Port Harcourt, Warri, Benin City, Aba, Enugu and Onitsha make up the six city southeast cluster. Its proximity to oil wells has led the region to be a hub of activity for oil companies and foreign investment . According to the report, total GDP in this cluster alone is $63bn, which is a close rival to Lagos’s GDP of $68bn, [b]despite having far fewer households. Both Port Harcourt and Aba have considerably higher consumption per capita than Lagos. Taking a critical look at the above we can see that the SE/Niger Delta cluster has the highest per capita consumption and standard of living. Note that the SE cluster has a population of about just 7-9million with a corresponding GDP of $63B vs Lagos with a population of 21million and a GDP of $68B. That is why they said PH and Aba ( and from calculations the other cities) have a CONSIDERABLY higher per capita consumption than Lagos. |
GPA5: According to a recent African Development BankI cannot help you. I cannot cure blindness. |
abagoro: That Port Harcourt has by far the highest consumption per capita in Nigeria is very indisputable, but the fact that Aba is higher than Lagos comes as a surprise to me. I believe that the under-estimated population of Aba or over-estimated population of Lagos is the reason for this miscalculation.Aba should definitely not come as a surprise to you cause it straddles PH and Owerri which it feeds with goods. Aba has a more uniform income spread then Lagos hence the higher per capita consumption. It is very simple. |
GPA5: Ibadan (the capital of Oyo State) is theYou are a stark illiterate trying hard to be sarcastic. Where are Enugu and Onitsha located? If you even bothered to read the article, you will see that the SE cluster boasts the highest per capita spending notably PH and Aba which surpass even Lagos. Please learn to read. Large land mass is what Ibadan has going for it. |
maestroferddi: Parochial because your sole index of urban expansion/development is the presence of oil companies. On the other hand, Enugu is built for tourism. It has a booming real estate sub-sector unlike PH that is experiencing one of the most serious real estate crises in among African cities.Thank you so much. He has a very very narrow minded view of what economic opportunities are. |
ldpele: HAd issues with this prof on sunday 3rd aug. Just parked my car just by the school entrance without causing any obstruction and crossed over to buy food stuffs from the opposite market. Spotted people surrounding my car with a school security vehicle with it and I came out bold trying to know what was happening up and out of surprise identifying my self as the car owner, this VC came out strong on me,shout shout!! Who are u!!***yelling*** at all;everbody around the site most especially his security and my quick response was that south-east wasn't in any threat and they was not post indicating for one not to park there,to cut the story short, ended up paying three thousandWhy would you park your car in front of the university gate and expect to get a medal for it? ![]() |
The bottle is the wrong way up. And the layer of makeup on her face will not allow any living organism to penetrate. |
spyder880: OK, this is a foundation I did at world bank Owerri, soil colour?Actually, most parts of Owerri have more of sandy soil. Some parts have red soil but it is not as clayey as that of Enugu. |
Why silence the voices just like Buhari did? |
I am just wondering what made the moderators hide this exposé on Buharism. Please I just need honest answers. Thanks. |

HopeAtHand: Nope..if you aint talking OYEL that means ure doing something wrong.Uyo(Akwaibom) is relevant in the oil sector and Enugu is a real estate paradise right now, so that is my confusion. I know a couple of friends who have invested heavily in the latter. To say they are under your radar means you are not yet big/diversified enough. |
HopeAtHand: Anyone planning on levelling Nigeria can go ahead as far as they dnt level Port Harcourt. You must be a petty trader. |
That looks so much like Oshogbo. |
wirinet: Sorry to but in on a purely Igbo (or should i say Imo) matter, but as an outsider, i do not understand the vitrolic attacks by Igbos against Okorocha. Is it that he is the worse Igbo governor in Nigeria? Because nobody attacks Theodore Orji or Sullivan Chime the way they attack Okorocha. I can not remember any other Governor in Nigeria's history that has been criticized as much, not Uzoh Kalu, not Mbadinuju and not even Ohakim. From what we outsiders read here on Nairaland, Okorocha seems to have been the worse governor ever to have governed eastern Nigeria. Are you for real? Please, just go to the thread that says rate your governor and see for yourself. Rochas has not received up to a third of the criticisms piled on T. A. Orji. Rochas repeated onslaught here is simply because some people are hell bent on sycophantic praise singing. |
delishpot: They know the symptoms. Once someone presents with it, they know. What is the big deal in wearing some coveralls, gloves and nose masks when handling a patient for the first time?I am trying so much to suppress the urge to call you a big FOOOOL. |
meforyou1: my main grouse with okorocha is that he has subjugated a great town, my hometown arondizuogu, economically, politically and socially. the major road that passes through arondizuogu is the worst road in africa as of today. there's no single infrastructure in the town. the only general hospital there is dead except for the motuary section only. the 2 main secondary schools there(built by the indigenes of the town) are in a state of disrepair. This is sad Arondizuogu is a great town with many enterprising individuals. It will even be more painful , I can imagine , considering that if you just drive across the border to Anambra the story changes. |
prophetone: What are all those industries doing? It's not the CEO's doing the work you know.True I was actually meant the state government. I wasn't clear. |
OP This is what we need to see coming from the north not spoilt rich kids in super cars. However, they should also empower the common man. |

Ebola is not the only hemorrhagic fever. There is Lassa, yellow etc. (They are all reportable and serious). But it is good to be on high alert. |
But what really happened? |
That is sad. Thank God the police acted to save the life of the other twin. |
Thumbs up to the Agric minister Akinwumi. He is truly dedicated. Dangote has also committed himself to investing in the Nigerian economy. |
I HATE "African time". |
Feedmemore: Reread your post for substance, after reading, do you think you 're making any sense? ![]() I was wondering the same thing too. "Worry about future generation that was lost" That has absolutely no meaning. |
odinma1: I wish we could have this sort of development in my own state of AnambraThere are actually three mega malls under construction in Anambra. If you are from Osun, say so no one will bite you. No need claiming a more advanced state. |
cjrane: Building city gates was an ancient Islamic concept to regulate just one entrance and exit point in their cities and towns.Usually to ensure security during the medieval periods of frequent wars. However modern middle eastern cities now use city gates as an art work center of sort.Remember Rochas has been influenced a lot by the north. |
