Politics › Re: Policeman Beaten To Death For Killing A Trader In Lagos by eagleeye2: 9:58am On Aug 07, 2013
“On the day of the incident, Ayuba and another policeman were dispersing the traders when things went wrong.

What went wrong?
I believe they said Ayuba must have killed the trader before the crowd overpowered them. How can the crowd just over power them, with them first doing something unlawful to incite the crowd?

homesteady: After all, its not only Nigeria police that are crude and nasty!
They should be greatful that it was not the interrogation team of SSS like those we use to hear about during Abacha regime.
They would have confessed all their crimes, both the ones they did and the ones they intend doing. Rubbish.

175: Is it dat one should after receiving alert still go to the bank and cross check to be extra sure againhuh? I give up. . .
Like someone already pointed out, a credit alert will contain the amount paid in and you new account balance after the money has been paid. Kapish.
Crime › Re: Man Uses Fake Bank Alert To Steal N5m by eagleeye2: 1:15pm On Aug 05, 2013
alpha conde: When u get an alert use your atm to cross check. This kinda of scam was invented d same day sms banking was invented.

How can someone have so much money and have little brains?
The guy na aboki naw....... Common sense should have told him to double check. I have experienced such before, where I got a genuine alert from my bank and tried to withdraw only to b told that the check has not yet dropped.....that they just sent it to the other bank for clearing.

xykms101: Are you comparing private schl with public schls where teachers are busy using students for domestic and farm work when they are suppose to be in the class studying.

Aside the fact that few *not all* of these private schls take good care of waec supervisors yet there are stil intelligent students in all these private schls.
my dear, you maybe right that Govt school teachers lazy around when they are supposed to be working. But the so called private schools is just someone else' business venture.
Most of the students who are really intelligent in these private schools are not intelligent because of what their teachers are doing. No. They are often naturally intelligent students or those their parents are willing to pay for extra classes outside what they are being taught.
Ministry of Education is my sector and I am a trained teacher. I have actually taught in a private school as a part time teacher, and I can tell you first hand that most qualified teachers who have the zeal to teach don't end up in these private schools littered everywhere. First, the pay is very small compared to the input a qualified teacher will be making... Secondly, the societal idea of "the end justifies the means" makes it even worse for teachers to really do their best in coaching their students, because at the end of the day.....proprietors will dole out cash to external supervisors and the children willbe given free hands to write the exams.
If you want to know where you can groom children to exhibit their intellectual prowess, look the way of missionary schools and Federal Govt Schools (Untiy Schools).
It is only a small percentage of private schools that are willing to keep really good and qualified teachers and pay them at least a living wage. And those schools charge high for the students tuition....
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Age Requirement Is Unconstitutional by eagleeye2: 12:01pm On Aug 05, 2013
xykms101: WAEC results from public secondary schls where they hardly have competent teachers, which is the duty of govt to retire the old skool teachers and employ the young and smart ones.

Go to private schools where standard teachers are ruling and see their WAEC results.
This assumption is a fallacy.
Private school students have better results compared to Govt school students because Proprietors of Private schools are ready to dig hand into their pockets and settle exam supervisors, unlike govt school where the principal has only his or her salary and a very small allowance from the govt to run the school.
Infact in every 100 private schools, more than 95% are doing what I just stated above, these excludes the Catholic missionary schools and other Schools run by Churches...(By churches I mean Anglican, Presbyterian, Assemblies of God Churches....not these come as you are churches).

ow11: Well NNPC, a government agency is guilty of this crime and that says a lot if you intend to sue in a Nigerian court. However, other private firms like KPMG have run foul of this law and suing them abroad can cause a change.

However, I would be surprised if this will do much because all the company can do is open a recruitment portal, ask all applicants to apply there and simply delete all applications with undesired birth dates. To prove you were discriminated based on age in a court of law is difficult at graduate entry except there is insider help which is also unlikely.

Therefore, whilst I think this is a good move, I also feel it's effect would be pointless.
Good analysis, but the senate and House of Rep can also pass it into law that no one needs to state his or her date of birth when applying for a position in any company or parastatal. Doing so will mean running foul of the law.

Let's assume for a second that this "deportation" saga did not happen. What makes Ngige think that Ben will be the right running mate. So Anambara people will have to accept Tinubu's stooge as there deputy. SMH.
As someone already said, all politics are local.
Politics › Re: APC Accuses Gov. Peter Obi Of Playing Politics With Nigeria’s Unity by eagleeye2: 5:35pm On Aug 04, 2013
So it is now Obi that is playing politics with the unity of Nigeria? When Fashola decided to dump Igbos at the head bridge at an ungodly hour he was not playing Nigeria's unity?
Fashola did a wrong thing, he should admit it and stop using politics to cover up his error.
