Politics › Re: Maurice Iwu: 'Osun Election Was Conclusive' by dustydee: 2:15pm On Sep 24, 2018
seborrhic:
I actually thought this same argument canvassed by some lawyers and the PDP itself was just a propaganda tool and the party trying to blackmail the electoral empire.
But now that Iwu has clearly stated its antecedents and the only constitutional provisions it should apply, its clear that Adeleke should have been declared the winner.
Its a tricky situation now.
If PDP loses after participating in the re-run,it has shot itself in the foot, legally.
I feel PDP should heard to court to stop the rerun and compel INEC to declare Adeleke the winner of the election already.
I struggle to agree with the PDP that they should be declared winner and also disagree with INEC that a rerun should take [place at the PUs where the votes were cancelled. It should only take place in PUs where there was no election.
Imagine in 2019 APC is leading PDP with 100,000 votes but elections did not hold in Port Harcourt LGA. Will INEC be right to declare the APC the winner of the presidential election without conducting elections in that LG knowing full well that the votes can determine the winner?

Better. The Nigeria Police is giving this government and the entire country a bad name. They may have legitimate grounds for inviting the senator but timing is also very important.

Can you please list them and their ethnicity so we can judge if there is no federal character? Please remember that the Federal character law refers to "Ethinic spread" as well. Don't just focus on geographical spread.

B - The applicant submits documents in Nigeria. So sponsor has to find a way to send original documents + biometric copy......
I didn't include original copies. I sent scanned copies which was included in the application.

Wow thank you! Do you mind telling me what you used to sponsor? Documents I mean embarassed Abi is it what I’m thinking:
- Letter of Introducing stating our relationship and that I’m inviting her to visit for x duration?
- Account statements
- Resident permit copy Or can someone point me to a link that has the requirements if you want to sponsor someone pls. I haven’t seen it before.

Also if she is being sponsored the income part of the application form where they ask you accommodation money, spending money etc do we write N/A or still approximate an amount.

I can pm you if prefer. Thank you.
My wife and I included or payslips and rental agreement(which I didn't feel was relevant). There was also a cover letter when we did the first application but the second one didn't have one save for the explanation in the application letter, explaining her income and other situations that the documents didn't clearly reflect. see excerpt below explaining her income in the form:

My bank statement does not reflect all the money i receive in support as some of it is given to me cash. The livestock i mentioned is being taken care of on my behalf by a herdsman so I have no documentary evidence for it.
Letter of invitation had these attachments to support the application (most of which were not necessary but I lost the argument so it was included)
Accompanying this letter are the following supporting documents for your application and as requested by the UK boarder agency:
• International passport and residence permit copies
• Tenancy agreement/utility bills
• Recent saving account statement (Jan – Jun 2017)
• Pay slips for x and y (6 months)
• Saving account statements (6 months) showing payment of salary in the past six months.
• P60 (Tax end of year certificates)

Bro, I’m sure Op is making his comparison between public universities in Nigeria and America, nowhere in his posts did he state that he’s comparing private to private, which even if he did, there would be no comparison anyway cos private schools in USA would beat Nigerian private schools hands down.

And yeah, Nigeria would keep moving backwards as far as we keep voting these Neanderthal goats to be our leaders.

For these upcoming elections, it’s either between Moghalu or Sowore (or someone new entirely)

Fvck Atiku, fvck Buhari, fvck kwankwaso
The fact that you mentioned Sowore proves your point that "Nigeria would keep moving backward . . ." It just clearly shows that we are not ready to vote for competent and capable hands. Mentioning Sowore and Moghalu in the same sentence , as you have done, is sad.

Please explain Sir,

Like after paying $250 a month, $3000 a year and $15000 in five years, the car is still not yours and you have to pay another $16000 again before the car is yours shocked..

I using your earlier stated example
More or less. If you want to keep the car, you pay the balance or rearrange the finance.

This is new..
Mind to give a little more explanation?

I have wondered how $250 per month helps an American buy a car after 5years... The math doesnt add up.
It's the most expensive form of hire purchase.
After the term, the "renter" has an option of buying the car or getting another one on a different contract. e.g pay $250 monthly for a $25k car and after 5 years buy it off at say 16k or get another one at an agreed rate. Essentially you have no equity in the car and you are just "renting" it at that rate.

I have an issue though.. I have a 6 months short stay visa which ends on the last day of Feb. 2019 but my business in the UK would be till the first week of March before i depart.

Is it gonna cause any issue in the future? and/or can i rectify at the Home Office?

Tried getting responses from other threads but no response. Forgive me.
Contact UKBA to change the dates on your visa ASAP. You should have indicated your departure and return date on you visa so refer to it and ask them to change it.

As I don’t have. Dual sim phone, I use Rebtel. I pay like £7 or so for 1 hour to Nigeria, I think..

Lebara costs £20 for like 500 (abi 100) mins or so..

So pick your choice.
I have used rebtel before but I do not like the fact that they tax me for loading credit so I switched to White calling.

You install the app and load credit unto it. You then make a call from the app to the number in Nigeria. It is routed through a local line in the UK or you can use wifi (I have not tried this, I just use my inclusive minutes from my mobile).

thanks a lot @dustydee, i don't mind IT really, my first degree is Mathematics but my work experience in Nija was banking. I will research on Cloud Computing and Cyber-Security and see if i have interest in any of those and probably take it up from there. I just dont want to keep hopping from one thing to the other considering the fact that these exams dont come cheap.

I guess i don't need to go and bring my Father's Grand Mother's birth certificate before i'm able to open an account with Digital banks, but do they do everything banks with physical presence does? Don't they have their odds?
Very easy to open and pretty much the same with traditional banks.

Hello Guys,

Great work you all are doing on this thread. It has really helped me and my family to settle in well. Will share some of my experiences here to help people who might want to go same path.

I'm on a dependant permit, my wife's employer sponsored her and that covers for spouse and children under 18 (i think max of 4 children, i'm not sure about this).

To get my National Insurance Number, i had to call, they scheduled me for an interview as Nigerians now fall under the category of people to be interviewed. I'm still expecting that as it takes a while, max of 6weeks i think. You don't need this to work, you just need to show your employer that you had initiated the process. My wife did't have to do this as she had hers already at the back of her BRP as the principal applicant.

I got a temporary job in about a month after i got in to the country through an agency. I was made to understand that UK experience is key to enable you get a reference, and you know what, the moment i started and updated my CV, it really and truly enhanced my chances as i got more interview calls and all. I have been eating cold sandwich as lunch at work since o and looking for cheap meal deals up and down, that wont be for long sha as i need to start bringing food to work and save money.

We got a flat through Rightmove, inspected and settled for our best bet. That cost us a fortune though, deposit and agency fees attached to it. Bought sofa, bed and mattress through Argos and was delivered but the bed was a big deal to set up, i screw tire so tay my hand sore the next day. (i forgot to write a review of that on Argos website)

Now i'm considering changing career, spoken to some people but i need opinions here, you guys have always been so on point. here is my question, which professional exam can one go for now and you are assured of jobs all over? is Prince2 still a catch? Does the 5days training and certification realistic as i don't want to just go throw way money wey i no get give any academy. Just wana get it right plssssss.

Now childcare is a hell of stress, if you sabi sit down for armchair and be ordering people around in Nija, then you must have loads of money to be able to do same here otherwise you will just be frustrated. Even to get Nursery that is not fully booked is a challenge. I have seen a lot of arrangements asper childcare o,going to the Nursery for 3days in the week and going to stay at a Church member's house for the remaining 2days at a cost.

On Bank Account, I'm yet to open one, they need the original utility bill in my name and the available appointment days seems far away so i just left it jare, will go back next week. I get my salary paid into a friend's bank account.

I have just paid for the Provisional Driving Licence, as soon as i receive the form, will fill and push it out. Pls how long does it take to be issued?

Sorry for my long epistle, just thought to share.

Will update as things unfold.
Welcome and congrats.
On the certifications, there is no hard and fast rule to it. If you are thinking of changing careers, it may take a while except if you are already in a job and switch departments. You can consider cloud computing and cyber-security if you are into IT.
On banking, why not open an account with one of the Digital banks mentioned here - Starling and the the rest? What if something happens and you are unable to access your friend account?

As I said previously I do not live in Nigeria, which makes the guest's actions more mysterious. There is no logic in the guest keeping or hiding for future use Naira in a country where Naira is not the currency.
The person probably kept it there for safe keeping and forgot where he/she kept the money. He/she probably thought the money was stolen and did not inform you to avoid embarrassment. If I were in your shoe, I will call the person to enquire if they left the money there and inform them of my discovery even if it was more than a year later. He/she probably thinks there’s a thief in your house.

Thanks Bro.

For me to work as optometrist in UK I was told I needed to register with General optical council. To do that there's a prereg program that I will do for 12month minimum -2years 3month under 5tiers sponsorship visa. After the completion of the program and I passed the exam I will be allowed to register then have to return to Nigeria to apply for job for me to be under tier 2 visa. Please can I apply for tier 2 visa while I'm still in UK?
You can apply for a job while still in the UK, once made an offer with sponsorship, you can return to Nigeria to apply for the visa.

zuto4u:
I am here to read comments because I am desperately in need of advice regarding the cost of traditional and white wedding in Igbo land. My fiancee said that 2.5 million will not be enough for the kind of traditional and white wedding she would like us to have. She said that I should budget more, and I have budgeted 3 million. Both of us are from Imo state. I think 3 million is much, but she does not think so, (mind you, she is not extravagant. She is a well trained young lady from a very decent home. And she is very God fearing too). For now, I am just an average young guy, not poor and not very rich either. I need advice as well too. We plan to settle down next year by God's grace.
How about you split the bill say 60-40, you bring 60% while she brings 40%? People will hardly remember the decoration and your gown or suit 2 weeks after the wedding. Some will still complain they did not get food to eat. Do what you can afford. If you plan to spend 3m make sure you have at least an extra 3m in savings after spending that amount.

I struggled with buying a diesel car but in the end due to the anticipated distance I was going to be commuting I reluctantly went for a diesel and it's been good so far. Lower taxes, bigger engine with lower fuel consumption.
In Nigeria I'll go for petrol because of maintenance issues.

Alright, I get now. Thanks he will submit the statements for the savings account then. I thought they would like to see the salary entering his account monthly, hence the reason I wanted him to moved some money from the savings to the salary account so the salary account will show proof of salary entering his account and the sponsorship amount.

2 years might be taking a risk, we will go for the 6 months first.

Thanks a lot. Cheers
Better to still include his salary account statement, doesn't cost much but helps a lot.

He is moving money so there won’t be any need for two statements. I know the important account is his salary account (full time job) so I told him to move the money from his other account there.

Applicants are advised not to buy tickets until they get the visa, so the money in the account is meant to contain the flight ticket and expenses for the two weeks he will be here.

Thanks, I’ll target the one year visa then and my brother will explain the source of his income.
I was questioning the need to move money between accounts. All he should do is show his savings (money for sponsoring the trip), which must be in his account for at least 3 months (not sure) and 6 months’ pay slips as proof of employment. Moving it will not be necessary.
There's no 1 yr visa, you either apply for 6 months, 2 yrs, 5yrs or 10yrs visa.
