Afternoon to fellow web developers , few months ago . i got a work from a user from this forum with the username @mackmanuel,

@mackmanuel threatened 'THAT VERY SOON SOMEONE WILL SWIM IN HIS BLOOD' , i don't know if he is a cultist for a student to make this kind of statement to another just because of issues between.

the work was to transform his wapka website into a wordpress based website. because the wapka had some issues which could be solved on wordpress.

we agreed on the payment plan. N5K. I discovered that he was using free hosting which i told him that free hosting is not the best, after two

weeks. He paid for hosting which is N5K.

since i have a master reseller account, i added his account into it and changed the nameservers of the domain to the master reseller account so that all could be managed at once.

it happened that while i was building the site based on wordpress, i was building the theme from scratch to suite a need for him.

i showed him work in progress and the next thing i heard was a shout 'this is not what i want', i asked him to calm down but he won't.

from there , we had disaggrements and we finally agreed to use a wordpress theme "sahifa" with post format as what he wanted.

After few days, he called for his cpanel details. i guess the mistake i made was not seperating his hosting from the master reseller hosting account.

weeks past, i was writing exams and so i was not free.

the disagrement continued.

THEN BECAUSE THEY WAS DELAY IN WORK, HE STARTED CALLING ME NAMES HERE, i never called him names before.

so i sent him ftp account details.

after that , he said a friend was helping him to build the site, because the work i had done for him were no more on the site when i checked the site.

He asked for how to use the ftp details, i told him to use filezilla, but since he is not web technically inclined, that turned out to be issue for him so he kept calling how to use and i tell him do it this way.

SINCE THEN, WHENEVER I MAKE A POST ON THIS SECTION , HE CALLS ME ALL SORT OF NAMES LIKE slow poke, criminal, scammer when its not that you pay me and work was not done but disagrement and misunderstandings set in .

I also noticed that as a result of that, he has friends who say all sort of stuff too who i don't even know.

I have made all efforts to resolve this issue through mails, calls, text messages. i know by calling names, he does not know the effect .

He called me a thief, liar, criminal, slow poke, a thief when i am not one of those. because i see him as a customer and as the saying goes 'customers are always right' , i did not call him any of those names back .

since i used a master reseller account for him, which is of no effect as he is now using a different hosting, he asked for a refund of N5k which i have agreed to pay him,

I only asked him to open a thread to APOLOGISE FOR CALLING ME THESE NAMES, apart from destroying reputation, he has done damages which if taken to a court will not be a joke.

HE REFUSED TO DO THAT, so please to let all Know.

the codes are just showing , the codes you pasted are not posted correctly, go to the advertiser website where you got the code, generate and paste it again for it to show up.

Morning, we all use wordpress and sometimes we imagine how to have a widget that does a particular function and is styled in a particular way either using LESS or SASS or Normal CSS.

This morning, i want to share how you can create your own custom wordpress widget, though writing wordpress widget is OOP based, that is its Object Oriented Programming because we will use the PHP OOP keyword "Extends" to extend the "WP_Widget" class so we can have access to all of its methods and properties. for this tutorial to make more sense to you, i will suggest if you don't know anything about OOP, you can search for "PHP OOP" on google.

Just stick with me here and you will get something new learnt today,

First is that we will have to stub out our widget, from header definition to the class instanciaition ,

so we start:

go to your wordpress plugins folder, create a new folder and call it "nairaland widget" then create a file called "index.php" and paste the code below:, after that go to your dashboard->plugins and activate it. then go to appearance-> widgtes , you should see it listed out. you can then drag and drop it in any sidebar you want and save it.

From Your dashboard, Go to Layout, depending on your theme, you can click on "add widget" , a pop up in another browser tab will appear, scroll down and click on HTML/JAVASCRIPT,

paste your code in the text area field, give it a title if you like and save, go to the front end , it should display depending on which side you put the widget.

we know that in PHP , its possible to send server request and a response will be sent in an array , $response=array();

containing the headers of the response, the body of the response , $response['body']. Using procedural php, we can use the two functions php makes available which is the 'curl' function and the 'file_get_contents()' function.

But do you also know that you can query an api using wordpress function called 'wp_remote_get' , with the transport GET?

Try sublime text 2 or notepad++,

notepad++ is what i use, and i recommend it. its light, has plugins to extend the IDE usage.

Give it a try, on mac though, i use textMate. its cool too.

Hi, css reset helps to override the default styles for cross browser compatibility. so that when your website is been viewed on broswers such as chrome, firefox, opera, safari and IE, there is uniformity in styles.

css reset became a good practice as it helps set your own styles of how the html elements should be rendered than browser default style.

if for example, you don't declare your h1 selector properties and value, a default value will be used which is not a constant one by all browser. Google chrome could render it using

h1{
font-size: 1em;
}

firefox could render it in


h1{
font-size: 1.5em;
}

opera browser could render it in

h1{
font-size: 2.5em
}

internet explorer could render it in

h1{

font-size: 3em;

}

so when your website is been viewed on different platforms, it won't look ok as you want it to be.


using CSS RESET, you can PREDEFINED some selectors properties and values.

the margin and padding is another. when you open a website, apart from your styles, the browsers render theirs too.
