kingsolve: Wow, great crowd indeed.According to Ogbeche the crowd is of low 'quality'. |
rodeo0070: Going to Shoprite Ibadan...Falls off amala mound ..... |
gidiMonsta: Not as dangerous as people think. Anacondas are very gentle snakes despite their humongous size and they very rarely attack humans underwater (or anywhere for that matter).Thank you for being informed. I think the snake even looks cuddly. |
on a good day:How is asking for training facilities and funding preventing others from doing their work? |
omonnakoda: University education was free when Abacha was in power what are you talking aboutAre u accusing me of changing posts cause u just did that. I clearly explained to u that the doctors that were sponsored by the govt are in Nigeria. Then, when a doctor graduated he was given a car and apartment. Why would he want to leave? I remember i paid my tuition so i don't know what u are arguing about. I also know that doctors do a mandatory internship and youth service before they get there registration. What exactly is your problem with doctors? |
omonnakoda: Please tell us who paid? When was tuition introduced in Nigerian UniversitiesI can assure you those neurosurgeons, radiotherapists etc are the few that are in the country training others because they feel obliged to do so. Imagine if the govt hadn't taken initiative. There are emerging fields in medicine daily and we are speaking out for the govt to key in and sponsor doctors to get trained and to equip hospitals for better training and you disagree where do you stand? |
omonnakoda: Please tell us who paid? When was tuition introduced in Nigerian UniversitiesParents. Those who benefited from free education are the older profs and most are in the country training others. I meant to say undergrad electives. Even many residents sponsor themselves on electives. |
omonnakoda: And their undergraduate training was paid for by the UK?No it was freein almost all cases and there are some who were sent on elective training as part of residency in the 90s who absconded so educate yourself not meUndergraduate training was NOT paid by the govt. Elective training (undergrad)IS NOT paid by the govt. It is the individual that pays FULLY for this so NO obligation whatsoever is owed to the govt. Get your facts right and stop spreading fallacy. |
omonnakoda: There are different models in different countries.Government does not have to intervene particularly in a capitalist country where doctors can complete their training and elope. What return has Nigeria got on the 1000s of doctors it trained who are now in the US and UKNow that you seem to be amenable to education let me inform you further. Nigerian doctors you find in the UK, US are those who did their residency training programme there. Thus they owe the Nigerian govt no obligation whatsoever. In any case if they decide to return it is for humanitarian purposes as the govt cannot afford to pay them a quarter of their earnings in the US where they trained. Remember i said that resident doctors who are sent for overseas training are often required to sign a bond and you called me a liar. Well here it comes up again. If i take a loan to further my training wont i need to pay it back? Pls refer to my former post on why this is not the best option. |
omonnakoda: That is true for motor mechanics and other apprentices .In life everyone makes sacrifices. The issue is why should government pay for your education which they subsidize anywayOpen your ears and listen. eaglechild: You further expose your absolute ignorance on residency training programme with each post.Another example. A training in laparoscopic procedures may take months to years and in many cases are available only to institutions rather than individuals. Costs for individuals are often more expensive we are talking thousands of dollars. Now, if i take a bank loan and get this training and take another bank loan and procure equipment to enable me practise. What i'll simply do is to cater for only clients who can afford the services because i have to pay back the loans. How will i have helped the common man? Don't you get it that when it come to training of doctors and facilities the govt just has to intervene. It is a global phenomenon. |
omonnakoda: That is the radiology resident's personal problem not the government's. Does the government pay for pilot's to better themselves. Your thinking is one of "entitlement" like a petulant teenager . How is a software engineer,Engineer, caterer supposed to get his training etc HIS PROBLEM !! to be paid for by HIMSurely you are just having fun. I sincerely hope that you did not mean what you just typed. It is now His personal problem to get trained. However, when he demands better facilities and even better pay, you start quoting the Hippocratic oath for him and you'll be the first to remind him that he is running a humanitarian organization. |
gmyguy: i think he is a witch doctor, he said he went to med school before i was born. why would a 50+ year old open a thread to curse his antagonists?!ROTFLMAO! Didn't know i was talking with someone who needed a psych evaluation |
omonnakoda: Can you cut the bullcrap . Who said it is about paying the residents. The resident extracted a commitment for funding for overseas training the last time they went on strike. The other thing is paying for courses and exams. Nothing to do with buying defibrillators which by the way are not used only by doctors. Why don't other professionals go on strike when equipment are unavailable or is it only doctors that train with equipment.Pleaseeeeeee.You further expose your absolute ignorance on residency training programme with each post. How will a radiology resident receive training on MRI spectroscopy or aspects of interventional radiology when no centre in Nigeria offers such? How can he afford such a training without govt intervention? When he completes his training how will he practise if such facilities are not available? Yet people like you yell that govt officials squander our tax on receiving treatment abroad, but will NOT subscribe to funding for training of doctors? That sounds like bigotry and witchcraft. |
omonnakoda: Not quite true many made sacrifices for democracy and to train other doctors( particularly training) and we must always be grateful to our teachers for teaching us the secrets.....No need claiming to be a doctor. You are not one. Doctors should NEVER strike cause they are supernatural beings without a cause? Please get real. |
omonnakoda: That is False not only is it false. Such a bond would be unconstitutional.I am stating clear facts here. I chose the word often. On what basis are u comparing a nursing student to a resident doctor? That is a very ridiculous analogy. Residency IS NOT a university degree, all resident doctors have a degree already, and no one wants indefinite time, rather adequate facilities and proper funding and a conducive training environment. |
omonnakoda: There is no benefit to anyone from a doctors strike. Why should government fund doctors training? Truth is many of the doctors here still reason like undergraduates with little knowledge of the world or reality. Does government pay for training for pharmacists,or other health professionals? This is a political issue and in many places where government does this for doctors they(residents) earn much less than nurses and other professionals until they qualify. In short they make a sacrifice and then when they qualify they serve the nation. In Nigeria they bullied the nation into paying superlative on call allowances and when they qualify most leave government employ. Why should government pay for you to better yourselfDoctors who benefit from government funding are often required to sign a bond which mandates them to work for that institution where they are training for a given period if they complete their training successfully. Doctors are the only healthcare professionals who have a given time to complete their specialist training or lose their appointments. In other words resident doctors are living on the edge and have no job security in the govt sector, your meal is dependent directly on passing exams, your passing exams is dependent on good training facilities and adequate funding. Good training facilities mean a better trained specialist who can better care for his patients. |
Very well done video. Just go on you tube and check how many hits the video has in just a few days of release. |
otokx: There are really only 3 airports in Nigeria being Lagos, Abuja & Port Harcourt. All the rest are wash.I'm sure u are from the SW where all the airports are moribund. |
