I think they have only switched it on in Lagos. OP, how long have you had this particular etisalat sim? |

Xionez: Lol. You read about the N900 "transfer" fee someone paid abi? MTN categorizes sim cards. Those on standard would have to pay for swapping. Those on Platinum wouldn't need to pay. The easiest way of finding out what category your sim is on, just call customer care. If they pick your call within a few seconds, that means it's on Platinum. But if they don't pick, that means it's on Standard. |

Rex123: Read my post again! I didn't say the phones are cdma, I said the network is! Verizon phone are locked to CDMA! The phone has to unlock to be used here! Verizon LTE will never work in Nigeria! But the GSM will! You are very wrong, in fact. Ever since Verizon introduced its first LTE phone, it stopped network-locking all its LTE phones that followed. So, yes, all Verizon LTE phones are never network-locked. Though Verizon limits its phones LTE bands mostly to bands it supports. But if you find a Verizon phone that supports any of our network lte band, it would work fine. It wouldn't need to be unlocked. |

Those who are already using it should endeavour to state the device they are using. That would help others to know what devices support band 28. Tomorrow I'll create a thread, listing devices that support band 28(700). |

Use a better test server, you will likely get better speed. Enter settings of the speed test app, then choose a faster server. your pings is too high, which means the test server is not good. |

After all, I only use my glo sim for data purpose. |

Fancy26: this is definitely not true. for the record, i will say that glo az always given data at the cheapest rate and they wont stop doing that. the prices of the 4g lte shows that all dey aim is convenience. alll hail glo the grandmaster of data. There is nothing convenient about lte band 28 (700mhz). It's one of the most uncommon fdd lte bands. By the way, What device are you using your Glo lte on? |

Although some other phones can be made to have all bands in existence, even 2G and 3G. Some HTC one m8, xperia z3, galaxy s5 and some other snapdragon phones. There's a software on pc used to unlock the bands. What is the name of that software? |

Unlimited22: 4g LTE has different network transmission bands. 1,2,3,7,20,21,28 etc. I think Glo's 4g LTE is only on band 28. And 90% of phones don't support band 28. Including infinix hot s. 90% is an understatement. It's more like, 97%. To make matters worse, none of the Infinix or Tecno lte devices support band 28/700mhz. Glo got this one real wrong. |

duwdu: I think the greater issue/concern over Glo's reported grab/choice of the older Band 28 on the 700MHz spectrum, is: What percentage of 4G enabled phones/devices in the mainstream support that band, or likely to support it moving forward in the form of new entrants? Based on what's being published, advertised or reviewed out there, that number is very small, unpopular, and is not likely to grow.
It is also my own personal experience, because my current two mid-range but well-regarded 4G LTE phones between them support Bands 1, 3, 7, 8, and 20. I deliberately made sure of that. None is smelling the 700MHz region! So I fully agree with dustmalik Glo may indeed have an unintended problem on her hands.
Having said all that, I'm sincerely wishing that Glo is just not solely on Band 28/700MHz (which, if I'm not mistaken, is based on the earlier FDD technology, anyways,) but that the network also finds it's way into any or all (lol) of the more recent Bands 3, 7, 8, and 20 which are based on LTE-Advanced technology, and into which most of the LTE world is moving.
Good luck, everyone.
P34c3 ..... ... Nice to see your post again. It's been a while, man. I guess you are doing great. To the topic at hand. I deliberately didn't reply the other poster because i don't like arguing unnecessarily. I state facts and move on. It's a known fact that the lower the frequency spectrum, the better the In-building penetration. Which, if all things equal, Glo would have had the advantage. But the issue is, band 28(700) is an extremely unpopular band. I can assure you that if you pick 20 random lte devices, more than 17 wouldn't support it. Now, compare it to band 7(2600), which I believe is the next most popular lte band after band 1(2100). You will find it present in 19 out of 20 random lte devices. This is the advantage MTN is going to enjoy. |

Edaro: Firstly you need to upgrade or swap your SIMM to a uSIM. Secondly you will get an LTE Phone compatible LTE 700Mhz band 28. I pity those who bought phones worth 200K and yet are only compatible with Asian LTE bands. I warned marketers when I went to Saka and Computer village to do a market survey that they should approach operators to ask them questions about their LTE Rollout they were making jest of me that since LTE is written on the phone then no cause for alarm. I will try to share with you guys tomorrow phones that are compatible with GLO LTE. If truly, Glo chose to go with FDD band 28 (700mhz), then Glo is surely going to regret it. It's a very unpopular band amongst devices meant for EMEA countries. I was hoping they would go with band 20 or 7. In terms of band, MTN has advantage over all our LTE networks. Its band 7 (2600) is the most popular band across devices worldwide. MTN always finds a way to have advantage over others. |
