Ujujoan: I'm thinking of agreeing to it now just to end this face off, but go ahead and do what I want to in future!

So what do you guys think?
I think that the quoted part is wrong. Why not reach a compromise now and abide by it. Why, start the same quarrel over and over again in the future?

Tunji,
The issue is not about whether under-aged girls engage in Sexu,al immorality or not... The issue is about trying to use the amendment of the constitution to legalise Under-aged Marriage.
The way I see it, it's like saying because there are a growing number of homo-sexuals, then we should legalise homo-sexual/gay marriages in Nigeria.
Because others are doing it does not make it right.
how many of these girls (married )are actually looking for a way to renounce their citizenship?
Does it mean that a woman of say 50years and not married is not of full age?
Why will Senator Yerima bring up this issue again, if the senate has voted on it before?
What is wrong, if the Muslim men (like Senator yerima) wait for these girls to finish at least secondary school? (As pointed out by CBN President, 93% of Northern Girls lack Secondary Education)

I need answers Tunji.

If all the prominent women in this country keep silent in this issue of Child marriage and don't speak out, theen no woman has a right to come in 2015 and say she wants to rule Nigeria. I will even prefer the likes of Yarima to rule, because he has shown what he will do for his people and religion.

LagosShia: Aisha was a wife full of jealousy.her disrespect towards the Prophet (sa) and whether she was even a Muslim are contentious topics between Sunni and Shia Muslims.she wanted to portray herself, especially considering her destructive role in fitnah (strife) between muslims (particularly) the Battle of Jamal against Imam Ali (as) -which she led contrary to the Prophet's (sa) will to her-,to be innocent and young when the Prophet (sa) married her.in this way she is implying that she grew up in the Prophet's (sa) household and she attained "prophetic manners".also Aisha is recorded to have been given in marriage to a man before the Prophet (sa) married her.Jubair Ibn Mot'em was the man who was Aisha's first.therefore whether she was even a virgin when the Prophet (sa) married her is also contentious between Sunni and Shia Muslims.presenting herself as young and vulnerable, and someone who couldn't hurt a fly was also aimed at making her the Prophet's (sa) "favorite wife",contrary to reports that the Prophet's (sa) favorite wife was Lady Khadijah (as).Aisha was even jealous of Lady Khadijah (as),the Prophet's (sa) first wife who died before the Prophet (sa) married Aisha as his second wife.in this vain, the age of Khadijah (as) is inflated, and Sunni records claim and Sunnis maintain that Khadijah (as) was over 20 years older than the Prophet (as),while Aisha was just a "baby" when the Prophet (sa) married her.
It is a well known fact that Islam does not respect the rights of women... So I understand your analysis..... Aisha is the bad person, yet the Mohammed (SAW) did not get any revelation about how she was before marrying his friend's Under-aged daughter.

Why will she even want to renounce her citizenship in the first place?
So if she where, let's say 50 years and unmarried she is not of full age to renounce her citizenship?
Abeg carry your interpretation comot for here.
kolado: I was watching Tv yesterday when i saw a good many Nigerians carrying placards with bold inscriptions like "Say no to child bride"and "Child not bride". I waited with sick feeling of suspense to listen to the news and immediately i did i started laughing at the warped knowlege of able-minded Nigerians interpretation of statute, most especially the controversial Section 29(4)(b)CFRN 1999 as amended. Albeit the bevy of Nigerian senators don't even know the true import or meaning of the very section. It is pertinent at this crucial juncture to apprise us of the fact that Section 29(4)(b) has absolutely nothing to do with underage marriage in Nigeria let alone under the Nigerian Constitution. It merely borders on RENUNCIATION OF CITIZENSHIP which falls purely under CHAPTER 3 OF THE CONSTITUTION. The section 29(4)(b)provides thus:Any woman who married shall be deemed to be of full age. As such, the section invests on any woman though not of full age(18yrs and above)as much as she's married automatically has the right to renounce her citizenship. For instance,if she is 13yrs and she got married to a 70 year old man she will automatically be deemed to be of full age to renounce her ci tizenship by virtue of Section 29(1). How ever does this section liken to underage marriage in Nigeria? Stop whipping up religious sentiment which had been at its sadistic worst since passing of the senate resolution on the issue.

LagosShia: its a lie Aisha herself concocted to look innocent and vulnerable.check the posts in the link I posted.historical records convincingly show that Aisha was not below 16,and she could have been as old as 21 year old when the Prophet (sa) married her.
So it is a lie? But the Prophet's followers have been practicing such even till this day.
Is that one also a lie?

nagoma: And sex outside marriage is much more common in the south and including sex with unmarried underage girls and this decadent behavior has no age limit for the men either . Dirty old men are plentiful whether in the north or in the south, acclaimed Christians or acclaimed Muslims .
you have a point.. But the Christain South is not trying to legalise under-age marriage, neither are they endorsing S,ex with Under-age girls.
What these girls need is education and not marriage.
What they need is a pen and pen!s

Abeg, those saying that the law is about citizenship should park well joor.... Yes that section of the Nigerian constitution may have been there, but why not just amend it and include both under-age boys and girls?
Why, does it have to be Yerima and his hausa/fulani brothers that will constitute 95% of those that voted?
Why can't we have a blanket law, both for the unmarried underage girls and married underage girls?
Like tpia already asked, why not just allow the dual citizenship that the Nigeria law already provides?

pro01: "JOIN YOUR APC. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE."

This is the most interesting message I read in the placards. This would solve the crisis permanently, and put everyone at ease. Why is the stubborn goat reluctant to take this advice? Why does he want to die fighting in the PDP whose leadership he is not ready to respect, even if the state burns as a result? Why not join any of the opposition parties, so that he would test his popularity and followership in the next general elections?

Besides, the protesters are justified in their anger, since they know that the visiting nothern Jihadist governors do NOT have their interest at heart. They came to show solidarity with a mole that is trying to help return power to the North in 2015, at the expense of the Niger Delta's own incumbent president. Did the Jihadist governors honestly expect to be cheered on arrival?
You guys should go back and study this Amaechi's poilitical history. A guy who took over the mantle of leadership without really standing in for an election (because Godfather Odili wanted to deny him his dues).
A guy who has whethered so many crisis in his short political life, without having his feathers ruffled.
A guy who reminds me of Senator Ken Nnamani and how he quashed OBJ's third term bid.
Bros, GEJ should thread carefully. It is an advice.

Ameachi can end all these - simply by joining Anger & Pain Contraption (APC) .
