I rather die like Ojukwu and buried with full military honors mounted by senior officers of Nigerian armed forces than a tribal icon named Awolowo who died abominable death via ingested rat poison and buried like a rat. Nobody sells out on a plate of Akamu (ogi) and expects an honorable burial. What led to Awo’s shameful demise patiently awaits a drooling rapscallion such as you, olodo. |

Not up to a month after running to Abidjan, he took another beautiful maiden as wife. After the war, he had all his properties returned to him, while million of those that fought on the front line lost their properties tagged "Abandoned property". He had a befitting military burial when he died but the only memory of those that fought in front line are those gory pictures of starving innocent children. You are right about the best of your knowledge. It is equal to that of an imbecilic goon. |

dearpreye: Whoever says slavery has been abolished should have a rethink. Slavery is still real, alive and kicking. As energy cannot be destroyed but can be transformed from one form to the other, so is slavery. It the past it used to be in the form of transatlantic slavery trade, later it transformed into colonialism, later to neo-colonialism, and then to internal colonialism. Of all these forms, the last form seems the worst to me. In the internal, you're hardly aware of it because of its subtlety and legalism.
God knows I don't have the mentality of the average South South person. I'm yet to see a people so engrossed in today's crumbs that they become totally dumb and numb to the challenges and joys of tomorrow. I'm yet to see a people so happy in backwardness and poverty. They will never read history. Even when they do, its just to fulfill some academic purpose. They will never learn. They will never see the bigger picture. They are almost always at the mercies of their parasites. SMH! Mental slavery is terrible. Any man who lives without tomorrow in mind is dead, buried and sealed , while yet he lives.
Nonso Okey Okpala
For those vomiting thrash, Slavery of the mind is very bad. In 1967 the Hausa Fulanis told some disgrutled Ikwerres, Kalabaris, Efiks, Anangs, Ibibios, izon, and Okirikans that the Igbos were interested in their oil. They foolishly accepted and joined the enemy in bed. After the war the truth of those really interested in oil emerged. The Hausa Fulanis and Yorubas killed Adaka Bolo before he could demand for his region. They quickly shared the oil well and destroyed the land. Unfortunately the indigenes were helpless because they fought against their brothers. The Ogonis were raped by Col. Oguntimo led forces. Saro Wiwa was killed by the Hausas. Yet the young men remained ignorant and hopless. How many of those people were killed by Igbos.
The SS are the most hopless set of people in the whole world. An adage says that when people unirate together it will foam. It is also good to chase away the fox and then ask the mother hen what she was looking for in the bush. Anytime the SE and SS attempt to come together, the fifth columnist will appear.
Is there any where indigenously called the NIGER DELTA? What is the name of the people living in the area called Niger delta? Niger delta is an area not a people. You are either Ijaw, Igbo, Urohbo, Okirika, Kalabari, Itshekiri, Anioma, Ikwerre, Etche etc. All these area were originally called BIAFRA and this is contained in the document singned by the British during trade before colonialism.
We are very unwise. Anambra state pays more wages to civil servants than Delta State, Rivers State, Bayelsa State, Akwa ibom state. And you are talking of oil. Which oil? Rubbish. People are building cars, manufacturing and making billion. See you see America, see France, see Britain.
Your land is laid waste and you are talking our oil. Wake up. Ibibio, Annang and Ikwerre never bought the crap the Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri and the rest of northern sold before and during the civil war. Even most Ogoni, Okirika and Kalabari peeps equally did not take the bait. However, it could be difference case since after the civil war. |

atbu1983: Biafra Occupation of Midwest (The crime of Biafra Soldiers in today south south) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midwest_Invasion_of_1967
On August 17 Governor Okonkwo installed a dusk to dawn curfew in which only citizens with passes would be allowed to move freely at night. Non-Igbo citizens, especially the Hausa community, were subject to harassment from Biafran soldiers while women were often molested and sometimes raped, this in retaliation for the 1966 anti-Igbo pogrom. Resistance groups began springing up constantly consisting of mainly ethnic Urhobos and Ijaws. Because of a series of uprisings against the occupying Biafrans in Benin City, General Okonkwo began raising a force of loyal native inhabitants to combat the rebels. By August 18 Okonkwo had assembled a force of 780 reliable volunteers to keep natives from attacking or killing Biafran soldiers. Loyal inhabitants donated whatever weaponry they has to the Biafrans, which consisted mainly of single-shot rifles and double-barreled shotguns.
Cooks began poisoning Biafran soldiers whenever they had the chance to and it was because of this that Biafran soldiers began only eating food that was cooked by ethnic Igbos or self-cooked. Rebellious natives who did not wish to fight would often seduce Biafran soldiers to get information out of them and tell Nigerian authorities. On August 20 a group of Urhobo/Ijaw rebels raided a Biafran camp and were successful in killing 50 soldiers while 16 rebels were killed in the skirmish. Due to these rebellions Biafran soldiers began raiding and pillaging villages throughout both the Mid-Western Region and Niger Delta inhabited by anyone other than Igbo civilians. The Biafran government began broadcasting Biafran propaganda in the region while the Nigerian government broadcast anti-Biafran propaganda as well.
On September 19 President Ojukwu declared Governor Okonkwo President of the Biafran puppet-state, the Republic of Benin, in an attempt to make citizens of the Mid-Western Region loyal to a government other than Nigeria. By posting above crap to the credit of your forum handle, I declare you do not deserve to contribute anything to this forum. I do not think you ever think for your dumbass self. By the way, what is your bloody reason for posting this idiotic crap? Gowon, Yoruba, Ejoor and the people Midwastern region allowed Nigeria to use Midwestern region as launching pad against eastern region. |

ahkenaten: OGUN Kiriji. The World’s Longest Civil War by any Ethnic Group (1877-1893).
The Kiriji War, an epic battle fought by the Yoruba for 16 years, is believed to be the World’s Longest Civil War by any ethnic group. The war, according to historians, was the fiercest tribal war among the Yoruba ethnic group of Southwest Nigeria and the Kiriji War, which ended almost 122 years ago led to the signing of a Peace Treaty on September 23, 1886..
How the War Started:
* Ibadan, a relatively new establishment that had the honour of filling the oversized shoes of the former Oyo Empire as the protector of the Yoruba nation against external attacks. But the military successes and wealth raked in by Ibadan in its military expeditions soon posed serious challenges.
* Like all global super-powers, Ibadan was said to embark on an expansionist programme that extended its reach to much of Yorubaland. It started appointing District Officers known as ‘Ajeles’ to rule the conquered territories on its behalf.
* It did not take long for the ‘Ajeles’ to transform into despots. They became corrupt and power-drunk, demanding ridiculous homage and exorbitant tributes.
* The Yoruba vassal states of Ijesha and Ekiti revolted and massacred the Ibadan-appointed ‘Ajeles’.
* They formed a confederacy called Ekiti Parapo (Ekiti Brotherhood) and declared their independence from Ibadan.
* Ibadan knew the dire consequences of allowing such action to go unpunished as it would encourage other conquered territories to declare independence.
* Ibadan wanted a centralized political system, with a central economy, a command military structure, a central administration and a forcefully united Yoruba Nation, while the other Yoruba subgroups wanted a decentralized structure, where all the federating units would be autonomous and would be able to plan their political future based on their own heritage.
* This led to the epic Yoruba war called the Kiriji War in 1877 when the Ibadan police, navy, infantry and artillery soldiers, led by ‘General’ Obadoke Latoosa invaded the entire commonwealth of Yoruba nation, pummeled the sacred institutions, raided the markets and the deepest hinterlands and sought to proclaim a forcefully united Yoruba nation.
* Kiriji war is the longest civil war by any ethnic group (1877 -1893) lasting 16years.The Major Actors and Causalities:
* Ibadan was led by its commander-in-chief, Aare Obadoke Latosa, while the Ekiti Parapo army was led by Fabunmi of Oke-Imesi.
* The Ibadan army pitched their camp at Igbajo while the Ekiti Parapo camped at Imesi-Ile.
* Somewhere along the line, Saraibi Ogedengbe (famously known as Ogedengbe Agbogungboro), the Balogun of Ijeshaland, became the General/Commander-in-Chiefof the Ekiti Parapo army, and the appointment greatly influenced the turn of events, as Ogedengbe was a renowned military strategist.
* The war got its name (Kiriji) from the thunderous sound “kiriiiiiiiiji”of the cannon guns which the Ekitiparapo purchased in large numbers. The cannon gave them an advantage over the Ibadans.* Ekiti Parapo enlisted several Yoruba tribes like Igbomina, Akoko, Egbe, Kabba and the Oworro (a Yoruba sub-tribe in Lokoja, Kogi State).
* Lagos, Ijebu and Egba were said to have assisted Ekiti Parapo against Ibadan, seen by all, as a common threat to the Yoruba commonwealth.
* Ilara Mokin in Ondo State was said to have been the headquarters of the Ekiti Parapo secret service.
* Several Yoruba towns, such as Osogun and Ijaiye, were wiped out in the course of the war. Igbajo barely escaped total destruction.* Eventually, Ibadan found itself fighting on five fronts. First, in the South against theEgba who confined their activities to raids and surprise attacks; secondly, against the Ijebu, in the same south, who pitched a camp against them at Oru under Balogun Onafowokan; thirdly, the main war at Kiriji in the East, where their forces fought a long battle against the Ekiti and Ijesa (Ekiti-Parapo forces) under the command of Ogedengbe; fourthly, at Offa in the north, where they faced the Ilorin Fulani who pitched their camp against the people of Offa (an ally of Ibadan); and finally at Ile-Ife where the Ife people joined the alliance against them in 1882.
* However, in spite of Ibadan's disadvantages in the war, these five forces could not effect its defeat. A state of stalemate was reached, from which only the intervention of an outside force could redeem the whole Yoruba Nation. Point of correction, the Kiriji War was the longest wrestling match over cocoa yam tubers in any tribal engagement. |

LastProphet: I wish I had enough time I would have taken my time to write you a worthy reply since you sound educated at least. now first off I am not Ibo, hausa or yoruba and have no desire to be any so listen very well:
1) Nigeria did not start the war, Ibos started it. Kaduna Nzeogu did a coup and killed all other regional leaders except his own - Okpara, who was assisted to escape by other igbo officers. The same Nzeogu was the one that slaughtered Ahmadu Bello right in his palace in front of his family adnNO SINGLE HAUSA RAISED A VOICE. it took more than 3 GOOD GOOD WEEKS before Hausas and other tribes began to give the Nzeogu coup a tribal interpretation. Killing Ahmadu is equivalent to killing the Ooni of Ife, Oba of Lagos and Alafin of Oyo together and YET YOU REMAIN UNHARMED FOR WEEKS FOLLOWING THAT. Can anybody try that with any tribe and just get away? It is only Ibos in their natural sense of arrogance that can do such a thing and assume you cant do anything and that was what they paid for.
2) Please this is also documented - Ibos were warned severally both by word of mouth and radio many many weeks before the fighting broke out in the north to leave, any Ibo that denies this must be flogged on his brain. Kaduna radio was used to annouce many many times to Ibos to leave and that they were no longer welcomed YET THE IBOS REMAINED and to make matters worse they even started to ridicule the late Ahmadu Bello, IT IS DOCUMENTED that many Ibo traders started selling caricature photos of the late emir entering hell fire at markets and public places. If you were hausa and you got to market you will be shown the calendar-like paper as the Ibos mocked everyone. This was what led to the unfortunate 'araba' massacre which started in kaduna where my family grew up at the time
3) The single cause of the massacre of Ibos was ARROGANCE OF THE IBOS. If you hear that south Africans want to kill nigerians go there and ask and you will be told by south africans themselves that their problem are Ibos. It is exactly the same thing in Kenya, Ghana, Malaysia, India etc. anywhere you hear nigerians are hated it is because of Ibos, so are south africans also working with hausas? Or Kenyans? only a deluded soul will still continue to blame others and refuse to look inwards.
4) Ibos have a serious problem and it starts with their culture and they need to fix it. you cannot be hated everywhere and it is the fault of others.
5) And lastly it will shock you to know what perentage of nigerians want the Ibos to go peacefully - you will be shocked! But trust our clueless leaders with their slow thinking - nobody wants to be labelled the one that allowed nigeria to divide as if remaining one collosal wasteful entity is an achievement by the way.
6) And to any Ibo listening, I pray you will get your country as fast as possible but mark my words, you will run out of that biafra faster than rocket in less than 2 years of establishing it. I have worked in 3 Ibo states and I have never seen where people of the same tribe hate each other like Ibos except maybe (Edo people) and am waiting for the day Ibos will be at the mercy of other Ibos then we shall see what hell Biafra will become. My only plea to the govt will be that Ibos must not be accepted back no matter how they cry.
NB: However nothing justifies massacre and many hausas are morooons as expected especially the alamjiri ad their day is coming if they dont change their ways. Bokoharam punishment is a startig point for them The above crap can only be a product of Nigerian thought process. It never occurred to me or any other reasonable fellow that a coup precipitated by members of Nigerian armed forces will degenerate into civil war. One wonders if Nigerian soldiers came from various nationalities. Can the poster of the above junk tell us why many coups after the civil war did not lead to civil war? Since you sounded like a political minnow, you should realize that coup plotters do not set out to kill as equal number of political operatives from equal number of ethnic groups. Only tribal irredentists such as you have a knack for such foolish stream of thought. May I ask you who warned eastern region of Nigeria about the impending perils of civil war? Have any Nigerian engaged in civil war besides peace-keeping duty in Congo? It is shame that most dumbass Nigerians do not know when to keep their putrid mouth shut. |

nutarious: My Mum is igbo, Dad Yoruba. Married Yoruba.
. . Have read pages to pages hoping someone will tell answer this great Question. Since no one answered I will ask. This is directed to all IGBOs reading this......
1= During the last war, Ojukwu calculated the South South as Biafrans, the wealth in South South triples that of the East.
Now my questions are since it's very obvious Niger delta won't be part of this Biafrans Emancipation, how do Biafrans survive, what resources do they have to take them to places? Where would the finances comes from, Pls I need urgent answers to anybody still dreaming Biafra?
My Opinion, I really do think the IGBOs are the problem of themselves, we tend to believe in another man been our problem. How many Hausa or yoruba do we see in our states, we are not accommodating, yet we go to their state and they accommodate us, after we ate settled we start fighting the host for what is theirs and this has been the problem we have in settling down in this Nigerian Marriage.
People say Hausas hated igbo, but from well proven research we were loved and allowd in the north and there was no problem until we did same, went against the host. It gave birth to the first civil war, even if we eventually go our character won't alow us organize.
Most of us IGBOs are Hypocrites! Big one, most of the richest sons of Igbo soil made their money outside southeast, yet we never developed our states and won't allow foreigners help us develop it. Who do we really blame for this our predicament?
Politically? We scored zero, selfish and self centerd. Even in opposition, the yorubas have 4state in opposition and maintained it till they had the centre, they mix, sacrifice and brought other tribes to form a giant party. What did we do when Rochas joined, we almost brought him down.
Can we maintain democracy in Biafra? Who is our leader? YORUBA =AWO, BOLA IGE, AJASIN, Tinubu They never saw obj has their leader. Aside Ojukwu who became leader cos of Emancipation, we don't have rwflective leaders. We have to solve our problems. problems before all this chest beating.
Is Biafra now worth it assuming the Nigerdeltans will be with us is a dift thing, we can't survive alone.
South South got to presidency for they romance all other tribes, it would surprise u that in the first election of GEJ, there were many Hausas who loved him and voted for him, only for our Eastern brothers to lead him astray.
.
War is Never the answer. Per the bolded, you sounded very uneducated. There was nothing such as the nonsensical south-south before or during Nigeria/Biafra war. Besides the wrestling matches called Kiriji, have Yari.ba ever fought a modern war? How could you pull list of jackasses from your anus and attempt to compare them with a person or persons who have led their people in serious battle fields? |

dayo23: The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Shehu Sani, on Tuesday, distributed Army Recruitment Forms and PIN Codes to 190 youths in the seven Local Government Areas of his zone. While handing over the forms and personally filling out the PIN Codes from a computer to beneficiaries at the Conference Centre of the National Teachers Institute, NTI, in Kaduna, Mr. Sani said the exercise is a gesture to help unemployed youths from poor families with the forms PIN Code in order to become useful to the society and to directly contribute in bringing lasting peace and security in the country. He said: “20 forms will be distributed to youths from each of the seven LGAs namely: Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun, Igabi, Giwa and Birnin Gwari, while 50 others will be distributed to other parts of the state.” He expressed his concern that in the past, youths especially from his zone could not make tangible contribution against current security challenges in the country, because they have missed recruitment opportunities in Nigerian Custom Service, Police, Nigerian Army, Immigration, NSCDC, Nigerian Prisons Service. “I have made it a priority that young men and women from my zone will never miss any opportunity of recruitment into any institution and organizations anymore. “So long as I am on this seat, no insect or idol can prevent you from achieving your goals of becoming useful to the society. “As a senator, I am in Abuja for you, I will always do whatever I can for you to have a future that Nigeria will be proud of. This is not a political gathering, but I have also provided transport and feeding for the candidates,” he told beneficiaries. He advised politicians especially in the north to emulate their counterparts in the south by assisting youths instead of giving then handouts. One of the beneficiaries, Sani Shehu, from Birnin Gwari LGA, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the Senator for the good gesture and promised to be useful to the society.
