Nigeria needs money and more importantly p, partnerships. As a former colony of the UK, they can provide more beneficial partnerships to Nigeria. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the right person based on competence. Many above have spoken about his qualities but let me add what I admire so much in him that Nigeria needs right now.

Visionary Leadership. Tinubu was recorded as the first governor that dares Obasanjo to create an additional council.

Does Lagos need additional council? Yes

Does 1999 give provision for it? No

How did Tinubu manage the situation?
He simply turned the new council into a development area council.

Tinubu was not the first to create area councils in Nigeria.



Tinubu did not create 37 area councils at first, he created local government areas and only decided to copy delta and bayelsa states and changed them to area councils when the local governments he created was denied federal government subvention for 2 years.

Ibori was the first to create area councils in Nigeria.

Tinubu went against the constitution and created local governments, Obasanjo asked him to stop but he refused, that resulted in Obasanjo withholding the local governments subvention until he complied.

Ibori was smarter. Prior to 1999 Warri was embroiled in war between the Ijaws and the Itsekiris over local government creation and administration, to bring about peace, Ibori created area councils for the Ijaws, Itsekiris and the urhobos in the 3 Warri local governments. For the past 22 years that Ibori implemented this solution there has been peace in Warri and the local government subvention was not withheld by the federal government because Ibori was smarter and followed the law.

Even bayelsa copied it and created 24 area councils from their 8 local governments peacefully.

Tinubu later copied delta and bayelsa states after federal government withheld Lagos local government subvention for about 2 years.

I finally found my voters card after misplacing it for about 6 months now.
My sister found it in the family old shelf. Im not sure how I left it there.

But, there’s even a bigger problem now. I’m confused on who to vote for. Im pragmatic and open to any choice as im not sentimental. Im about the progress of Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Among the three forerunner;

Tinubu

Peter Obi

Atiku.

I sincerely don’t know who should have my vote.

Hopefully, Nairalanders can help me with a better choice and reason to vote for the said choice.

If you are confused then think about why the candidates are running for the election.

Some candidates run for elections for their personal benefits and to benefit their associates.

If you are not an associate of such a candidate, then much benefits is not planned o come your way, few collateral benefits may come your way but it was not the plan for you to benefit.

Atiku made it clear his associates will benefit from his presidency.

Tinubu fits squarely into this group of politicians as well. Which average south west resident has benefited from tinubu being in power in the south west for the past 23 years. It is just his family and associates that are benefiting.

Some candidates run to use public funds for public good. These type of candidates do not steal public funds, they eliminate waste of scarce funds and they do not create laws to enrich themselves or that high pension from public coffers when they leave office.
Peter Obi squarely sits in this category of politicians.

They next thing you can look at is the character of the candidates. No matter the amount of hope you bestow on the future, a corrupt candidate will not turn into a good manager of public funds. A good chunk of south west funds ends up in tinubu's account yearly. In some cases laws were created to make it look legal for him to be siphoning such funds for himself but in a sane society, such could never happen.
Corrupt leaders steal public funds and use such stolen funds to acquire more political positions and steal more public funds from the new positions. Just remember how Tinubu and Atiku became the flag bearers for their parties, by buying off the delegates. That is a bad omen, they will steal public funds to recover their investment.

Obi has made conscious effort not to appropriate public funds for himself. Not even pension payment to himself after 8 years as governor which is against the norm for people like Tinubu. Also Obi has avoided the usual delegates buying by leaving the PDP when it became obvious that money politics will play out in PDP.

If you are still confused, then simply vote someone different, PDP and APC has failed Nigerians, our children are jobless, terrorists are killing the people, kidnapping is all time high, corruption is the order of the day, the naira has seen massive depreciation, just vote a different party outside of PDP and APC so that we can retire these crops of failed politicians. Do not reward failure with more votes, it does not make sense.

Being corrupt is a character defect. It is almost impossible to change ones character, moreover corrupt people thinks being corrupt is smartness and will not change from how they know how to live, which is through corruption.

Atiku retired on salary grade 14, which should equate to less than 2 million naira a year in salary. He could not have earned more than 60 million naira as salary during his entire career in the customs, but he ended up a billionaire. Those are not the type of people you entrust public funds to.

Tinubu on his own has made living off public funds a past time.

Nigerians can not elect bad and corrupt leaders and hope for miraculous development, we need to do the right things instead of waiting for miracles.

I am a Nigerian scientist and researcher based in the USA. Recently, I vsited my town in delta state, Nigeria for a research on substance abuse.

What I saw, to say the least is alarming. A whole town in delta state is hooked on a drug called SWINOL.

This drug contains Flunitrazepam, a highly potent and dangerous benzodiazepam, which can be lethal and highly addictive even at a dose low as 1mg. This is very worrisome, as the addicts to SWINOL cuts across all age groups in the town.

I made some background research and findings reveal that the drug is produced by Swiss Pharma Nigeria Limited.

I visited the open drug market in Onitsha, and I got the drug easily. It is virtually sold in all the shops I entered. This is a schedule A controlled substance, the how come it's every where in the open market. I visited the open market in Lagos, it is sold there too freely. Other brands I saw include Rophynol and Hypnox.

We must do something urgently about this life threatening drug called SWINOL. It is killing the youths in my town.

I call on the Federal Government to look into the sales and distribution of SWINOL, HYPNOX AND OTHERS.

I saw people popping this swinol in sapele last year. I knew it was an addictive drug but did not bother to check on the class of drug it belongs to.

I wish the government can control the distribution of these types of dangerous drugs. At least pharmacies that sell them with doctor's prescription should be sanctioned.

I traveled last week Friday, I paid #15k from Lagos to PH, the road was smooth and okay untill I reach Onitsha..... Twas a bumper to bumper journey bro, I got to Onitsha by 6pm, since den.... Nah one way person dey pass, the road sef blocked in both lanes, we struggled to come out from the traffic only to meet a greater stand still in Owerri (Owerri hold up was d worst so far), our driver refused to follow d bush part, he prefer to sleep on the road than to take that route, he said twas very risky and dangerous.

You know Rivers state and check point wahala nau, I don't need to tell u about that one bcx any small drive, you have to stop or slow down for check point

Well..... I left Lag 8am and got to PH by 12am( midnight)...., Twas a very hectic journey, that road isn't for the weak lol. A friend of mine who also ply that route reached PH that same midnight. The problem is from Onitsha road down to PH, everywhere choke

I heard the Owerri to Onitsha section is bad and one has to go off the road and pass through the villages at some points. The villagers then set up many check points and people are being kidnapped in some of those check points.

I like to know how one can go from port Harcourt to warri, I heard the east west road can not be used, some portions are washed off, I heard going through Onitsha and Asaba to warri is also problematic, part of the road is cut off and one is forced to go through interior villages and people are being kidnapped on those off roads.

I thought of the port Harcourt to Enugu and then from Enugu to Onitsha and then to warri route, but I heard lots of Fulani herdsmen were offloaded by helicopters recently on the Enugu axis and are on a kidnapping spree on that route. It is just terrible.

How does one go from port Harcourt to warri?

I think you have taken the right decision.

It should be taken a a civic duty for all to vote the best candidate. Bad governance affects everyone so people should consider good leadership above all other factors before choosing who to vote for.

I still find it difficult to understand why educated people will vote for obviously corrupt candidates. I really don't understand it. Atiku and Tinubu are tainted by multiple corruption allegations, why are some educated people still considering them?
