Politics › Re: How Northerners Hijacked Niger Delta Oil Resources And PIB Bill by Eastlink(m):
Are you sure the north hijacked it? Yet GEJ was in power for 7 years and was so weak to implement the PIB.

North didn't hijack the PIB, they simply saw a loophole and took advantage of it. The north whether we like it can claim ownership to the oil in the Niger-Delta. Didn't you hear it was their groundnut money they use to fund oil exploration in the 50's?

Was it not Ijaw leaders, men like Dappa Biriye of Finima and Adaka-Boro of Okpokuma-Kolokuma that sold the Niger-Delta to the north. While Biriye Niger Delta Congress (NDC) was an ally to the north, Adaka Boro became the militant arm used by Ahmadu Bello / Balewa to instigate crisis in the old east. Infact Boro called Tafawa Balewa the protector of the e Ijaws and went on rampage as soon as the 1st coup took a swipe on northen led government.

Which kind alignment? This Bayelsa man it's obvious you still don't understand Rivers politics. Only the Ikwerre can win elections without needing the support of any group. And only the Ikwerre can anoint anyone Governor of Rivers state. The Ibani, Kalabari and Okrika understood this clearly, any wonder why their sons in the riverine areas have been primed for Governorship.

tell me why ndigbo has differences in dialect speaking?

ignorant boy
I guess you meant dialect. Different dialect of one language called Igbo, which is different from the several languages obtainable in the so-called Ijaw ethnic group.

Even the central Izon language which was promoted like Yoruba and Igbo ended up understood by only an handful of people in Southern Ijaw and parts of Delta.

When we look at neighbouring Niger-Delta ethnic groups, we still see similarity in dialect unlike you Izons. The Urhobo for instance have a central language that is mutually understood by Okpe and the rest sub-groups. The same applies to Efik which is mutually understood by the Ibibio, Anang, Oron, Obolo, Efut, etc. Moving to Ikwerre, we observe a central language understood by all Ikwerre clans. Do we talk about the Etsako in Edo north with a central language or the Ishan?

Why then is Ijaw different. It's difficult because Ijaw is a conglomerate of independent ethnic groups joined together due to nearness to the Atlantic ocean, oil politics and with different languages but created by the federal government as a willing tool to subdue and control the crude oil in the Niger-Delta.

Kalabari can proud itself to be a language just like Igbo. Kalabari in year's past used to be one of the official languages in the old eastern region just like Igbo, Efik, Ogoni, Ibibio, Ekoi.

Alegi Olotu with your several Nairaland moniker which includes Blacksaint come and see the title of the Okrika group. Did you see any attachee by force Okrika-Ijaws you IYC Bayelsa clowns like to flaunt.

Okrika people are using their platform to discuss issues that affect them, such as their preferred Okrika/Ogu-Bolo state for themselves, the Toboniju/Koniju problem, chieftaincy issues, the problem of unemployment, oil spill, cultism and insecurity.

Only you Ijaw land-grabbing clowns will come from nowhere to talk about IYC politics and other Okrika-Ijaw nonsense all to claim Port-Harcourt that has no boundary with Bayelsa.

Wakrike Nation is the title of the group. Not Okrika-Ijaw that you unity beggars are propagating. This was why they warned you Ijaw clowns to mind your business and stop dragging them into issues they are not interested in. Okrika people are talking about how to win Governorship election and sell a formidable candidate to their upland comrades and not street talks of Izon ogogoro drinkers.

I don't think you are from Rivers state at all because if you are from Rivers state, and you have been to lagos bus stop,(town) Churchill, Borokiri, new road and so on, you won't have make such reckless statement like the bold.
Oga Okrika people are 110% ijaw people infact, the average Okrika man is first an ijaw man before being an Okrika man. If by the grace of God this country split, we are going to take our own share of port harcourt and merge it with the ijaw/Izon nation ( I know this is what you are afraid of grin) we are already suffering in Rivers state under the ikwerres and you uplanders, only the ijaw nation will give the Okrika people peace and prosperity.
And you’ll force Okrika people to become Izon overnight right? Are you aware that Okrikans flaunt their Wakrike ethnicity with pride? If you failed in your mission to convert ordinary Nembe a stone throw from you as Ijaws, or Epie who flaunt their ethnicity, is it Okrika people that you'll bend into a failed agenda?

When we say no Ijaws exist in Rivers state, we have military gazette of the 1996 state creation to prove it. Abacha carved all Ijaws and their cousins into Bayelsa state, leaving Rivers into the hands of the original owners. The natural boundary is there already and no amount of IYC gansterism will alter it. We are aware of the game you lots played in old Rivers by using fake Ijaw umbrella to dominate us, but now that power has change hands you should stay put in your Bayelsa and stop pick-nosing into another state.

You cried for an Ijaw state and you got it, what else do you want?

You can't tell me what I know and term my statement baseless.
I did my first degree at Port Harcourt and currently work at the Niger Delta.
Izon is an ethnic nation made up of sub-groups that speak their distinct dialects.
That is why all those sub-groups I mentioned have Ijaw Youth Congress( IYC)Chapter , together with their local youth congresses.
Go and do your research if there is no IYC Chapters at Ogbia, Epie, Zarama( Bayelsa State) or at Engenni( Mbiama, JK 4 ), Abua, Odual?
I can't recollect the exact community in Rivers State now....they migrated from Odi axis of Bayelsa State.
I am not an Izon guy ,but from the Niger Delta.
IYC and INC just like PDP and APC are political parties that the riverine minority groups are members of. It does not prove ethnicity. How can you claim ethnicity yet speak English & Pidgin during meetings? Meetings of so-called brothers.
Only those in Southern Ijaw of Bayelsa and Izons in Delta can claim Ijaw. Only them speak mutually intelligible language. An Ogbia, Epie, Abua/Odua, Engenni, Bonny, Opobo, and even Kalabari and Okrika speak independent languages.

Even Isaac Boro during his declaration for Niger-Delta republic declared only the aforementioned Ijaw areas for a new country. He never added other areas into it.

I think all the riverine ethnic groups in Rivers State consider themselves as Izon people.
The Kalabaris, Okrikas, Ibanis( Bonny),Opobos, and the Andonis.
Do you think the Ikwerres are more than the Izon speaking people in Rivers State?
Stop making baseless assumptions. Riverine Rivers people don't consider themselves Izon abi na Ijaw. Where did you carryout such baseless survey to assume such? Even in Bayelsa the supposed homeland of the Ijaws, the Epies and Ogbia don't consider themselves Izon let alone Rivers people.

The original Izons speak mutual intelligible language in Southern Ijaw areas of Bayelsa and maybe Delta. There's nothing like Izon speaking people in Rivers state. Kalabari, Okrika and Ibani speak their unique languages which is different from Izon.

obiekunie01:
[s]The Igbos and Yorubas are always at a logger head on political issues. We seem never to agree.

Now 2023 is fast approaching and there is still serious divisions in the south especially if one look at the Yoruba supposed candidate which the Igbos don't accept at all.

After much thought on the 2023 presidency, it seems the south will lose again to the North if we don't shed our differences and present a united front.

For the South not to lose to the North, the only option is for the south to present candidates that will be accepted by the entire south and possibly North.

As an Igbo man, we are known for our peaceful approach to issues and based on that, I wish to table this suggestions and hope it finds root among the southerners and some North.

PRESIDENCY: For Ndi Igbo to support a Yoruba presidency come 2023, then they must present Rotimi Akeredolu to vie for the office of the President and Babagana Umar Zulum as his vice president.

SENATE PRESIDENT: The Senate President must be an Igbo man from the 5 eastern state and must be the person of Eyinnaya Abaribe . Also, the Speaker of the House of Representative must also be an Igbo man from the 5 Igbo states.

CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF: The Chief of Army Staff must be an Igbo man from the 5 Igbo states - if there is none qualified for the post, an Igbo man from other ranks must be promoted to the position (Baba Bubu has shown us that everything is possible).

CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF: Can be from from the middle belt region but preferably a TIV man.

CHIEF OF AIRSTAFF: Can be from any State from the Middle belt but especially from Kaduna South - must be a Christian

CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF: Must be from South-South especially Akwa-Ibom or Rivers

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER: Must be from any of Yoruba States especially Ondo

ARTONEY GENERAL: Must be an Igbo man from any of the 5 Igbo States.

CHIEF JUSTICE: Must be an Igbo man from the 5 Igbo states.

SECRETARY TO THE GOVT: Can be Yoruba man

MINISTRY OF INTERIOR, MINSTRY OF WORKS, MINISTRY OF FINANCE: MUST BE AN IGBO MAN FROM THE 5 IGBO STATES.

CUSTOMS: MUST BE HEADED BY AN IGBO MAN FROM THE 5 IGBO STATES.

FCT MINITER: Maybe an Igbo man or a Gbagi man for the first time.

INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE: Must be an Igbo man or woman from the 5 Igbo states.

IN ALL THE STATED POSITIONS, IF NO ONE FROM THE 5 IGBO STATES IS QUALIFIED, THEN ANY IGBO MAN CAN BE PROMOTED TO THE RANKS - REF: BUHARI 2015 - 2023.

With the above stated conditions fully agreed and accorded all legal backings by the two tribes, the Igbos will cede their 2023 presidential ambition and support the Yoruba - otherwise, then the reverse will be the case and the Yorubas will promise to support any one the Igbos present to view for the Presidency and the Yorubas will take the listed Igbo positions under an Igbo Presidency.

This is fair enough in my view. What do you think?[/s]
The moment I saw Eyinnaya Abaribe for Senate Presidency I knew a PDP/IPOB sympathizer wrote this. If you guys aren't selling Igbos for peanuts since 1999, you either find a way to spoil show for other qualified Igbo Presidential material.

Why must PDP and her band of South-East clowns keep selling Igbos short? Will heaven fall if an Igboman or woman becomes President of Nigeria?

If you agree that you have no formidable candidate in the south-east, then support Igbos from the south-south like Ameachi or Okonjo-Iweala for presidency. Obiekunie is high time you bury this moniker or grow sense as you are becoming a disgrace to your ethnic group.
