I used to own a 2005 Prado v6.. Nice car.. But lacks the refinement of its sibling Lexus GX.. Fuel consumption is quite high and parts are expensive for a vehicle that looks like a towing van.

I got tired of of its looks and swapped it out for a 2007 Lexus GX460... Difference is like night and day.

Lol to that. I'm seeing too many Lexus SUVs these days on the road. Might as well be Nigeria's most popular SUV now

I am one such seller. It is the buyers that have robbed me by the way. People looking for unrealistic price are the main problem. My prices are always competitive. They will still be looking for even less. My business line has now gone with one phone that a buyer took from me. I no longer want to prove to anyone that I am clean. I want them to prove they're not crooks. Result: little sales volume. This country is sick

I dunno, I don’t do Peugeot so I can’t answer for that. However, I’m a firm believer in driving your car regularly for long distance to warm up properly and keep things in shape.

I just joined this part of nairaland as I'm planning to go into car market.

I have a V-boot that for most of the past 5 years I've had it, I drive it twice or thrice a month, 30-50km on average and it's in top shape.

I only changed the battery I bought in 2018 last year. Total maintenance expenditure in 5 years is probably 100k and I do most things myself -- I don't have a mechanic. Only major work done that was a must was water pump change, which existed before I bought the car. One kick start till date, the record was after parking for 12 days straight! I changed the fuel accumulator today which was compromising that one-kick start of late. Price: 2k.

I understand recent cars are made to expire after a while (planned obsolescence). So to each his own

You have no right to come to the public and declare a car was stolen just because your computer told you VIN don't match.

If you can properly identify the seller and it happens he's genuine and there are other reasons for this apparent discrepancy, I would sue you for defamation

The hike in price of toks cars has led to a correspondent hike in price of its alternative, Nigerian used Vehicles. This is because there is now more demand for Nigerian used Vehicles, since toks vehicle is out of most people's grasp.. The current reality is that Clean Nigerian used is the new Toks.. If you like buy, if you like, no buy.


Also maintenance costs have also gone up...Car parts dealers do not care if the car whose parts you wanna replace is toks or Nigerian used.. So if someone is maintaining his car at current car part rates, why will he sell the car at old rates?.. A 4litre can of Mobil 20W50 cost 4500 as recently as 3 years ago.. Now it's more than 10k...So if a car owner serviced his car with mobil of 10k, he should sell it as if he was buying the oil at 4500?

Yes my theory still applies.. If you have a car you bought pre-2018, feel free to sell it at pre-2018 price, as a Father Christmas that you are.. Only then will you realize how much you have jonzed when you realize you sold the car for less or a little more than the present cost of its toks or packaged Nigerian used engine and gearbox.. Criticising people's actions is easy until you try to do the action you criticise..

I'm truly shocked by our people's basic lack of understanding of economics and demand and supply law. They do understand if they're the seller though. I'm not a car importer. If a human being can find buyers of a broom stick for 1 million naira, he would sell it for as such. The moderating factor is the demand (the willingness to pay such and such). That's why a price is an equilibrium of demand and supply.

I sell cameras and I know how much I used to buy them before the 2020 dollar disaster. Today people are still demanding I sell same price or even less than in 2020. I refuse to take a 50+% loss; they find other photographers who have made money with their own cameras and can afford to maintain that price at a loss to we importers who don't use the cameras to make money. I can not force them that they must pay x2.5 because dollar has risen by that amount. It cuts both ways but each person is looking only for his own benefit
