ekiloui: Apart from capetown, KZN, pta and joburg, what other cities have better infrastructure? Just google soweto for example. These people feed 4rm hand to mouth, don't have access to education, menial jobs, poor living conditions etc. Only the big cities are highly developed. The truth remains that the white population in S.A have the good standard of living, same as the elite blacks..and there aren't many elite blacks as compared with the whites of people who can boast of good standard of living in Nigeria.
Btw they have downtowns in the big cities..I'm sure you know who lives there Lol! I don't need to google Soweto or Joburg etc cause I've been there. Soweto has one of the best trauma centers in the world and the basic amenities surpass that of Lagos mainland by ages. You conveniently forgot to mention Durban, Kimberly, Nelspruit, Port Elizabeth, Polokwane etc. These cities have better infrastructure than any Nigerian city. I do not mix sentiments with facts. |

Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana etc No! Why segregate? If you use the standard of living in the Northwest then Nigeria will be worse than North Sudan. Besides those groups you mentioned still have their average members with a better standard of living than most Nigerian ethnic groups. |

ribbit: is that so? Why are they complaining about foreigners taking their food?
It's only white South African that have better standard of living.. Black South African are poor, lazy and dumb. Do not be deceived. The average black South African at the same social status still has a better standard of living. I agree they may not be as ambitious as Nigerians but even Nigeria is diverse and not all regions are touted as hard working. The poor South African is better than the poor Nigerian. Besides why throw away the whites are they not South Africans? |

Kudos doing Nigeria proud.
Just like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Here is an excerpt.
“She strings his virtues out like Christmas lights – he’s shorter than her so he has to obey her, he’s finally learning how to kiss well – and her mother silences her by saying, sadly, that she didn’t think she’d raised that kind of girl. Her mother’s disappointment is the first time the girl becomes aware that the world requires something different than she is. It dampens her for a few days that worry Enebeli, and then she returns, but there is a little less light to her.” 1 Like |

I do not trust the Borno state government.
Their role in the kidnap saga has remained shady.
They were quick to blame the central government about Chibok and refused to take any responsibility irrespective of security warnings on conduction of exams in certain areas.
Now 293 from a community are suddenly found. |

JomoGbomo2: Do you know how "willing customers" are created for the drug industry? Most are innocent kids that started out due to peer pressure, they later became addictive and junkies. when they become addictive, they bring along another set of innocent kids and the cycle continues.
I tried out drugs in my secondary school days, guess who gave it to me..........my friends that also learnt from their own friends.
A lot of lives and dreams have been lost through this means and as far as I am concern, it has about the same potential in terms of eradicating a society when you compare it to what terrorists do though in a more subtle way. I am not saying that drug trafficking is not bad but I still maintain that it can never be compared to terrorism. You succumbed to peer pressure which is very strong. But you were not forced against your will. You could have said no. However, same cannot be said of a mother who goes to the market to buy food for her family or a student who goes to the park to board a bus for holidays and gets blown up. He has no say, no choice. He is an innocent bystander. |

JomoGbomo2: They are long dead now....except for the Filipino woman.
While you may be thinking the Indonesia govt. decision is too harsh, also remember the unsung victims that have all died due to drugs in Indonesia.
If drugs can kill innocents children then it's as bad as terrorism which also kills.... the mode/motive of killing maybe different, but the outcome "Kill" is same. Drug trafficking is evil but to equate it with terrorism is not fair at all. Drugs are bought willingly by the consumers, They are not coerced. Very much like prostitution it takes two. Terrorism however deals with the innocent bystander. |

SergeAlain: Stchinedu,
I like your sincerity. However let us appreciate that corruption is an intangible quantity and is very difficult to measure. Genuinely, absolute corruption has been on the increase in Nigeria from day 1, hence it is higher in each successive administration. However people forget that the man who steals in the day does not necessarily steal more than the guy who steals at night. it is just that his theft is more obvious.
The point i am making is that GEJ's rule coincides with the explosion of online nigeria. Under OBJ how many blogs were there? how many fora? even nairaland was in its infancy? there was even no BBM to talk of facebook or twitter, no saharareporters etc.. Hence GEJ's failing were well publicized, while OBJ's had the benefit of minimum exposure. e.g. OBJ tried unsuccessfully to remove the fuel subsidy at least 2 times, but when GEJ tried it once, what happened? An online/blog inspired revolution (ably supported by the opposition).
Bottom line there are very few of the systemic failures we experienced under GEJ whose seeds were not already growing under OBJ. E.g. we say NNPC's accounts are messy, and i agree. But do you remember that OBJ closely oversaw those accounts (as Minister of Petroleum under his own regime) for two terms?
We can certainly criticize GEJ for not meeting our expectations, we have every right to do so, our standards are higher now, and our patience is even less and those can only be good for Nigeria. However, if we compare him to any of the other leaders of this Country before him, it would be fair to say he did a decent job given the circumstances he faced (boko haram and heightened ethnic tensions). The anger is still high now and i don't expect most people to agree. However, i am confident that when posterity looks at his 6 years, they will regard him favorably compared to his forebears. Fact. |

This is the norm in public service.
What should be aimed at is reducing the basic salaries and allowances which are all indirectly tied to the severance package.
That way the severance package will also be reduced.
Political offices should be made less financially attractive by doing this. |

TeamSimple: You see the problem. So what do you call AIT unprofesional act. The media is meant to be the fourth arm of government,so what do we do to a medium that tends to play Bias, prejudice and selfish role? My bro,I think we cut em off before they implode something of a national mess. Party affiliations aside the act of AIT is so condemnable and unprofesional. We don't need such medium in Nigeria. AIT aired a sponsored programme. Which was within the limits of the law. No matter how aggrieved Buhari feels about that, it is within the rule of law backed by the constitution. If he feels otherwise the court is there. (That is what APC said about his non existing certificate). Far worse has been said about GEJ but he understands that we are in a democracy. If he continues this trigger response to situations he will be digging himself a grave. |

Don't know when selecting who covers your affairs becomes a sign of hate. Moreover AIT is not a national Station. He is a public figure and the president elect. His activities are public. His swearing in is a public event. Once he takes up that mantle of leadership he will be even more exposed to the public than he has ever been. He has not seen anything yet and he is already bawling like a toddler. |
