Driggs: I understand there are traffic offenses and one has to obey the rules of the land but there is also a place for justice and fairness.
I was coming back from a meeting at 2am yesterday and returning to my house to rest when I noticed my temperature gauge running high. I immediately pulled over at Kingsway bus stop. There was no water around, so the only option I had was to wait for a few minutes for my car to cool down. To avoid being attacked by miscreants, I locked myself in my car and also reached out to my mechanic at 2am. He told me he won't be able to come until 5am but I should wait until the engine cools down, start it and drive off. There was also no towing van in sight except the one from Ministry of Transport.
Not long after, some officials from Ministry of Transport swung into action, without saying a word and without questioning my intent nor trying to get answers, and attached their towing van to my car and towed it away to MOT car lot at Ikeja, opposite Ikeja City Mall.
I don't want to wait until I am ticketed and asked to pay a huge fine and it's already too late before I do this. None of the officials are available as I type (8:53am) and no one has attended to I and every other person who have been grounded. Please come to my aid and help me obtain justice. I have all evidences as well as witnesses who would bear witness to everything I have said. I also did not resist the towing officials nor had any altercation with them. The only thing I did was demand to know what my offense was as I was properly parked in the bus stop.
If I am asked to pay for towing? Why not? But for an overheating car that I am trying to allow to cool down and had only being there for 5 minutes..
Please find attached picture evidences.
cc lanrelagboi naptu2 jags001 stephanie11 Seun lalasticlala Guy sorry for your experience. You need to contribute to the internal generated revenue of Lagos state. They will give you thousands of naira fine. Next time your vehicle breakdown in Lagos, quickly come down and carry the vehicle on you head to your house or go on your knees and pray that Tinubu boys and their towing van do not locate you. If the towing van locate you, then you must contribute to Lagos internally generated revenue. Remember 10% of it goes to Tinubu and he needs the money for the forthcoming election war. Once again sorry. But just look for the phone number of their head and lay your complain to him, do not agree to be ticketed until you have spoken to their boss. Once the ticket is issued, you must pay. Welcome to Lagos where cars are not allowed to breakdown without a fine. Last month I met a lady that was given 30,000 naira fine because her car ran out of fuel and stopped on the road. |

gidgiddy: A year ago, the home of Nnamdi Kanu's Lawyer, Barrister Ejiofor, was invaded by the security forces. His driver, Gardener and Steward were whisked away to DSS detention Abuja and nothing has been heard from all three men to this day
2 years ago, a young girl called Idara Gold celebrated her 20th birthday by posting pictures of herself on Facebook wearing a Biafran dress. She was arrested by DSS, taken to Abuja, and last anything was heard from her was that she was in a detention camp in Niger State. She has not been charged with any offence to this day
Earlier on this year, 15 year old Chiamaka Okoro was arrested in Njaba and taken to DSS detention Owerri. She has been there for 5 months without charge and is reportedly pregnant.
These are just a few examples of how the DSS arrest people and detain them without charge for months, even years.
This is not about IPOB or Biafra or any other group, this is about the fact that anybody can be arrested based on any accusation, and kept in detention for years without any charge
Last year, veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu was arrested by Soldiers in Onitsha for wearing a Biafran dress. He was beaten and whisked away to DSS office in Enugu then taken to DSS detention Abuja. If not that Chiwetalu Agu is a celebrity whose arrest attracted public outcry, he would still be in DSS detention without any charge. There is no law that bans the wearing of Biafran dress
In what sort of democracy do you arrest your own citizens and detain them for years without any charge? Where is the justice in that? Is it the DSS that determines guilt or the courts?
A law must be enacted to stop the indefinite detention of people without charge because if it can happen to others, it can happen to you. The constitution is against arresting anyone and not charging him to court within 48 hours. The security agencies break the constitution and get away with it. The family of the victims can go to court to enforce the rights of the victims. The laws also need to be changed to allow the victims to sue to the perpetrators personally. If Mr Joseph work for the dss and abuses his office and detains a Nigerian illegally, then the law should allow the victim to sue the very official that abused his office. Right now the abusive officers are getting away with their crime. I was told that the victim can only sue a public officer who abuses his office within 30 months of the abuse occuring. This is bad, in 3 months the victim may still be experiencing the abuse or trying to recover from the abuse, many victims can not sue within 3 months. |

This is much more economical and cost-saving. The gen can also power our low voltage ACs. Our government has failed. It's sad to note they still claim they're paying subsidy despite the hike in the pump price of petrol and diesel. They're claiming that NNPC hasn't increased pump price yet, that the marketers only did so on their own.
In addition, we've installed solar panels in addition to the few we had in place.
Buhari's needless trips are a move to gather as much estacode as he can, for his retirement. Not that they'd not see money to take cafe of themselves but nothing is free anymore unlike when they're in office. Look at GEJ's look today and compare it with when he was in office. Politics › Re: $1 = 730 Naira??? Please What Makes Dollar Rise In Nigeria? by Earthstorms(m): 5:47pm On Jul 27, 2022 |
SmartPolician: @LoveGifted
Think of it this way.
Nigerian government may decide to print plenty of naira so that all Nigerians can become rich and spend money the way they like. This sounds good, right?
Well, the implication is that plenty of naira will be chasing few commodities on the market and mounting pressure on the few commodities. In the end, people won't be willing to work anymore because we all have money to throw around now. This leads to inflation - the prices of goods go up because plenty of naira are chasing few commodities.
Coming to dollars, every country needs to invest in some form of economic activity that attracts foreign exchange (foreign currency, dollar in this case). Unfortunately, the major thing we export that brings us dollars is crude oil and gas.
Bad enough, Nigeria is a country of 200 million people. We don't have the enabling infrastructure to support production. What this means is that it is cheaper to import many things from foreign countries than have those things produced locally.
For instance, the cost of manufacturing goods and moving them into Nigeria is by far cheaper than producing them in Nigeria because China has cheap labour, electricity, right government policies, etc. that support production.
As a result, more and more Nigerians are going for the USD so they can import things and sell to Nigerians. As the pressure mounts on the naira, it means that demand is higher than supply (that mainly comes through petrodollars). Just like what happens in the commodities above, the exchange rate will go up.
PS: There are other factors that affect it: Some Nigerians saving their money in dollars due to endless depreciation of naira, many Nigerians looking for dollars because they want to leave the country, others want to pay for school fees abroad and medical tourism, etc.
I hope this helps.... Politicians are moping dollars |

I am not a good economist or political analyst but I need a good person to help me explain what makes dollar rise in Nigeria.
I can't really understand what's happening. Lack of leadership. If buhari travels abroad for medicals for a long time and Osibanjo is acting, Osibanjo will call cbn to order and the exchange rate will drop. But as long as Buhari is around, cbn will continue misbehaving. Why is cbn refusing to give dollars to bdc where the black market rate can be regulated to some extent? Buhari is just allowing cbn to misbehave. |

Investment › Re: Looking For The Best Investment In Lagos Right Now? by Earthstorms(m): 1:35pm On Jul 25, 2022 |
REDOCHOMES: Epe Lagos is one of the preferred locations to consider when considering where to invest your money for maximum profits.
I remember growing up and hearing the entire rumor about how beautiful and expensive houses are in Lekki. Believe me, it’s every young Nigerian's dream to live or own a property in this amazing environment, which enables a good life and economical growth for its habitats.
But this has not always been the case, let’s take a few steps back into history. Lekki was formerly known as Maroko, a slum inhabited by poor people. It was destroyed by the then Raji Rasaki-led State Military Government and turned into a modern environment that houses big industries and companies. All of this aided the development of Lekki.
Many persons now focus on this axis as they invest their hard-earned money in Epe, the better before the price skyrocket like every other location on Lagos Island.
Below are 5 reasons why you should buy land in Epe now
Epe is part of the location that is not far from the Lekki free trade zone
The Lekki free trade zone is authorized by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Lagos state government. In lieu of this, properties in Epe are fast appreciating because several companies are investing due to the proposed and ongoing development.
The Lekki free trade zone is one of the locations that are not from the Lekki free zone. Its function is to reduce the trade barriers between Nigeria and other countries.
Also, Epe is favorably situated close to the city center, Alaro city which covers more than 2000 hectares of land in the Lekki free trade zone. Alaro city has areas of warehousing, schools, hotels, offices, and healthcare facilities
Epe also boasts of good road networks
The road network is known to connect to Ikorudu, Itokin, and also Ijebu Ode.
You can easily commute outside of Lagos state to other parts of the country. The road construction and design projects in Epe were handled by Craneburg and lasted for 16 months
Land in Epe is cheap
Since Epe is a developing area of Lagos state with good road networks, landed property is fast appreciating; if you are willing to invest you can still get a property for as low as 800,000 naira.
Epe boasts of colleges and universities which gives investors an idea of what they can do with the property. The famous Yaba of College of technology has a campus in Epe, Augustine University; Micheal Otedola is also located in Epe. This has led to the construction of educational-related infrastructures like hostels, restaurants, and many more by investors.
Epe boast of affordable housing
Perhaps you are looking for a cheap and affordable house in Lagos, Epe boasts more affordable homes and properties than any other place in Lagos state. If you are middle class and looking for a more habitable and serene location to invest in Lagos state, Epe is the right place for you The cost of labor is relatively cheap than in other parts of the state. Unlike Lekki and Ajah axis which are sometimes affected by flood when rain falls, Epe boast of land with dry topography, and the cost of building materials sold in this part of Lagos state are relatively cheap.
Conclusion
Owing more than a landed property in Epe is a good investment for a lot of reasons and more so because development in this location is still positively affecting properties. In case, you already own multiple investments in Epe, then you are among one those investors that will be enjoying a high return in the future. So don’t sleep on this amazing opportunity because there is no better time to invest than now.

Lateef Jakande did better by a wide margin.
The leaders we had from 1979 to 1983 were the last set of true leaders. Others ever since are more for their pockets.
As an example, lateef Jakande built the road from Lagos Island to Epe with the multiple bridges on that road without tolling it.
Our current leaders dualise about 20km of that road and place 2 toll gates on it to milk the people.
They built a single bridge to Lekki and tolled it.
There is a 10 km stretch between Epe and Ijebu ode that the are dualising now. They are already building 2 toll plaza on less the 10km road that they are building.
It is criminal to compare any modern politician with any politician of the 1979 to 1983 era.
Even governor Bakin Zuwo who kept Kano money in Kano government house was better that current Kano governor who is banking public fund in his babariga. |

"My brothers, those who are not from Borno State may not know, but you and I know better. In the history of Borno State, there is no Governor that has been fair to the Christian Community in this State as much as Governor Kashim Shettima. I am saying this in the presence of God Almighty and this is nothing but the truth. Governor Shettima, in the history of Borno, is the only Governor that has sponsored highest number of Christian Pilgrims every year since 2011. I am speaking boldly without fear or favour because as CAN Chairman I do not receive salary or kobo from Government or any institution, but the facts need to be told. This Governor has shown compassion to the Christian Community. For example, when Gwoza people were driven from their ancestral homes, they fled to Maiduguri, and the Governor personally came to CAN Centre in Jerusalem ward two times in June and July 2014. He gave N10 million for their upkeep at first instance, by the victims were not many. By the end of October 2014, the IDPs from Gwoza increased to 42,000 in that camp alone. Governor Shettima came again and gave another N10 million. He also gave additional N5 million for Christians from Borno who fled to Cameroon to be returned home. He gave another N5 million for non-indigenes who fled to Cameron to come back to Nigeria. The Governor even directed the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to be supplying food directly to the IDPs in under the Christian leadership. In fact, the Governor insisted that he wanted Christian IDPs to stay together with their Muslim counterparts in various designated IDP camps here in Maiduguri but we the leaders felt it wise to separate Christian IDP’S to avoid frictions between displaced persons dealing with trauma."
https://dailytrust.com/amp/boko-haram-what-borno-christians-faced-under-sheriff-shettima-can-chairman So shitima or whatever his name is gave 10 million naira for several months upkeep of 42,000 displaced christians. That is equivalent to 238 naira per displaced person, not for one days upkeep but for several months. This man should be ashamed of saying this publicly. |
