I was excited when you started this thread, but presently i must say that Enugu has deteriorated no thanks to the useless ESWAMA. The roads are not swept, the grasses on the road and sidewalks are not cut,the bus stops are not cleaned esp on weekends. I understand the gov has many ongoing capital projects but he shld also look into everyday running of the city. |

Is that the general Nigerian populace lacks the art of basic comprehension, or that some people from certain places hate Don Jazzy, cause i never saw where it was said he bought the wine with his money. Does it not make sense he uses a Loya milk mug since he is the ambassador of the product. |

Education › Re: Cut-off Marks For 2013 National Common Entrance Examination Released by eaglechild: 9:53pm On Jun 10, 2013 |
jajad: Actually the Hon. Kontigi is quite right, and you, my dear are quite wrong. You cannot infer that the average score of Anambra students is the highest. If each state has 100 slots and only 45 people from Sokoto take the examination, the lowest scoring among them (let's say she scores 2), will always get in. And the other 44 may have an average score of 150! Of course this isn't a realistic scenario, but it shows how the number of people applying from a particular state can affect the cut off mark.
PS: This is how people fail in aptitude tests, and say people from their village are against them. On the other hand if 1 million Anambra students sit for the exam and all score 130 and their cut off mark is 139 will any be admitted? So my dear friend, for the cut off to be 139 it simply means that going by your assertion a large number of Anambra students scored above 139 vs the number of people from other states who scored above their cut off marks so as to get an even distribution. In any case my village pple are the ones making the high scores. |

Hon. Kontigi: people just comment ignorantly. The cut-off marks are not set arbitrarily; rather, they are based on a number of factors including pass rate - this explains for example the difference between male and female figures for kebbi state. The Unity Schools cease to be such if students are not admitted from all the states of the federation in equal proportion. The states with high cut-off marks just happen to have large numbers of applicants- nothing more; it's not because the the boys and girls from there are more brilliant than others. Your last sentence is false. The students from states with higher cut off marks have higher scores and are thus more intelligent, simple. They may also have higher number of applicants but this is not always the case. If you take the mean score of each state Anambra will still come out tops. |
Politics › Re: Mixed Reactions On Enugu's Kia Police Cars by eaglechild: 6:25am On Jun 07, 2013 |
Okija juju: How effective would a V4 KIA Rio be in a chase against a V6 vehicle? Very ineffective. Against a V8 vehicle even worse. The effectiveness of the police can never be measured by the car they use. Remember that the existing Hilux vans were also given to them brand new. The Hilux is a V8, 4wd drive car that is also all terrain. Yet they wrecked them. At some point, they were also given Prado SUVs which they also wrecked. The Nigerian police would wreck these cars in no time. That's why we a re not so excited about this move. The newly purchased vehicles are geared towards community policing. Each is labelled with a given location where it is stationed. They are not patrol vehicles. They are also armed with radio to call for back up if need be. Hilux vans are still in use. A Hilux van cost 3 to 4x a Rio. The aim of the purchase is to heavily increase police presence and deter crime. |

Car Talk › Why Do Mechanics Always Advise Direct Radiator Wiring With Bad Thermostats? by eaglechild(op): 11:03am On May 18, 2013 |
I've noticed that once a car thermostat goes bad, mechanics will advise that the car radiator be rewired so that the cooling fans are always blowing once the car is on irrespective of the temperature. This adds to the car noise which is very irritating. Is there any reason thermostats cannot be fixed? |

Obiagu1: She was so quick to click on the link with smiles on her face and with words in her mouth, words filled with now trite praises of how superior her people is; the greatest people to ever walk on this earth. There and behold, the first name sounds familiar. With the quickness of finger of an experienced gamer, she scrolled down to see who the next nominee was. She paused for a while staring blankly into her screen, disappointed and jealous, she uttered a hiss. By this time, her fingers were ready to type, but lacking the coordination of her partially inactive brain cells, words were written that could not hide her envy towards a people that keep breaking her heart.
