I think the federal government should adopt true federalism. States should have control of their resources and pay tax/royalties to the federal government. Any state that can't survive should close shop and look for "development partners". The security agencies, for now, should be managed by the federal government. |

WOCKHARDI: See who's talking about obeying court orders. So Court orders matter to you and are to be obeyed? But the same court order granting bail can be overruled by your supreme commander, abi? Clap for yourself. Which court order did they disobey? Nnamdi Kanu: Court ordered that he be released unconditionally since the government did not charge him to court. He was then released, immediately rearrested and charged to court. He is now waiting to take his plea after which the issue of bail can then come up. Dasuki: Court granted him bail, he met his bail condition and was released and immediately rearrested for another offence. Are you suggesting that if he went on to kill someone, or it was discovered that he killed someone he should not be arrested because the court in granting him bail for say money laundering said he should not be arrested? The law doesn't work that way and it is subject to interpretation. Ever wondered why his lawyers have not gone to court to challenge his rearrest? |

DONSMITH123: DEPUTY President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has warned that continued detention of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh was designed by the Federal Government to gag the mouthpiece of the opposition.
Ekweremadu who stressed the need for the All Progressives Congress, APC led government to be cautious against the trampling of the opposition and total disregard for the rule of law in the guise of anti-corruption war, said that with this development, the country was fast descending into authoritarianism, adding that it spells doom on the nation’s democracy.
In a statement signed yesterday by his Special Adviser, Media, Uche Anichukwu, Senator Ekweremadu who reaffirmed the PDP’s support for a genuine anti-graft crusade, however, decried a situation where such crusade becomes a calculated attempt to decimate and silence the opposition, while members of the ruling party with serious corruption allegations go about their businesses.
The Deputy President of the Senate who was speaking in the light of the continued detention of Metuh, Senator Ekweremadu said,” the continued detention of the PDP mouthpiece was an attempt to gag the opposition and therefore unhealthy for democracy.”
Warning against the corruption of the anti-corruption war, he argued: “An anti-graft trap that catches only members of the opposition and those with axe to grind with the government of the day is compromised.”
He called on the nation to denounce and resist the prevailing situation where people are held in custody against the directives of the courts and laws of the land, insisting that there would be no justice without the rule of law.

The first day Nigerians first heard this fine, we believed it to be a N5 billion but according to the regulatory body, Nigerian Communications Commission, the penalty was calculated at $1,000 per defaulting MTN line! How so?! Why dollars? As much as some of us have tried to create some logic by explaining the possibility of a typographical error which may have exchanged “N” for “$”, the regulatory body insists and maintains that its fine is in USD. Wrong the fine is N200,000 per unregistered SIM. The international media had to convert to dollars so that others will understand the enormity of the fine. |

centvin008: The Punch reports that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has demanded the release of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN). Malami, according to a statement, asked the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to formalise its request for the release of the Shi’ites’ leader, who alongside some members of the group, have been in detention since December, 2015. Sheik El-Zakzaky may regain his freedom soon. This was after the group clashed with troops in the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, in Zaria. Salihu Isah, the AGF’s special adviser on media and publicity, in a statement on Thursday, informed that Malami gave the advice on how to press for the detainees’ release during a visit to him on Tuesday by a delegation of the supreme council to put together by its national president and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. “I will do whatever I can within the confines of the law to see how an amicable resolve can be achieved. “ So when your demands are formalised, I will treat and facilitate it to the appropriate quarters accordingly,” the AGF was quoted to have said. “As Muslims, we know what is obtainable in Islam especially in the area of rights, individual rights, especially rights of way. “As Muslims, we have a collective responsibility to create awareness through our preaching on tolerance and compliance according to the dictates of Islam,” Malami stated, adding that the clash between the Shi’ites and the Nigerian Army in Zaria was unfortunate and sad. https://www.naij.com/689316-finally-attorney-general-demands-release-shiites-leader-el-zakzaky.html/?damilare&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_group=free Lalasticlala, Mynd44 Where in this article did the attorney general demand the release of Zakzaky? streetzdreamz: this ain't about what your driving school says, its the reality!!I bet you haven't witnessed this scenarios before hence your total dependence on handbrakes, handbrakes gets faulty a times and damns any form of repairs, what do you do then?dump the ride cuz of that??there is always a plan b which is sometimes more efficient than a plan A,our opinion must differ just telling you there is a safer option than handbrakes!!sometimes after the vehicle is parked and in a transmission gear, you see people still backing it up with stones or wood behind the tyres, why??no machine is 100% efficient. Sure, i am only saying you should use it as designed except in unusual circumstances rather that make it the norm. |
Car Talk › Re: Car Parking Position. Neutral Or On Gear? by dustydee: 7:22am On Jan 05, 2016 |
jnrbayano: The handbrake can fail.
Yes or no? That is why you need to check that it is working. I described a simple test in my previous comment. If it is not working properly, you will likely know when you want to park and you should be looking for a mechanic. |
Car Talk › Re: Car Parking Position. Neutral Or On Gear? by dustydee: 7:19am On Jan 05, 2016 |
streetzdreamz: that's a very bad approach, the HandBrake's ain't 100% efficient, so the transmission should always be engaged when the vehicle is stationary, preferably gear1 and reverse respectively, depending on the d slope...who forgets to clutch down before starting a manual car in the first place, first thing to do before turning the ignition is clutching down and checking your brake system, same goes for automatic rides, this one is simple to a fault as you can't engage the transmission without your legs on the break, its a precaution on its own. I am yet to see a driving school that teaches that. If you handbrake is not 100% effective, then you shouldn't be driving it in the first place. And are you not aware that sometimes we forget that the gear is engaged before starting a car. If you go to a proper driving school in a sane society they don't teach that. In fact part of the driving test is the use of handbrakes while parked on a slope. The routine is start - engage the gear - reach your biting point by lifting your leg off the accelerator- once you reach your biting point, release your handbreak and accelerate your car will go forward. You are encouraged to regularly check your handbrake to ensure that it is not worn out. Simply pull on it and ensure that it is not slack or that it does not extend beyond its limit. |Putting it in gear should not be a regular option, only when our don't trust your handbrake. |
Car Talk › Re: Car Parking Position. Neutral Or On Gear? by dustydee: 10:01pm On Jan 04, 2016 |
Do not leave your car on gear when it is parked. Always put it to neutral. Sometimes we forget to clutch down when starting a car and if the gear is engaged, it can cause the car to jump and could lead to an accident. That is one of the functions of the handbrake. |

ShowYourCertificate: Just listen to yourself. "Subsidy has removed itself", funny statement isn't it? No wonder you laughed. I laugh too. The former regime said it wanted to remove subsidy which was rejected by Nigerians but when the opportunity presented itself in form of lower oil prices, the same government went ahead to reduce pump price thereby maintaning subsidy to score cheap political point. Now the price is such that the government doesn't have to pay subsidy hence my statement that subsidy has removed itself. |
Politics › Re: Who Funded Apc's Presidential Election?:Nigerians Should Learn To Ask Questions by dustydee: 12:22pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
superpundit: As President Buhari continues to get encomium for his acclaimed fight against corruption, one critical missing link which many opponent and proponent of his administration have been silent on is, how did the APC fund his election. we remembered our able president told Nigerians he took a bank loan to pay for his form. firstly, there is strong ethical question hanging on the action of PMB to borrow money from a bank to fund his bid for presidency. I know the president merely sold that to Nigerian as part of the APC's propaganda to Nigerians to create the impression that its candidate is truly a masses' man. Away from that, the real question as Nigerians look critically into Dasukigate, we also need to ask the questions, what was the source of APC's funding for the last presidential election. if the president claims that he is not a rich man, then by law, I know there is an obligation to INEC, the government and the Nigerian people to provide audited account of campaign fund for all parties. Except the president comes clean on this, there is no way he can convince rightly thinking Nigerians, as apart APC mugus and magas, that he is incorruptible. no doubt this explains why most politicians in the APC fold will never be probed or purnished once Buhari remains Nigeria's president. he dare not try it and if he attempts to, the dirty linen of the president will be washed in the open.
To me, except PMB can come clean on this, he is deceiving himself, and very soon, the same hawks who joined arms with him and sold his candidacy to gullible Nigerians will soon come back for his jugular very soon if he fails to settle boys accordingly, when times come for them to get their returns. The president spoke English the day he bought his form and he never said he took a loan. He said he told his bank to honour any cheque from him irrespective of his bank account balance. I know private individuals who donated to the campaign fund. They also used the telecoms companies to raise funds. The last government was so bad that millions were willing to donate just to get them out. |
