people to launch ad hominem attacks in my direction, so I decided to speak out.
I will never draw first blood, but if you persist in persistently disturbing my peace with foul language, then I will retaliate in the strongest terms. Peace. Ignorance of the law cannot absolve an offender from the punishment. The society has a way to punish trolls. If you think a public arena is place where you can fool around without somebody dressing you down, then you are more goofy than I thought. |

maestroferddi: Nigeria undoubtedly is a great nation. Her endowment in material resources is among the greatest in Africa nay the world.
Most Nigerians are wont to deem themselves smart and intelligent. The attitude of Nigerians in the company of nationals from other nations lends credence to this.
However, a cursory look at the conduct, idiosyncrasies and mannerisms of the generality of Nigerians puts the above supposition into serious question.
Take for instance the followership in Nigeria. The default word out there is that the woes of the country are amenable to the political leadership. Well, nothing can't be more simplistic.
What happened to the aphorism that a people get the kind of leadership/government they deserve? To what extend has the followership demonstrated a predilection to learn from history?
Too little.
Some of us still remember vividly the Babangida and Abacha days. While each man was helping himself to a huge chunk of the national wealth, Nigerians were busy singing their praises to high heavens. At the end of the day, we began to shut the barn door after the horse had bolted.
Enter the wily Owu chief. Nigerians saw in Obasanjo an amalgam of Aladdin and Ali Baba in received wisdom. And boy were we enthralled?! We stood mouth agape with consternation and wonderment as the big masquerade strutted his stuff across the stage. We were held spellbound to mystique of the juggernaut. When we woke up from our reverie, we were faced with the rubbles of Odi and Zaki Biam. We also discovered to our chagrin that tens of billions of dollars supposedly voted into changing the fortunes of our seemingly intractable power challenges had defied accountability.
How our about "Goodluck"? He came with the unbeatable resume: a PHD, deputy this, acting that, then president. To put an icing on the cake, he was born with no shoes. We were flabbergasted. We sang his eulogies. He was our "Goodluck" and as such beyond reproach. Then the standards started nosediving. Corruption and executive recklessness became normative. The ship of state started running on auto-pilot.
Now we have Buhari. Our man of impeccability. We even dub him infallible. We are throwing ourselves at him, body, soul and spirit. We have concluded that he is not a mortal and as such does not have the foibles of a mere a man. Our quintessential Buhari has such a stardust that we have concluded to acquiesced that our national life should stagnate provided that it satisfies the whims and caprices of our messianic superman. And we are keen to do more.
Still smart? Per the bolded, Nigeria is not a great nation, not even a starter. As for being smart, it depends on the essence of human endeavor. In terms of sustained economic productivity, Nigerians are not smart. |
